Error while export data from a xml file to an relational table
Hi,
I am Creating an ODI Project: Developing an ODI XML to Database Transformation Using Interface with ODI Constraint following this link
http://www.oracle.com/webfolder/technetwork/tutorials/obe/fmw/odi/odi_11g/odi_project_xml-to-table/odi_project_xml-to-table.htm
This project executed successfully with some warning.*Target Table is automatically created in database and also populated with data*.But when I right-click Target Datastore(in Mapping Tab of the Interface), and then select Data to View Data that needs to be inserted in the target table. I get some error like this:-

Error while loading data from a text file to a datastore
Hi all,
i am a starter in ODI. I am trying to load data from a text file into a datastore. I have put the file on a unix server whose location is defined in the topology manager. when i am trying to "view data" it is giving me error file does not exist at <location where i have put the file>. Please help meHi,
1. If your files are on a remote File System, you will need to copy one of your files to the machine ODI Designer is running on to allow ODI to retrieve the metadata information of the file.
2. In Topology create a Physical Schema, the directory you enter for Data and Work Schema should point at this local file.
3. Then define the File Datastore in ODI Designer. Enter a name, browse and select the file and fill in each filed of the Files tab.
* If its a Fixed file, click on the grid icon on the Columns tab to enter the columns and have Automatic Adjustment checked.
* If its a Delimited file, use the Reverse button on the Columns tab to reverse the columns.
* Right click on the File Datastore select View Data, if you can view data, that means the File Datastore has been defined correctly.
* If not, check each tab of the File Datastore to make sure everything is defined correctly and retry.
4. Once View Data is successful, you now change the directories (Data and Work Schema in Topology) to point at the remote File System. These directories must be accessible to the ODI Agent that will be used to run the transformations. The directory can be an absolute path (m:/public/data/files) or relative to the ODI Agent startup directory (../demo/files). It is strongly advised to use a UNC (independent from the execution location) for the path. When running the transformations with "no agent", the directory is relative to the directory where Oracle Data Integrator has been installed.
You need to have a agent process running at the system where your source file resides .
Then while running the odi interface choose that agent .

Error while exporting data from sql server to excel
Hi,
I am trying to export data from sql server to excel.
The query that I used is s follows
INSERT INTO OPENROWSET( 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', 'Excel 8.0;Database=C:\Folder1\abc.xls','select * from [Sheet1$A1:IV65000]')
select
column1,column2.... from Table1
I get the following error message while doing so..
String or binary data would be truncated.
The statement has been terminated.
One of the column's holds data more than 225 characters.
What is the way to correct this, i want the whole data of the colum in the excel sheet.I haven't had great luck with the INSERT INTO OPENROWSET method. Can you try one of the many samples from one of these 3 links?

i do debug on this and find the LS_FIELDCAT-INTTYPE = " P". so i changed it the QUAN type with length 13 decimal places 2. i can't change it in "C" char type or "NUMC" type because i need the output in decimals. the output is for amount and quantity so need this in decimal places up to 2 or 3.
but still find the same, i do debug on it after change it into QUAN type. find the same value for LS_FIELDCAT-INTTYPE = " P".
let me know how can i define this in char type with decimal places or what.
Please give some suggestion, if you need code, i will post the code.
Thanks in advance

Error while uploading data from a flat file
Hi All,
I am trying to load data from a flat file to an ODS. The flat file contains a field, say FLAT01, of numerical type(Type Decimal, Length 18, Decimals 2). I have created an infoobject, say ZIO10, with type CURR and currency field, 0CURRENCY. In the transfer rules, I have assigned a constant for 0CURRENCY as the flat file doesn't have any currecy field.
The problem is the flat file doesn't have any value in that field, FLAT01, for some records, infact most of the records. When I try to load it to BW,from applicatin server, it is throwing an error "Contents from field ZIO10 cannot be converted in type CURR ->longtext".
I have debugged the transfer rules and find that the empty value is being represented as '#' and when it is trying to copy it into the CURR type field, it is throwing the error.
Can someone please let me know how to solve it? why is it taking '#' for enpty value? Can't we change that?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Best Regards,
James.

James HelsinkiHi SS,
I am sorry that I was not clear with my explanation. I have created ZIO10 as a keyfigure with type AMOUNT and the currency as 0CURRENCY.
There is no currency coming in from the flat file so I used a constant in transfer rules to fill 0CURRENCY.
The field which is coming as '#' is FLAT01 which is assigned to ZIO10.

James. -
Error while exporting data from HCM to VDS

I verified the database connectivity from VDS to IDS when seems fine since the LDAP_SEARCH is working fine.

Select data from an XML Column in a Relational Table
Hi guys,
I read a lot of documentation from Oracle how to select xml nodes from an XML Table. The following statement works perfectly for an XML table.
select extract(OBJECT_VALUE, '/loop/loop_data/description') "DESCRIPTION"
from loop_table

Error while loading data from a file on application server
Hi all,
Facing an error while loading data from a flat file.
Error 'The argument '##yyyymmdd;@##' cannot be interpreted as a number ' while assigning character.
I changed the format of date fields (tried with number,general,date(International))in the xls. But i still get the same error.Did check all the data types in Data source all the fields are dats.
Can you please tell me what could be the problem?
Thank you all,
PraveenHi all,
As far as my first question i got through it but i had one more field in my flat file while actually is a time stamp, but in my flat file i have a data in this format
10/21/2006 5:11:48 AM which i need to change to 10/21/2006
one more note is i have some of the fields as NULL in this field
Last Updated Date
10/21/2006 5:11:48 AM
10/21/2006 5:11:48 AM
NULL
NULL
10/21/2006 5:11:48 AM
NULL
I want to display the values as 10/21/2006 and NULL as it is.
Please let me know if we have a conversion routine in datasource which can solve my problem.

Symptom(s)
~~~~~~~~~~
You are performing a database export against your 9.2 database. The database
export abnormally ends with the following errors:
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 31600 encountered
ORA-31600: invalid input value EMIT_SCHEMA for parameter NAME in function
SET_TRANSFORM_PARAM
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SYS_ERROR", line 105
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_METADATA_INT", line 3926
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_METADATA_INT", line 4050
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_METADATA", line 836
ORA-06512: at line 1
EXP-00000: Export terminated unsuccessfully
Change(s)
~~~~~~~~~~
One of the known causes for the error above is that a patchset was recently
applied to the database but one or more of the patchset steps were not
performed.
Cause
~~~~~~~
View the readme notes for the patchset recently installed. You will see a step
that should have been performed that directs you to run the script named
catpatch.sql. Very likely this step was never performed.
Fix
~~~~
As the sysdba user run the catpatch.sql script found in the directory named
$ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin. Before you submit this script, view it's contents.
You may see that this script places the database in restricted mode.

What does gamma set to 10 mean? - default gamma is usually 2.2
Premiere Pro default gamma is set to 10. It can range from 1 to 28. Is the default of 10 really a gamma factor of 2.2? And how can we determine the actual gamma correction using Adobe's 1-28 scale?
