Error updating to iTunes 11.1.4
When updating iTunes to 11.1.4, I received an error that says it encountered an error installing, and to select Tools and click on download only. However when I try to open iTunes, I get the error "The program can't start because MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. Should I uninstall before downloading? Will I have to re-register, or can I download using my existing Apple ID? Will I lose songs in my library? Thanks for any help.
I'm experiencing the same problem! I couldn't update it and when I turned on the laptop again, the iTunes disappeared. I had to recover the system. Still can't update it...

My computer popped up with an update from iTunes several days ago. I downloaded the update. When I went to open iTunes on my computer, it gives me the following error messages...
Missing MSVCR80.dll file.
Error 7 (Windows error 126)
I tried to download iTunes again from the website and repair the problem, to no avail. I've tried several times, but cannot get it to open. I have a Windows 7 machine. My iPhone 5 and iPad work fine and have not asked me to update. I've never had a problem with iTunes before. I hate to delete it entirely from my computer and start over. I'm afraid I'll lose all the music I have downloaded there. What do I do?Try the following user tip:

I updated to iTunes 12 and didn't like it. Followed advice to revert to 11.1. Now my iPhone 5 won't sync and error message says I need iTunes 11.2 or higher. Apple Download choices didn't have anything between 11.1.5 and 12. What can I do? Using iTunes 12 is not an option. Many features I used for audiobooks have disappeared.
The version immediately prior to 12 was 11.4.0.18. Here are direct download links from Apple's servers:

Is there a bug with the latest update to iTunes because I am unable to install it, I get constant error messages if I try to open it after installing
Hey there Mambo822,
It sounds like you are unable to open iTunes after installing a recent update. I would recommend the troubleshooting in the following article:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I keep getting the following error message when I try to update my itunes, "There is a problem with this windows installer package. Aprogram run as part of the set up did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
Yes, I had found a similar solution also. I'm running XP Pro, SP3. I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair. Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess. Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes. Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing. I haven't begun to work on that. -
I cannot update or install updates on itunes. It says that the location for that file does not exist. I cant even uninstall itunes as the same error message comes up.
