Error when publishing web templates in the portal

hi Gurus,
I am getting this error when I try to publish my web report on the portal,
Field E_SX_META_DATA not a member of OUTPUT.
Can anyone please let me know how to go about fixing this error ?

Hi,
You mean you want to execute the template even after this design time error. If yes then you can simply go to the backend and Transaction "SE38" then in the next screen type "RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN_70" and then in the next screen type your template name ans then press "Execute" button to see temlate in Java Web.

Caching web templates using the portal cache - experiences

Hi,
To improve performance, I would like to cache a (7.0) web template in the portal. I adjusted the iView by changing the following fields:
Cache Level to shared
Cache Validity Period to 1 hour
However, the template still takes 10 seconds to load, the same time as before.
The template doesn't have a variable screen that is shown (all variables are optional), so according to note 1002778 'Caching in the Enterprise Portal' there doesn't seem te be a problem.
Do you have suggestions why it doesn't work, and if there steps I could perform to make it working?

Finally SAP OSS has answered me on portal caching in BI 7.0. From their reaction:
"In the new Portal infrastructure in NetWeaver 7.0 the iView properties
for iView portal caching are not evaluated by BI as it was in BW 3.5.
In 3.5 portal infrastructure this feature had special implementation
which was evaluated as not situable for the NW 7.0 infrastructure.
The iView properties are visible, even if they do not fit to BI
iViews as we do not have the possiblity to switch off this visibility
for some types of iViews.
Nevertheless, some parts like Web Templates, Web Items are stored
in the cache on Java Server and are reused when the same Template
is loaded again.
So in 7.0 we do not have functionality like in 3.x for storing of
the generrated HTML. As of my knowladge, there is no workaround for
that (besides what you have mentioned."
So we'll have to wait for the BO stuff, which has pretty good pre-calculations options which can serve as cache.

About web templates inside the portal

Hi !
I need your help because I would like to do something and I cant do it, even after reading a lot of documentation.
I would like to display my lovely web templates (made with the Web Application Designer) inside the portal, through the BI > Bex Web Analyzer. But there, I can only open queries, views and infoproviders.
Is there an easy way to display my web templates in the portal ?

Hi Cedric,
The setting of web templates for BEX is available in BI.
You can check IMG setting in the SPRO transaction, setting up the BEX templates.
There you can define the tchnical name of the template.
After the changes been done, remember to restart the ABAP stack.

Urgent - Error when opening web template

Hello,
I was trying to open few CRM SAP standard web template in WAD. When I try to open the web template, getting the following error:
'The selected web template contains HTML fragments, non-supported web items or it is not designed to be edited with WAD. ......' Although I can execute templates and also can execute with 'RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN' in BWD.
I tried all the CRM web templates and getting same opening error. How can I solve this problem? I want to see the template in WAD. Is there any solution?

You can only view the template "HTML" (code) view with WAD for the problem you described. This can be done using RS_TEMPLATE_MAINTAIN or WAD. You cannot view the template using WAD to get the "Layout" graphical view (is this what you are trying to see?).
The only way to get around this is to strip out the HTML "fragments" from the HTML code, or to partition the templates into sub-templates.

Error when uploading BW roles into the Portal

I am trying to upload one standard BW role with 3 BW web applications into the Portal using Portal's RoleUpload functionality. Teh BW role gets uploaded fine in the Portal, but the Portal fails to create the iViews for the Web Applications. The error I am getting is below:

I am also getting the same while uploading the BW 3.5 role to Portal 6.0, Role gets created but iviews throws the same error as you are getting.

Can I run a 3.5 web template in the Portal

I need to use the BW 3.5 Table Interface so that I can insert a character in a column. The character I insert needs to be determined dynamically based on the data returned in the query. In BI 7.0, the Table Interface functionality is obsolete. Since I know I can do this in BW 3.5, I need to know if I can run a BW 3.5 web report in the Portal.

check tcode - SU53 for authorization error immediately after you get the error ,if you find some fwd it to ur basis to assign proper auth to your user id.

