Error with Recovery Disc Creater, Satellite U205-S5022

When I try to create the recovery disc, I get "an unexpected error 0F00FE-F1-00000002"

Try a different brand of DVD and see if that helps.

  • Can not create recovery discs on satellite C875D-S7330

Can not create recovery discs on satellite C875D-S7330. Drive runs and appears to be doing it thing, then aborts saying it has error to check disc for scratch or dust on media. Error code: OEO1B5-26-2AO3OC 00 . Tried 3 new discs all same results. Tried a 4th disc trying to continue on with disc 2 of recovery discs, got another error on this one. Error code: 020150-20-00000000.
Anyone have a fix for this? Had this machine less than 24hrs.
    Thanks
    Don B.

Personally, I would get a 16gig USB thumb drive and put your recovery on it.  It eliminates having to swap disks during recovery and it's easy to store.  I've used mine several times and it's worked perfectly every time.

  • Hard drive replacement with recovery disc problems - Windows Troubleshooter Error 0x8E5E0247

    I have a 2009 Satellite A505 laptop
64-bit Operating System with Windows 7 Home Premium, 4 gigs of RAM, and Intel Duo CPU, 2.20GHz
The original Toshiba 500 GB Hard drive finally gave up the ghost and I replaced it yesterday with a WD Scorpio Blue HD Model WDBABC500ANC-NRSN (SATA 8 MB :Mo Cache 5400 RPM)
Easy, straight forward replacement.  No problems.
I got out my Recovery Discs which I created using the Toshiba recovery disc utility back in 2009. As I remember, at the time, the process of creating these discs was easy, and it was the first thing I did after registering my computer.
The process created 5 discs, which the last, number 5, is the Applications and Drivers.  I have done this process before on other computers (Gateway and Toshiba) and it is usually pretty straight forward and problem free.
Not so this time, and have to wonder about the Toshiba Recovery Discs that were created!  Why aren't these working correctly?
I followed the normal process to boot the new Hard Disc on the DVD Recovery Disc 1, and everything seemed to work normally.  I followed every "next" prompt, and installed each new Disc 2, and 3 as prompted.
After Disc 3, it said it was finished, and then went throught the Toshiba unpacking and the Windows installation process with multiple re-starts and Window start ups.  Again, everything seemed normal, except I wondered why I never received a prompt for Dsc 4 which was unused in the recovery process.  Is that normal?
During the Toshiba automatic unpacking and installation process, where various drivers were being installed, Windows errors began returning that said something like this, "Windows requires a digitally Signed driver, and the driver is unavailalbe and could not be activated in Windows 7 . Programs relying on them may not work. "
The problem drivers included the Realtek RTL8191 SE Wireless Lan 802.11n PCWE, the Richo pcle memory stick, Realtek High Definition Audio, Video Controller, Richo PCLe SD/MMC Host Conroller. and a few others....
I did not touch the keybroad or intervere in anyway, and let the installation process proceed until everything was installed.  I then went through the first Windows start up process where you set the region, time and create the USER ID, set the adminstrator rights and even got the Toshiba Registration prompt.
When finished, I noticed that the sound was not working, nor was the Wireless Network Connection, and when I attempted the usual Windows network Trouble Shooting process, it returned a Windows Error which said "A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting"
I then viewed the error details.  They said...
    Package ID:  Unknown
    Path:           C:\windows\diagnostics\system\networking
    Error Code:  0x8E5E0247
    USER:          mvh-PC\mvh
    Context:      Restricted
I then went to MS Windows 7 Troubleshooting forum on the internet using another computer.
I followed all the 'cmd' processes for "supposedly" solving these problems by running System File Checker [SFC] scan on the computer which was supposed to replace the missing or corrupt files.
Well, no joy.  The issue presists.
After some problems accessing the CBS log, I was able to view it, and it provides no useful information as to why the errors where unable to be corrected.
I tried following everything on this MS How to Use File Checker document:
In my CBS file I got a lot of SQM  "Failed to start" and "Failed to read" and "Failed to upload" and CSI "Repair results created"....
but did not get any "Cannot repair member file" type of messages to use the 'cmd'
    takeown /f Path_And_File_Name function
I then started over.  Rebooted the computer again, starting with Recovery Disc 1 and several hours later was back to the same problem.  Geeze
I have checked all the various Device drivers that are shown as not working in the Device Manager.  I have tried uninstalling them all, and then re-installing them both automatically during Windows 7 start up, and also from the Recovery Disc 5 which had the original drivers.  Nothing works.
When I clicked on "Connect to the Internet" on the Windows Control Panel, I am returned a prompt that says "Windows did not detect any networking hardware" and so,even with a direct Ethernet connection to my cable modum, I was unable to download any Windows updates or new drivers to see if that fixes anything.
    I am stumped.
Any suggestions out there?  I don't want to waste a lot of money paying for more technical help for an aging laptob.  If this is beyond a simple fix, then I think I will just go and buy a new cheap computer from Asus having wasted the ~$70 bucks for the hard drive for this one.
It shouldn't be this hard, should it?
I have considered buying new recovery discs directlly from Toshiba, but if the process that came with the computer can't create correct discs that work the first time, what promise do I have that another $29.95 won't just be a waste of money too?
Thanks for any helpful hints about what I may be missing or overlooking.
    Regards

