Error when I start Photoshop "Monitor profile appears defective"

Over the past few weeks I have gotten a error popup message when I open Photoshop that says:
"DELL E22IOH  G2.2 D65" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software.
If I choose the IGNORE option I can go into Photoshop error free. BUT, if I choose USE ANYWAY I get into Photoshop and the colors are off. There is no more white color (it's not a pale yellowish color).
I haven't changed any settings in my Photoshop recently (why tinker with something when it's not broken?). Regardless, this error message isn't going away and would like to correct this problem. Anyone ever experienced this before? I've googled the problem and have seen some weird so-called solutions but figured I'd go to the pro's to get a answer I can trust.
If it matters, I use Windows XP.
Thanks

I'd say your monitor profile is corrupted, or at least unusable by Photoshop.
Did you install a new monitor, or bring in new software or an update to where your system now knows more about the monitor hardware than it did before?  Did you update Photoshop to a new revision?
This would not be a settings issue with Photoshop, but rather what profile you have associated with your monitor via the operating system.  Right-click your desktop, choose Properties, then the Settings tab, and [Advanced] button.  Systems differ at this point, but look for a Monitor tab and Color Management function where you can choose a monitor profile to associate with a particular display monitor.
Ultimately you want to try to determine what monitor profile file is being identified by "DELL E2210H G2.2 D65" and see if you can get another copy of it (e.g., from Dell.com).  Note that you misinterpreted the 10 as IO in your original message, so a search for the string as I have listed it here may turn up more results.

Noel,
Did not install a new monitor or a new version of photoshop or anything else for that matter.  I did however update a windows update several weeks ago. Im not sure but I think the error occurred after that update.
I was able to follow your steps and found the color management function, but there was only one profile listed.

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.

  • When I start Photoshop Elements within Aperture 3, my image is flattened.  How can I correct this?

Just installed Aperture 3 last week.
    1) I imported all my images from iPhoto.
    2) I downloaded a plug-in for Aperture, "Burn to Disc" and it seems to work well.
When I start Photoshop Elements 9 within Aperture 3, my very large file is flattened and of course all layers are gone.
How can I open my PSD files in Aperture 3 complete with layers?
Read the Aperture Manual, checked the discussion groups and remain stumped.  I'd greatly appreciate any help.  Thanks in advance.

Thank you so much for your reply.  Using Photoshop and saving the files within Aperture was a major reason for getting this software.  But Photoshop without layers is taking the heart out of the beast.   Thanks again for your reply.

  • Setting Photoshop monitor profiles when using dual displays?

I'm using a Macbook Pro connected to an Apple Cinema Display under OS 10.5.8. Both monitors are calibrated and I export from Lightroom to Photoshop in ProPhoto. The Photoshop working colour space is also ProPhoto so there is no mismatch there.
When in dual display mode I like to have my Photoshop application on the Macbook screen and the photo I'm working on shown on the Cinema Display. In fact, I couldn't work any other way because the laptop's screen is not at all suitable for precision work.
I noticed that when I send an image from Lightroom to Photoshop CS4 for further editing the colours were off in Photoshop. This lead me to check the monitor profile used by Photoshop and I saw it was using the Macbook Pro .icc profile. This seems to be used even if the image is displayed in the external display. Selecting the Cinema Display as "default" in ColorSync doesn't change the situation. As a result, the colours as displayed by Photoshop are incorrect.
The only "solution" I have found is to either go to System Preferences > Displays  and select the external monitor as the principal one (which is inconvenient because it negates many of the advantages of using dual monitors) or setting the Cinema Display's .icc profile for the Macbook Pro as well (which makes it the one chosen by Photoshop but means I'm only working wiht one correctly calibrated monitor).
Is there a solution to this problem? Ideally I want to have both my monitors calibrated and Photoshop detect which one I'm using to view my photo. Failing that, I would like to have both monitors calibrated and "tell" Photoshop to use the Cinema Display as the principal monitor.I don't want .
    Many thanks!

    Thanks for your reply!
I'm not too worried about 10.6 because I'm not using it ( I reverted to 10.5.8 precisely because of the colour issues).
I don't really understand your reply. My problem is that if Photoshop uses my Mabook Pro profile as the "monitor profile" my pictures - as displayed on the Cinema Display - look different in Lightroom and in Photoshop. It's as if Lightroom is "aware" of which of the two displays is being used whereas Photoshop can only deal with one at a time. I would like to know if this analysis is correct and what I can do so that Photoshop displays my photographs the same way as Lightroom does on each of my two displays.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 monitor profile is defective in Windows 8.1

I'm using Windows 8.1 and  Photoshop Elements 9.  When I start the program I get the message "The monitor profile [name] appears to be defective.  Please rerun your monitor calibration software."  How do I do this?  Apparently Adobe Gamma is obsolete for this problem.  Also, the forum only talks about Photoshop 6.0-7x and Windows versions prior to 8.1.

Please check if the downloads are the full size, and not somehow truncated.
    PhotoshopElements_9_LS15.exe : 1.16 MB = 1,199 KB = 1,227,128 bytes
    PhotoshopElements_9_LS15.7z : 1.75 GB = 1,838,906 KB = 1,883,039,681 bytes

  • The monitor profile "***" appears to be defective......

