Error when installing APEX 3 on Oracle 11g !!

I have Oracle db 11g on Windows Vista and there is no problem with the database. The problem is when I try to install Oracle Application Express (Apex) 3. After unzipping the Apex zip file to somewhere on my hard disk, I log to the database as sysdba using the command-line SQL*Plus to install the Application Express, but everytime I try to run the apexins.sql file the command-line SQL*Plus window disappears suddenly and the installation does not proceed !! I did all the prerequisite tasks according to the Apex installation guide and everything seemed good until I reached the installation process.
Please help !

Hi Joel,
Yes, see
Re: unable to import applications into Apex on XE
That was on a XP Pro machine.
I'm trying to do the same on a linux machine now and getting the same issues. It might still relate to the downloaded file I was using. I'm about to try and copy the apex folder from the XP pc to the linux pc and try again. :-(
BTW, I can't find the 11g XE download link. Is it avaliable yet?
Many thanks
Regards
Bryan

  • ORA-12154 error when trying to connect to Oracle 11g DB from Excel 2010

    All,
I am trying to set up Excel 2010 64-bit to connect to an Oracle 11g database, but am having some trouble due to an "ORA-12154 could not resolve the connect identifier specified" error. I am able to TNSping the SID name, as well as connect to SQLplus. The TNS entry works, and the Oracle Home is in the right spot. I am even able to put the full connection string in the "Data Source" field when creating a data link in Excel and have it connect to the DB. But I would like to be able to create one that used the SID rather than the full connection string, as other users will have to use this. The developer behind the Excel solution created a number of .odc files to connect to various databases, so this gives extra weight behind figuring out how to connect via a SID rather than a full connection string. Any suggestions?

If you are able to connect with sqlplus, then this really becomes a question of how to define a data connection in Excel.
    But after quickly googling ..
    In excel ...
    "Data" tab
    "from other sources"
    "from data connection wizard"
    select ODBC DSN
On data link properties, select the "connection" tab
select "Use Data Source Name" and hit the drop-down
select a dsn that you had previously set up to point to the oracle database.
Anyway, that looks like how it is supposed to be done.  I'm getting a dll initialization error.  Probably due to the fact I have both 32-bit and 64-bit oracle clients, and windows never handles that very gracefully.  But then Windows never graceffully handles anything that isn't MicroSoft.   To paraphrase Forest Gump, "My momma always said Windows was like a box of chocolates.  You never know what you're going to get."
In any event, the error you report means it was actually tying to look it up in tnsnames, but what you supplied wasn't found there.  That can also be a big issue when dealing with MS products, because they don't use the same terminology, so lead people into entering something other than what Oracle expects.  Are you referencing an ODBC DSN?  If so, have you tested that apart from Excel?

  • Error when installing the JAVAVM in oracle 9.2

    Hi,
Today I tried to install the JAVAVM in my database. The version of the database is 9.2 in HP unix mechine.
I ran the script initjvm.sql. Few procedures for created successfully but after some time I got the below error and disconnected from oracle.

And in the dba_registry the JAVAVM state is in LOADING state.
    Your help is required.
    Thanks in advance,

Please consult oracle documentation [Oracle9i Java Developers Guide R2 | http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10501_01/java.920/a96656/config.htm#1009388] look for Java memory requirements(You must have at least 20 MB of JAVA_POOL_SIZE and 50 MB of SHARED_POOL_SIZE)... and other requirements. I guess this could be a memory issue.

  • Error when install latest ODB with Oracle Designer

I need to use Oracle Discoverer.
So I removed all traces of Oracle from my machine.
    Installed Oracle Designer Suite.
    It worked.
Then I installed Oracle Data Provider for .NET 9.2.0.2.102..
I got 2 errors during install. One was due to a service (OracleHomeAgent) which I shut down easily.
    The other, was more trouble:
Error in writing to file C:\Oracle\Ora92\bin\oci.dll
I could find no more Oracle services to shut down.
Nor did an IISRESET release it .
So I told it to ignore copying that file.
    Then it finished.
My web applications which use ODP seem to work fine.
But am I at risk for some error?
Why would OCI.DLL not allow itself to be installed?
    Is that a problem?
    thanks
    David Kreth Allen

Most likely, some MS OS services, not Oracle services, are locking your oci.dll. Please refer to the following thread for a workaround.

