Error trying to open a project

Hello,
I am trying to open a project that was created on the same system I am trying to acces it . But, I keep on getting an error:
This project is unreadable or may be too new for this version of Final Cut.
The thing is that I started this project on the same computer I'm trying to access it from. I tried copying the project file and opening the file on another system and it worked.
Please help

  • Error while trying to open a project I made on my computer/file format new

I am trying to open a project I made in June in FC. It is loading about 33% then a message comes up:
FILE'S FORMAT is TOO NEW FOR THE APPLICATION. Why is that? WHat should I do? It was made in my FCP on my computer.

What version of Final Cut Pro do you currently have?
Look in the Finder or at the FCP startup screen to find out.

  • When attempting to edit a project in the PWA I receive the error: 'An error occurred while opening your project. Give us a few minutes and try again...' Project Server 2013

    Hello,
I am hoping someone can assist with the error we are encountering when trying to edit a project from the PWA in Project Server 2013.  I can click on the project name and go to the detail page and I can
click and see the schedule.  However, if I click on a task in the schedule and attempt to edit it, I receive the following error:
'An error occurred while opening your project. Give us a few minutes and try again. If this happens again, contact your administrator.'
At this point I must click cancel twice to get rid of the error pop-up message.  At this point, I am no longer able to look
at the schedule of the project either.  Can someone assist with this issue?
    Thanks

    Hi antonio,
In addition to Phani's advice, which version of IE are you using?
Can you reproduce the issue on another mahcine and with another browser?

  • Error trying to open source media - Compressor 1.2.1

I have a problem with a movie that have been sent to me. I seem unable to add it to a batch in Compressor or in Final Cut Pro 4.5 HD for the that matter.I'm using QuickTime 7.0.3 adn Mac OS X 10.4.3
When ever I had it to Compressor I get this error:
"Alert: Error trying to open source media file"
    http://www.saruken.com/temp/Compressor-Error.jpg
And when I import it into Final Cut I get this error:
"File Error: 1 file(s) recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown."
    http://www.saruken.com/temp/FCP-error.jpg
The settings for the offending movie are:
    Format: H.264, 640x480, Millions, AAC, Stereo (L R), 22.050kHz
    FPS: 29.97
    Data Rate: 90 kbytes/sec
    Key Frame: Every 300 Frames
The only difference between my test, which works fine, and this file is the frame rate (mine is at 25fps) and the number of audio channels (my test was in mono).
The file I was sent was encoded in Compressor, not sure which one - but I think it might be version 2.
The strange thing is it opens in QuickTime fine. I've tried exporting from QuickTime Pro as another h.264 with mono sound with no joy. I've tried saving a reference of the movie to see if that works, again no joy.
The only way I can get Compressor to accept the file is by transcoding it to another codec, like Soreson 3. Then FCP and Compressor are happy.
What I can't work out is why the h.264 file I made is fine (and any file I still make as well), and the one I was sent is not. I'm also having the same problem with an h.264 file I downloaded from Apple QuickTime Trailers, and an another I found on the web.
Updates that have been done recently incase they might have caused the problem are 10.4.3 and installing Motion 2 Trail (since removed), which wanted to update Pro Application Support (this might be the problem?).
    Any help greatly apprieated
    Hami

I just tried the offending movie file on my Powerbook, it has never seen Motion 2 or those Pro Application Support updates - and it gets the same error.
Very odd indeed - any ideas?
    thanks in advance

  • Crashing when trying to open a project / forgetting where media files are

I spent all day manually locating hundreds of missing 'offline media' in a project, saving as I went. Premier Elements crashed when this was complete, now I try to open the project after rebooting and it either cannot find them again or crashes when trying to open the project. Anyone got any clues as to how I can fix this?

    alex peatfield
What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
How long has this issue existed?
Are you moving, deleting, renaming files and folders that go into a project after the project has been saved closed?
If you have source media stored on an external hard drive, determine if the external hard drive is malfunctioning, including if its drive letter
    changing.
    Lots of drill questions...
    a. Running the program from a User Account with Administrative Privileges?
    b. Latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer?
    c. What are your computer resources and is your computer optimized?
    d. What are the properties of your source media that are involved in this issue?
    e. Where are the Scratch Disks directed and how much free hard drive space is at those locations?
    f. Do the problems exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Let us start here and then we can decide what next.
    Thanks.