Error when loading Web Template from Web Dynpro

I work on a BI ABAP server. I'm trying to integrate a BIApplicationFrame in my ABAP Web Dynpro application.
First, I created a Web Template (named ZTPL_Z0AFSD_C01_Q0001) with Web Application Designer and I can run it from there. It works fine. The address looks like :

So, it looks like that the server is found but my Web Template is unknown for Web Dynpro. Did I forgot a step after the creation of the Web Template that would 'activate' it and make it visible? Why the two Web Address looks so different?

Also make sure that you have installed 0ANALYSIS objects from Business Content->Object types -> BEx Web Template and choose all 0ANALYSIS objects and install the same.

Run-time error when saving Web Template

I recently got upgraded to Windows XP SP2 from Windows 2000. Since then, when I make a change to a Web template, it can be as simple as check a Web Item property, and then try to save it, I get an error. A window (called SAPBWWebAppDesigner) pops up with the message "Run-time error '-2147417848 (80010108) Automation error. The object invoked has disconnected from its clients".
I then get thrown out of WAD and have to log in again. has anyone encountered this behavior?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I had a lot of troubles with WAD and there are two causes of those:
1. bad installation of SAP GUI and its add-ons (see note 197460)
2. bugs in WAD
Check note:
857360 and those (but they are pretty old) 815044, 318248, 647405, 573436,
Conclusion from above notes is to install latest GUI patch - talk about this with your basis staff (I think most recent for v6.40 is patch 11

Authorization error when running a report from the portal

Hello,
I am trying to run a certain report under a certain user in the portal.
If I run this report with this user from the BW it is working but if I run it from the portal with this user it doesn't. The error I receive in the portal is this:
ABEND: Program error in class SAPMSSY1 method : UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
ABEND: Errors while reading InfoProvider data
ABEND: Error in BW:
ABEND: You do not have authorization for the data transfer process
Which other authorizations the user needs?

Variants of web templates in the portal

Hello,
We launch our BI web templates via iViews in the portal. Some users
have saved their personal variants in the portal, but after the version
of the web template has changed, they do not access their variants any
more.
Are the variants in the portal linked to the version of the web
template ? How is it possible to retrieve the variants ?

Logon to the BI system and go to transaction SE37 and execute RSBB_URL_PREFIX_GET to get the portnumber, try applying this and test your iview again.
If this does not resolve the issue I suggest you to refer to SAP Note 937697 - Usage of SAP NetWeaver BI Diagnostics & Support Desk Tool, it is a pretty simple tool and helps in resolving most issues with regards to BI Portal integration.

Publishing web templates in static HTML

Hi,
When broadcasting web templates to HTML, must you publish them into the portal or can they simply reside on the BW server as static HTML pages and accessible via a URL?
I ask because I am implementing a dashboard and the web templates should be pre-calculated to be very quick performance-wise.
Second question, If I have two different web templates that I want to precalculate/publish twice (with different selections) how do you define the naming convenstion for the html file names? Eg.
WebTemplateName_Variable1_Variable2_Chart.html
WebTemplateName_Variable1_Variable2_Data.html

I can get a web template to work with the data_mode=static url parameter set, but only when I call up the template alone, without any variable selections in the url. As soon as I set variables via url params, I get the error message: "requested document could not be found". The strange thing is that in the "document overview" of the reporting agent I can see the HTML file does exist for that selection criteria (and the query works in static_hybrid mode, which proves that the url parameter use the correct syntax)! Additionally, I can call up the correct html file directly via the url:
/sap/bw/doc/tmpl/FLDTMPL/LATEST/LATEST_SD011_COMPLAINT_PER_CUSTOMER/SD011_COMPLAINT_PER_CUSTOMER_00001.htm
but not with :

This is on BW3.5. Note 594340 describes the problem, but the fix is only valid for version 3.1.

Error in saving Web Templates

I am currently seeing a problem in creating new Web Templates in Web Application Designer in SMD. The error occurs when a Web Template is newly created or when an existing Template is modified but clicking the OK button in the error dialog screen allows you to proceed with saving the template.

Is there any known corrections/ implications in regards to this error? Thank you.

Check and make sure BI and Portal connection is configured. Use note 917950 for checking this.
Also make sure you have the latest WAD SP level (Sp 12)
