Try starting in Safe Mode. Once it is up and running, do a normal restart and then see if it will work. Many times this is all that I have had to do to get it working again. If not, then repost with more details.

TD, LN - You guys make great points and I will take you at your word. Normally, I would not hesitate to update. I have a lot at stake here with a large vacation coming up with a great many new pictures anticipated. I don't know enough to understand what is meant by "verifying my library." Please give me some insight there and I will start the upgrade process tonight! Seriously, I have wanted to do this for some time, but have been scared away by reading too many situations on these forums.
TD - you have a good sense of humor. I know all versions eventually need to be left to die away. Support is not eternal. I am sure I missed the announcement that certain versions of iPhoto would no longer offer the ability to conveniently make cards, calendars, books, etc. Like the original poster, I was surprised to learn my version did not offer that functionality only by requesting it and getting denied. Sort of frosted me at the time, as you can tell by my original reply here.

(I didn't change anything other than a location...took the laptop to Florida over spring break.) It won't allow me to start up in safe mode or last known good configuration, etc. It continues to go back to this same message. I'm not terribly computer-savvy, nor can I find the recovery disk. I desparately need some of the items stored on this computer. Am I out of luck? Any advice?

Advice? Why weren't you making backups? I guess you've just learned something the hard way.
I can't help with the error, but if you need what's on the disc, the quickest solution is to buy an external enclosure, and put the drive into it. Then just plug the enclosure into another computer and you'll have access.

Make sure it has an internal SATA interface, so that the drive will connect (older drives have a PATA or ATA interface).

After you've recovered from this incident, buy another drive for the enclosure and start making regular backups.

Did you just apply for an account or did you try to upload a book? If you are simply setting up an account, they won't ask you for an ISBN number. They will, however, ask for your tax ID number. After your account is activated, then any time you upload a new book, you will need to supply an ISBN number. Since each book has a unique ISBN, they don't need those numbers to initially set up your account. I hope that helps.

While creating your Apple ID initially, have you setup a rescue email, if yes then when you enter a wrong answer to your security questions, it gives you link to send reset security info mail to your rescue email address. If you have not setup a rescue email, then you will have to contact Apple.

If you decide not to provide a rescue email address, you can't reset your security questions and answers yourself later in the event you can't remember the answers to your questions. You'll need to contact iTunes Store support to have your questions and answers reset.

Make sure Java is enable in your browser's security settings.
Open Java Preferences (in Utilities folder)
Make sure Web-start applications are enabled.
Drag Java 32-bit to the top of the list.
jnlp isn't an audio file format. It's just a java web-start program (Java Network Launching Protocol).

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

This error message is shown when the user is entering the expense report in R12 Oracle Internet Expenses responsibility. After the user has finished entering the expense lines and after the user has reviewed the default expense allocation values in the expense allocation page, upon clicking on the next button , this error message is shown.
Has anybody experienced this issue?
We have opened a Service Request with Oracle but so far there is no resolution. This issue occurs intermittently. It is NOT consistent. We have advised the user base with the following workarounds to over this bug:
1. The system administrator shall clear the cache using Functional Administrator responsonsibility
OR
2. Advise the application user to sign-off from Oracle Applications and allow 5 minutes before they sign-in again.
Any help or advise in the matter is appreciated.

In terms of searching i have searched for photos on my finder. However, none of the photos that appear are from my iPhoto Library.

Try deleting the problematic file (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
