  • Problem putting music onto ipod

I have bought an ipod nano and installed the software. I'm having some trouble putting songs onto the ipod as follows:
    - have followed the tutorial
    - have already got 160 songs on my computer
    - have connected the ipod per the tutorial
    - have allowed the ipod battery to be well-charged up
    - but the songs are not transferring to the ipod (the tutorial says this happens automatically)
    - instead, my ipod shows a red circle and the message "do not disconnect".
    - note: the battery is fully charged already.
Can anyone offer any help ?
Note: I'm not sure if my USB is good enough (apparently USB 2.0 is recommended). I don't understand what USB 2.0 is, but I have the following: Dell Latitude CSx, windows 2000, intel 'pentium' inside, 'normal' looking usb port at the back of the laptop.
Many thanks if you can help,
    vaccav

You will need a USB 2.0 port on your computer. If you are trying to dock the Nano on a USB 1.0, it will probably not work. When I had my PC, it was getting somewhat old & in order to use a 3G iPod I had to install a firewire card as I only had a USB 1.0 port. How old is your computer as this may help us figure out what kind fo USB you have?
And here's some more information that I found by "google" using USB 1.0 which should help you figure out what you have.
On Microsoft Windows platforms, one can tell whether a USB port is version 2.0 by opening the Device Manager and checking for the word "Enhanced" in its description; only USB 2.0 drivers will contain the word "Enhanced."

  • Can't put music onto ipod on itunes

    Hello,
I'm a lifelong mac user, but I despise iTunes with an absolute passion. Here's the latest: I got an iPod (30gig) and want to select from among my 160 gigs or so of music and audiobooks (all mpegs) and put some on my iPod (onto the iPod icon, which does show up in iTunes). But when I put the files into my iTunes library and then try to drag them onto my iPod, nothing happens. If I try to move files from my music folder, the computer says they're moving, but then I can't find them on the iPod.
I have it set up to move stuff manually, not synch.
I have successfully moved playlists in the past, but I can't even do that anymore. The iPod itself seems to be working okay...?
    Thanks for any help!

  • Computer Freezes When Putting Music on iPod 60gb

    Hi,
Just got a replacement iPod 60gb (5th gen) and I have been putting all 6000 songs (or so) back onto it. everytime I drag the songs, the computer freezes (after different times)
why does it do this?? And how can I stop it?
    Thanks.
    Dan.

Id say (Taking for granted your on manual update since your drag and dropping) is there theres alot of info going back and forth over the USB connection. If your adding ALL the music, it will be easier to just set the iPOd to "Auto Update" and have iTUnes send it all over at once

  • ITunes freezes when syncing music onto iPod after restoring

I have an iPod Touch 4th generation. This thing has become my life, but it has given me ungodly amount of problems since the day I got it. It is updated and always remains that way. Well, due to the amount of problems I had I decided to start fresh and restore my iPod. It seemed to work which was great. I slowly built things back onto it: first all my apps, then photos and onto music. When it came to my music, iTunes would seem to freeze on one song and stop syncing. This has gotten very frustrating for me.
Am I doing anything wrong? I mean, I restored it completely thinking that it would be fine and act as a new iPod again. Obviously I was very wrong.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • I am trying to move a pdf file onto my iPad2, and it says that the device is not connected or has stopped working.  But Windows 7 recognizes the device and I can see my pictures.  Same thing happens when I try to put music onto the iPad.

I am trying to move a pdf file onto my iPad2, and it says that the device is not connected or has stopped working.  But Windows 7 recognizes the device and I can see my pictures.  Same thing happens when I try to put music onto the iPad.

