Error Unknown auto release pool? Photoshop CS4 disturbance?

I'm getting lots of this system log error message: "attempt to pop an unknown auto release pool." When I first noticed this message it included reference to my Western Digital external drive. I have disconnected the WD but I still get the same message but less frequently. When the WD was connected, the message occurred every ten seconds for so. Is this error disrupting my Mac use. I have been having a lot of issues within Photoshop CS4 (as have many users). Actions will sometimes work, then other times they will not.
I am aware that Snow Leopard and PCS4 are software in technical review, both companies. However, is the "release pool" message part of a compatibility problem?

I disconnected the WD yesterday. Today I deleted the software as I still had messages that referenced the WD. I have noticed that since disconnecting my MacPro starts up faster. The system log report does not seem to indicate the auto release message since deletion of the software. This takes care of the immediate problem, but use of the external drive is not happening. I'll wait for a WD revision of their software. I did send them a screen shot of the messages and expect a reply next week. Thanks for the assist.

    Hi dsalacain,
Are you trying to run the setup from network location. If yes please copy the installation file to the desktop of the Mac and try installing again.

  • Snow Leopard (WWDC Release) and Photoshop CS4

I installed Snow Leopard earlier this week, and have been receiving errors in Photoshop. I've reinstalled Snow Leopard once, Photoshop three (3) times, and still get the same error. I haven't had any issues using the other programs in the Design Premium suite.
"Could not complete your request because of program error."
Typically, I am in the middle of doing something, but there have been many times that I've only photoshop and it begins to give me an error.
If I am working on something and I receive the error, I click "ok"... but it immediately pops up again, and I am then forced to force quit Photoshop, losing all my work.
Anyone else having the same issue?

If you need to get work done you should clone back your old system until Apple fixes all the bugs in the new OS. In the past new OSs become usable around update 4 with Leopard it was more like update 7.

  • Nv4_disp.dll errors blue screen of death photoshop cs4 bridge

Sometimes, when opening psd files from bridge in cs4 I am getting the Blue Screen of Death and a message stating the cause is nv4_disp.dll errors.   This started occurring a few days ago.
Environment: XP Pro, nvidia 7900 GS video card, nvidia driver version 6.14.11.9038. [ 190.38].
Anyone else experience this and has a solution?

I bet you'll sudennly get this error without doing that to cause it soon aswell. I had a very similar problem with BSoD and Nvidia display drivers on 9800GTX GPU. It started just doing it one day completely out of the blue. Unfortinatly, i'm still not sure what caused it, but it seemed when looking around the web that it was in fact faulty drivers, but not necisarily the graphics card drivers, just a conflict with them for somthing trying to work with them.
For me, i did everything under the sun and it worked.
    1. Get Spybot Search & Destroy, COMODO antivirus, Windows Live Onecare 30day free trial, and scan your system with each of them. Each one for me found soemthing new which was fairly unsettling.
    2. Re-install GPU drivers, re-install graphics tablet drivers if you have one, because that was thelast thing i had changed since i startd to get them, but it was a good few weeks afterwards, and it didn't fix it doing that anyway, but it may have helped somthing else work properly so just to be safe. Re-install anything you last installed, or remove it if you are willing.
    3. Disk defragment, Disk Cleanup, and run Clean Up Utilities. To help track down other problems, you can also download Regmon for windows made by microsoft: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896652.aspx you can see what your computer is douing in the registery. The other one to download is Filemon, which is the same thing but shows what your computer processes are doing. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896642.aspx
Good luck, but presistence in not wanting to re-install windows will overcome it evertually

  • Error 1603. Photoshop CS4

Alright, so I recently got Photoshop CS4, for some odd reason when I had to do a system restore, it messed up. Not sure why, but I got the screen to accept or decline the user end license agreement, when I clicked to accept it, it just went away and nothing happened. So I uninstalled it, and tried reinstalling it, now every time I try, it gets right to the end, where it's installing Adobe Bridge CS4 and it comes up with an error saying it had problems installing photoshop CS4 and then asks me if I want to continue with the installation, I click continue, and it finishes, but I get an error message at the end again. When I click more information I get this:
    Adobe Photoshop CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.
    Adobe Photoshop CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.

    Error:

    Adobe Device Central CS4
    Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation.
I'm not sure why I'm getting this error, please tell me someone knows what the hell is going on here? Lol. Because people are going to ask here are my specs:
Model: HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC
    OS: Windows Vista
    RAM: 2g
    Free HD space: 170g
    Complete HD space: 250g
    Processor: AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60 (2 CPUs), ~2.0GHz
BIOS: PhoenixBIOS 4.0 Release 6.1 (you probably won't need this, lol)
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M
All help is EXTREMELY appreciated. :D Thanks in advance.

I just got the trial version to install after trying for 12 hrs.
I'm on Vista Home basic, acer laptop, I tried everything ..
I edited the registry (see this post
Alan Musgrove, "critical error during PS CS4 installation" #20, 22 Jan 2009 12:56 pm and deleated the keys back to default), turned off firewall and anti virus, disconnected from the internet, shut down all my running programs including the acer empowering technology application( using windows taks manager) ran adobe wincleancs4 script twice, then cs3 clean script, made sure the adobe cs4 trial file that I downloaded was on my desk top, then turned off the uac (user account control).
Whilst running the clean up scripts to level 2 (maximum) I also chose the option to remove the adobe media player . One of the clean up scripts gives the option to do this, can't remember which one.
I already have shockwave player and reader 9.1 installed, but I chose to install all the items on the trial. It worked like a dream.
I tried every fix you could imagine before, but IMHO it was probably running Both clean scripts to (level 2 with the remove media player option) as explained and finally turning off the UAC that did the trick.
Maybe if I'd turned off the uac first. I may not have had to do the others.
all in all, by doing everything above, it finally worked.
    Hope that helps someone.
    Thanks all.

