Error unknown message when saving ai file

Several days ago I got an external hard drive to backup. Had an error message saying all wasn't saved right. I use CS2 suite, all works fine except my illustrator files will not save as ai. They will save as jpeg, pdf, eps, but not ai. Error unknown message window popsup. Also 3/4 of my file names have turned from black to blue. I have reinstalled CS2 and this didn't fix the problem. What went wrong? How can this be fixed? I'm working on a book using Illustrator files alot.

PC - Windows, no fonts were installed. Only the ai files are affected. But nearly 3/4 of all file extension names have changed from black to blue. No big deal on that, but the ai saving is very upsetting.

I just upgraded my FrameMaker program to 7.2.
When I try to save my work, the following message appears on-screen:
An internal error occurred while writing imported graphics in this document. The file has been saved, but has lost some image data. Please report this error to Adobe Technical Support.
My file has NOT been saved, none of the changes I've made have been saved. I cannot save this file under a different name, either. And the automated files that are generated by the program as "back-up" files are useless.

Anyway, that's the standard error message when a file contains objects imported using an OLE link AND you are running XP SP3.
SP3 implemented security fixes that essentially broke OLE within Frame (and a number of other applications).
So if your document(s) contain OLE links, you're likely to have to convert them to imported-by-reference graphics if they're graphic files or do some other type of conversion if they're tables or PPT slides.

CS5 - "Not Responding" message when saving large files??

For quite some time now, I have been getting a message in the Save Progress Bar Dialogue that says "Not Responding" .... after I start saving a file. The progress bar will advance about 20%, then it will say (Not Responding) in the box.... and then it will disappear and the file will save.
It's very disconcerting to see this error pop up time-after-time when saving files.
I also get this error when opening certain files.
Anybody else get this error?
The files may typically have several 'placed' files from Photoshop.... which is another topic and unresolved problem with Illustrator too.
Anything to worry about??

I have an Intel i7 with 12gbs of ram, a fast SAS boot drive, and plenty of bells and whistles in the 'power' department.

Have you already tried saving the file to a different location (maybe on the other drive)?
Just to find out if it's Illustrator or the drive.

Error message when saving a file in DW -CS6

When I go to save a file in Dreamweaver CS6, using Windows 7 -
I get this error message.
"While Executing onLoad in bc_afterSave.htm, the follwing javascript errors occured"

onload is not defined
Everything was fine for years now I get this annoying error message. The file saves but the error message always pops up.
I am using the Adobe Application Manager and getting my software through the Adobe Cloud.
I tried deleting the configuration file with th expectation that DW would automatically create a new one but that did not work.
I'd hate to have to unintsall and reinstall DW because I have dozens of sites that I would need to resetup

I'm attaching the file at fault - 'bc_aftersave.htm' in this thread. Download and restore it to the following folder:
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\<language>\Configuration\Commands
Locate the file bc_aftersave.htm, replace that file with the one I'm attaching here to see if it solves the issue.

Error Message When Saving a File

I'm running PSE 10 on a Mac OSX 10.6.8. When I tried to save a file recently I received the following message: "Could not save as FILENAME because you do not have necessary access privileges". It occurred when I attemped to save as a PSD and JPG.

How do I avoid error message when saving combined files?

I combined about 350 .pdf files into a single .pdf file using Acrobat 8 Pro. Total file size is about 3.5GB. I can assemble them in a correct order but saving them results in the following error message: "The document could not be saved. A file I/O error has occured."
I tried doing a "Save As" with no luck. However, I was able to save about half the files (1.6GB) with no problem as a separate combine process. I suspect it's a file size problem. Is there a file size limit? More important, is there a solution/work around?

break the file in two parts. Not a great solution, but on that will allow
me to move forward.

File locked message when saving a file with Photoshop

We've been seeing a problem with several users that is hard to reproduce. Every once in a while when they try to save a file in Photoshop on the server they get a dialogue saying 'the file is locked, use Finder info to unlock the file'.
This file is located on the server and the problem only happens when doing a 'Save', not with a 'Save as'. The server is running 10.5.5 and the clients are 10.4.11. This is happening with Photoshop versions CS1, 2 and 3. It also happend with Illustrator CS3 once.
We've been experimenting with different scenario's using different ACL's and POSIX settings. Also, when the client reboots their machine the exact same 'Save' actions works again.

I've been receiving complaints about a similar issue over the past few weeks, except using Quark and Excel. I wonder if it's related to the 10.5.5 update. Are you sure you didn't get the version numbers reversed in your post? We're having the issue with 10.4.11 SERVER and 10.5.5. CLIENTS.
It's a file locking issue, so you probably won't fix it by changing the ACLs or POSIX permissions. The server thinks a different process still has the file open, so it's preventing you from changing the file. "Save As" works because it creates a new file.
You can probably eject & reconnect the volume from the client instead of fully rebooting.
The question is what's keeping the file open. You can run:
sudo lsof | grep <filename>
... in Terminal to see whether a given Mac has the file open. If the server comes back with a response to that command (don't worry what it says - you just want to see if anything comes back), then you know that the file is locked.
Next, go to each client that could have the file open and run the same command. If none of them have it open, you're probably looking at the same glitch that I've been. The server thinks a file is open but none of the clients do.

