Error when attempting to install Windows SDK 7.1

I have not been able to install Windows SDK 7.1 (the machine runs Win 7 Pro x64).
The error message shows up in a message box as:
"SDKSetup encountered an error: Input string was not in a correct format."
By browsing to my %TEMP% directory, I find log files as mentioned at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1901279/windows-7-sdk-installation-failure

Note:
I have one version of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable (x64) installed, and one version of the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable (x64) installed.  No 2010 (or later) version — see http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vsnetsetup/archive/2012/03/14/unable-to-install-microsoft-windows-sdk-for-windows-7-and-net-framework-4.aspx.
I then noticed it is required to have Microsoft .NET Framework installed, so I installed version 4.5.2.
This did not affect the results.  I got the same error message, and the same logged events.
Clean boot did not resolve this.  Repairing the .NET Framework installation did not resolve this.
Thanks for any guidance,

You need to know what you have already.
Open Disk Utility, go to the First Aid tab, take a screenshot of the lefthand sidebar.
I won't advise on partitioning until I know what is there. (The BCA page where you create the partition will not show whether there is another, it will just fail if there is)

  • Bootcamp Issues when attempting to install Windows 7

Please excuse my ignorance.... new to Apple after using Windows for ever.
I am attempting to install Windows 7 on my new MacBook Pro 13" purchased 4 days ago. I follow the instructions from following tutorials on UTube however do not get the option to divide my OS into a mac portion and a windows portion.
I have got the original Windows 7 disc have also created an ISO version, and have formatted a USB to be MS-DOS Fat. Still no luck
On the tutorials, it states to open up Bootcamp, then divide the partitians for Windows / Mac, then load up your Windows 7 disc.
This does not happen on my bootcamp.
Im asked to create an ISO of Windows 7, which I have done
Then asked to download the latest Windows support software for Apple - which starts - but never ends
Then when attempting the third section, installing Windows 7 I get an error message stating please install the installation disc and wait a few seconds
I am using the Bootcamp that was included with my purchase of the MacBook Pro. Should I search for another one - although I appear to be up to date with applications.
I am doing this in order to use CorelDRAW via windows on my mac for my small business. Any help would be most appreciated, and please no smart comments as i am really struggling here and everything appears to be simple, but is not.

  • Network Connection error when Trying to Install Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials

Thank you to anyone who can help me out here. I have a brand new machine with known working wifi and wired ethernet adapters (works under Windows 8.1) I am attempting to install Windows Server 2012 Essentials R2. During the install process, the system connects
to the internet to download updates to help along the install. No problem here. Further down the road after restarting several times and now during the "Configuring Windows Server Essentials" step of the install, I am told "There is no network
connection. Please fix the connection issue and try again."
When troubleshooting the connection, I am told that the wifi adapter drivers may not be installed. I have a wireless card in the machine and have also tried disabling the wifi adapter and have been connected successfully via the ethernet port this whole
    time.
Help, I'm stuck and have been to this point in the install 4-5 times already.
    Thank you.

Is this a laptop?  Can you remove the wifi? Disable it in BIOS?
Does the wifi have an IP and internet when it throws the error?
BTW, when the wizard ask about updates say no.  Takes way too long and does not help anything
Change the binding order and put the wired on top.
    The Steps?
Just open your Network and Sharing Center. (Change adapter settings)
Press an ALTkey on your keyboard to show the menu bar.
    Click on the Advancedmenu
    choose Advanced Settings option
Adjust your binding order for your NICs to ensure your wired ones are at the TOP

  • Error when try to install windows 8.1 from UEFI USB

    Hello !
I have prepared a UEFI USB flash drive installation for Windows 8.1, as described in this link :
    http://www.nextofwindows.com/how-to-make-uefi-bootable-usb-flash-drive-to-install-windows-8/
The computer is on UEFI mode.
Now the computer boot from the USB flash drive, but after some seconds, I get an error message on a blue screen:
Your pc need to be repaired
The application or operating system couldn't be loaded because a required file is missing or contain errors
    File \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi
    Error code :0xc0000359"
It’s strange because the hard drive has no partitions, and the USB flash drive doesn’t have a path path like
    \windows\system32\boot\winload.efi.
What is happening and what should I do?
    Thank you !

    Hi,
When install Windows on UEFI mode, you need to convert your disk to GPT firstly. Therefore, please check if your disk was already converted to GPT partition style.
On the other hand, you can access to the link below which talking about how to install Windows using UEFI partition style.

  • Error when attempting to install download assistant

I have made several attempts to install the download assistant onto my Macbook Pro. I keep getting an error message that says that the file is damaged and to download a new file from the author.
I've tried that, but am still getting the error. I've seen that others have had the same problem while searching the forum, so if anyone could please help it'd be appreciated.

I receive the same error message. It says: The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author.
And when I try to download it again it keeps saying the same error message.

  • Error when attempting to install Acrobat XI on a new PC

I'm trying to install Acrobat XI on a new home machine (it's been installed on my laptop since last July).  During the extract process, I receive a the following error:
I'm running the install as administrator and placing the extracted files in a folder with full access.  There's lots of space on the hard drive.  The PC is running Windows 8.1 Enterprise and has the latest Microsoft patches.  Any idea why I'm getting this error or how to get around it?
    Thanks,
    JCC

Thanks for the prompt reply.  Running as administrator was one of the first things I did when the problem cropped up.  Sorry, I should have included that in my original post.
Since writing the post, I downloaded a trial copy of Acrobat and then entered my key.  Worked fine.  Here's my theory on what was wrong.
    1. I purchased this software last July and immediately installed it on my Windows 8.1 laptop.  Install worked fine.  My home computer was running Window 7 and an earlier version of Acrobat so I didn't have a reason to install my "extra" copy on that machine.
    2. Just purchased a new home PC running Windows 8.1 and I'm going through the time consuming process of moving in.  When I tried to install the latest version of Acrobat on the new PC, it yielded the described error.  Very probably, Microsoft changed something that made my original install incompatible.  Meanwhile, Adobe fixed the incompatibility so the latest install works.
Granted, this is strictly theoretical but it sure seems to fit.
    Please consider this case closed.

  • Error when attempting to install Shockwave 12.0.2.122

I have a new Dell Inspirion 660 running Windows 7, Sevice Pack 1.  I have encountered several issues with my current version of Shockwave stopping in the middle of games, so I wanted to install the new version.  However, each time I install it, it stops in the middle, and states the following:  "Error opening file for writing:  C:\Windows\system32\Adobe\Shockwave12\SwHelper_1202122.exe".  From there, I can 'abort', 'ignore' or 'retry'.  The only one that truly gives a response is to abort.  I have attempted several times, all with the same results.  Any suggestions?

    Hi Necromanthus!
Thanks for your help!  I don't know why the path would be wrong as it is how it comes out during the install.  I attempted the download as you suggested and still received the same error.  I did notice however that going through this way did offer the full version and not just the "slim" version that is given off the standard download.  However, the same error is given for both.
Any other suggestions?  I am starting to think my computer is possessed!  Oh, and as for the Admin rights, yes, I have full rights, I'm actually the only user on this computer.
Admin account without write permissions indicates infected OS and hijacked administrator account.
Anyway, Pat is right: you need to provide more details about your OS.
In case of Windows 7 64bit, the installation folder is C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Adobe\Shockwave 12\
    Try the following:
    - check out if you have any installed SW plugin. If yes, just remove it.
    - download the full installer
    - disconnect the network connection
    - turn off the antivirus, firewall and any other "application locker"
    - run the installer as administrator.
    - see if everything is ok.
    Good luck.
