Error with acrobat in workspace

We have deployed Workspace ES2.  Our new desktops have acrobat 9 installed, but not Reader.  Workspace has operated without any issues for over 2 months for our limited number of users.  Yesterday, I opened a PDF form outside of workbench inside acrobat.  I then edited the form and it launched designer for me to view the edit layout of the form.  I did not change the form.  I then closed the form and exited Acrobat.  That form remained on my desktop and was NOT imported into workbench or any application in LiveCycle.  I then logged into workspace to open a completely different form and I see a new error message that I have never encountered before: "Warning.  You must install Adobe Reader to view this form.  Would you like to install it now?"  I select "no" and I cannot view the form.  Our end users will not be able to install reader separately, everyone has acrobat.
All other identical machines can view workspace and forms just fine.  I opened a ticket with Enterprise Support and they are asking me to reinstall Acrobat to fix the issue.  I am not convinced this is the issue, although it could be.  I can correctly open PDFs from my filesystem as well as from a web page.  It opens acrobat just fine.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Hi,
I finally found a solution to this problem and I can now access pdf forms in LiveCycle Workspace - YES
I followed this guide to an solution:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/391736?start=200&tstart=0  =topic 205!
I found out that my registry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe"  was 2734 KB!! on my normal user that got the error in Workspace.
I have an admin user and when I exported the same registry key it was only 75 Kb. My admin user did not have the error in workspace.
The registry "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe" for my normal user account was holding all kind of outdated settings from my 9 years in the company. I deleted all keys for products and versions no longer installed/used.
*Remember backup before you start deleting*
I then saved and restarted the PC. I logged in to my normal user account. I then open workspace and was able to open a pdf form
I hope this solution can help a lot of people outthere. I spend almost a full day to find a solution so happy to share

  • Text/html processing error with Acrobat Reader when sending to database

    Hi everyone,
I have a problem that occurs in certain versions of the Acrobat Reader, with Acrobat Professional the error message does not pop up.
In Acrobat Reader however, when sending the form to a php file to fill a database an error pops up
"Content type text/html couldn´t be processed"
Nevertheless it works fine, except the fact that the confirmation "successfully sent" that should pop up (and does in Acrobat Professional)  does not appear due to this processing error. What can I do?
    Thanks for supporting!

    Hi,
I'll only attempt the first part:
See this discussion where event.target.path.toString().substring(0, 4); was used to get the first four letters of the path. If that equalled "http", then the form was opened in a browser.

I can't contribute on the other issues.

  • Thousands of errors with acrobat pdf ocr conversion to Word 2013

I am trying to convert an imaged pdf to word 2013 for text editing and spell check purposes. Acrobat Xl pro conversion can render a perfect copy in Word without OCR but, of course the text is uneditable and unreadable by Word's spell checker, but with OCR switched on during the conversion, thousands of errors are introduced which defeats my whole purpose in converting, which is to proof the document via word.  Is there any way to improve the Character recognition with acrobat or is it hopeless?  Thanks

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.  I've also read that installing manual updates might help but when I tried that I got an error to the effect that I didn't have that program installed.  I'm pretty sure I did that correctly but maybe not.   Anyway, is anyone familiar with this and can tell me what I can do to fix it?
    Thank you.

What happened was I did the initial install using my CD and set Acrobat to not download or install updates since I was going to try and do that manually.   I tried to do it manually, but when I went to install the update got a message that the proper program did not exist or something like that.   I thought maybe I tried to jump too far too fast - i.e., from my disk which I believe is 9.0 to 9.5.4 from Adobe's website.  So I was going to come back when I had more time and do more incremental upgrades.
Later that day there was an Adobe Updater icon in my task bar and I thought it was for another program and clicked on it.  It updated Acrobat to 9.5.4. Both when the original 9.0 was installed and when the update occurred, I got the SideBySide errors.
I'm fine with uninstalling it and trying again, but I'm not really sure what's the best approach at this point.  I'm wondering if anyone else has had any success it installing it and not getting the SideBySide errors.
    Thanks.

  • Pictwpstops error with acrobat  reader

I recently downloaded Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 so I could enter information in a smart PDF file and print. But when I tried to print, I got an error message: pictwpstops - got an error disposing of document. I tried repairing permissions, then I downloaded the latest printer driver (I'm using an HP Deskjet 842c), deleted the old printer in Printer Setup, and reinstalled it with the new driver, but those didn't solve the problem. Any suggestions?
dual usb ibook   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

I'm having the same problem, but I get one of two errors: either "pictwpstops" or "pstopdffilter." I have an HP deskjet connected directly via USB to my ibook.
I've turned my printer off, I've reset my printer, I've use CUPS to reset, I've deleted the com.adobe preferences. I also read somewhere that you can try adding a second version of your printer, and THEN deleting the original but that's not working. I'm not sure what else to do.

