Error uploading published course to LMS

I am receiving an error message when I try to upload a published course into my LMS.  The file is really big (583 MB) so not sure if that is the problem.  I have been able to upload all my other published courses - which are smaller - with no problems.

You're probably correct that the sheer size of the SCORM package is the problem.  Most LMS servers have some kind of upper limit on the upload size.  This is usually in the range of 50-100 megabytes, though I have seen several that were lower than 20 meg.  I've never seen an LMS that would welcome a 500 meg SCORM by default.
Error messages are not often going to tell you EXACTLY what the issue is. So check with the LMS Administrator to find out what the upload size limit is.

  • Error when launching a SCORM course in LMS

I've been publishing SCORM courses from Captivate to my LMS (Training Partner) for several years without any problems.  I recently upgraded to CP 6 (6.0.1.240) and now when I launch the module from my LMS I get a message that says:
Does anyone have an idea as to what might cause this?
    Thanks for your help!!

I have Training Partner (Geometrix) LMS installed - been using this one for over four years.
    My workflow is:
    1. Publish Captivate module to a folder with SCORM reporting enabled
    2. Copy the published folder to the LMS content web server
    3. Create course in LMS configured for SCORM reporting
    4. Link for course module points to the .htm file in the course folder
I've used this approach without any issues up until I installed CP6.  Now I get the error message on modules published with SCORM reporting enabled.  The message does not appear when LMS reporting is not selected.

  • LSO - Publish Course Content error

    Hi All
We are having a problem publishing course content from the Learning Solution Admin role.
Content type is set to "Single File". I am able to navigate to the source file and also the target folder.
I then click on Publish, and the message to say that it is being published in the background.
However, when I go back to the Published Content view, I see the upload in error with a status = "Failed" and the progress indicator stuck on 14%. All subsequent upload attempts end with the same progress percentage...
Any idea what the problem could be?
    thanks in advance
    Anton Kruse

    Hi Anton,
Assuming rest of your confirguration in place, check if there are no issues with the content. Validate if it is SCORM. If you have Authoring Environment installed then you could check the content by trying to import it through Authoring Environment. If there are any errors then an error is displayed.

  • Adobe Muse won't publish (Error uploading file)

After making simple animations using Adobe Edge Animate it seems as though none of the assets will publish with my site after importing them into Muse.
In Edge animate I saved for "web animation" and published. Then I went to muse and hit "place". I went to preview and everything works fine. When I go to publish there are always errors in uploading my assets with '.png' extensions.
Any help is much appreciated. I have completely scrapped my website and created another, reinstalled Animate and have renamed all my files, I'm not sure whats wrong here.
I got one animation working, and that can be seen here under the Photography section, but I have multiples that will be shown on my page at one time.

I get the error uploading file everytime I try publishing the animation.

  • I'm using Captivate 8 and publishing courses to our LMS.  As an end user, I can complete a course using IE, but not Chrome.  Is there a setting that I am missing for other browsers?

I'm using Captivate 8 and publishing courses to our LMS, Cornerstone OnDemand.  As an end user, I can complete a course using IE, but cannot complete the same course when using Chrome.  Is there a setting that I am missing for other browsers?

guess what it says java file. So yes i'm sure. Sarcasm. Not the best way to encourage a total stranger to help you. Then there's
Sorry if i wasn't more clear but was that response needed? No it wasn't needed, but I'm not the one asking for help so I have the luxury of not worrying too much about it. It's extremely frustrating trying to drag relevant information out of someone, and makes one less inclined to bother.
Anyways, there's still nothing in this thread that actually explicitly says "there is a file called VolcanoApp.java in the directory where I'm running javac from" and I really can't be bothered banging my head against the wall any longer. You've made a silly mistake, or a false assumption. We all do it from time to time. My advice is, take a break, go for a walk and re-visit this in a while. You'll probably spot the mistake right away.

  • Sudden Loading Issue with CP7 Courses on LMS

These courses published with CP7 were working fine on the LMS, suddenly none of them would load for users on the company's network. External learners are still able to launch the courses with no problem. What is interesting is that all the other courses created in other authoring tools are still loading on and off the network. Any ideas anyone?

Adding additional information about this problem.  This appears to be related to issues between Chrome and the Captivate 8 course, but I am not certain exactly why.  Today I redid the Captivate 8 file, using a working Captivate 7 file.  I published the course using Captivate as a SCORM 2004 course.  I tested the course in the SCORM Cloud and it opened correctly to the Opening screen of the course.
Next I uploaded the course to Maestro using IE11 as my browser. The course opened properly when I previewed it from course record.  NO blank screen.
I then went into Maestro using Chrome 36 as my browser ( which is what I routinely use) and created another course -- uploaded the same file for this course. The blank screen with the playbar appeared when I previewed the course from the course record.
Still in the LMS with Chrome as the browser, I then went to the course that I had uploaded using IE11 as the browser -- got the blank screen again.  Does this confirm that the issue is related to Chrome 36 breaking all Captivate HTML5 content?

