Error when I try to look at the files backed up

Every time I use time machine it seems like its fine and I have an external disk. When I take my external disk so my friend can use it to take photos it comes up with an error that says error code-10657 which I have no idea what that means. I can't get into anything when i try to look on my computer and on others people's computer on my backup disk. How do I fix this or what is wrong?

If you search Discussions for that error you get for instance the following threads:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1711873
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1448412
Your TM backup is connected to the computer it backs up. Have you tried "browse other Time Machine disks" in the TM menu in the menu bar when the external is connected to your friend's computer? Perhaps that will work.

After having upgraded my MacBook to Snow Leopard, the following error message pops when I try to access iTunes: "The file iTunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a new version of iTunes".  So, now after the upgrade, I cannot access iTunes.  How do I resolve this??
    Thanks

zepel has it, but perhaps some more detail will help.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • Show-stopping error when I try to load/run the muse code with JQuery version 1.9.1.

Version 1.9.1, and the muse code uses 1.8.3.  As you can see HERE,http://jquery.com/download/ version 1.9.0 was a major milestone release for JQuery that eliminated much of the (deprecated) functionality of earlier versions. Unfortunately, the muse html uses some of that deprecated functionality (specifically, the "browser( )" function HERE)http://jquery.com/upgrade-guide/1.9/#jquery-browser-removed. Started a few weeks ago, after the update to Mavericks.
Anytime I try to click on an item via Finder, and CTL+click to have the drop down menu, Finder crashes. Same thing happens when I try to click on the File Menu when Finder is selected.
Ultimately, I may need to do a full clean install (It's a bit overdue), but this seems to be an account specific issue, as my wife's user account does not have this issue.
To Note: I do not, nor have I ever, use Google Drive. So it's not that.

Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
    Click "Reset".
    Empty Caches
    Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.

You probably need the XVID codec to view that .avi

The trampoline.mov is inside the QuickTime Player

  • YouTube says there is an "Authorization Error" when I try to get on the site with Firefox. Can I fix this?

When I try to get onto YouTube, the site is completely white with the words "Authorization Error" in the top left corner. For a while, all I had to do was reload YouTube and it was fine. Now it just won't work at all. I have Internet Explorer on my computer as well and YouTube works fine on there. When this error occurs, the icon in the address bar changes back to YouTube's old icon.
    I have tried:
    -Updating Firefox
    -Restarting the computer
    -Closing and re-opening Firefox
-Typing https instead of http before the address
-Googling and clicking Google's link to the site (yes, a feeble attempt, I know)
Does anyone know what I can do to get YouTube back on my favorite browser? I'd like to stop having to run to Internet Explorer to use this site.

  • I went into the original files in the iphoto library and organised the photos there, now when I try to look at the photos in iphoto the tiles are there but when I try to enlarge or put into a slide show a big grey explanation mark occurs?

I tried to organise my iphoto originals to it would be easier to back them up onto my hard drive, so I renamed them and grouped them in the orinigal file. Now when I go onto iphoto to view the photos in a slide show a big exclamation mark comes up and if I click on the photo to see the original file it can't find it. Any ideas?

You won't be able to run the rebuild function and restore your library becaue you renamed and regrouped your original photos from the Finder.  I doubt if you can change the names back to their original names and put them back in the folders they were in originally so your only option is get your backup library and replace the one you damaged.
If you don't have a backup copy of the library from just before the problem that contains all of your photos you will need to start over from scratch as follows:
Start over from scratch with new library
Start over with a new library and import the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from your original library as follows:
    1.  Move the existing library folder to the desktop.
    2. Open the library package like this.
    3. Launch iPhoto and, when asked, select the option to create a new library.
    4. Drag the Originals (iPhoto 09 and earlier) or the Masters (iPhoto 11) folder from the iPhoto Library on the desktop into the open iPhoto window.
This will create a new library with the same Events as the original library but will not keep the metadata, albums, books slideshows and other projects.
In the future stay out of the iPhoto Library package and only access the photos using iPhoto.

I looked in the settings and tried to find an option to correct this but could find none. Basically all it says is the effect name in the preview box (ex. "name.ffx") but doesn't show the actual preview. Does this have something to do with GL previews? Can anyone help?

Has this ever worked for you or is this new?
Are you sure you're looking at the correct files? The only ones that preview for me in Bridge are Presets.
