The required OS version is 2.1, and this machine is running .
I am currently using : uname -a

Just change your /etc/redhat-relase to something SPS is aware of...
Something like :

This should work, but is NOT supported ;)

is there anyone can help me how activate my iphone 3gs when i have tried to update it from IOS 4.1 to IOS 6 , but now there is just an activation form on my iphone screen that i need to connect to WIFi to be able to activate it or connect to I TUNES. i don't have any access to WiFi and when i connect my Iphone to ITunes an error comes : we are unable to continue with your activation at this time
i've tried this about ten times but the results is still same, i mean nothing
if anyone can tell me what to do i'll be happy

Generally this is a sign that the iPhone had previously been
hacked/modified/jailbroken and the update relocked it to the
original wireless carrier. If this is the case, only that wireless
carrier can unlock your iPhone. You must contact them to see
if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
Where did you acquire this iPhone?
What wireless carrier did you use before this problem?
Does the app Cydia appear on your iPhone?
What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>About=>Carrier?

    Hello:
I would trot back into the Apple store and have them fix the problem (or call Applecare with a warranty issue).  There is no sense in you wasting your time trying to troubleshoot things on a new computer.

  • Error message: itunes-restore phone to factory default on iphone 3 "we're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time".

Attempting to restore Iphone 3 to factory deafalut, to finish "unlocking" the Iphone 5.
Moving the phone from one cellular carrier to another (in this case Rogers to Bell in Canada).
Rogers "unlocked" the phone on their end for $50.00, sent an email to Apple requesting serial # to be released from their network, and to provide "unlocked" status.
Next step was to restore phone to "factory default" in I tunes, and wait for phone to reset and show "unlocked" status.
Upon phone resetting in Itunes, after the "factory default", received the following error message"
"we are sorry, we are unable to unable to continue with activation at this time  Please try again, or contact customer service".
I contacted Apple customer service whom confirmed that the phone is showing as "unlocked" in their system.
New carrier that I am attempting to hook phone up states that the phone is still locked.
What is the solution or workaround?

    Hello mzpartia,
I found an article from Apple that specifically outlines how to try and troubleshoot this issue. It's called iPhone: Troubleshooting activation issues found here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3424.
    Resolution
Perform the following steps if you receive one of the messages above:
    Restart the iPhone.
Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
Try connecting to Wi-Fi if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.
If you receive an alert message when you attempt to activate your iPhone, try to place the iPhone in recovery mode and perform a restore. If you're still unable to complete the setup assistant due to an activation error, contact Applefor assistance.
    Take care,
    Sterling

This is usually a symptom that the phone was hacked/jailbroken. Was it?

"We're Sorry, Activation Server Temporarily Unavailable, contact Customer Care...Could Not Be Completed?"
99.9% of the time, the cause of this issue is the fact the phone was jailbroken/hacked to unlock it for use on networks other than the network the phone was originally locked to. Apple maintains a database of officially unlocked iPhones, and when Apple's servers detect phones such as yours, activation stops & you get the message you got.
So, you need to get a sim card from the carrier the phone was originally locked to, or get it officially unlocked, if you want to activate it. Because it appears that it was not officially unlocked.

  • "Unable to continue with activation" error when trying to restore iPhone 3G?

    So here's the sticky.
My friends from the Middle East bought me an iPhone 3G. They had taken the SIM out of it.
I connected it to my computer, and backed up all the photos. It was running 4.2.1 (the final version of iOS for 3G). I then downloaded 4.2.1 again from getiOS.net, hoping to rejuvenate the bogged down iPhone with a fresh restore. I connected it to iTunes, selected my downloaded iOS file, and proceeded with the restore.
So it extracts the software fine, the progress bar also shows the restoration and verification going fine, but then when the iPhone reboots it shows a screen which sort of looks like the iTunes recovery mode screen (the wire connected with the iTunes icon) but it also has a popup saying "NO SIM CARD INSTALLED", and on my computer iTunes says, "We are unable to continue with your activation at this time. Please try again later."
So where's my iOS gone?! What happened to my phone? How do I get it back to normal?
Someone suggested putting the phone in actual recovery mode by holding down the home button and connecting it to the computer with iTunes on, but it just showed the restore option again and when I tried the restore again, the same problem happened.
Please think of a solution guys. Is it because there is no SIM inside? Or maybe it's from a different region? Or what?

  • IPhone 4 won't turn on and unable to continue with your activation at this time

I have an iphone 4 which was working fine. I tried to update it but this time I used a computer running xp. When I did so I got an error. Since getting this error my iphone will not turn on. I am not even getting apple logo. It does show up in itunes but I get the message:
"We're sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time."
I have tried holding down the home and power button to do a restore and nothing is happening. Please help! Thank you.

    No never jailbroken

  • We are unable to continue with your activation at this time

Hi, I'm getting the error message in iTunes:
We are unable to continue with your activation at this time. Please try again later, or contact customer care.
I have phoned 3 and they said that the apple servers are down and I'll 95% be able to activate it soon. After reading some posts on here I don't quite believe that will be the case. Who has honestly solved this problem and how? My phones just a dead brick at the moment.
Also the signal bar in the top left corner is none existant and just says searching. I want to know if it's meant to not find the network until after activation? Or should it already be finding it?
    Thanks

I know its been a while since this question was posted, but i've just had the same message and it took me ages to work out how to resolve it - and I didn't see the solution on any other post so i thought i'd share mine.  This may not resolve everyone's problem, and there is a post from jhidrowoh that gives other solutions, but my solution turns out to be simple.
I simply hadnt put the sim card in the phone.  i suspect that the same problem may happen if the phone has no signal.  once i put a valid sim card in the phone, the itunes activation screen came up.
i presume they do this to ensure the phones are tied to a particular network?
Anyway, I'm now a happy bunny on Xmas day!

  • Ipad activation failed : unable to continue with your activation at this time

    Hi 2 all,
i've just upgraded and restored my ipad to 4.3.2 and now i received always 2 error messages:
    1) Unable to continue with your activation at this time
    2) Restore Needed Iphone cannot make or receive calls. Restore from itunes ...
    Someone can help me ?
    Thanks

Got the call today to pick up my iPhone.
The techie that checked it decided to replace my phone with a new one.
The only answer I have to this problem is that you take your iPhone/iPad to Apple support or wherever you bought it from to assist and maybe have it swopped.
    Cheers,
    RoviWil
