Error while running Business Rules and Calc scripts

We are trying to run calc script in a report and we received the error saying that " An error occured while running the specified cacl script.Check the log for details", we received the similar error when working with Business rules.
This started when we tried to point JVMMODULELOCATION in essbase.cfg to null from its existing link to a java path.
This error persists even after we changed the config file to its original one.

major difference is the runtime prompt in HBR , which differentiates Calc script.
however I recently learned that you can put run time prompts in calc scripts lusing VBA macros.

Have you validated the formulas/logic for "Seats shred" and "Unbillable_hours_per_month"?
There are clear hints in the log you provided

Error while migrating business rules

While trying to use the export/import option in EAS to migrate business rules, we have run into an error.
The export itself is fine. When trying to import, it says this:(even though it lets me select the proper xml file for importing)
Error while migrating business rules.
Detail: The import file specified is not a valid business rules xml file. Import will be terminated.
Detail:Exception occured. Please check your log file for details.
I am pretty sure I used the inherent format specified for exporting the business rules.
Both the old and new systems are version 11.1.2.
The LCM method also failed for the business rules migration.
Any suggetions?

When you export them make sure you don't have "For Calc Mgr" checked, if you do then the import with fail.

Are you able to validate the rule in EAS (or Calc Manager)?
Normally nativeGetNewTLA Rule is followed by out of memory errors like java.lang.OutOfMemoryError,
Increase the heap size to 1024, re start Planning and try validating it again.

Business Rules and Calc Manager

Can anyone help with these questions:
1) Are you supposed to be able to run business rules from/via Smart View?
2) Since HBR is being decomm'd in 1.2.2 and Calc Manager fully replaces it, are you supposed to be able to run Calc Mgr calcs from/via Smart View
3) Can you create Run Time Prompts in Calc Manager for an Essbase (not Planning) connection only? Since you can in HBR surely you can in Calc Mgr? It was greyed out in my test.

Hi Steve,
To date Smart View only runs rules against Essbase when using Hyperion Planning. Using rules in conjunction with forms is one of the value propositions of Hyperion Planning.
The guide is pretty clear the RTP's are for Planning only.
Suggest you take a read through the Calculation Manager admin guide available at: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/cmgr_admin.pdf

Error while integrating Business rules (decision service) in BPEL

hi'
from some time I am struggling to integrate Business Rules with BPEL, I was successfully able to integrate it also.
however now once again the same error has started coming.
If it try to deploy the BPEL process it will give built failed but the BPEL process will come in the BPEL console
and after passing the parameter it will give unable to find the decision service WSDL file.
please advice what is the issue some time it works perfectly some time it shows error while deploying.

Error while saving Business Rule EAS Java

Hi there all, I get the following errror when saving a business rule that actually was working fine just yesterday. Something tells me it's about network issues but i'll appreciate if anyone got the same and how to solve this. Thanks.

This error is occurring in our development environment as well. Production is fine.
I had the users get out of the system last night and I tried restarting services and eventually restarting each server but nothing has cleared the error yet.

Error while executing business rule "Please increase CalcLockBlock setting"

Hello,
An error is occouring when I execute a particular business rule. The following message appears when I view the error from Job Console:
"Dynamic calc processor cannot allocate more than [100] blocks from the heap. Please increase CalcLockBlock setting and then retry"
No such error is occouring when I execute any other business rule.
Can anyone please tell me how to resolve it?

Hi Sa'ad,
in the business rule your getting the error message is a calculation, where the result needs more than 100 blocks to access to.
The error comes from three possible causes:
1. Lockblock setting is low (essbase.cfg)
2. Your data cache setting is to small
3. Block size is to large
I think you have to increase data cache settings (by default 8192 KB) to.

Error while validating Business rules in EAS

Hi,
Iam new to hyperion. I created business rule in EAS (using a user with businessrule admin role). when i tried to validate the same, it gives an error message like *"Unable to validate or run this business rule. Detail:Exception occurred. Please check your log file for details"*. So wats the actual problem.

Sounds like you have not added security to the rule. Before you assign security you must set the Location in the Location tab, this is the db you want to run the BR on (you can also use 'Allow all Locations')
Then you must goto security tab and assign users / groups to the BR, once you have done this the BR should validate and run.

Hi,
Well business rules are really just calc scripts with a few additional features.
So to understand business rules a good place to start is looking at calc script functions and commands, the essbase technical reference includes details on all this :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_esb_techref/techref.htm
If you get stuck on calc scripts then the essbase forum is also a good place to ask for advice as there are many experts on there.
I have not seen many sources for information relating to just business rules.

Some critical errors in Planning, Business Rules and FR

Dear All,
I am facing some critical errors in Hyperion Plannign 11.1.1.3. We did the migration of BR rules from one server to another server. Migration went well. When i running any one of the rule, it throws the below errors:
If i run any one of the FR reports from workspace, it throwing the same errors
*Detail:Cannot calculate. Essbase Error(1023040): msg from remote site [[Wed Dec 16 15:58:32 2009]Local////Error(1042003) Network Error [11004]: Unable To Locate [hypplan] In Hosts File]*
hypplan - Source server name(i took the BR rules backup in XML format)
Please guide me in this situation.

Account dimension creating problem for Business rules.
I have Rollup BR here