When in iTunes on the computer,my our ipadmshould show under devices.
Click on your ipadmunder devices then go to music at top center of the iTunes window, check what you want to sync for music. You need to set it to a folder if I remember which would have your music in it you want synced.
Same with PDF files.....there should be an option for data or even PDF files at the top center area of iTunes when the iPad is clicked under devices.
If your iPad does not show or you cannot click on it under devices which is in the leftane of iTunes, the iPad is not being seen by the computer.
Try unplugging the USB cord from the laptop then give it a few and see if the computer picks it up.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Trying to sync music onto iPod but iTunes 11 keeps crashing

I am trying to sync my entire iTunes library music onto iPod but iTunes 11 keeps crashing (using Windows 8 laptop)
I have tried to do it manually in little chunk and also tried the auto sync method too.
I have restored my ipod to factory setting 12 times now and retry but just when I think I'm getting somewhere iTunes freezes in the middle of the sync and then tell me it "cannot copy  because of unknown error (-50)"
From then on my Ipod refuses to accept any more syncing, it may do one and then it freezes again, iTunes says there is an issue with iPod, so I run a scan fix, it is repaired but then iTunes wants me to "restore to factory settings" again, it's a never ending circle, I get it fixed, iTunes crashes and then I have to fix, restore and start all over again just to have the same thing happen all over again
I have read here and there that there seems to be a bug in iTunes 11 when it comes to syncing.
I don't know what else to do, except revert back to iTunes 10 but I don't know how to do that either.
Anyone else had same issue syncing their library over to their iPod and how I fix it?

    Hi, ktchinagirl.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There are a couple reason this issue could be happening.  I have included a couple troubleshooting resources below that may help resolve this issue.  Some of the articles are missing the steps for Windows 8, try the steps for Windows 7 as an alternative.
iTunes: May become unresponsive when connecting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3219
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. An incorrectly set default packet size can cause this error. Contact the software manufacturer that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows:How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

This could be related to security software conflicts.  If the steps above have not resolved the issue, I would recommend going through the troubleshooting steps in the article below.

  • My itunes wont let me put music onto my iphone

My itunes wont let me put music onto my iphone or take music off. Everytime I go to sync it it says I dont have enough space but I clearly have more than enough space left. I also am trying to take music off of my iphone so I can put new music on but everytime this box pops up and I really dont know what to do.

I think you have misunderstood the message you see.
The message states that you need an additional 1.93GB as well as the 3.93GB shown in the capacity bar. So it requires a total of 5.86GB.
There are a couple of things you can try:
Click on the OK button (in that message) and then deselect the media that you wish to remove. Once you have un-ticked the Playlists, or albums or whatever, click on the Sync button again to allow iTunes to Sync. It will then remove the un-ticked items, leaving space to add the 5.86GB that you are trying to add. If you continue to see the same message, but with a smaller additional amount required, then you have not deselected enough items.
Check how much space is being used by the "Other" category (shown in the capacity bar). While there will always be a small amount of Other on an iPod, anything over 1GB is probably not correct. Usually, a Sync will sort this out. If it doesn't then you may have to perform a Restore procedure, but I suggest you use that only as a last resort.

  • I just got a brand new laptop and I can't seem to put music onto my iPhone - help?

I just got a brand new laptop and I can't seem to put music onto my iPhone - help? I'd really rather not completely empty my iPhone in order to have it agree with this new laptop. How do I get them to talk to one another and let me put my music on my iPhone?

The iPhone will only Sync to One iTunes Library at a time.

I want to put music onto an sd card but when I try to copy paste or drag and drop it tells me that this disk is write-protected. How do I put music onto a sd card?

and i can see the memory used going down... once its finished the used goes back to what it was before!!
if that's happening to both ipods on the same computer, we'd better check on the possibility from this document:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive or hard drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • I want to put music onto my partners phone from my Mac computer. The message comes up that her phone is synced with another iTunes library (not in use anymore) and do I want to erase this iPhone and sync with this itunes library.

There is currently no music on her iPhone and all the apps are already in the iTunes library on the mac that I want to sync it to so its not a problem, the apps won't be lost.
My question is are photos and messages and contacts classified as iPhone contents? Because I don't want those to be wiped. So can I sync her phone to this iTunes library? I have not been able to find online whether or not photos and contacts will be lost.
Also her phone is already backed up on this computer because it gets plugged into it all the time we have just not tried to put music onto it yet until now.
Thanks for any help clarifying this

You may need to do a Restore in iTunes.
Clicking sounds from an iPod that has a hard drive is probably not a good thing.  It is possible that your iPod's hard drive is becoming unreliable.