  • Photoshop CS4 - Windows XP/64bit

So, i recently brought Adobe Production Premium CS4, and like alot of people, Photoshop is definatly one of my main tools of trade. I use it primarily for digital painting. However, i currently run the program on Windows XP 32bit, 500GB Hard Drive, 4GB RAM (Seen as 2.6GB due to being only 32bit...annoying i know), 9800 GTX NVidia graphics card, and a 2.4ghz Quad Core processor. This runs very fast with most programs, but not Photoshop CS4 it does not. It isn't as bad as it used to be, but still runs like crap, and is making it almost impossible to paint/draw fast at all. I have all OpenGL support, on, as my computer should be able to handle it fine as it has no problem with other applications such as Maya, but even with this off it still runs slowly.
After monitoring Photoshop resource usage on my PC, i realized it page-files about 2GB of Page file or more, and seems to only really use my first and last processor cores. So i was wondering, if i updated my operating system to Windows XP 64bit, would this make a very noticable difference to its preformance to make it more like CS3 or 7.0, or would this be practically pointless? I am trying to stay away from Vista due to the fact that i generally dont like it, and its compatability problems are annoying. So are there any bugs/things i should know before spending money to get 64bit XP, or should i change somthing on 32bit? or is there even a good noticable difference? Or am i unfortinatly better off upgrading to vista? Or does anyone happen to know how windows 7 will act with it yet?
    Thanks, Ricky

    Interesting....
My graphics card has no option to fource what it uses to render, and Photoshop CS4 aprantly is only programed to use OpenGL anyway. Ironically, after creating this topic, i found out about Adobe's update release of Photoshop CS4 11.0.1, which i didnt have installed. I have it now, and it has definatly made one hell of a big diffeence!! However, the program still lags in many places. Navigating around the image and clicking the text tool (which used to be very slow for whatever reason), are much faster now, however i am still quite confused about one thing it still insists on doing:
I tested 11.0.1. I found it much faster. However, memory usage still seemed a little off. It started at 0.99GB (is what task manager said, even though that is a weird way to say it....), which is much betetr than before. I opened a document of about 3000px width, and 2000px height. It came to using about 1.16GB pagefile then. I painted all over it rapidly to see how much the lag had improved, and i zoomed in and out fast and really shook it around to see if it lagged there, which it didn't...so good news. BUT, then i close the image, and the pagefile goes UP? to 1.28GB... And then drops down to 1.21GB..and stays there. I open another image that was 141.5MB. The pagefile went upto only 1.25GB, and the preformance was really good still....unlike it was in photoshop 7.0 for some reason even though ive always called Photoshop 7.0 to be the most stable realease of it yet....
So i don't really know what to think now. Is there a problem? After closing the image the pagefile was still at 1.25GB, so it didnt drop down the memory like it should have for some reason. I think CS3 had a similar problem that eventually caused an error sayign there is not enough RAM avalible, even if the image was tiny, and i still had 2.5GB of RAM. Some how i got around that by saving the image in PS 7.0, and the opening it in CS3, then it didnt care for some reason.
blizzman, do you have another hard drive for Photoshop to use as a scratch disk? I was thinking of getting a 74GB 10,000 rpm hard drive for it and other programs, but i was wondering if it really requires it for a difference? Below is an image of my task manager with photoshop preferences if anyone has any suggestions?
    Thanks for the reply blizzman.

  • Why does my Photoshop CS4 keep shutting down

My Photoshop will not open.  It gets to initializing menus and then an error pops up saying, "Adobe Photoshop CS4 has stopped working."  I know others have dealt with this but I have not been able to overcome it.  Here is what I have done:
    I have reinstalled the software
    updated the monitor drivers
changed the color management to RGB instead of the Samsung that was there
updated my video card drivers (Nvidia Quadro FX4800)
    checked for photoshop updates
    updated my wacom drivers (intuos4)
    deleted my preferences
updated my aja drivers (AJA LHi Xena)
    Tried to run as administrator
I don't have any Microsoft Office products on this machine.  I don't have a virus.  I pretty much ONLY have Adobe  products on it other than Itunes and McAfee.  I have added the AJA I/O and Cineform Prospect HD.
PLEASE HELP  I am tired of messing with it.
    Josh

Z800 workstation with dual quad core 2.8ghz processors with a single 1tb harddrive and 12 gb of ram.  I run my video and stuff from an external esata drive and have over half of the internal drive open.
I have tried the .exe run as administrator
    It is 11.0.1
Not really sure how to look at the event log
McAfee is not blocking it as I have tried it with that completely off
I did reset all the prefs

  • Mac OS 10.7.2 and Photoshop CS4 11.0.2

New to forums, please help if you can.
I have an Apple networked user that is getting the following error when trying to launch Photoshop CS4. Other users can successfully launch Photoshop and error occurs on all networked iMacs for the 'problem' user.
We have tried to solve the problem by reseting preferences, but this did not correct the problem.
    Thanks in advance!

Error message at launch of Photoshop:
"Could not initialize Photoshop because the file is locked. Use the Get Infor command in the Finder to unlock the file."
I right-clicked the PS icon and chose Get Info. However, the Locked checkbox is not checked (so it is already unlocked).

Okay, I found a solution. Since it was just tied to the one network user, I knew it had to be one of the "support" files created in the User's ~/Library Folder. So, I did a little trial and error (after confirming it was indeed just Photoshop and none of the other CS4 suite apps.
Anyway, I deleted the ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop CS4 Settings Folder. Then, when launching Photoshop this gets re-created.
    So, all is well!
