Error VTM-0005 in Performance Manager
From the OEM console I'm starting Performance Manager. The tool starts, but when I try to "Connect to Service..." I get the following error:
VTM-0005: Error connecting to server
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused
Clearly, the node is recognized and the agent is running, or I wouldn't be able to start the console (right?). So why can't I get a connection to a host that I've already gotten a connection to?
I've looked in the documentation, but all I can find is the recommendation to call Oracle support. Since I'm already pushing 40 and would like an answer before I retire, I thought I'd try here first.
Thanks for any advice you can offer,
Rich
I did a search on "vtm-0005" and found a thread in the "platforms/linux" forum. Apparently you have to start the data gatherer by using the vppcntl command, though I couldn't find any reference to that in any of the Oracle docs that I checked. Now that I've started it, Performance Manager seems to be working.

PDF Error in Performance Management
Hi
When launching the Performance Management link from Manager Self Service (Role) --> Talent Management --> Performance Management I am getting the PDF error. Seems the page is trying to open the form in PDF, instead I want it to be displayed in html itself.
For Travel Expense form I have changed the URL parameter "sap.xss.tra.UsePdf=true" for the resource EMPLOYEE_TRAVEL_TRIPFORM_SRV05.
What is the PCD Object and the resource key for the corresponding Performance Management iView.
Thanks,
MurthyDid you get this error in the initial landing page?
Please detail out the error. And for the pcd location, it depends on the role you created unless you are using standard objects.
This iview should have a webdynpro application. -
Error when opening Capacity Planner and Performance Manager
Hello,
I am having an error when opening Performance Manager or Capacity Planner under 9i OEM in our environment. I started at the company about 2 months ago, and have not used these tools until yesterday - and just found these errors. Below is a link to a screenshot of the errors. Does anybody have any ideas?
http://www.webgenstudios.com/misc_images/ora1.jpg
Thanks,
-BobWhich are the contents of the log file produced during installation of OEM...????
OEM was installed on its host machine about 4 years ago, long before I started with this company. I don't know if the logs are still there or not. Where should I be looking?
Do all other parts of OEM operate successfully...????
Yes, everything besides Cap Planner & Perf Mgr.
Is this in Standalone Mode or Oracle Management Server Mode?
The issue occurs in both modes. -
Error While performance management FIRST Approval
Hi,
I am getting the below error when i try to do First Approval in Performance management cycle.
"You cannot submit the selected performance document s because the documents are not eligible for approval".
Please guide me as in where i can check whether my performance document is eligible for approval or not ??
Thanks,
VinodHi sathish,
waste approval can be created after business partner creation and assignment.
in transaction waa02, create generator, generation and disposal channel. then you select for which generation and disposal channel you want to create waste approval.
go to waste approval tab and give inputs like set status 01(in progress), authwasteappr number(plant_disposer_transporter), waste approval tyoe(0001), disposal doc type based on country eg for india (WD_IN), then validity period. press enter waste approval numer will be assigned internally.
then select the created waste approval and assign waste code, partners and disposal channel details.
This is the procedure to create waste approval. hope this will help you. if still error comes send your steps and screenshot to [email protected]

Error on Flexible Performance Management Appraisal Document
Hello Experts,
We are in the process of building Performance Management using Enhancement Package 4 in ECC 6.0. I am having issues with getting the Appraisal Document to work for MSS. Just to clarify too, I have no experience with Performance Management and the fact that we are using Enhancement package 4, our Functional consultants are not sure what to expect either. One more thing, the SICF service is activated.
*) When trying to preview the Appraisal Document (com.sap.pct.erp.mss.hap_document), I am receiving a Portal Run Time error.
*) When I go into SE80, I am using Package u2018PAOC_HAP_DOCUMENT_WD_UIu2019 to run a test on Web Dynpro Application HAP_MAIN_DOCUMENT, I am receiving u2018Access via 'NULL' object reference not possible.u2019
*) When I go into SE80, I am using Package u2018PAOC_HAP_DOCUMENT_WD_UIu2019 to run a test on Web Dynpro Configuration HAP_AC_MAIN_DOC, I am receiving u201Cu2018Error in Calling Up Applicationu2019 The Web Dynpro application was called up with the wrong URL parametersu201D.
QUESTIONS:
1) Do I have to implement Generic Performance Management (com.sap.pct.erp.mss.14.generic_performance_management) to call the appraisal document?
2) Is there any special configuration that needs to be done to make the HAP_MAIN_DOC work (portal or R/3)?
3) Do I need to manually create an SICF service for this?
4) Is there any documentation on how to implement the Flexible?
Any direction would be appreciated.
Thank you,
MikeHello H2R,
I copied the Iview Generic Performance Management (com.sap.pct.erp.mss.14.generic_performance_management) with Application Name 'HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI_MSS' and the Application Configuration Name 'HAP_START_PG_POW_MSS_AC'.
Activated the SICF services of 'hap_main_document', 'HAP_START_PG_POW_MSS_AC', 'HAP_START_PAGE_POWL_UI_MSS. Also, I would activate the services that begin with 'HAP' that l thought that I would need.
In SE80, there are 2 locations to find these Applications: 1) Web Dynpro Comp./Intf. = FPM_OIF_COMPONENT and 2) Package = PAOC_HAP_DOCUMENT_WD_UI.
As for the notes, we are on SAPK-60420INEAHRGXX, these are the notes that we applied:
1468466 - PM Launchpad Config
1463821 - PM Portal Config
1416756 - OBN Config in PM
1408243 - Config for OBN
Hope this helps,

