  • Error creating filesystem

    Hi there,
    I am following all the instructions as well as I can. I have a core image on a CD and on a USB. No luck, as soon as I confirm the file system I receive an error, - "Error creating filesystem" I have tried all the file types.
    The system is an AMD 64 athlon x2.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Error creating filesystem dm_crypt (Error creating filesystem lvm-lv)

    I'm new to Arch and I've tried to to a new installation on my notebook. I followed the "Official Arch Linux Installation Guide", chapter "Manually configure block devices, filesystems and mountpoints" in order to create my encrypted disk setup.
    Created 2 partitions: sda1 250MB for boot (bootable), sda2 rest of the disk
    The installer quits the creration of the file system with the error "Error creating filesystem dm_crypt on /dev/sda2". I don't get why and I did not found any information in the forum about this.
    I've sent a bug report, so you can check the content here: http://sprunge.us/HaJA
    The installer log shows "[DEBUG UI ] show_warning 'process_filesystem error': Error creating filesystem lvm-lv on /dev/mapper/cryptgroup. (msg)"

    Mhh I've redone the whole creation of the volumes and when I have chosen less space for the home partition (550000 MB instead of 555243MiB) the installation went fine.
    40000MiB for cryptroot
    15000MiB for cryptvar
    555243MiB for crypthome
    -> 610243MiB used.
    610245MiB is the disk space for  /dev/sda2
    Therefore I would assume that 555243MiB for crypthome is ok.
    Did I missed something?

  • Using flex4.1, Flash Builder giving error "flash.filesystem::StorageVolume could not be found."

    Hi there,
              I'm trying to copy some files to Storage Card on a AIR application. Is this possible with the latest version of the AIR SDK (2.0)?
              I am developing in Flash Builder. I have downloaded the lastest flex sdk(4.1)  and used it.
              Flash Builder then recognises the StorageVolume and StorageVolumeInfo classes. However when I then run the app the debugger throws an error on the following line:
    LINE:
    var volumes:Vector.<StorageVolume> = StorageVolumeInfo.storageVolumeInfo.getStorageVolumes();
    Note: I have imported both classes as well.

    I'v read the article
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2984004#2984004,
    and checked my application.xml, The content of the first two lines is:

  • Disk Utility error msg:  Filesystem verify or repair failed!!!

    Ok so after erasing my partitioned HD I wanted to use the rest of my HD on my start up HD, So I pulled the expander in the partition window to resize the volume of the HD. Then I clicked apply to resize the HD and ended up with a Partition Failed message that stated
    Partition failed with the error:
    Filesystem verify or repair failed.
    What do I do from here to get my current HD at full capacity?
    The current size is 19.9 GB and it should be at 60 GB.

    Ok, so I had a partitioned hard drive, and I wanted to expand the start up drive and delete the unnecessary partition. So in disk utility I clicked on partition and deleted the partition I didn't want.
    Then I used the expander thing in the bottom corner of the start up hard drive box and clicked apply to enlarge it, but filesystem verify or repair failed message appeared.

  • Kernel 2.6.32.7-1/mkinitcpio update issue - filesystem/ext3 error

    Hi,
    Earlier my desktop (after a week uptime) didn't boot anymore. It got the "Reboot required" error at filesystem check (the rc.sysinit script gives this when fsck returns exit status 2).
    I tried several things, made sure from a live that the partitions were all clean, yet nothing helped. Then i noticed i wasn't all up to date and made a pacman -Su (after refreshing the list) and at the kernel26 upgrade it said 'SUCCESS' but it gave a small error message during it:
    :: Parsing hook [autodetect]
    /lib/initcpio/install/autodetect: Zeile 17: filesystem:ext3:1.0: Kommando nicht gefunden.
    (Sorry in German but it really is just "line 17" and "command not found").
    The Message only appeared in the normal kernel, during building the fallback it didn't say anything.
    I had done the same updates a day before on my netbook and there i can't remember any error message and it also boots just fine.
    As long as i disable automatic fsck at boot in the fstab the system boots fine.
    I'm too tired right now to try any more things, i need sleep. I'd appreciate some help in this, however it's not too urgent, as i can boot and use the system without automatic filesystem check at boot-time.

