I am getting the following error UNKNOWN\components\7ABFE44842C12B390AF18C3B9B1A1EE8\000021599B0090400100000000F 01FEC. I have tried everything but cannot get it to work. The last thing I did was revert back to a previous version. That won't open at all because it's saying the library was created in a newer version of iTunes. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a solution?

After following instructions for three different solutions that did NOT work; I found the solution that did work
on the support site for Syamntec.
Readers - Please, you must be VERY familiar with pc jargon and windows vernacular to accomplish the reset
of ALL the permissions in your registry.
Follow the ditrections below and pay attention to the notes for those running 64bit Win7.
Step one, back up the registry.
Step two, go to the MS KB: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=e8ba3e56-d8fe-4a91-93cf -ed6985e3927b&displaylang=en and download the file that installs subinacl. It is an MSI file, and will do a quick install of a few Microsoft files. Hint: Look in the folder listed below, "subinacle.exe" may already be there.
Step three, create a batch file (subinacle.bat) with the following commands: (Use Notepad - copy & paste, not the red stuff)
cd /d "Program Files\Windows Resource Kits\Tools" (only for 32bit/x86 machines)
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subdirectories %SystemDrive% /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subdirectories %windir%\*.* /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
For 64bit machines substitute for first line of bat file:
cd /d "c:\program files (x86)\windows resource kits\tools"
Step four, run the batch file. Let it run until the Command Prompt screen closes, may take 30 minutes or more.
Step five, reboot the machine and run the install again.
Ladies and Gentlemen; this worked for me and allowed immediate installation of two application packages I had been trying for three months! (Including ITunes 10.5)

In answering this, B Noir had it almost correct. What he missed was that in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData \S-1-5-18\Components one must also make sure that when right clicking on components/permissions, that the active user is allowed Full Control.

I was able to fix this in Windows Server 2008 R2 . With ine instructions provided here

3. Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions from this object in permissions tab
4. I don't find the owner tab

It depends on what version you had, whether you are running 674-bit Windows and whether Vista/7 but help us out too. Then as always google the error with "apple itunes" and see.

After my power supply died and i got a new better one my itunes has acting up..
First I could not start itunes because the icon pointed too a disk that never existed.
So first I had problems unstalling. And now I have problems installing..

On occasion, the Fixit from the following Microsoft document can have some effect on recalcitrant versions of this error:
Fix problems with programs that can't be installed or uninstalled
Check in both uninstalling and installing mode. Check for any issues with Apple Mobile Device Support and Bonjour as well as iTunes (updates to those components in the iTunes installer bundles have also been known to throw the Unknown\Components\ errors).

I am getting a "File Error:Unknown file" when i try and save my project. So i am not able to save any changes i make to my project. any thoughts?

"File error: unknown file" upon movie import

Got a DVD. Extracted the footage with Mac the ripper. Created an mp4 file with Handbrake. It plays fine in Quicktime at 720 by 480 and 23.98 FPS. I've tried importing it into FCP and I get the error, "File error: unknown file". FCP sequence presents are 24 FPS...I've also tried switching it to 23.98 FPS. I've re-encoded the movie in Quicktime to a .mov file with "DV/DVCPRO - NTSC" compression and it still will not import. Any suggestions?

Tried making an AVI in Handbrake. Handbrake just froze everytime and it would never finish.
I should also note that FFMpeg did not like the footage either and would not convert it to a file of any kind.
So I put the DVD into a consumer DVD player and used my Panasonic DVX100B camera to record the footage in VCR mode. The tape turned out fine.
BUT...
I am trying to capture the footage from another low end Canon camera. Usually there is no problem. However, with this particular footage from this cursed DVD, I get a "general error" when I try to capture the footage in FCP.
No matter what file format or media is used, this footage will not import into FCP. It must be watermarked to not like FCP.
Any further suggestions???