Error unknown message when trying to download an app and logging in? Fix?

Is anyone else having this problem when trying to log into the app store or hitting the "install button" of the app and trying to log in? Is there anyway to fix it?? I haven't been able to download any apps on this macbook pro.

Also, I am able to log into itunes just fine. It is only when trying to log in the app store that I seem to be unable to proceed any further than typing my password. All the input information is correct.

I have this issue too, but my colleagues do not have this issue(we have same Acrobat Pro 11.0.09). I am sure this issue happens only you updated to 11.0.09, because when you use Windows Restore back to 11.0.08, no issues.

I did copy it to my desktop, but it still won't let me open it. I think the file on the disc might be corrupt or something like that though the cd itself checks out fine as far as viruses go. I was able to verify the disc, but that's about it. My husband tried it on his iMac and we have the same issue. It's unzipping the folder, but won't let us open the folder on both the Mac Book Pro or the iMac by double clicking, going to file/open or right clicking. It just keeps saying the same message as I posted above. I think I'm just going to have the client put the pictures on either a memory card or a USB memory stick so she won't have to compress the files for zipping purposes. It's been too frustrating trying to open this folder on this cd she gave me. She said she created/zipped the cd on her Mac Book Pro but it sure won't open on mine.

The subject header just about says it all. This is the first action I took with MAX - it is a fresh install. The file I wanted to save was still written and the FP seems to be working ok. However, I need to know what happened.

Hi,
I did a research on your error message and it seems this problem was introduced with MAX 4.6. This version switched to a new error reporting mechanism and reports even errors that are which are not critical to your task.
These errors typically show up as "unexpected" and if your error falls into this category have a look to this KB for further assistance.
If it doesn't fall into this category, your could try to go back to the MAX 4.5 or 4.4.. Of course you would need to reinstall some components and might not be able to use newer drivers at all.

Get error 7 message when trying to open iTunes in windows vista

All of a studded my windows vista 64 bit computer will not open iTunes. It has a error 7 message. I have tried removing it according to supports instructions with no luck. One problem that I had is that it told you to delete the iTunes folder in the common files and it would not let me do that but everything else deleted.still no luck when I reinstalled, any help would be appreciated. I also tried updating the net framework, no luck.

FrameMaker crashes when saving a file as XML

Hello -
I am encountering a problem saving a .fm file as a .xml file. I have saved many .fm files as .xml files in the past with no issues. However, lately FM crashes with a "serious error" on certain files when I try the same save process. My initial thought was that the file was somehow corrupted, but this morning I ran into this scenario: I have 3 FM licenses in my office, I was trying to save a .fm file as .xml and FM kept crashing. So I had another co-worker try to save the exact same file as a .xml file and it WORKED!?!?!?!
We all were using FM 11, but I have since installed FM 12 thinking that version 12 wouldnt have the same problem, but the same issue is happening with both versions of FM. I read that FM has issues when working across a network so I have tried it both ways, across the network and locally and the same issue occurs.
Again, this problem occurs occasionally on various files - not every file, but as previously mentioned I was able to successfully save a file on a different machine that I could not save on my machine. I have the most recent log file that was generated after a crash:

An update -
So FM now appears to crash "sometimes" when saving as an xml file AND when saving the file in general. I have 3 machine with FramMaker installed, first with version 11 now with version 12. These 3 machines are all identical as far as SW running on them, etc... I have been unable to detect a pattern as to when FM will crash thus far. Sometimes it will crash when I try to save the file as an .xml file and sometimes it will save just fine. I have resorted to marking up the document a little at a time, saving the file, then trying to save as an XML file. It will work sometimes and other times it will crash. Sometimes it crashes when trying to save the .fm file other times it works; sometimes it will crash when I try to save the .fm file as a .xml file, other times it will work. About the only thing in common that I have found thus far is the fact that it happens with the same file over and over again; meaning that if I have a pool of 12 files that I need to load into FM and markup, 11 of the 12 files may work just fine and the 12 file will not - it will crash FM at some point in the markup/saving process every time. One might guess that the original file is somehow corrupt and that may be, but at this point I am not sure how I prove that is the case as FM seems to load it in just fine and I can save it right off the bat just fine. Does anyone know how I can prove that the structured file i receive initially is corrupt when it loads into FM fine? If we were causing some issue with the import of our modified EDD then why dont we have the same issue with the other 11 files in the batch as they all are using the same EDD?
I have sent my most recent log files to adobe tech support this morning. I have tried saving files on shared drives as well as on local drives. I have tried the same process on the other workstations with the same results.
Does anyone have ideas on how I can isolate a problem with the source file (structured doc) or on why FM is crashing when I perform these actions?
