Error trying to share movie once created in imovie...

i have a small project in imovie hd (ilife06) which is about 745mb. when i try to share it using the "web" option it goes through the compression and rendering and right before it finishes i get this error;
the movie could not be sent to quiktime, because of an unknown error.
please make sure project disk has write permission and that you have enough disk space.
(error -50)
i have enough disk space and all the permission are set correctly. i even created another folder and copied the project over and i still get that error...
does anyone have any insight?

"Missing media" error trying to share new trailer

My daughter is using iMovie for the first time on a new Macbook Air running OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 and iMovie 10.0.1. She imported the video clips from her iTouch to her iMovie library and used some of those to create a Trailer. She used the default music from the trailer template and only the video clips she imported from the iTouch to the Air's local hard drive. In "Library" view the trailer is visible and looks fine.
However, trying to share or export the movie in any form (Theater, Email, Quicktime) generates the following error message, "[TRAILER NAME]" has missing media. If you click Continue, your project will be exported without these clips." The one time I tried to export it looked like only the first video clip she used was converting - the entire rest of the trailer was gone...but it's still working in Library view.
I cannot figure out the source of this problem, nor can I discover the answer in the forums. (I can't even see which media the app says are missing??) I've seen advice on delete/reinstall but was concerned that the trailer might vanish if I exit the app.

Yes -- when I wrote "in library view" it referred to within the iMovie app, where you toggle between "Library" and "Theater".
OK, so I found the Movies folder and the iMovie library folder inside -- thank you. The "original media" sub-folder seems to contain all 50-odd .mov files that were imported from the iTouch (though, curiously, about half show the deafult QT thumbnail icon - playing any of those replaces it with an image).
The folder also contains a subfolder with the name of her project; in that there is a single file called "CurrentVersion.imovieevent" that I assume is what the app is playing in the library/project view. But no other clues as to why the Share contines to return the missing media error...
To make matters more complicated, she subsequently created a second Trailor and that all seems to be working perfectly. I have no idea what's different about the newer project, but maybe just the first (and, imho, much better) trailor isn't going to work...beginner's (bad) luck? :::sigh:::

Trying to share movie with "Expert Settings" - nothing happens (help?)

When trying to "share" (export) my movie, if I select the "Expert Settings" option, nothing happens. That is, if I select "Expert Settings" and click "Share", then a dialogue window displays briefly and disappears, and the main iMovie window returns.
I'm running iMovie 4.01 on Jaguar. I tried deleting my iMovie prefs and the ~/Library/iMovie files, didn't help.
My iMovie project was previously corrupted somehow, I started a new project and imported the old ".mov" file to try to salvage it. This seems to have worked somewhat (I can play the movie and I can export it in some formats). But I can't use expert settings.

Two things you might consider:
- QuickTime export may fail if the ~/Movies folder is missing. Re-create that folder if that is the case.
- iMovie 2.1.1 can't export to QuickTime if Roxio Toast Titanium 5.0.1-5.1.1's Toast Video CD Export 1.0 is in iMovie's Resources:Plugins: folder. Toast Titanium 5.1.2 installs Toast Video CD Export 1.4 which fixes this. With new Toast versions this is not an issue.

Error trying to Share Photos to Flickr

I am trying to use the Share function from Elements Organizer to share photos with my Flickr account. However, I get an error message each time I try: "Online Services encountered an error. The service will now be terminated or paused if possible. (Error 6: mResponse.IsValis())
Can someone provide an explanation of this error code and any means of resolving the issue? I've seen other posts noting the error when trying to share with Flickr, Facebook, Smugmug, etc. but have not seen a good explanation of how to resolve.
I'm running Elements Organizer 12.0 on a Mac with OS X 10.8.5.

Apologies for delayed response. Is this issue resolved? Are you using a multi-user system (having more than one user account).
Please try following steps:
1. Open Organizer preferences.
2. Navigate to 'Adobe Partner services' and click on 'clear online service date' button.
3. Right click 'PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe' located at 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Elements 9 Organizer\' and select the option as 'Run as admin'.
Please revert if issue is not resolved.

