  • Source Material error when burning disk image

Well, I've been haunting these forums for 10 days, finding answers to every darn problem under the sun I've encountered! (thanks folks, I've been near hysteria) Now I have yet another problem, and I cannot find an answer in the forums (sorry if it's there.)
I have built my movie in iMovie, imported to iDVD, created my disk image, played my disk image (worked perfectly), connected my brand new LaCie external burner, loaded Toast 6 Lite, dragged my mounted disk image icon into the window, popped in my Verbatim DVD+R and let 'er rip.
And, poo, I'm informed that 4 files are in an unsupported format and cannot be imported. EH? I thought the disk image kept all self-contained? I press onward, and hit burn. Churning, churning... and then this message:
"Could not record disc because there is a problem with the source material. Result code= -18774"
Trying to burn via Disk Utility doesn't work either. My mounted disk shows up, but when highlighted the burn button is grayed out. Only when I click on the .img file is the burn option lit.
Am I supposed to drag the .img file rather than the mounted little disc icon? PLEASE HELP. These movies were SUPPOSED to be Xmas presents... now I'm praying for Michaelmas gifts!
    TIA

ohmygosh. Lightbulb! I've been trying to burn the file_name one and not the file_name.img one. I assumed the point of mounting the file was to burn it, but it's only to preview it, yes?? So, I did that via Disk Utility, and it worked!! Only thing I can't figure is how to set the burn speed. I know slower is better, but can't find the place to tell it the speed. It never asks.
Toast still gives me the source material error. I do have the 'video' tab selected, and I've done the drag-n-drop method AND the 'add' method ('copy' is only for transferring data from one CD/DVD to another in my version, evidently). Toast doesn't allow me to grab the .img file, so I'm assuming IT wants the mounted file_name one? I'd still like to be able to use Toast to burn, so a solution to this would be appreciated. I'm using Toast 6 Lite, BTW.

  • Power calibration error when burning?

I get a power calibration error when burning from IDVD.
Any suggestions as to how to fix it?

Basically a power calibration is the drive writes to the blank and then tries to read it back and adjusts the laser power accordingly to get a proper burn. So there are a number of reasons you might get this problem.
One is the media itself. A bad disc or poor quality media might give you this error.
Next, you may have a dirty laser and running on of those cleaning CDs (they have little brushes on them to dust off the laser) might do the trick.
Third, could be a laser on the drive is giving up the ghost. Hopefully it is not the last one.

  • Unknown error when burning disc

I get an unknown error when burning playlists to blank discs.  My computer begins to write the discs, but stops after a song or two.

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

  • Memory allocation error when burning in premiere elements 2

I have premiere elements 2. I happily burnt a version of my dvd then suddenly it stopped burning and I had the above message during the burning section of the process. My computer has adequate memory to run this programme and nothing new has been added. I then downloaded Premiere elements 7 as a trial and burnt this Dvd yesterday. However today it won't burn through 7 either so i am reluctant to upgrade unnecessarily. Can anyone shed light on why I receive this error message.
Other things seem to burn but I am beginning to receive messages that Adobe is low generally on memory allocation.
    Regards

  • Error Messages When Burning / Disk only plays in certain DVD players

When burning most all of my DVD's in DVD Studio Pro, after all of the encoding in the burn process and the program starts the initialization, I get a Media Error Calibration Error message. When I retry to burn, everything seems fine. But, my DVD's only play in some DVD players. Others say unreadable disc. Any ideas?

Many times, media can cause your problem, I use Maxell myself, (never had any compatibility issues. Here's a URL to a site that rates the quility of many different kinds of media and there reliability.
It also includes alot of very useful info below the ratings area.

  • Error when burning DVDs

I get a L-EC uncorrectable error. (0x11, 0x5.) error when trying to burn a very short (30second) movie onto DVD. The DVD ejects and, when it next is inserted, doesn;t appear on the desktop. Any ideas boffins???

Try Verbatim DVD+R disks. If they burn it's the media and with Sony DVD-R I suspect it's likely to be the disks.