    This hook shrinks your initramdisk to a smaller size

    This hook must be run before other subsystem hooks in

  • [SOLVED] grub "unknown filesystem" error for big partition layout

    Last night / this morning I copied the root and swap partitions of an Arch Linux installation (stushiba) I had on an old Toshiba hard drive, as well as the "system reserved" and other partitions of a Windows 8 install (stuzate) on another 500GB hard drive, onto a new 2TB Western Digital hard drive using Gparted via an external Arch environment I run off of a microSD card + adapter (sturling).
    After doing so, I installed GRUB to the new drive to the best of my ability, but when I try to boot the system with just that drive, this is what I see:
    GRUB loading.
    Welcome to GRUB!
    error: unknown filesystem.
    Entering rescue mode...
    grub rescue>
    Running ls doesn't find anything:
    grub rescue> ls
    (hd0) (hd0,msdos4) (hd0,msdos3) (hd0,msdos2) (hd0,msdos1)
    grub rescue> ls (hd0,msdos4)
    (hd0,msdos4): Filesystem is unknown.
    grub rescue> ls (hd0,msdos3)
    (hd0,msdos3): Filesystem is unknown.
    grub rescue> ls (hd0,msdos2)
    (hd0,msdos2): Filesystem is unknown.
    grub rescue> ls (hd0,msdos1)
    (hd0,msdos1): Filesystem is unknown.
    The system should be on (hd0,msdos3) - it's ext4, and, if I insert the old Toshiba hard disk to the system and select that as my boot device in BIOS, it boots from the partition on the old drive's grub menu, into the partition in the new drive (because they have the same UUID), so the partition's definitely readable/bootable. (I've tried both regenerating the grub menu and installing grub from this boot scenario, with no change.)
    (That said, if I enter a console on my system with a working GRUB installation and do an ls on that partition, I get more "unrecognized filesystem" messages.)
    Once the new partition had loaded, I ran
    sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
    and rebooted, but GRUB was still broken.
    I tried fixing this by rebooting into the latest installation media, with only the new hard drive plugged in, and running
    mount /dev/sda3 /mnt
    arch-chroot /mnt
    modprobe dm-mod
    grub-install --recheck /dev/sda
    But that still hasn't fixed anything: I still get the "error: unknown filesystem." message whenever I try to do anything in GRUB.

    This is the output when running from sturling (neither partition booted).
    /dev/sda is the new disk, /dev/sdb is the microSD card I'm running the system off of, and /dev/sdc is the old disk.

  • Moving files to another directory got an error message [File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Could not find a part of the path.".

    Hi all,

    I am having a variable named filename and archivefilename and two fileconnections  one is originalfiles and archivefiles
    archivefilename=replace( @[User::filename],"datafiles","archive")
    orginalfiles connection is an expression =@user:filename
    archivefies connection is an expression=@user:archivefilename
    the filename comes from reading the folder that contains those files
    public void Main()
                string[] filenames;
                filenames = Directory.GetFiles(@"C:\luminis\datafiles\");
                Array.Sort(filenames);
                Dts.Variables["filelist"].Value = filenames;
                Dts.TaskResult = (int)ScriptResults.Success;
    The folder c:\luminis\archive\ exists
    why I am getting this error
    My filesystem task : destinationpathvariable =false
    destinationconnection:archivefile
    overwrite=true
    operation=movefile
    issourcepathvariable=false
    sourceconnection=original file
    why am i getting this error[File System Task] Error: An error occurred with the following error message: "Could not find a part of the path.".

    there may be 2 problem...
    1> specify a target directory only, not with the file name.
    OR

    Erm, little problem here.
    Updated last night as normal and powered down my rig.
    This evening I got home, powered up and typed in

    and was greeted with the following:

    After some googling I came to the conclusion that pacman was corrupt.
    I have NO idea how this happened.
    Is there a way to fix this without a re-install?
    Help is very much appreciated.
    EDIT:
    I have read the thread here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=95007 but I'm not sure if that would apply in this situation.

    loafer wrote:It's the sync DB which has the problem.  Rename the dirs to core-old etc. and then "pacman -Syy" to force a download.  If that fixes it you can just delete the old ones.
    Thanks,
    Ill try that in a minute.
    I guessed that Input/output error meant filesystem corruption so I rebooted using :
    sudo shutdown -rF now
    and the resulting fsck on bootup had a few errors.
    Manually fixed them and now waiting for fsck to finish.
    Could take a while.
    I'll update when it boots.
    update:
    Booted,
    sudo pacman -Syy
    *no errors*
    sudo pacman -Syu
    *no errors*
    Guess its fixed then.
    I see how your fix would work, but I'm not sure I would have been able to rename the folders if they contain corrupted files.
    Thanks anyway,
    Matt