I just wanted to know if it was possible to save a video/movie file to your iPhone4, that was created in iMovie'11 and then email it using the phone's wifi capability to contacts? I created the film in iMovie'11 and then shared it to iTunes and now i'm stuck. Please help. New at this and we're trying to figure this stuff out.

I did try that BUT the DVD will NOT play in my dvd player. The large size 'share' option converted the imovie file into a m4v format. TOAST burned it okay but it won't open in the player.
Any other suggestions will be appreciated...

Movies.old created and iMovie Projects lost

Anyone seen an issue where they connect to a networked home directory and certain home folders are deleted? In this example the original Movies folder is gone and Movies.old created
(I had a previous post in another category which was never answered so I'm trying here).
Client computer is 10.6.2 Intel Mac. Created a network home directory on Mac OS X Server 10.4.11
Everything working fine - user creates and iMovie. Week later, logs in and Movies folder is gone and Movies.old in it's place has no files.
Any ideas of where to start looking?

Yes they can be deleted if you have moved all the projects you want to work further on to iMovie 10, have checked that they are working OK, and are happy with switching permanently to iMovie 10. (There's no going back).
On the other hand if you leave them you can still use the earlier version of iMovie.

Error trying to convert .mov to H.264 (mp4) for vimeo upload

Hi.
I have a 25 minute long sequence which is 1920x1080. I already exported a .mov file (49 GB) with out changing any settings and it plays back perfect.
I want to upload this to vimeo as high quality as possible. They suggest H.264 (mp4) and a whole string of other optimal settings. When I exported from FCP with their requested settings the result was a glitchy/pixelated mess which I would be embarrassed to show. I have seen a lot of high quality movies on vimeo, so i know it's possible to have it look better.
I tried next to use a variety of conversion programs to convert the .mov file to H.264/mp4. mpegstreamclip and Emicsoft MTS converter both gave me problems. I also tried to "save as" from quicktime and also ran into quality problems.
I just tried using Compressor, and after 3 hours got this error:

if the movie you exported is self-contained, not a reference movie it is not referencing your original files. Try putting it on the external, and render to the external too. I hope the Lacie is a 7200 drive and firewire, NOT usb.
For testing purposes you could use quicktime pro and cut out a small 30 second or 1 minute section, and see if compressor will process that - then do your whole movie

I get an error trying to download movie

I got transformers 3 for Xmas. I redeemed the code, but the download fails saying I dont have the "access priveledges to download this movie."
I updated itunes, I dont have parental controls that wont let me download movie set, I am on the internet....
The movie redeemtion DOES show up in my purchase history and it does show in my queue of undownloaded purchases. When I do try to download, itunes creates the placeholder file in the movie section with no artwork but it doesn't do anything.

Can't remove share points once created in admin tool

I created share points using the Workgroup Manager according to the instructions found in the documentation. I am unable to remove them from the "Sharing/All list in the manager even after I uncheck the "Share this item and its contents" option as found in the documentation. I have checked for the "no change" toggle on the directories but that isn't the issue.
Any help would be appreciated!

Unchecking "Share this item and its contents" and saving changes should remove the SharePoints from the list.
You can double-check this by opening NetInfo Manager and looking into the directory config/SharePoints of your local NetInfo Domain. That's where sharepoints are stored (at least until 10.5).

When I sign into Yahoo mail, I'm getting an error trying to read, move, or delete messages: JSON.parse Response parse failed.

I have used Firefox for many years and never encountered such a problem. It seems to be only Yahoo mail. The problem started last week and is making it nearly impossible to access my email on this computer. It does not happen on my laptop at home.

OK, Today I went ahead & booted & tried again & it worked this time.
Not sure why it didn't yesterday. Maybe the servers were just overloaded? Several others reported similar.
Also yesterday when I ran Speedtest it showd download at about 25 mbps, This morning just before I re-started the download it was showing just above 30 mbps. So maybe the internet was less busy? Or at least the parts between me & the test server.
& so far it is working ok.

a file with an .fcpproject extension is no video you can share.
it contains only data of your project, for usage in FCPX.

Trash the preference files while application is NOT Running.
Easiest way to find out if this is the problem is by:
• Create a new User-Account
• Log out of Your old one and into this
• Re-try iMovie
If it now works OK - then 99.9% the problem is iMovie pref. file that needs to be trashed.