I'm trying to use orarrp 1.3.4 with adobe acrobat reader 6 to have a report generated in pdf format and sent to the local default printer for the user. The report generates successfully, downloads to the browser with mimetype application/x-orarrp-pdf, starts the acrord32 process, but then give the following error message:

Any suggestions on what would cause the error? Is this a compatibility issue between orarrp and the latest reader, or some security setting I need to check in Internet Explorer

    hello,
there are known compatibiity issues caused by acrobat 6. we are currently trying to resolve those and a new version of ORRP will be available in the next couple of weeks.

  • Errors on saved form when designed with Acrobat 9 Pro

I have created a file with Acrobat 9 Pro with fields, check boxes, etc.... for customers to fill in, save, and e-mail/print .
I finally managed to get the form to be saved by any Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 (or above). But when they open their saved , filled-in form, the contents have changed! The boxes they have ticked are no longer ticked, but others are instead...

LiveCycle Designer is no longer distributed as part of the Acrobat release. I think it is available as a separate product. At this point, Acrobat provides the AcroForm type tools (kind of hard to get to, just as in some previous versions) and the option for Forms Central. The whole focus has changed. I suspect that others may be in the same situation of trying to get their forms to interact in Acrobat or Forms Central, but at this point I do not think there is any way to back Designer forms into either of the two current formats. Not much help, but a comment in any case.

  • Error: adobe acrobat elements has encountered a problem and needs to close

When I right-click to Convert to PDF or Convert to PDF and EMail for .xls, .xlsx, .doc, .docx, .pptx, .ppt, .pub, and .igx items (what I've tried so far), I get the following error: "Adobe acrobat elements has encountered a problem and needs to close".  It works fine on .bmp .tif, .txt, .htm, and .jpg (what I've tried so far).  I am not having problems printing to Adobe to convert, nor am I having problems creating a PDF within a program, and I'm not having problems converting from IE.  I am using Windows XP Professional, Microsoft 2007, and IE 7.  My Adobe product is Adobe Acrobat X Pro Version 10.1.2.  What can I do to resolve this problem?  Thanks.

No, I don't have an older version.  I did a search on my C drive for anything that has a name of Acrobat Elements and came up with the following: (I'm hoping you can see this)

  • Could not find application that created this file error in Acrobat

What is going on? I have an InDesign file that I want to convert by opening Acrobat and then converting to PDF. I am getting the error "Could not find application that created this file. [file name] Please select a file created by an application that resides on your computer."
I most often use this functionality when I have multiple files of different origins and need to combine them into one document. Now I'm reading the forums and some are saying this functionality is no longer supported by Acrobat. Pardon my language, but WTF?!?! This is functionality that is commonly used by me and I can only assume other users. Now you have two Adobe products that won't communicate? If so, then all the hoopla stating how great the Adobe suite is should be edited. I have never seen these products take such a step backward!
Sorry for the rant, but I find this to be ridiculous. What is the workaround, besides converting every document to PDF inside its own software and then combing the PDFs?

InDesign uses a different method of making PDF files when you use the File->Export option in InDesign (even with Acrobat installed, it uses an internal copy of the PDF Library engine). As such, the two applications do not communicate directly with each other.
Support for driving the PDF conversion process from within Acrobat has been removed from Acrobat X, beacuse with the new features in InDesign CS4+, Acrobat doesn't have access to the settings it needs to control things such as multimedia, spreads and transitions. ID CS5 divides PDFs into two concepts - "print" and "interactive", neither of which match the presets used by Distiller. Creating PDFs from InDesign files must therefore take place from within InDesign itself.

  • Opening pdfs with acrobat 8 no longer working

Has anyone else experienced this new issue with launching
Acrobat 8 on Windows machines from a Director-made program? I've
been using this BuddyApi script for years without incident. Now my
clients who've upgraded (sometimes unknowingly) to Acrobat 8
recently, cannot see the pdfs anymore. Acrobat simply does not open
(launch). There are no errors. Acrobat 8 on the Mac side does
continue to work properly however. This has the potential to be a
huge issue with my past and future programming. Has anyone come
across a fix or new script yet? I checked Acrobat FAQs and BuddyApi
FAQs as well as Google searches but to no avail. Any help is
    appreciated.

OK, just looked at the above thread. So, does appear to be an
    Arobat issue. Though
not sure why it happens on some computers and not on others.