  • Error with published content

I published a course on our LMS hosted by Net Dimensions. I
published the course in SCORM 1.2 and successfully uploaded the
content. When we open the course, we receive a message from the
flash player 9 : "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash
PLayer 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, you computer may
become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?" If I choose
yes, it never starts and computer almost froze. If I choose "no",
it won't run. I tested several PC's with different config and I get
the same result. I confirmed with our admin and our LMS support
SCORM 1.2. We do have other courses published on our LMS with
Articulate SCORM 1.2 that do works.

    Thank you for answer.
Actually I dont have a problem with the movies if there is no
scrolling or loading pictures in it.
I have a problem if I put scrolling text in some of
moviclips. In this example I put scrollin text in "bbc". And after
this moviclip "bbc" appears in different places with the different
    screen resolution.
If I dont put scrolling text there, everything is completely
    ok.
Dont know how to fix this.

  • 404 error when publishing to FTP server.

I'm getting the 404 error when publishing my iWeb site to my FTP server.  Please help.
It says I have a good connection and publishes but then I get the error when I "Click to go to the site."  I've read where I have to upload the file to my server but with the file index_html.  Do I rename my iWeb file, domain, to index_html?

I'm getting the 404 error when publishing my iWeb site to my FTP server.  Please help.
It says I have a good connection and publishes but then I get the error when I "Click to go to the site."
A 404 errors means the file is not on the server.
Checking the connection is just testing the FTP connection.
I've read where I have to upload the file to my server but with the file index_html.  Do I rename my iWeb file, domain, to index_html?
Do I rename my iWeb file, domain, to index_html?
No, you don't. The domain file is where iWeb  stores its assets. It stays on your computer. It has no meaning outside it. iWeb publishes the index.html file and all the other files.
Read this : The concept of iWeb Sites
So if your pages do not load, check for their presence on the server.

  • "Error intitializing communications with the LMS" in Captivate 8.0.1

After updating to 8.0.1.242 and publishing projects as SCORM 1.2 in html5, I get the error message "Error intitializing communications with the LMS" both in the LMS we use and in ScormCloud. This happens in IE 10.0.9200. I am pretty sure we have not had this message before. I had a colleague generate the same project for me using 8.00.145 and I get no error message. Any input on what causes this would be appreciated.

Can you share your project on id: [email protected]
we will try to investigate this at our end. Also please send the exact steps how you are able to get this error.

  • Error when publishing to Business Catalyst

I got the following error while I was publishing the site:
"Error uploading file bg-tile.png. Click Resume to try again. If this problem persists, try again later."
    What should I do?

    Hello,
Are you using the Muse file provided in the sample file?  I just tested it using the Publish.muse file and was able to publish without error.
    Thank you,

  • Frequent "Error: Upload Failed" errors.

I've been getting reports from my faculty members that every time they try to upload media to their course, they get "Error: Upload Failed". I tested it this morning and I'm getting this error as well.
Is iTunes U having problems or is there a way to find out a cause for this error?
    Our site is ucf.edu.
    Thanks,
    Jason

    Hello Duncan,
Has a solution been found yet? We are having the same issue crop up for our internal iTunes U site (https://deimos.apple.com/WebObjects/Core.woa/BrowsePrivately/su.edu).
Additional information: we've noticed that (prior to the "Error: Upload Failed" message) when the upload begins, it says "In Queue" but never changes to "1.0 of 20.0 mb," "3.4 of 20.0 mb," etc.
We've seen this issue when accessing the Upload and Manage Files page through Firefox, Safari, and Chrome.
We are looking at weather cancellations possible in the next few days and really need to be able to upload material to iTunes U to continue classes.
    Thanks,
    Dave

  • ITunes U - "error upload failed"

    Greetings everyone,
A similar thread from January of this year discussed this topic for another institution but the exact same error seems to be affecting us here at our institution but only on certain students PC's.
We have been tracking the issue trying to get their OS, web browser(s), iTunes version, etc; but nothing seems to be a commen thread to this that we can find thus far...
    Our site is baker.edu.
Most errors just have "error upload failed - try again"
Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Regards,
    Josh

    Thanks for your responses Duncan!
Here we have presentational courses where students use a webcam to record a speech (usually in a wmv file format) then they use a program called M2Convert to get it into the .mp4 style formatting..After that they go from Blackboard into iTunes U, cleck on a "upload and manage files" link and then go ahead and upload their file...
As for opening the file in iTunes I haven't had the students try yet but generally speaking it will play once we upload it. Most times we have the student upload the file to our servers then download it for them and upload it on our end.
Trying to find out if this may not have anything to do with your end or if it's something on our side because the common thread just doesn't seem to be showing up (so far anyway)..
    Appreciate your time and feedback!
    Thanks!
    Josh

  • Server response: "Error uploading file *-sprite.png. There was no respone from the server....."

Hi, I am experiencing a publish upload problem from Muse.
Upload to publish starts and continues until I reach uploading images 1-431.
After a few moments the following error is dashboarded:
    >> Error uploading file u19121-sprite.png. There was no response from the server. Check your network connection, and try again. If this problem persists, try again later. <<
Server connections my side are fast and OK
    Please advise.
Would I be correct that the receiving server at Business Catalyst is just busy? I notice it does start to continue uploading, however it does come up with similar errors further along the image count upload.