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Jerry...
I think we can close this one out as 95% solved.  I did get the Intel (R) Rapid Storage Technology loaded after installing the Intel (R) Chipset Software Installation Utility.   The instrustions were not the simpliest for the novice, and it took me a while to figure out if my system was running in RAID or ACHI mode.  I decided that it was ACHI, so could proceed, even though I did NOT find this information in the Device Manager where they said I should have...
Also, it was a little confusing on the Intel site which file to download.  I first did the zip file, (f6flpy-x64.zip) but could not figure how to execute it or put it on a disc, so downloaded the (iata_enu.exe) and hope it was the right one for a 64 bit system.
Anyway, I am now connected via Ethernet cable to my modem, and down loading 126 Windows Updates which should take a while.
My only other issue, that I am aware of is that I do not seem to have any Wireless Lan software, and even though I have added Lan drivers via the recovery Disc, they do not show up anywhere.. Will have to figure out what is going on here, and why it isn't working...
Maybe it is related to something in the Device Manager called
"Other Devices"  Under that I have 4 items not working.  They are listed like this...
           Base System Drive,
           Base System Drive (a duplicate?)
           Network Controller
           Video Controller.
I have tried uninstalling them, and allowing Windows to reinstall, but they still are not activated.  Not sure what this is for, and how to update it, but will search some more on another forum thread for these issues.  Maybe I will try again after all my Windows updates are done and see what happens.
Thanks again for your help.  If you have any other insights on the Wireless issue, that would be great.  It is turned on, but in the Windows tray, I only get the Ethenet Icon option, and it does not see or present wireless connection options like before.  I am sure this is something simple.
    cheers

  • My recovery disc created was lost, how do i get new one??

my recovery disc created was lost, how do i get new one??

    Hi:
I doubt you can get the disks from HP anymore.
You can call them and ask because getting a recovery disk set from HP will cost you less than $20.00, most likely.
In the event I am right about HP no longer having them, you can get a recovery disk set from this place below if the license on your PC is for Windows XP Professional.

  • Satellite U400 Impossible to create recovery DVD with Recovery disc creator

    Hi,
I have a Satellite U400 (few years old), and I never created the recovery DVD.
Now I want to do it, but for some reasons, when I launch Toshiba recovery disc creator, nothing happens...
The partition with the recovery files is there, as well as the folder HDDRecovery. I did add some files to this partition, could this be the problem ?
    Thanks for your help.

It is big problem now if the Toshiba tool cannot find the files.
How it works you can read on http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=140985
    Check it out please.
What you can try now is to check if HDD recovery installation will start - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R01.htm but Im afraid the same problem will occurs again.
To be honest you should install Win7 32bit on this small Satellite notebook. It works perfectly. Forget original Vista OS, Win7 works better.

  • Creating Win 7 64bit Recovery Disc for Satellite L500-19x?

    My new Satellite L500 - 19X came pre-installed with Win 7 - 64 bit version.
Also included was a "Product Recovery Win 7 32 bit" disc
Within the packaging was a leaflet saying:
"If you plan to use the 64-bit version at a later stage, please create a _recovery medium_ prior to installing 32-bit Windows 7"
It then cautions me to create a "64 bit recovery medium.....ordering a 64-bit recovery medium is not free of charge"
The manual goes on at length about "_System Recovery Options_" As instructed in the manual I have made a "Repair Disc Windows 7 64-bit" Am I correct in saying that I do not or cannot have an actual Win 7 64-bit disc?
The leaflet says "a backup copy (of the Win 7 64-bit) is stored on the hard disk drive as a _recovery image_" So is this the actual Win 7-64-bit complete disc that I am after, and if so how do I get it?
The Toshiba documentation is not clear, and I believe rather contradicts itself?
I am confused! Anyone understand what's going on?
    JohnF.

My confusion is because I don't understand what "recovery disc" means?!
On the "Dear Customer" flyer entitled "+Choosing your Windows 7 Architecture+" that came with the machine it states:-
"+A backup copy of the system (64 bit version) is stored on the hard disk drive as a recovery image+" This is what I don't understand, as I have already made a "+repair disc Win 7 64-bi+t" as well as having the "+Product recovery Win 7 - 32-bit" cd+" This cd seems to be the complete Windows disc, unless I am mistaken.
I guess what I am getting at is do I have complete Win 7 - 64-bit in case of total failure of the machine ? (I am asking the question because you often used to get a full Windows disc with a new computer in the old days)
Does this make it any clearer? Thanks for everyone's help

  • Cannot use created recovery discs for Satellite A350-134

Emm I really hope you can help me.
The Notebook said that you have to create the Recovery Disk by yourself and thats what I did ( on 2 Cds)
So i wanted to reinstall my Notebook and put in the first cd and booted from CD. So i came into the Menu.
Then after a while it asked me to put in the second CD and I did it. Then it said there was a error copying the last 2 files needed.
So now i cant create the Recovery Disk again because I already started the reinstalling. now i have a few questions
What can i do generally ? Because I really dont want to buy for 35 euros a new Recovery Disk :S
I thank everyone who helps me :D

If you want to have factory settings you must install recovery image from recovery disc.
If your discs dont work you must use original Toshiba recovery disc.
My opinion is that you should install Win7 32bit on this machine. I do it on friends A350 and it runs perfectly.

