Error while updating Apple IPhone 3GS
I tried to update my IPhone 3GS using Itunes version 11.0.4 for Windows but at the end it displays the message Your phone could not be activated as the server is temporarily unavailable..Please suggest what can i do in this situation.
This action is usually indicative of either a security software issue with accessing the gs.apple.com server, or the phone has been jailbroken or the computer used to jailbreak a phone in the past. Do any of these scenairos apply to you?

If your phone was EVER hacked to unlock it, when you updated the hack was removed and it's now re-locked to its original carrier and will work only with a SIM card from that carrier..

Weird Error while Updating my iPhone :'((
So tonight i connected my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook and went to update it to the new software. this turned out with my MacBook repeatedly saying that there was an error and to reconnect my iPhone. i kept doing this everytime it said this. then when it finally was able to restart my iPhone after updating it disconnected again from my MacBook then it said i had to Restore my iPhone to the original manufacturer settings so i started doing that well while it was doing that it disconnected again and now my iPhone is not being recognized by my MacBook and i have used 3 different USB cables and im pretty sure my iPhone is now frozen. idk what to do now except wait until morning and show my dad.
any suggestions?I can't help with a software solution, but I can tell you that my daughters iPhone 4, had to go to the Apple Store in Exeter (UK) where she saw a 'nice', multi-tasking, Genius called David, who after finding it could not update on their Macs, put it down to a hardware fault in the USB connection on the iPhone.
Once that was discovered, she was handed a new replacement without any quibble.
This is a big issue to us who had the problem, (all the family iPhones updated perfectly except for hers..) so you are just going to be one of the unlucky few, versus the 100m who didn't - and Apple will see you right... -
Error after update my iphone 3gs
Hi im from Argentina. I read a lot of question about the iphone activation problem, but i didnt read the answer i was looking for.
I bought my iphone 3gs in a company here in Argentina. It would be like at & tAmerican. I update to version io5 and could not activate the cellphone. I'm using the sim that I got from them.
The problem is that the company has very incompetent people, and here in Argentina there is no support from Apple.
I have a contract with them saying that I can update without any problem.
To restore it, i push the power button and the home at the same time until it was shut down and then when the apple appeared remove the switch of power. Of course it was plug to itunes. The system restores, but it continue saying "insert a sim card".
This was the correct way to restore it? What else can i do?
Please im asking because here in Argentina they dont care, i m with this problem since 13 of november.Someone please help me.

Apple iPhone 3GS 8GB Blank Screen While Updating to IOS4.3.3
Hi have iPhone 3GS 8GB. This phone I got as replacement from Apple for my Previous iPhone which got stuck in recovery. This replacement phone was working on IOS 4.2.1.
A few days back Apple has released IOS 4.3.3 and while updating my iPhone via iTunes, there was some error message.
I tried it again and different different errors keep on coming. Now my Phone is totally blank. When I plug the Phone in Computer I can listen to USB Plugin sound coming from computer but nothing is coming on screen. It seems iPhone is stuck in DFU Mode.
Also when I plug the phone in computer iTunes POPs up and says phone is in recovery mode and when I restore the phone error 1600 keeps on coming.
I am 100% sure there is some software issues with the phone as computer responds when I plug in and Plug out the phone (USB Sound). Can any wise person on this Group help me out with the same.

Anshumanare you able to see the apps on the home screen? If so, it's most likely an issue with your carrier

Itunes was updating my phone from 6.01 to 6.1 and it came up with an error. I closed the error not thinking about it and now my phone is locked up on the apple screen with the progress bar on it.

Seems that way. I think I am going to have to give in and spend hours on the phone with Apple support. I don't want to, but I am at a loss. I will share any discoveries...

i updated my iphone 3gs to iphone 6 . while installing the software it gets error and closed. then i restored my previous version. when i turned on the phone it gets usb and itunes symbol on screen. when i run itunes error is coming like server contact problem. what can i do to start my phone???? plz help me

i was updating my iphone 3gs , but error occured while itunes was updating firmware. it asked me to revert back to backup. it is in recovery mode. now when i am restoring , again eroor is there while updating firmware part . (1015) . please help what to do . or manually download a update

The screen you're seeing on your iPhone indicates it is in recovery mode. Now since the device is not appearing in iTunes on your PC, first follow the steps in this article:

After following those steps, you should be able to restore your iPhone.

I am getting error (-1) while updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.1. The phone has gone into a recovery mode. Restore fails every time at "restoring the firmware" stage. Striped bar remains for a long time, then shows "error (-1)" and the restore fails. I have been doing it for last 12 hours. Help!
Thanks for your reply Michalo. I am in India and here Apple care does not work on Sundays. I have been without my phone for the entire day. Perhaps tomorrow will bring some respite. There is not solution to "error (-1)" on any forum it seems. I found one forum which suggested use of Tiny Umbrella. Any idea about that?