  • Trying to open a project from Elements 3..in PRE 6???

Ok folks don't laugh..but i'm teaching my daughter to edit...she had a fun school project built in Premiere Elements 3....after she added her music clips...the program crashed...
Now im trying to open/finish project in Premiere 6....doesn't look easy as of yet...any ideas

Completely different software... and I think P6 is also older than PE3... I doubt you will be able to open a PE3 project in P6
You will either have to create a new project in P6, or figure out why PE3 crashed

  • Help - PPro hangs when trying to open a project

The project was working fine earlier today. I haven't changed the drive letters involved, and the autosave files also hang it. I've tried importing the project into a new project, as well as copying the proj file somewhere else, renaming the folder with all the footage in it, and opening that. What happens in all cases is Prem loads and gives me the "recent projects" panel. (My project was in this, but then I did a system restore in case that would fix it, and it hasn't - all that seems to have happens is that Prem has lost its recent history.) I open the project. The progress bar gets to about 75% of the way within a second or two, then hangs. The amount of memory Prem is using doesn't increase in the task manager, CPU usage is nowhere near 100%, etc. I've defragged the disks (they didn't really need it anyway)  and the registry (which did need it) and that doesn't seem to have done anything.
I've also tried opening the prproj file in XML Wrench and fixing it for valid XML, but it found no errors. The file itself is only about 4Mb, and not particularly complex - just AVI files and images with scale, position etc keyframes on them.
I just tried importing the project into a new one, but instead of importing all sequences I chose "selected sequences". I got the message "An Adobe Dynamic Link error occurred".
Finally I've just managed to open the project in AE, with no fussing, although all the footage items are missing and when I use Replace Footage, this doesn't seem to do anything!!!!! Ctrl-H, locate the file, click on it - at this point AE would usually find the other 200 or whatever missing items - but it doesn't even find the one I've just clicked on! They're there on the disk, I can preview them from windows explorer.
AAARGH! Anyone got any ideas about anything else I could try, or is this "just one of those things"? Obviously, this has a deadline of, er, tomorrow morning. If I lose it and hurl the whole thing through a window I might post pics, I think they'd be therapeutic.....
    Thanks in advance
    Nick

Connected the external drive to it, tried to load the project (the ext drive it's on comes up as the M drive, not H, as there's a CD drive on H already which I can't figure out how to get rid of - disabling all CD drives in Device Manager doesn't seem to do it). Predictably this didn't work; it froze as before.I
n the OS of this other machine:
To assign, change, or remove a drive letter
    Using the Windows interface
    Open Computer Management (Local).
In the console tree, click Disk Management.Where?
    Computer Management (Local)
    Storage
    Disk Management
Right-click a partition, logical drive, or volume, and then click Change Drive Letter and Paths.
    Do one of the following:
To assign a drive letter, click Add, click the drive letter you want to use, and then click OK.
To modify a drive letter, click it, click Change, click the drive letter you want to use, and then click OK.
To remove a drive letter, click it, and then click Remove.
    Important
Be careful when making drive-letter assignments because many MS-DOS and Windows programs make references to a specific drive letter. For example, the path environment variable shows specific drive letters in conjunction with program names.
    Notes
To open Computer Management, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management.
You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might also prevent you from completing this procedure.
A computer can use up to 26 drive letters. Drive letters A and B are reserved for floppy disk drives, but you can assign these letters to removable drives if the computer does not have a floppy disk drive. Hard disk drives in the computer receive letters C through Z, while mapped network drives are assigned drive letters in reverse order (Z through B).
You cannot change the drive letter of the system volume or boot volume.
An error message may appear when you attempt to assign a letter to a volume, CD-ROM drive, or other removable media device, possibly because it is in use by a program in the system. If this happens, close the program accessing the volume or drive, and then click the Change Drive Letter and Paths command again.
Windows 2000 and Windows XP allow the static assignment of drive letters on volumes, partitions, and CD-ROM drives. This means that you permanently assign a drive letter to a specific partition, volume, or CD-ROM drive. When you add a new hard disk to an existing computer system, it will not affect statically assigned drive letters.
You can also mount a local drive at an empty folder on an NTFS volume using a drive path instead of a drive letter. For more information, click Related Topics.
You can re-assign the drive letter for the DVD burners and then assign the appropriate drive letter to match what your Project expects.
I swap machines a lot with Projects, and have each external's drive letter assignment the same on all computers.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Error trying to open a chm:

After a MICROSOFT HTML Help compile, with no errors, when
trying to open the chm file get: Cannot open the file:mk:@MSITStore
<followed by the full path> . The file also does not work in
the application. Tried the currently posted forum suggestion re
this error being about the "path being too long" - a shorter path
did not help. This seemed to occur spontaneously. It worked one
day, and after another compile it did not work. Tried Microsoft
Support page article 312456 re replacing and registering hhctrl.ocx
file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance. Joe

So it looks like something got damaged in that one particular
project. It claims to compile without error, but perhaps it is
compiling a truncated version. What kind of file size does the .chm
have? Is it normal or is it smaller? When you open it do you get
the Nav pane? Can you click on any topic in the TOC and get it to
    open?
I ask this because I have seen the compiler stop without
warning if there is an error in the syntax of the .hhp file. This
sometimes results in a short file, missing a lot of topics, but
otherwise "correct" in the eyes of the compiler.

  • IDVD won't open after trying to open a project that had missing links

I hope I can explain this correctly.
I created a DVD using iDVD last week, it had many short movies on it in different menus plus some photos in the menu areas. After I created the DVD & burned it, I moved the videos (plus a ton of other clips from the same year) to an external HD, as they were taking up tons of space on my hard drive.
Today I opened iDVD hoping to create a 2nd DVD project for a different year of clips. I had started to set up this DVD a few days back & saved it. When I clicked "open existing project", I found the projects but mistakenly clicked on the one that I had already burned. It acknowledged that it couldn't find the videos (since they're on an external HD that was not hooked up) and showed them all as broken links. Fine.
I tried to open the correct project, at which point iDVD froze & I had to force quit.
Since then, every time I try to open iDVD from Applications, I get a window asking where to look for the photos from the original one I opened, not the usual "create new project/open existing project" window. If I hit cancel in this window, everything disappears but the iDVD icon remains in the dock, but I can't open anything or do anything with it & have to force quit. If I try to do "find file", it just starts to search. Either way the whole program freezes up & I can't do anything with it.
Also, the iDVD menu will be at the top of the screen during this but I can't click to open anything else.  As soon as I click elsewhere on the screen, the iDVD menu disappears, the icon is still on the dock, it won't do anything again & I have to force quit yet again(and get a message that iDVD quit while unresponsive).
I'm going to try shutting down & restarting but anyone know anything about this?
    Thanks.

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iDVD/s cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.
3 - launch iDVD and try again.

  • Short Dump when trying to open C-project due to status

    Hi,
We have a daily batch job in CRM that reports all the project ID's and
    sends e-mails out to recipients.
As part of this report it retrieves the statuses for the project ID's,
however the report short dumps when retrieving the status for one of
the projects because it is not finding an active status.
When we try and open the project in C-projects we get the same short
dump error: CX_DPR_FATAL_ERROR so we cannot view or update the status.
When we investigate this issue we find that in table CRM_JCDS there are
3 entries for this project ID. One of the statuses is inactive (I1703)
but there is another status that is active (I1701). The two status
entries were created at exactly the same date and time and by the same
    user.
In table CRM_JEST there is only one entry shown which shows an inactive
status and we believe this to be the wrong status. Please can you
advise if this status conflict is causing the problem and also how to
    resolve this issue?

    Hi Paul,
generally, the project and its elements must have an active status in table CRM_JEST, however, at this point it is not clear how this inconsistency arised. There is no SAP standard report or a 'generally valid' solution that could solve this issue, however, I found a customer message that you have opened in September with exactly the same problem. A colleague from the development team already provided you with a correction report, but there was no feedback from your side if it helped or not.
It is very difficult to provide help as inconsistencies can have several different causes, so the best would be to have this checked in a customer message with an example.
    Regards,
    Silvia