  • Satellite M30X: Trojan horse - total formate with recovery disc?

    Hello,
I had a Trojan on my Satellite M30X. My Antivirus deleted it, but everytime I have been connected to the Internet it appeared anew. Not connected to the Internet it did not give me any problems. As I could not get rid of it, I saved all my data and made a new installation from the recovery disc. As long, as the button for Wireless LAN is switched off, everything works properly, but just a short time, after I have switched it on, I get a blue screen. When I reboot my computer with the WLAN switched on, it produces a bluescreen even before Windows is properly loaded, even during installation. I tried the recovery 3 times, but it is always the same result.
    1. Is it possible, that the Trojan destroyed things of the pre installation?
    2. I can not choose to make a formatation during the recovery process. All data is lost, but I have the impression, that it does not formate the harddrive properly, so that everything is destroyed. Does it just overwrite some stuff?
    3. Is there a way to do a proper formatation and then install Windows totally anew?
It is not a problem of my WLAN card, since internet is no problem in Linux.
    Thank you for your help
    Tody

    Hi!
If you use the Toshiba recovery disk the whole HDD will be formatted so if you have viruses or Trojans on your notebook they will be deleted too.
But what BSOD code are you got? Are you sure that this is the reason of viruses?
Do you have the same issue if you connect a LAN cable to the notebook?
    Bye

  • Repair using Recovery Disc for Satellite A100

Is it possible to do a *Repair* on my Toshiba Satellite A100-049 using the Recovery Disc that came with the laptop
    Regards

    Hi Dr Lamp,
It started about a week ago, when I think I had problems with the Malware /Virus "Fake Alert" where a meesage kept coming up saying I needed to repair or words to the effect. I then lost my desktop and my folders were empty in the start menu, and the screen was black.
I ran McaFee antivirus, Malwarebytes and Super AntiSpyware. I then ran Unhide and rKill. I got the desktop back with a couple of Word documents that would not open but the folders in the start menu where either ok files missing or empty.
I now keep getting redirected when searching but not always, also when I switch the laptop on Photshop opens up as though it is trying to open a file up,there is a message appears Photshop cannot open this kind of document.
The only program I have set to open on start up is McAfee.
I have tried a few system restores with the same result.
After system restore the laptop seems to start up ok, but the next time it is started Photoshop opens again.
I seem to be going round in circles, I really don't want to use the Restore option if at al possible.

    Hi!
You can create the recovery disks with the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. Normally it is preinstalled on the laptop.
If you are not able to burn it, you can order a new disk here:

  • Making Recovery disc for Satellite A300-16I

I recently purchased this laptop and I get this reminder to make a recovery disc, but the link to the program doesn't work.
When I found the recovery disc program in its original folder it still refused to open.
My laptop just 'thinks' for a moment and then pretend nothing has happened.
Does anyone have a solution for me?
Maybe I could download a working version of this program...?

    Hi
From my own experience after a third system restart a recovery reminder appear saying you need to create a Recovery DVD.
You said you found the recovery disc program in the original folder well, as far as I know there is a TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator shortcut on the desktop.
Use this shortcut to star this application.
If this is not possible then you could try to recover the notebook again and then to create the recovery CD.
To start the recovery process you have to press F8 button immediately after system start.
Then choose the option called Repair your Computer and follow the instruction on the screen.
    Bye

We traced the issue to a new data source that was added were we found that along with the the expected jndi name entry in the jdbc xml file, there were two blank entries:
    <jndi-name>weblogic.jdbc.DataSource.EOI</jndi-name>
    <jndi-name></jndi-name>
    <jndi-name></jndi-name>
The data source was deleted, consoles restarted, the data source recreated and the issue occured again. To get by the issue we had to manually remove the blank tags from the xml file.
We created 2 new data sources, and it only happened on the one. The same data source each time. Additionally, this issue did not occur when these changes were made in our lower (development, qa) regions.
The version is the same in all three regions.

Is this a known issue? And if so, is there a way to avoid it, other than to start constantly checking the newly created XML files?
    Thank you

Yes, this is a common issue and documented in Oracle Docs:
WebLogic Server: Getting "weblogic.common.ResourceException: is already bound" exception with JDBC JNDI name (Doc ID 1154250.1)
The only fix is that you need to remove the empty value entries.
