Error while starting managed servers in a cluster

Hi,
          I have Weblogic 8.1.3 deployed on my system. We've have a Ant script that set's up the project domain etc. We have an admin server and two other managed servers which are part of a cluster. I am able to start the admin server and access the admin console without any errors. However when I start any of the managed servers in the cluster, using the following command (startManagedWebLogic.cmd Reactor-1 http://localhost:80 OR startManagedWebLogic.cmd Reactor-2 http://localhost:80)
          I get the error listed below. The same Ant script was used to setup the project on another system and it worked but I haven't been able to set it up on my system.
          The error says that it could be due to servers having duplicate names in the cluster but thats not the case here, the managed servers are named Reactor-1 and 2.
          Also, the IP address being accessed, 192.168.141.50:81 is not my system, its another system on the network. I've done a full text search for the IP address but I've not been able to find it in ANY file under c:\bea.
          Can someone please tell me if I've missed something? I'd appreciated any help with this.
          Thanks
          Ameeth

make sure you use a unique cluster multicast ip address. are you sure that your etc/hosts file has proper entries for localhost?

    Hi,
    The standby database has been activated previously but since then reverted back into its standby role. Prior to the
    RMAN duplicate operation the "alter system reset control_files scope=spfile sid='*';" has not been executed (i.e. the
    control files have not been overwritten).
    check the incarnation on both the sides i.e primary & standby
    list incarnation of database;
    RMAN> reset database to incarnation 2;
    database reset to incarnation 2
    RMAN> exit
    hope you can solve by restting the incarnation.
    Thanks

    hi kartheek,
    i think u just missed some of steps while starting managed server using nodemanager in WLST.
    If u dont mind i'm sending some of steps just check it out. Once u try the same steps.
    1.start the ADMIN SERVER
    2.start the WLST
    java weblogic.WLST
    3.Connect to AdminServer
    connect('username',password','t3://adminhost:listenport')
    example: connect('weblogic','weblogic','t3://localhost:7001')
    4.start the nodemanager in WLST
    startNodeManager()
    5.connect to nodemanager
    nmConnect('username','password','nodemanagerhost',
    'nodemanagerlistenport','domainname','path to domain')
    example: nmConnect('weblogic','weblogic','localhost','5556','base_domain'
    'C:/bea/user_projects/domains/base_domain')
    6.start the managed server in WLST
    start('managedservername','Type','t3://managedhost:listenport')
    example:start('man1','Server','t3://localhost:7003')
    7.If u want to start cluster in WLST
    start('clustername','Type')
    example: start('cluster1','Cluster')
    If u want to start managed in Cluster u follow STEP-6 only
    regards
    abhi

    It looks like a bug. We are on 7.0sp4 with sp5 soon to be released. I
    suggest you try a more up-to-date version.

    Hi,
    I get the following error while starting the managed server. But there is no
    fatal error and the startup is successful. The domain has an admin and a managed
    instance. The admin server starts without any trouble. Please help resolve this
    problem.
    regards
    vignesh

    You probably changed your system password in the console?
    Look for your boot.properties file in the following location:
    [domain]\servers\[server]\security
    change the following line:
    password={3DES}Ytm72Oh4zE0bsptrYn13Xw==
    to:
    password=mynewpassword
    WebLogic Server will encrypt the password on the next boot, and your problem should be resolved.

    This statement should be prominently displayed in this and all similar forums, but the best advice I can give anyone here is that if you're struggling with a problem for several DAYS, not to mention weeks, and the only resource you've used is this forum, you should file a support request with Oracle right now. That is one of the most important skills you will need to use WebLogic effectively.

    it is still trying to connect to localhost:7011. It should try to connect to
              IP address of machine on which admin server is running.
              when you start nodemanager
              -Dweblogic.nodemanager.listenAddress=IP (address of box b ) should be given
              have you edited nodemanager.hosts file on machine B ( file is under config )
              to include IP address of Box A
              make sure remote tab entries are blank for Managed Server.

  • Clustering newbie error while starting managed server

              I'm getting an authorization exception while starting a managed server (see attached
              trace). I'm running WLS 6.1 on three Redhat Linux servers. I've configured an
              admin server on Machine1, which starts fine. When I attempt to start the first
              managed server on M2 (an identical installation: same default values used on both
              machines), and supplying the admin server machine's IP and listen port, I get
              an error message which includes the line:
              The reported error was: < null > This condition generally results when the managed
              and admin servers are using the same listen address and port.
              While the port is the same (which I understand they must be), the listen addresses
              are definitely different. Any suggestions?
              Thanks,
              [trace.txt]

              Thanks for the ideas, Mark. As it turned out, I discovered while reading the security
              newsgroup that WLS 6.1 "has issues with" Java 1.4.0, which I happened to be running
              the managed server under. After regressing to 1.3.1, it seems to work. Funny
              how I could have missed that....:-)

    Debesh.

    The default open file limit in Linux is 1024 while WebCenter installer requires the open file limit to be 4096 or more.
    To change the open file limits, login as root and edit the /etc/security/limits.conf file. Look for the following two lines:
    * soft nofile 2048
    * hard nofile 2048
    If these lines do not exist, add them.
    Change the values from 2048 to 4096 or higher, then reboot the machine.

    Can any body help me in this issue

    I could see calling to setDomainEnv.cmd script:
    *@REM Call setDomainEnv here.*
    set DOMAIN_HOME=D:\Perforce\weblogic1\dev\src_crmod\wls\mytest
    for %%i in ("%DOMAIN_HOME%") do set DOMAIN_HOME=%%~fsi
    call "%DOMAIN_HOME%\bin\setDomainEnv.cmd" %*
    set SAVE_JAVA_OPTIONS=%JAVA_OPTIONS%
    set SAVE_CLASSPATH=%CLASSPATH%
    But in my environment I do not see these variable set to any, JAVA_HOME, DERBY_CLASSPATH, JAVA_OPTIONS, CLASS_PATH.
    This might be the issue? Or anything else?
