Hello,
I am new to Web Dynpro. Today I have written my first program and when I tried to deploy it, I got the following error
"Deployment aborted
Deployment exception : Cannot determine sdm host (is empty). Please configure your engine/sdm correctly !"
Can anybody please tell me how to catch or resolve this exception or problem.

GyanHi Gyan Prakash,
I Faced Similar when iam working on NWDS, nothing to worry about it just Delete the Application which you have created for your Project
you find your application as follows:
proj_sample --> webDynpro --> Applications --> proj_sampleApp.
Delete the proj_sampleApp.
save all metadata. Rebuild your Project. Restart your NWDS.
create your New Application for your WebDynpro Project, rebuild your project and Now Deploy and Run your Project.
This will solve your Problem.

Error while compiling Web Dynpro program due to missing JAR files
Hi Experts,
I am getting error message while compiling Web Dynpro program. The erring lines are as below:
Message message = new MimeMessage(session);
try {
message.setFrom(new InternetAddress(fromMailId));
message.addRecipient(
Message.RecipientType.TO,
new InternetAddress(toMailId));
message.setSubject(mailSubject);
message.setText(mailBody);
message.setHeader("X-Mailer", "E-Mail");
message.setSentDate(new Date());
Transport.send(message);
The error messages are:
Message.ReceipientType can not be resolved
The method send(Message) is undefined for the type Transport
The method setFrom(InternetAddress) is undefined for the type Message
The method setHeader(String, String) is undefined for the type MessageThe method setSentDate(Date) is undefined for the type Message
The method setSubject(String) is undefined for the type Message
The method setText(String) is undefined for the type Message
Type mismatch: cannot convert from MimeMessage to Message
Can you please help me in resolving the issue. It seems that some API is missing. I believe if some one can tell me the name of JAR file / API then I will be able to sort out the issue. I will add these JAR file in my program.
Thanks,
SHI Stuart,
you are missing the jar files required for sending mail in java
Installing JavaMail
You will need the latest version of JavaMail (Version 1.2) available here:
http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/
Download and unzip the file, in the newly created top level JavaMail directory you will find a number of jar files,
these need adding to your classpath.
To do this in Eclipse, right click on your project in the tree view, select properties, select the libraries tab.
Now click the 'Add external jars' button, navigate to your JavaMail directory and click on the jars.
The tutorial also makes use of the Java Activation Framework, which is available here:
http://java.sun.com/products/javabeans/glasgow/jaf.html
Instalation of JAF is identical to JavaMail
activation.jar / mail.jar are 2 distinct names i remember rest you will get above
P.S: close the question to assist other users narrow the search and find solutions

SHi,
Have you imported the required JavaMail jar?
Please tell me what API you are using for the same.
Also check Barcode Printing from EP --using barcode4J (Gurus kindly help me) forum to check how to add external jar files into WebDynpro project
Let me know if you need more help on it.

Error when Creating Web Dynpro Model in CAF-Service
Hi All,
I reaaly need help. AFter updating to SPS 9, it was necessary to redeploy my Entity Service. That contains to "Create a Web Dynpro Model" in the Service Explorer,
to get an interface of the Service in my Web Dynpro Application.
Before I update to SPS 9, the Application works fine.
But now, when I want to "Create a Web Dynpro Model" in the NWDS I get the following Error-Message (its not a useful Error-Message):
<i>Error cannot create Web Dynpro Model:
Creation of Web Dynpro model failed. Reason: null </i>
Thanks for helping me
SteveHi Aliaksei,
the problem in the thread is the same I got.
When I use only 7 letters for the operation name, the creation work. When I use more then 7 letters the creation doesnt work.
But its hard to find a methodname with only 7 letters.
In SPS 8 I didnt have problems with the length of method names. Why is it so?

Error in deploying Web Dynpro application
Hi
I have created (in Net weaver developer studio) and deployed a webdynpro application on the portal. I have created a SAP WebDynpro iView for the web Dynpro application that I have deployed on the portal. When I execute the WebDynpro iView in the portal,
1) I get a popup message "Session Management will not work! Please check the DSM log file for details" I checked for the DSM log file under System Administration>Support>Support Desk>Portal RuntimeLogViewer and I browse to irj/root/WEB-INF/portal/logs. There is no file in the logs folder.
2) After clicking ok on the popup message, I get an error message in the portal saying

Strange JCO error when running Web Dynpro App
I am developing a new WebDynpro application to be deployed on our SAP
Portal interfacing with a SAP R/3 backend. The application uses
multiple JCo destinations (two for each model) all of which were
configured according the SAP guides (userid/password for metadata and
ticket for model data). The tests work fine for all connections.
However, we get HTTP 500 errors when executing the application. The
main message is : "com.sap.mw.jco.JCO$Exception: (101)
RFC_ERROR_PROGRAM: 'password' missing".
I have not been able to find anything to help and SAP themselves have yet to provide us an explanation.
- I was able to run the application fine in dev and it worked with this error occasionally appeared but now it always appears.
- Our portal is 2004s SP 10
- All of the JCOs are configured properly as per SAP instructions
- modeldata use SSO with user configured in R/3
- metadata use userid/password
- Another prototype Web Dynpro application has the same error.
- All of the Web Dynpro models are Adaptave RFC.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.Here is the full exception I am getting.

Error when assigning Web Dynpro UI to BPM task
Hi all,
I have created a simple Web Dynpro application that consumes a web service. The WD works fine when executed standalone and is fully prepared to be used in BPM (ie has Complete event and so on). When I try to add the UI to a BPM task I can't see it under supported components and if I choose to see all components I get the error:
Selected component is not supported. One of the ports has unsupported data.
Does anyone recognize this?
I'm using CE 7.2.
Regards
/OskarHi Oskar,
Seems that one of the datatypes that you are using is not supported. Make sure that you are using Data Types supported by WS.
Cheers,

Abap error when using Web Dynpro assistance class
Hello All,
I created Web Dynpro component with assistance class.
On the component controller I can see the attribute "WD_ASSIST".
I also can use Goto -> text symbols and create net text key.
But when I tried to read the text:
wd_assist->get_text( '001' ).
There is abap error:
Method get_text is unknown protected or private.
I can see the method get_text inside my assistance class like this:
IF_WD_COMPONENT_ASSISTANCE~GET_TEXT visibility - public.
I think I missed something while creating the assistance class?
Thanks in advanced for the help.
NirYour method call should be:
wd_assist->IF_WD_COMPONENT_ASSISTANCE~get_text( '001' ).
You have to supply the interface name or go into the class definition and create a public alias for that method. -
Error when deploying web service do not have a property of the name return
Using Jdeveloper 11.1.1.6 and Oracle 11g database.
I created entities classes from tables then created a Java Service Facade and then a web service from the facade.
When I delpoy (to Integrated WLS) or try to test the web service I get:
javax.xml.ws.WebServiceException: class src.jaxws.persistXXX do not have a property of the name return. (I put the XXX there because if I remove the class from the web service then another persist* class gives the same error.
I've checked the definitions and there's not a name 'return' anywhere other than return statements in the methods.
TIA,
Dave

OK, I've solved this myself. I was using -p with wsimport to name the package of the generated class. When I removed this from the generated class, everything works fine! I'm not really sure why but I think it's because the wsdl is using target namespace.
Does JDeveloper use this switch during deployment? If so, how do I remove it? Thanks, Dave -
