Error while installing "The product keycode you entered is not valid"

Get this message while installing CR Server XI English, even though I am entering the Product Activation Number printed on the label attached to the CD sleeve!
Any ideas?

Contact Customer Services to verify your keycode and if still an issue then try downloading SP 3 full build and install using it.

    The funny thing is, when I try to install it on a Notebook with XP pro SP2 the key is not valid.
    And on Viste the same story, not valid. So, I'm just wondering, what can be.

    On one machine iz was possible to reinstall after expiration(on Vista).
    But on the Windows Server machine it does not even asking me for the key and after the installation procedure it still says the the license is expired.
    So, on one hand I assume there is an entry in the regestrie or some where else, but why is not working on a fresh machine.
    By the way, I use the same keycode and it was allready working before.
    It sounds probably stupid, but may be it is an Issue with the new year.

    I had the same problem and it turned out, it is an issue with the current year.
    On one machine I turned back the date to the last year, and suprise, the key is valid.

    So we apparently have some ancient customers using ancient computers that are running ancient versions of Windows.  Namely, Windows XP.
    Our developers need to do some regression testing of new versions of our software and need to test it on Windows XP.  I'm trying to spin up a VM with XP and am having trouble getting it to install.  I downloaded the ISO from msdn and have our volume
    license key.  However, I'm stuck during the install process where it asks for the VL key.  Any of our keys I put in, all return the error "The Product Id you entered is not valid".
    This is during the install, not trying to activate once I'm up and running.  So there's no AV software getting in the way, the VM isn'y even online yet at this point.  It seems to be checking my key against whatever internal algorithms it uses
    to see if a key is valid, and it's telling me it's not.
    Am I doing something wrong?  Is there some trick to installing XP now that it's not technically supported?

    Using a Windows XP Professional CD with SP3, install it without entering a product key.  After installation, use the
    Windows XP Product Key Update Tool to enter your VL product key.

    I am receiving an error when attempting to install
    Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013 which I downloaded from the TechNet site.  At the end of the installation process I receive the following message: 
    "Error 25004. The product key you entered cannot be used on this machine. This is most likely due to previous Office 2013 trials being installed. (System error:
    -1073422314)"
    I have never installed a trial or Beta of any Office product on this machine.   However, I have installed Office 2007 Ultimate and Office 2010 Professional Plus.  All of these are 32bit versions downloaded from TechNet site.  In addition,
    prior to this error I had attempted unsuccessfully to install the 64bit version of Office 2013 as well as standalone versions of Visio Professional 2013 x64 and Project professional 2013 x64.   All three of these installations failed due to previous
    installation of 32bit Office software, so I have downloaded the 32 bit versions but not yet tried to install, other than Office 2013. 
    I used the Custom upgrade option during the attempted install of Office 2013, specifying "keep all prior versions".
    Note that all the above was done on a new machine.  The specific purpose was to test co-existence of multiple versions of OFFICE (2007, 2010, 2013) to facilitate user training and migration.
    I have tried uninstalling via Control Panel, and performed some of the steps for manual removal, however did not do all of them since 1) They are quite lengthy and 2) Some of them seem to involve removing ALL prior versions of Office, which I do not want
    to do; the earlier versions are working properly and I do not want to have to uninstall them.  Just want to uninstall and reinstall Office 2013.   Also tried running  O15CTRREMOVE.diagcab which indicated that it could not find a problem,
    but did not seem to remove anything. 
    I have read about ten recommended TechNet articles, which recommend everything from running a FIXIt tool, uninstalling all OFFICE software, and reformatting the whole machine.  Most of these involve System error -1073418209 rather than -1073422314 (which
    is the code that I am getting).   Other than that the problem sounds the same.  This seems to be a problem with key management and copy protection in these products, dating back to 2010.  Dozens of IT professionals have tried the solutions
    and vented their frustration since other than the full format, the other solutions work only sporadically, if at all.  Some of these people had been working with trial or beta software, but many who encountered this problem had not.  As
    noted above, none of my software was a trail version.    I do not want to uninstall all the OFFICE versions, particularly if it as likely as not will not resolve the issue.   (I am also getting paranoid to the extent of fearing that
    after uninstalling everything I might not be able to reinstall any version).  I think what we need here is a definitive fix from Microsoft, though I am not too hopeful, in view of the lack of response to all the other technicians who have been struggling
    with this for at least the past three years. 
    If anyone is aware of a solution which works consistently, I would appreciate it.  Reformatting however is not an option.  Detailed instructions for completely uninstalling Office 2013 (ONLY 2013) might be helpful.  I would be willing to uninstall
    all versions, but only as a last resort, and only if there is some assurance that this will actual solve the problem (for many others it did not seem to do so).