  • Error when installing apex 4.2.2

    Hi All,
I know it's a quite new version of APEX but we have decided to upgrade our current version (4.1.1) to the new 4.2.2.
I downloaded it from this link (OTN).
I unzipped downloaded file in: /usr/lib/oracle/xe/ (Renamed previous APEX version folder to "apex4.1.1").
Then I followed steps listed in this link in order to get APEX upgraded to 4.2.2 version.
After a few minutes, the installation process failed with below error:
    alter package wwv_flow_security compile body
    Error at line1:
ORA-04021: timeout ocurred while waiting to lock object
    APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_SECURITY
I have checked through database and found that  this package (APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_SECURITY) is locked by that user (APEX_040200).
It seems that something is wrong with the installation process as it creates the APEX_040200 and then its package WWV_FLOW_SECURITY.
I have reverted this installation. This process includes dropping APEX_040200 user using cascade mode. So I made sure that all db objects were deleted for that user. Then I re-run installation process with no luck. I got same error message.
Have you ever experienced this kind of error during APEX upgrade process? Am I missing some step before running this process?
I really appreciate your help on this!!
    Daniel.

              ) b
    WHERE a.tablespace_name = b.tablespace_name
    AND    a.tablespace_name = 'SYSAUX';
    Results:
    TABLESPACE_NAME                     TBS_SIZE   FREE_SPACE
    SYSAUX                                                  1330                  8.75
It seems you were right. It could be a tablespace size issue. Should I increase SYSAUX tablespace size?

  • Errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 on zLinux (Red Hat)

I am receiving errors when installing Oracle Client 10.2.0.2.0 (Administrator) on zLinux. During the install I receive two notifications for File Not Found when the installer tries to create the link for lib32/libclntsh.so.10.1. I hit ignore on the pop-ups and the install completes. The Oracle Net Configuration Assistant then fails to launch with the following error:

This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.
I have seen multiple threads relating to very similar errors, but none of the fixes that were suggested have worked. I have double checked the required Red Hat packages and made sure they were all installed on the server. All of the prerequisite checks for the installer are successful. Any assistance would be of most helpful!

Worked with my Linux system admin and figured out that we were indeed missing some packages. There are 390 and 390x rpm's for Red Hat on System Z, i.e. 64 bit and 32 bit versions. Since we are running a 64 bit os some of those 32 bit packages did not get installed. Since our roles are split up, I am kind of blind as to the OS setup so I was not able to catch the problem. It is truly puzzling as to why Oracle would need 32 bit packages even though Oracle client is 64 bit. Regardless, after adding the 32 bit rpm's the installer was able to perform the linking operation that was failing, and the network configuration script ran successfully.

    Welcome to the forums !
Pl indicate which version of 10g you are installing and on which version of Win 2008. Neither 10gR1 nor 10gR2 are certified to be installed on Win 2008 R1, AFAIK.
For 10gR2, only 10.2.0.5 is certified for Win 2008 R2 - see MOS Doc 1173433.1 (How to Install Oracle 10.2.0.5 on MS Windows 7 / Windows 2008R2)
Also see MOS Doc 740926.1 (Where can I find the Database / Client software to download for Microsoft Vista, or Windows 2008R1?).
Both 10gR1 and 10gR2 are now in extended support - is there a reason you are not using 11gR2 ?

You do not have to look too far. OHS 11g is based on Apache 2.2. and available as 32-bit and 64-bit version for Linux. The OAM 10.1.4.3 WebPass on the other hand for OHS is only available as 32-bit module. I have posted a short description on how to install it on a 64-bit Linux env.

I don't know much about the 10g Releases yet but I had the same error with 9.0.2.3. The problem is that OID isn't available when it needs to be.
When you get the error, start OID using the command line then try running the config assistant again.
