Error when trying to copy files to a DVD+RW

I am unable to copy images to a brand new blank DVD+RW disc. I keep getting an error message "Current disc canot be overwritten...". Please help.

I can use Windows 7 to copy the picture files by opening the blank DVD and dragging the files to the disc folder; I just cannot see any way to use PSE 9 to copy the files because it keeps giving me the error message that the disc cannot be overwritten.
I would like to use PSE 9 to copy images to a DVD, rather than have to use windows.

  • Error when trying to copy files to external drive

When attempting to copy files to external hard drive I get a message " unable to copy some data, error code -36".
How do I find out what that error code is tring to tell me?

Sadly, I have had this issue as well. Last eyar Iit got to the point I couldn't copy at all. From what I recall, Apple told me it could be one of many things. A bad internal drive, bad permissions, a bad external drive, a bad firewire port, a bad cable, bad memory, and on and on. I never did figure it out, but I do know my hard drive did crash a month later. However, having said that, I own a new computer, and last week, it started again. Still have not figured out what is going on. Good luck.

  • Error -50 when trying to copy files to external hard drive.

When trying to copy files (itunes music folder) to an external hard drive, I get the following message: Copying music failed. An unknown error occurred (-50).
I have tried repairing disk permissions but still get the message. Any thoughts?

    Gary,
A couple of posts referencing "error -50" seem to indicate that the error could result from a corrupted file.
    One from Kappy follows:
    Error -50 Post
One way you could save your music to the other drive would be to do it folder by folder (dragging each artist's folder, to the other drive). I suspect you won't have many (if any) errors doing that, and if you hit the corrupted file, you can come back to that folder and see which one is bad. You could also try to drag groups of artists folders to the drive if you had quite a few. One note: If you save your files this way, you won't be saving the library, which contains all the playlists you've created...you'll have to recreate them.
If you needed that music down the road, you could just do a File>Import from iTunes....
    Hope this helps,
    Bob

  • Error when trying to recover files

I'm getting a "No Backup servers found" error when trying to recover files from my Azure backup vault. Any ideas folks?

    Hi,
Please login to Azure Portal and check if you are able to see other servers from which you have backed up data, in the Portal.
Also, prerequisites for recovering file and folder data to a different server are:
    ·         The target server is registered with the same Backup Vault the source server was backed up to.
    ·         You have the passphrase used to encrypt the data from the source server.

  • Error message when trying to copy files from memory stick to MacBookPro

Trying to copy files from my memory stick to my MacBookPro and have started to get a crazy error message - "Attempting to copy to the disk Macintosh HD failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."
I've never had a problem before today. Any help will be welcomed!

Try this. When the stick is mounted on your desktop, right click "Get Info" and at the bottom choose "ignore ownership on this drive." See if that works.

  • Java error when trying to edit file - access denied

We have been running Vibe 3.0 for a couple years with no issues but suddenly users have begun to get java errors when trying to edit a file from Vibe. When a file entry is opened and the "Edit this file" link is clicked, a dialog pops up that says :
    Error from command:
    java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission <<ALL FILES>> execute)
Has anyone else seen this? Could it be related to some windows security update perhaps? Any ideas how to resolve would be appreciated. This happens with regular users as well as admin.
Vibe is running on SLES 10 with mysql. We are using IIS Windows Authentication.
    Thanks

  • When trying to burn files to a DVD (DVD RDL from Memorex) an error message appears saying: Impossible to burn the disk because communication failed between disk player and computer (error code 0x80020022)

When trying to burn files (1,7 GB) to a Memorex DVD, an error messge says: Impossible to burn the disk because communication between disk player and computer failed (error code #  0x80020022).
Is the Memorex incompatible with my i-Mac or what could it be ?
    My i-Mac is a 21", Core 2 Duo with 3.06 GHz. RAM is 8Go 1067MHz DDR3.
    Thanks.

That message is usually caused by poor media. i.e. poor coating quality.
Mermorex is generally regarded by most users here as poor quality media. So is TDK. Most of us prefer Verbatim, Fuji, Maxell or Taiyu Yuden DVD-R.
Also burn at only 2x or 4x burn speed.

  • Error in Console: "Failed to check-in!" when trying to copy files.

Whenever I try to copy files, I get the "Preparing to copy..." dialog, which never gets beyond the striped bar. At the same time I try to copy a file, in the Console, I get an error of "Failed to check-in!" Also I get a similar reaction when I try to empty the trash, it just hangs at the "Preparing..." dialog with the striped bar.
I have tried restarting, running repair/verify on the permission and disk. Have also tried Disk Warrior with no success. Does anyone have an idea of what's going on?

I reinstalled Snow Leopard and it fixed the problem.