    Thanks for your reply.   I do in fact have three versions of Office installed on this machine, 2007 2010 and (hopefully) 2013.  I have on previous occasions installed 2007 and 2010 on a single machine, but this is my first attempt to install
    2013.

    I know that the error message says that the problem is commonly caused by attempting to install trial software more than once, but that is not the case.  Several other people have reported this same problem, sometimes involving trial software but not
    in every case.    My own opinion is that this is a software bug involving key management and copy protection. 
    Many people have reported on TechNet that the problem was NOT resolved even after uninstalling all Office software.  While there is a chance I might get lucky, I really would like a solution which has a better chance for success.
    By any chance, does the error code 1073422314
    provide any further insight into this issue?

    My old PC crashed and died, and I am unable to deactivate the licence of Photoshop Elements 7.
    I re-installed Photoshop Elements 7 via a trial download from Adobe website onto my new PC, Windows 8.1 single language.
    My serial number is not accepted.
    Error message: 'Incorrect serial number, The serial number you entered is not valid. Click OK to retry serial number'.
    Customer help care is not helpful and keep ending my chat before I get a solution.

    Thank you Benjamin MItchley.  I reviewed the chat log and I can confirm that they are correct we do not provide installation support for Photoshop Elements 7 due to the age of the software title.  Photoshop Elements 7 also does not support activation so there is no risk that you were unable to deactivate the software on your previous computer.
    I am showing the serial number under your account was provided from an equipment manufacturer.  It is possible there may have been a customized installer for that version.  Have you contacted the computer manufacturer to obtain the installation files for the copy of Photoshop Elements 7 included with your computer?
    Since you did not migrate/transfer over any files it is unlikely there is a software issue preventing the installation.  You can try running the CC Cleaner Tool to ensure that no corrupt licensing files may be preventing the installation process.  You can find details of the use of the CC Cleaner Tool at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.

    iTunes won't let me purchase any apps because this error keeps appearing.

    I was trying to purchase an app when iTunes notified me that the debit card that I was using was about to expire so I made changes about the expiry date and such, but to no avail, it keeps on nagging me.
    The debit card that I am using is my dad's and he is currently in the US, I was assuming I only have to change my billing info into his current address. It still doesn't work. I also tried changing my region from the Philippines to the US but none of it work.
    My last purchase was on the 30th of June and I think a few days prior to that was when iTunes Philippines was established. I don't know if this is a relevant information but I will appreciate any help.
    I'm at wits' end. I badly needed to buy this app!

    This may seem a little late but I finally made it work!
    I changed my region from the Philippines to the United States then iTunes prompted me to 'create' an Apple ID so I did and entered my information in the required fields. Hopefully now, everything is beautiful and nothing hurt.

    Oh thank god i am not the only one with this problem. It started with me on Saturday (aug 28) and still, no solution.
    I live in the border with the USA so i’ve been using my itunes account with a USA debit card and then it started with that **** declined CC problem =S

    I have just downloaded the trial version of the new aperture software but when I try to enter the serial number (Copy and pasted from the email) it says the serial number is not valid.
    Any ideas? I do not have any previous versions on my macbook as I only recently became a mac user.
    I have been sent the same serial number to 2 seperate email addresses so is there another way of getting a different number?

    BUT the apple Website still downloads 1.5.6, which is a free update.
    I have the right serial trial number beginning with an "E" et not a "D", but
    obviously 1.5.6 does not request it.
    We'll have to wait Apple doing its homework : in fact, the right procedure is :
    1/ request the serial number
    2/ download Ap. 2 from the hyperlink in the mail AND NOT from the Aperture website page.

    I've spent several hours researching this issue, I've clear the registry, I've used the tool fix it program and nothing works. This all started after my computer stop functioning properly and I did a refresh, I've been able to reinstall all the programs

    I really hope someone can help me as I am tearing my hair out trying to get this resolved!
    I am working on a Server 2012 R2 server with RDS running. Before it was turned into a RDS server it had a copy of Office 2010 running as a trial to see would it work for the accounting package that is running for users via Remote Desktop. Trial worked ok
    so it was converted into a RDS server. Now, as its a RDS it needs to run Office under a volume licence, which I have. However when trying to install I get the message: "Error 25004: the product key you entered cannot be used on this machine. this is most
    likely due to previous Office 2013 trials being installed on the system."
    In summary I have tried everything I can think of and find to remove all traces of the old Office from the machine but still this message persists. I have run the Fix It For Me uninstall from MS and it cannot find any Office installed. i have manually searched
    through all of the Windows directories including Program Files and AppData and removed all traces of Office from there, I have searched the registry and removed all I can find from there.
    Where or what file does the installer look at to see that a previous version was installed? 
    I cannot scrub this machine which I would have done long ago because there is another SQL Server based application running on it.
    Really really appreciate anyone that can help me on this,