  • Error when burning DVD - no plugin DLLS

    Look at SuperMediaStore.
You might be able to find them cheaper. I was just checking to see if they make them.

  • Hardware Error when burning DVD's

I keep getting an error message when burning DVD's using Toast Titanium on my iMac..it reads:
"Drive Reported an error, Sense key = hardware error, sense code = 0 x 03."
Twice after getting that message I couldn't continue to burn and it stopped, once it did continue to burn and finished successfully. Any ideas, anyone?
    17" iMac G5 w/ iSight   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   upgraded to 1GB RAM

I get the same message today when burning from Toast 7.02 on my iMac. It happened when I was trying to make an audio CD from my iTunes collection (not when Copying from CD to CD). The exact message I got in the middle of my burn was:
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key = hardware Error
    Sense Code = 0x03, 0x01
I tryed again with another CD and got the same thing. I never had a problem with these CD's (TDK CD-R up to 48x).
I wonder if there has to be some sort of software upgrade fro Roxio Toast or is this a superdrive malfunction/etc. My Superdrive gets very loud during this burn as well. I may take it in to Apple Genius Bar. Any ideas?

  • Automatic Error when opening Disk Utility

Hi guys, I recently noticed this problem when clicking "Calculate Image Checksum..." in the finder pulldown menu for Disk Utility. I don't open Disk Utility often, so I can't be sure if this error has always existed or if it only has recently began occurring. Anyways, when I open up Disk Utility, it seems as though it is detecting a .dmg file on my desktop named "Desktop.dmg." When opening Disk Utility and calculating image checksum, I automatically get a pop up error saying:
    Disk Utility Progress:
Unable to checksum "Desktop". (Operation not supported on socket)
When opening Disk Utility regularly, (by going to Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility) the Desktop.dmg file is not there. Is this normal? Is there any way I can prevent the Desktop.dmg from showing up?
    Any help appreciated,
    Thank you!

ive also noticed that if i have the "Macintosh HD" icon highlighted on the desktop, then attempt to calculate checksum, then when Disk Utility opens up it proceeds to checksum the drive and prompts for my password.
So it seems as though whatever it is that is highlighted in finder, Disk Utility will somehow create a .dmg file with the same name and try to mount it. Since this is not a real disk image, the error pops up. I am very puzzled by this, can anybody give me some insight?

  • Hardware Error When Burning a CD or DVD

I keep getting the following error when I try to burn a CD or DVD via my internal burner....
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key = HARDWARE ERROR
    Sense Code = 0x09, 0x02
    FOCUS SERVO FAILURE
    Using Toast 6 Titanium 6.0.7
    Any suggestions.....?

Check on firmware update for your drive and different media is where I would start.
I think it may be a media problem as well...on numerous occasions when I insert a blank CD the drive will spin a few times the eject the CD....
I'm guessing I can find the firmware update via the Apple Support section..?

I would upgrade your Toast software to the latest because the version you are currently running is not coded to run on an Intel Mac or even 10.4 for that matter. Toast 6.1 was the first version compatible with 10.4 and Toast 7.1 was the first Intel compatible version.

Thx...I was not aware I needed Toast 7.1....my current version has worked in the past so I thought I was OK....

  • HELP! OOstatus error=- 47, ERROR WHEN BURNING

I am getting an error that states "osstatus error = -47" when I try to burn a disc, does anyone know the workaround for this??
I am using 2ghz intel core 2 duo macbook

We first need to determine what program is involved and the details of what you are doing?
You cannot burn your content to DVD disc (assumed DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc) with just Photoshop Elements and its associated Elements Organizer? So, if you are getting this error in your burn to disc, I am suspecting that you are not working with Photoshop Elements.
So, what program and version of it are you working with and on what computer operating system is it running?
The error that you present at burn has been seen before with no one description of what it means (that I have ever seen). Sometimes defragmentation of the computer hard drive and/or using another brand/type DVD disc resolves the issue. If you are in Premiere Elements burn dialog, does hitting the Rescan button a few times have any impact on the situation?