This is an FYI for others trying to solve the problem I've been pulling my hair out over! I was receiving a warning on startup of Ps CS3 "The monitor profile 'LCD color management and conversion' appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software". This was after using my EyeOne to calibrate my monitor. I've seen variations of this problem on various forums and websites, but none helped my particular problem.
FINALLY, it occurred to me to check the default profile for my SECONDARY monitor! That one was using a stock profile that came with the monitor, but that was what was triggering the error message. Once I replaced that with the same profile as I created and was using on my primary monitor, Ps stopped displaying the warning.
I hope this helps someone else! If I recall from months ago when I researched and bought my colorimeter, my model will only calibrate one monitor, so I can't use it to create a unique profile for the second monitor.

    OK, this is pretty funny...
I'm having this same problem, and can't remember how I solved it before, searching all over the internet and Adobe Forum, and finally find this post.  Finally, a post that seems very similar to my problem!
HELLO!  I posted it!!!!  Even if it never was of any help to anyone else, it helped me solve the problem again!
This time, problem arose because of having to remove and reinstall GPU and monitor drivers.  Other things have change too, since my original post.  I'm now on Win7 64bit, just bought PS CS5, and different GPU.....but none of those are a factor.
Even though I had just recently calibrated my primary monitor with Eye-One, using the advanced mode; I did it all over again, and determined that it was set as the default profile.
I almost thought the fix didn't work this time around, but upon trying it again, I realized I wasn't paying close enough attention.  I right-clicked the desktop to get to screen resolution, and clicked on advanced properties after selecting monitor #2.  Color management tab>click on color management button>devices tab.  Alas, I thought, they're the same list of profiles, and the newest profile is set as the default.  It wasn't until the second time around that I realized that, even though I had started out selecting monitor #2 as the one I wanted to change, this dialog I found myself in has a drop-down for monitor, and it was displaying the profiles for the primary.
Once I changed that to show the secondary monitor, the problem was evident: the only profile showing was the dreaded "LCD color management and conversion" profile.  Where it comes from, and why PS doesn't like it, I have no idea.  As far as I can tell, it's not Dell's.   I also had to check the box "Use my settings for this device" before I was able to add any new profiles.  I added a few new ones from the list after clicking on "add", including the profile for my primary.  Since my secondary is not color critical and is just for tool pallettes, I just chose one that looked similar to my primary's (the one for the primary was too cool).
Reopened PS, and it was happy as a clam!

    Abhishek Madan

    Hi Abhishek,
According to your description, my understanding is that the User Profile Synchronization service stuck on ‘Starting’ or ‘Stopping’.
Please check whether you installed SQL 2012 Native Client (Pre-requisites) on SharePoint server. If yes, download and install SQL 2008 R2 Native Client from the below location:
    http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/1/3/9138773A-505D-43E2-AC08-9A77E1E0490B/1033/x64/sqlncli.msi
From the SharePoint server ->control panel -> add/Remove programs , please confirm that the SQL 2008 Native Client is listed.
Make sure that the farm account is a member of the Administrators group on the server on which you are trying to start the User Profile Synchronization service, then restart the SharePoint Timer Service.
Set the FIM services to "Local System" before starting the service.
There is a troubleshooting for User Profile Synchronization Service start issues, please have a look at:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg750257(v=office.14).aspx
Here are some similar posts for you to take a look at:

  • Exception GIFException in module aviWUSB54GC.dll at 000252AF? Error When i Start Up windows

hi i get this message Exception GIFException in module aviWUSB54GC.dll at 000252AF. what does this mean and it really starting to get annoying. can anyone help me? i lost my cd when i was moving so i dont know what to do?. thanks.

    Solution 1
Boot your system in Safe Mode by pressing on F8 repeatedly after the Startup beep, but before the Windows screen comes up.
While in Safe Mode, uninstall the adapter drivers in Device Manager.
Uninstall the application or utility from Add Remove programs.
    Reboot as you normally would.
    Reinstall only the drivers.
To re-install the Drivers insert the Linksys Setup CD into your CD-ROM drive, When the Welcome screen appears click Exit, connect your USB adapter now...When the  Hardware Update Wizard window appears, click Install the software automatically (Recommended) then click Next.
NOTE: The Hardware Installation screen may appear indicating that the Adapter has not passed Windows Logo testing. Ignore the window and click Continue Anyway to proceed with the installation since the Adapter has been tested and found to work with Windows XP.When Windows has finished installing the driver, click Finish.
Click on Start and goto Control Panel and double click on Network Connections...Right click on Wireless Network Connection and select View Available Wireless Networks"- If you see your wireless network in the list, highlight it by 'single' clicking on it- Now click on the 'Connect' button below- If your wireless network is secured, it would ask you to provide the network key- Provide the wireless network key and confirm it again in the confirmation box and click Connect".It should work...
    Solution 2
Download the driver appropriate for your device from here
After downloading the drivers you need to unzip the file...After you unzip the file you should un-install the adapter drivers/software from Programs menu...Leave the adapter connected to the PC and reboot your computer...Once the computer is rebooted you should see a message "Found new Hardware"...Select the option Install it from a specific location and click Next, then select Include this location in Search and browse to the place where you have unzipped all the files and select the Driver folder and click O.k...Then click Next and it should install the adapter drivers...
NOTE : This installation doesn't install the software(Linksys Monitor)...
Once the Adapter is installed, Click on the Start button >>> Control Panel >>> Network Connections- Right click on the "Wireless Network Connection" icon and select "View Available Wireless Networks"- If you see your wireless network in the list, highlight it by 'single' clicking on it- Now click on the 'Connect' button below- If your wireless network is secured, it would ask you to provide the network key- Provide the wireless network key and confirm it again in the confirmation box and click "Connect"...It should connect to your Network and Internet...