  • Fresh btrfs root partition cannot boot/unknown filesystem [solved]

    Just reformatted my SSD with 3 partitions.
    1) EFI
    2) /boot (ext4)
    3) / (btrfs)
    I copied over my systefrom tars, adjusted the new fstab to use btrfs, I rebuilt my kernel images, and rebuilt grub.cfg in the chroot.  When I reboot, I get:
    Welcome to grub!
    error: unknown filesystem
    Entering rescue mode...
    grub rescue>
    Per the wiki, there should be no special setup steps to boot to a btrfs root with grub.  When did I f-up?
    /etc/fstab
    LABEL=arch64 / btrfs defaults,discard,noatime,ssd,compress=lzo 0 0
    LABEL=boot /boot ext4 defaults,discard,noatime 0 2
    Excuse the short post, typing in a phone.

    Yes, it is dropped to a GRUB rescue shell.  I can boot if I manually type the following but WTF?!  Why isn't grub doing this by itself?
    grub rescue> set prefix=(hd0,2)/grub
    grub rescue> insmod (hd0,2)/grub/x86_64-efi/linux.mod
    grub rescue> set root=(hd0,2)
    grub rescue> linux /vmlinuz-linux-ck root=/dev/sda3
    grub rescue> initrd /initramfs-linux-ck.img
    grub rescue> boot
    Link to my autogenerated /boot/grub/grub.cfg

  • HT3204 I can't update to IOS6 my Iphone 4, Error 3194, how I can fix it?

    Few days ago, I was tried to install ios6, I downloaded the .ipsw file and later I was installed this, but showed me a message that I needed to register my IPhone in developers site. I don't found more information in apple's site for fix it, and i downloaded the .ipsw 5.1 IOS file. Now I can't install IOS6 because ITunes generate the next error: Unknow error (3194). If somebody has a solution please contact me.
    Best Regards,
    Ervin

    you need to click on the Restore button first... sync your phone first!
    After that it becomes availible.

  • Documents remain in GenWWW status and conversion error message says success

    Hi,
    I have instaled UCM 11.1.1.4 and the situation is that documents remains in GenWWW status, the
    conversion error message says success . In Ibr logs says everything went perfect, in UCM logs isn't recorded any error.
    Anyone have a clue to solve this problem?
    Update:
    When runnig IdcAnalyse appears the following error:
    ./IdcAnalyze -filesystem
    FileSystemFileStore:1.0.0.0 started.
    Content Management System Server. Version 11gR1-11.1.1.4.0-idcprod1-101229T001824

    Analyzing filesystem...
    .....................Error checking filesystem: Unable to locate extension for rendition flag 'L'.
    Is this error related with the documents remain in GenWWW?
    Thanks

    Usually this issue is seen when the IBR's cannot keep up with the load and after a defined amount of time, the refineryjobs entries are cleared while the IBR's might still hold this content item.
    If you do what Srinath proposes the refinery jobs is cleared as well as the queues on the IBR. This will not fix the issue with the documents in GenWWW, but it will make the way clear for (new) documents to be (Re-)submitted for conversion. IdcAnalyze should then be able to create a IdcCommand file with resubmit_for_conversion calls for all the documents in GenWWW state. Running this IdcCommand file should then convert all the documents that were "stuck" in GenWWW.

  • [SOLVED] Netbooting with PXE, TFTP and NFS / Numerous errors

    Greetings all, hope you can help me out.
    Been given a task by my company of making a network bootable ICA client (with X and Firefox, with the Citrix ICA client installed) as small as possible to minimize network traffic (as 440 workstations would be downloading the end-product simultaneously, so it'd beat ten bells of proverbial out of the core and edge switches for a little while). I discovered two options. One being to integrate everything in side a cloop image directly inside the INITRD. I have stacks of working INITRDs with their matched kernels yet being my first dabble in to extracting the INITRD, my faffing with CPIO has resulted in me nuking my base layout (Thank god for snapshotting in VMware Workstation!) 4 times, and either getting "Premature end of file" or a copius amount of lines stating "cpio: Malformed Number: <strange characters>" finally ending with "Premature end of file". As a result I went in search of another option, which would be booting off an NFS share. I followed the guide:
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dis … t_NFS_root
    ...in order to set up a network booted install of Arch and hit a few snags along the way, probably a result of using multiple operating systems for the TFTP and NFS server as opposed to using what the guide recommends, but I'm not sure as these seem solvable, although I don't know how right now.
    The set up:
    DHCP is provided by a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 VM (AD Integrated) on 172.16.10.17 on a box called "Rex".
    TFTP is provided by another Windows Server 2003 VM by "TFTPd32" which is a free download. This is located on 172.16.10.158 on a box called "Terra".
    The NFS store is provided by OpenFiler 2.3 which is a specialized version of rPath Linux designed specifically for turning boxes in to dedicated NAS stores. This is located on 172.16.10.6, and is called "frcnet-nas-1".
    The problem:
    DHCP is correctly configured with a Boot Host Name (Which is 172.16.10.158) and a boot file name of "pxelinux.0". This is confirmed as working.
    Client gets the kernel and INITRD from TFTP and boots up fine until it hits "Waiting for devices to settle..." by which point it echos out "Root device /dev/nfs doesn't exist, attempting to create it...", which it seems to do so fine. It then passes control over to kinit and echos "INIT: version 2.86 booting" and the archlinux header, and immediately after that it prints:

    ...and, nothing after that, it just stops. Kernel doesn't panic, and hitting ctrl+alt+delete does what you'd expect, a clean shutdown minus a few errors about filesystems not being mounted. It seems /proc isn't getting mounted because init apparently doesn't have the appropriate permissions, and /proc not being mounted causes a whole string of other issues. Thing is, proc gets created at boot time as it contains kernel specific information about the system and the kernel's capabilities, right? Why can't it create it? How come init doesn't have the same privileges as root as it usually would, and how would I go about fixing it?
    I admit, while I'm fairly competent in Linux, this one has me stumped. Anyone have any ideas?

    The idea behind the Windows DHCP and TFTP is that we'd be using an existing server and a NetApp box with NFS license to serve everything off. I would have loved to make a new server which is completely Linux, but my boss, nor the other technician have ever used Linux so if I left for any reason, they'd be stuck if ever they ran in to trouble, which is why I've struggled to get Linux to penetrate our all Windows infrastructure.
    During my hunting around on Google I found a lot of information on making my own initrd, and a lot of it using all manner of switches. I can make them fine, but I figure that I would need to look at extracting the current working one first, adding X, Firefox and the ICA client to it, then compressing it again. Cloop came about when I was looking at DSL's internals. The smaller the initrd, the better, so utilizing this could possibly be a plus too.
    The reason I'm doing this with Archlinux is that I know Arch's internals quite well (and pacman is just wonderous, which is more than I can say for yum), so if I run in to a small problem I'm more likely to fix it without consulting Google. Fair enough though, the NFS booting method is giving me issues I never thought were possible. Ahh, sods law strikes again.
    Addendum: I've noticed something which struck me as odd. Files in the NFS share are somehow owned by 96:scanner instead of root:root. Upon attempting changing, it's telling me "Operation Not Permitted". Further prodding has led me to believe it's an Openfiler thing where GID/UID 96 on the OpenFiler box is "ofgroup"/"ofguest". Chowning / to root:root puts NFS boot right ahead and gives me a prompt, however I cannot log in as root. I've also discovered that chrooting in to the base from my Arch workstation and creating a directory makes the directory owned by ofgroup:ofguest again, so it's an Openfiler thing after all this time. Prodding further.
    Addendum two: For anyone using Openfiler out there, when you allow guest access to the NFS share, be sure to set the Anonymous GID and Anonymous UID to 0. By default it's 96 and as a result when trying to boot you get the errors I experienced. This is insecure and you should use some sort of network/host/ip range restriction. Because the root filesystem has 96:96 as the owner of everything after you install the base layout using pacman (and any changes you make afterward) init and root no longer have the appropriate permissions, user 96:96 (which is "scanner" in Archlinux) has the permissions instead and init, in order to complete boot would need to be "scanner" in order to boot completely.
    Solution is to set Anon GID and Anon UID to 0, chown the entire diskless root filesystem to root, then use a linux desktop to mount the diskless root filesystem, mount /proc, /sys and mount bind /dev, then chroot in to the diskless root filesystem. At this point to clear up any problems with bad passwords, use passwd to change your password. Exit the chroot environment then unmount the diskless proc, sys and dev. Boot up via the network and use your chosen password to log in as root. At this point, start clearing up permissions from the en masse filesystem chown and you should then have a usable diskless root.
    I'll experiment further and clear up some of the remaining permission errors that occured during boot and report on my progress in fixing it. Didn't like the idea of chowning the entire share as root. :S
