Error trying to connnect to the itunes store

in the process of trying to download a song itunes disconnected saying there was an error. i've tried reconnecting and it is saying there is was an error in the itunes store, there is a problem in the itunes store. unknown error msg (-50). does or is anyone having this same trouble. if so, what should I do?

I have been having this problem (-50) error message as well. I have already set up an account awhile back and have a gift card credit with Itunes. I have been unable to log in at all for the last few weeks. Emails to Apple are useless...meanwhile they have my money. HELP!!!

I've had the same problem for a month and yet I still cant get iTunes to work, I've heard different solutions but none have worked for me

I am not sure what you mean by "Flash Player for steam"; the only Flash Player installers I know is the ActiveX (for Internet Explorer) and the plugin (for other browsers); you can find both at http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header

I got this error message while trying to connect to the iTunes Store. -50. Does anyone know what that might mean? For almost two months I have been unable to use my iTunes with my iPod-because my iPod is not being recognized in iTunes. I have done every troubleshooting thing possible-including completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, eight different times. Please help. Super frustrated.

These alerts occur due to timeouts or conflicts trying to write a file during download.

If you encounter this issue while while downloading something from the iTunes Store:
Delete your iTunes Downloads folder, located in:
Mac OS X:  ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Downloads Note: "iTunes Media" may appear as "iTunes Music. Also, the tilde (~) refers to your Home directory.
Windows Vista:  \Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Downloads\

After locating your iTunes Downloads folder:
Quit iTunes.

Use MSCONFIG (directions for Windows XP and Windows Vista/Windows 7) to disable conflicting software.
If using MSCONFIG steps resolves the issue, you may want to use the System Configuration Utility to turn on the third-party System Services and Startup Items one at a time (restarting your computer after turning on the item or items) to identify which System Service or Startup Item is causing the conflict.
You can turn all of them back on by selecting the Normal Startup option under the General tab of the System Configuration Utility window, but please note that this may cause the issue to reoccur.
If you are able to isolate the issue to a particular third-party software, you may wish to contact them to let them know of the conflict.

Can someone help me please ? I was using itunes (downloading albums etc) just half an hour ago. I had a pop up asking me if i'd like to download the latest version of itunes, which i accepted. When the update had finshed downloading, i then restarted my computer, as i usually would. It should be telling you to download the latest iTunes on your computer... you can't install iTunes on your iPhone.

I get a connection timed out error when trying to connect to the itunes store, if I have pending downloads they show up and I can download, also I was able to access my account, yet I can't access other parts of the store, I am in greece on a macbook pro

I am from the states and am in Greece on vacation. I have a good wifi connection yet keep getting a connection timed out error when I try to access the itunes store. It is funny because pending downloads show up in the cue, and they download no problem. I can also open my account. When I try to go the the movies or music section of the stor though it just times out. I tried updating to the latest itunes software and restarting, also I checked all the proxy boxes in the network section of the settings then unchecked them all and restarted and it keeps doing the same thing. Any help would be appreciated.

There's been plenty of posts about Norton & the removal tool here. Unfortunately many folks seem to not even know it comes pre-installed on most PCs! Even a trial version, never used or long since expired can cause problems - and not just with iTunes.
Anyone with a Dell, HP, Gateway EEE PC, Asus ..... what Windows PC manufacturer does NOT have this junk software pre-installed?
Almost all of them have made deals with Symantec to pre-install it.
Horrible, horrible software.
Anyway, glad you finally solved your problem.

I have a 4s, and this has just happened when I try to download some free apps. The error says "this apple id cannot be used for the itunes store. Please enter another apple ID. As far as I know, I just have one apple id. I used the 'find your id' tool, which said that I didn't have an apple ID at all, which I do and can log into for other things, and it works fine. What has happened and how can I fix it? Thanks!

So my company decides to cut off my access to the iTunes Store. So I go in to Prefs and turn off all things iTunes Store related. I'm still getting a message saying it can't connect to the iTunes Store. How can I get iTunes to stop trying to connect?

Disable itunes store in preferences.
It's also possible you have some podcast group trying to connect to iTunes if that's their source. Disable podcasts or at least set preferences to check for podcasts manually.

Why does iTunes stop working when trying to connect to the iTunes Store on PC

Everytime I try to go into the iTunes Store on my Windows 7 PC I get a popup that says "iTunes has stopped working, Windows will try to find a solution to the problem."
I wonder why this is happening and I just updated to the new iTunes version about 10 minutes ago (I had this issue with the previous version too.) What do I do?

I don't believe it's just you. I am having an issue with iTunes myself on both my iMac and MacBook Pro. The iTunes store won't load as far as viewing my account info or trying to download previous purchases.