  • Error when trying to copy media files on BB

    Hi
Just got my first BB and it's the most amazing thing since Chuck Norris!!!
    But I'm feeling very frustrated
I just can't seem to copy any media filed unto my BB, I keep getting errors....
I've installed the software and connected my phone, when asked to connect with "Mass storage" and said NO. I go into the Roxio application to manage media files. I chose the correct folders and when I select a file and click on the "Copy down" or  "Copy down" button it gives for 3 options:
    Convert for optical playback
    Copy with no conversion
    Advanced conversion options
Doesn't matter which one I choose it gives me the same error. It also doesn't matter if I choose "Device memory" or "Memory card". I keep getting the same error:
One or more of the following files could not be transferred
I might be doing something wrong because I'm still a BB virgin -Hope someone can please help )
    Thanks!

    Thanks
But I thought that when you chose Mass storage  "YES" you cannot use the files on your phone?
aka access music files for ringtones, etc?
That's what I'm trying to do...

  • I get error 8062 when trying to copy files from one external hard drive to another. It starts out copying files, but after 10 minutes or so it stops and I get the error 8062. The hard drive tech support says the problem is in my Macbook Air.

I cannot copy my doc and photos and videos from one external hard drive to a second external hard drive -- both plugged in to my MacBook Air -- I get Error 8062 and the copying (which seemed to be going on for 10 minutes) stops and nothing gets copied.
As any Macbook Air owner knows, there is SO LITTLE storage capacity on the computer that you have to back up big files onto an external hard drive to avoid getting the other annoying error that says you have no more memory/storage capacity/whatever the proper term is, and you cannot use the computer.
Backstory: Before this error cropped up, I had backed up lots of files to an external drive and then removed them from my computer. But then the external hard drive got corrupted and I could not access my entire photo library. Had to pay $850 to Kroll Ontrack to recover those files. I have now bought 2 new external 1 Terrabyte  hard drives as protection against another such disaster. BUT I cannot copy the files from the first hard drive where all my reovered files now sit, to another backup hard drive.
    Feeling vulnerable. Please help.

    From the menu bar, select
 ▹ System Preferences ▹ Energy Saver ▹ Power Adapter
and uncheck the box labeled Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible, if it's checked.
If the drive has more than one interface (USB, FireWire, Thunderbolt, eSATA), try one of the other interfaces.
Check that the data cable is securely inserted at both ends.
    Try a different cable.
If you're connecting the drive through a hub, connect it directly to a built-in port on the Mac.
If you're connecting it directly, try a different port.
Disconnect all other devices on the bus, or as many as possible.
Test the drive with another Mac. Test another drive with this Mac.
If the drive is bus-powered, but has an AC adapter, connect the adapter.
Start up in Safe Mode and test.
If the drive doesn't work under any of the above conditions, and if another drive does work with the same Mac, then the drive has failed. You may be able to salvage the mechanism by removing it from the enclosure and installing it in another one, or in a drive dock.

  • Error -51 when trying to copy file to windows server 2012

When I try to copy a file from OSX to windows server 2012 share, it acts like its going to start and i get a pinwheel and finder is acting slow and finally error -51. although it does seem to copy over the folder with correct name but no files inside. I had this issue on mavericks as well and now on yosemite beta. Please help!
    Jarrod

If the drive is formatted HFS then you are limited to 32 characters on a file name. If it is formatted HFS + then you can have file names as long as 255 characters. I am not familiar withi the format you say the drive is formatted in so I can't speak to it.
If you are receiving -50 errors that can indicate a file name that is too long OR an illegal character in the filename regardless of its length.
If you are actually using 10.3.8 as your profile states then that may be part of the problem. Many of these problems existed in 10.3.X but were fixed in 10.4
I remember that 10.3.8 had issues copying to external drives when there were more than a certain number of characters in a filename. I don't remember the number but for some reason 10 or 12 is what comes to mind. It caused me many problems when I would try and copy files to a Zip disk that I used to have. Since I updated to 10.4 those issues have never occured again.
Since you know what folder the problematic files are in why not just open the folder and try to copy files one at a time. When you get to the one(s) that is a problem, change the file name to something shorter.
A better solution would be to update to 10.4 but with 10.5 coming out sometime in the Spring of 2007 this may not be the time.

  • Error when trying to retrieve files from 1Tb Seagate hard drive

    15" MacBookPro mid 2009 OS 10.8.4.
I can copy small files individually but get this error message for large files or folders. "The operation can’t be completed because the (filename) is in use".
Some of these files were saved through Time Machine and some just copied across, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
I have tried many fixes (including Lgof etc. in terminal) but none work.  I have no applications open when trying to retrieve.  I have set my permissions properly, I have used Disk Utility to check permissions and repair them if necesarry.  I have read and write access to the drive.
This has been going on for ages.  If I can't fix it, some of my files will be irretrieveable and I will have to copy small ones individually.
    Any ideas?
