Error trying to send pictures in e-mail after 10.5.6 update

After applying the 10.5.6 update (which did hang during it, forcing me to cycle power).
Any attempt to e-mail pictures from iPhoto gets this error:
"Mail got an error: AppleEvent handler failed". Only a cancel button to click.
Anybody seen this?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I cross-posted this question in the mail.app forum:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1834063&tstart=0
And they pointed out these support articles:
(general what-to-do if the update fails or acts funny)
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2383
(specifically what to do if mail acts funny after updating to 10.5.6)
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2486
I don't have any mail plugins. So that rules out some of what the articles suggested, and your suggestions.
However, my mail.app program is not the version that is in the update! So, I am re-downloading it and will re-apply it first.
Hopefully it will apply smoothly this time...
Thanks for the help. Will report back the results.

I am triing to send pictures threw eliments 9 and it tells me I need a sender verification number. What is it and where do I find it?

    Hey,
Just to elaborate, as you have added the email id after selecting Adobe email services. You will get an email from '[email protected]'. In this mail there will be an alphanumeric code. This is the verification code asked by Organizer. If this email is not in the inbox then check your spam folder.

    Richard,
In another topic, the poster had the same trouble with removing the flawed version of Mail. So as was required in that case, try deleting the Mail application from the Application folder -- this does not impact your Mail folder where the messages are stored. Of course you will have quit Mail before deleting the application.
Next, put in your Leopard installation disk (a DVD), and when it opens look for the folder with the name Optional Installs. Open that folder and scroll through the available applications for individual installation -- Mail will be one of them. Install Mail, but immediately install the Combo Update again before trying to launch Mail.

  • Cannot send pictures in e-mail after downloading firefox 4 need help

when writing an e-mail I cannot put an attachment when trying to sent. The attachment button in the e-mail is gone and attachments cannot be inserted in to be sent.have tried several times and pictures are not allowed to come up for me to pick what I want to send.

I had the same problem. I'm running 10.5 but on a Motorola chip. The Firefox download page is not clear on OS and machine requirements. To fix the problem, trash the newly installed Firefox 4. Download Firefox 3.6.16 and reinstall. All of your preferences and bookmarks will still be there as they are contained in a different place. Hope this helps.

  • Network authentication failed error message when trying to send picture messages

I have a family member who is trying to send picture messages from Dubois, WY.  Verizon's map shows that Dubois is in the extended enhanced services area.  I am guessing that this may be one of those instances where the coverage map is not 100% accurate.  Please let me know if you have any other ideas or suggestions as to what the problem might be or how to resolve it.

Customers have the ability to take pictures / videos anywhere. However, messages can only be sent, received, or uploaded, while in the Verizon Wireless National Enhanced Services Rate and Extended Network Coverage Area.
Try dialing *228 send and option 2 to update the PRL on the phone.  Updating the PRL or Preferred Roaming List, ensures the phone is getting the best service possible.
You can also check the coverage area at the link below:

  • Can't send pictures in e-mails.

I am having trouble sending pictures in e-mails.  I keep getting a POP3 error.  Is this a server problem, computer setting, or a printer problem?

    Hello CottonBlossum,
More than likely it's an email system error and not an error with the printer. If you can provide me with the following information then I will be much more able to assist you.
    1. What device are you sending email from?
    2. What is the exact error message?
    3. What email provider are you using (ISP email, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.)
The exact error message will probably be the most helpful in determining what the issue is.
    Thanks,
    Brent

  • I been trying to send pictures thru email but it always say my email server didn't recognize my username /password combination... I don't know how to fix it... please help.

I need help... I been trying to send pictures  in iphoto thru email but it says that may emai server didn't recognize my username/password combination.

What email service? There have been many reports of issues with Yahoo mail with iPhtoo and with other clients -
The general answer for iPhoto '11  with e-mail issues is
in the iPhoto preferences ==> accounts delete your e-mail account and reenter it
    OR
IMHO the better solution is to set Apple mail as the email client in the iPhoto preferences

  • Why are my emails aborted when I'm trying to send pictures?

Why are my emails aborted when im trying to send pictures?

What is the size of the email attachments you are trying to send?  Many email providers limit the message content size some where in the 2-3 MB range, some larger some smaller.  If your photos are multile MBs that could cause the provider to reject the email.
Try resaving a rejected photo to a smaller size/resolution and see if it goes successfully.

  • TS3899 Cannot reply mail -- cannot  Send pictures to e-mail

Hello, Cannot reply to my e-mails and cannot send pictures to e-mail?

It's not an SMS, but if you select Multimedia Message rather than text message when you are creating a new text to send to an email address, it will send---at least it works that way on my phone.  Good luck!

  • Error Message While Trying to Send email from Mac Mail...

hello. i have been following the discussion board from some time, and finally made my first mac purchase. only 3 days old.anyways, i am trying to send mail from my .mac email account. i paid for the 1 year subscription,so i know my subscription status is still up to date. however, when trying to send an email using the Mac Mail application,i get this error..
    Error
This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
the connection to the server "smtp.mac.com" on port 25 timed out.
    can someone help me?
    my isp is: Cox
    location: Virginia, USA
just incase someone needed that. oh yes,i can also receive mail, but i just can not send any emails. i was trying to send an email to a "gmail" acct, and i also attached a 2mb pic.thank you to anyone who can assist me.

This error message indicates your ISP blocks the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or not provided by the ISP) on Port 25 which is the default/common port used by SMTP servers. Some ISPs allow the use of an authenticated SMTP server only that is outside of their network (such as the .Mac SMTP server) on Port 25 but some block its use regardless.
These restrictions are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
Are you also accessing an email account with the Mail.app that is provided by Cox and if so, are you able to send messages with this account?
    Something to try.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for your .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button for the .Mac SMTP server.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.
If this doesn't resolve it and you aren't accessing your Cox email account with the Mail.app, you need to create your Cox email account in Mail or at least add Cox's SMTP server and select/use Cox's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac account which is invisible to all recipients.

First unlock your caps lock key. Typing in all caps is inappropriate in online forums (considered shouting) and is hard to read.

  • Can't send document to Apple Mail after upgrading to Maverick

    Hello,
When I in iWork '09 try to send a document to Apple Mail as an attachment, I get an error message that says  "iWork encountered an error while attempting to create the attachment data", I get the same message wether I select "Pages", "Word" or "PDF".
I get the same message in Pages and in Numbers. It started after I upgraded to Maverick.

    Hello Fruhilda!
It seems that my problem is resolved. My version was 4.1 and App Store didn't show any updates. But after som searching I found out that there was an iWork 9.3 update which I downloaded and installed. After the update the version was 4.3 and I was able to send documents to Apple Mail.