Performance Manager Startup Error
Hello All and Happy Holidays,
We are just starting up out 9509 Storage Directors and have licensed the Fabric Manager Server. Setting up flows using the Fabric Manager for performance monitoring goes according to the documents until we try to create the collection. The Performance Manager will not start.
When I check the log in the Fabric Manager, specifically the Performance Manager log, I get the following error: "C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\MDS 9000\pm\C:\Program Files\Cisco Systems\MDS 9000\pm\pm.xml (The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect)".
It appears to me there's a duplicate string in a config file somewhere that's providing an incorrect path to the appropriate.xml script. But where do I edit this to fix the problem. I've looked in all the .conf files, the .properties, and the .xml files I see and no where can I locate something obvious. Also, it will noit allow you to remove/reinstall. Anyone have any advice?
Thanks,
JimJim,
I have not seen this message before with PM but I know if you mess with the database .rrd or .xml it gets you in more trouble.
Are you running latest Java 1.5 ? And is this 2.1.2 FM/PM. If not you can upgrade just the FM with switches staying where they are. The Java is important also
I tried to find if just PM can be uninstalled by playing around on my lab system but only could find complete FM uninstall. Can you try loading FM on a differnt host that has not had FM before or is at least cleaned from past Cisco FM/DM app, to see if this is a file naming issue as you say. -

Configuration Error in EPM 11.1.2 in Performance management Architect
Hi All,
I Installed 11.1.2 in my laptop but database configuration in Performance Architect Database got failed.
When i select Configure database for the Performance management architect i am getting a popup window which says _"The Oracle Data Access Client is not Installed"_.
I clicked on ok on the popup window and clicked on next and after that i am getting Configuring database is getting failed in the configuration window.
Let me know if anyone got this type of issue and let me know how you resolved this issue.
Thanks in Advance.
Siva..It is important to install the Full database client as part of the installation, because the PATH variable is updated to include the path to the bin folder of the Oracle client.
Make sure ODP.net (Oracle data provider) and ASP.net component of Oracle client are installed on your system. when you do Oracle cleint install, these components are not installed by default and this could lead to configuration failure.
You need to do custom installation of Oracle client and select these components to make sure they are on your system.
Cheers,
Jasmine. -

I am unable to remove a host from my Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2. I receive the following error:
Error (2606)
Unable to perform the job because one or more of the selected objects are locked by another job.
Recommended Action
To find out which job is locking the object, in the Jobs view, group by Status, and find the running or canceling job for the object. When the job is complete, try again.
I have already tried running the following command in SQL Server Management Studio
SELECT * FROM [VirtualManagerDB].[dbo].[tbl_VMM_Lock] where TaskID='Task_GUID'
I received this error back:
Msg 8169, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
Conversion failed when converting from a character string to uniqueidentifier.
I have also tried rebooting both the host and the Virtual Machine Manager Server. After rebooting them both, I still receive the same error when trying to remove the host.
Here are my server details
VMM Server OS = Windows 2012 Standard
VMM Version = 2012 R2 3.2.7510.0
Host OS = Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter
Host Agent Version = 3.2.75.10.0
SQL Server OS = Windows 2012 Datacenter
SQL Version = 2012 SP 1 (11.0.3000.0)Hi there,
How many hosts are you managing with your VMM server?
The locking job might be the background host refresher job. Did you see any jobs in the jobs view, when the host removal job failed?
If there is no active jobs in the jobs view when this host removal job fails, can you please turn on the VMM tracing, retry the host removal, and paste back the traces for the failed job (search for exception and paste the whole stack)?
Thanks!
Cheng
