Error with recovery

I have a hp dv6985se laptop. It was hanging up/ freezeing for no reason at all. Whether I was doing something or letting it rest at idle it would freeze. I tried doing doing a recovery from a couple days ago but it failed and came up with an error. So, I tried doing a factory reset from the CD's. It went to disk 3 then failed with an error. I tried running the reset from hard disk and it failed and came with an error. The error # is 0x 400 100 1300000 1002. Now when I try to restart it says missing bootmngr press ctrl alt del. What can I do to get this thing back up and running?

I gave up with hp recovery. It's garbage. I used a vista cd to install the os then used all the drivers on the hp site to get running. Then I had a bunch of windows updates to do. Works good now. Just took a little longer to get there.

  • Non system disk error with recovery disks--New hard drive

    HP Pavillion Model a6632f
Ordered new recovery disks from HP after installing brand new hard drive.  Getting errors trying to boot/install.  Now what?

It sounds like the boot device order is not set correctly. Please try this:
    1. Remove the recovery disk (cd) from the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) if you have it loaded. Make sure the only
peripherals  (cables) you have connected to the tower are the monitor, mouse, keyboard and main power.
    2. Start the computer and immediately strike the F10 key to boot into the BIOS Screen
    3. Once in the BIOS screen, strike the F5 key to reload the BIOS default settings.
    4. A message will pop up asking if you wish to SAVE & EXIT BIOS?
    5. Respond YES and exit.
The computer should attempt to boot up at this point. Go ahead and open the CD/DVD drive tray and insert
the 1 of system recovery disk and close the drive tray. Immediately force power off on the tower by pushing and
holding the power button. Once power goes off, allow appx 10-20 seconds and power the tower back on. If
reloading the default BIOS settings has corrected the system boot device order, the computer should now boot
immediately from the Optical Drive (CD drive) and begin the system recovery.

  • Hard drive replacement with recovery disc problems - Windows Troubleshooter Error 0x8E5E0247

    I have a 2009 Satellite A505 laptop
64-bit Operating System with Windows 7 Home Premium, 4 gigs of RAM, and Intel Duo CPU, 2.20GHz
The original Toshiba 500 GB Hard drive finally gave up the ghost and I replaced it yesterday with a WD Scorpio Blue HD Model WDBABC500ANC-NRSN (SATA 8 MB :Mo Cache 5400 RPM)
Easy, straight forward replacement.  No problems.
I got out my Recovery Discs which I created using the Toshiba recovery disc utility back in 2009. As I remember, at the time, the process of creating these discs was easy, and it was the first thing I did after registering my computer.
The process created 5 discs, which the last, number 5, is the Applications and Drivers.  I have done this process before on other computers (Gateway and Toshiba) and it is usually pretty straight forward and problem free.
Not so this time, and have to wonder about the Toshiba Recovery Discs that were created!  Why aren't these working correctly?
I followed the normal process to boot the new Hard Disc on the DVD Recovery Disc 1, and everything seemed to work normally.  I followed every "next" prompt, and installed each new Disc 2, and 3 as prompted.
After Disc 3, it said it was finished, and then went throught the Toshiba unpacking and the Windows installation process with multiple re-starts and Window start ups.  Again, everything seemed normal, except I wondered why I never received a prompt for Dsc 4 which was unused in the recovery process.  Is that normal?
During the Toshiba automatic unpacking and installation process, where various drivers were being installed, Windows errors began returning that said something like this, "Windows requires a digitally Signed driver, and the driver is unavailalbe and could not be activated in Windows 7 . Programs relying on them may not work. "
The problem drivers included the Realtek RTL8191 SE Wireless Lan 802.11n PCWE, the Richo pcle memory stick, Realtek High Definition Audio, Video Controller, Richo PCLe SD/MMC Host Conroller. and a few others....
I did not touch the keybroad or intervere in anyway, and let the installation process proceed until everything was installed.  I then went through the first Windows start up process where you set the region, time and create the USER ID, set the adminstrator rights and even got the Toshiba Registration prompt.
When finished, I noticed that the sound was not working, nor was the Wireless Network Connection, and when I attempted the usual Windows network Trouble Shooting process, it returned a Windows Error which said "A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting"
I then viewed the error details.  They said...
    Package ID:  Unknown
    Path:           C:\windows\diagnostics\system\networking
    Error Code:  0x8E5E0247
    USER:          mvh-PC\mvh
    Context:      Restricted
I then went to MS Windows 7 Troubleshooting forum on the internet using another computer.
I followed all the 'cmd' processes for "supposedly" solving these problems by running System File Checker [SFC] scan on the computer which was supposed to replace the missing or corrupt files.
Well, no joy.  The issue presists.
After some problems accessing the CBS log, I was able to view it, and it provides no useful information as to why the errors where unable to be corrected.
I tried following everything on this MS How to Use File Checker document:
In my CBS file I got a lot of SQM  "Failed to start" and "Failed to read" and "Failed to upload" and CSI "Repair results created"....
but did not get any "Cannot repair member file" type of messages to use the 'cmd'
    takeown /f Path_And_File_Name function
I then started over.  Rebooted the computer again, starting with Recovery Disc 1 and several hours later was back to the same problem.  Geeze
I have checked all the various Device drivers that are shown as not working in the Device Manager.  I have tried uninstalling them all, and then re-installing them both automatically during Windows 7 start up, and also from the Recovery Disc 5 which had the original drivers.  Nothing works.
When I clicked on "Connect to the Internet" on the Windows Control Panel, I am returned a prompt that says "Windows did not detect any networking hardware" and so,even with a direct Ethernet connection to my cable modum, I was unable to download any Windows updates or new drivers to see if that fixes anything.
    I am stumped.
Any suggestions out there?  I don't want to waste a lot of money paying for more technical help for an aging laptob.  If this is beyond a simple fix, then I think I will just go and buy a new cheap computer from Asus having wasted the ~$70 bucks for the hard drive for this one.
It shouldn't be this hard, should it?
I have considered buying new recovery discs directlly from Toshiba, but if the process that came with the computer can't create correct discs that work the first time, what promise do I have that another $29.95 won't just be a waste of money too?
Thanks for any helpful hints about what I may be missing or overlooking.
    Regards

    Jerry...
I think we can close this one out as 95% solved.  I did get the Intel (R) Rapid Storage Technology loaded after installing the Intel (R) Chipset Software Installation Utility.   The instrustions were not the simpliest for the novice, and it took me a while to figure out if my system was running in RAID or ACHI mode.  I decided that it was ACHI, so could proceed, even though I did NOT find this information in the Device Manager where they said I should have...
Also, it was a little confusing on the Intel site which file to download.  I first did the zip file, (f6flpy-x64.zip) but could not figure how to execute it or put it on a disc, so downloaded the (iata_enu.exe) and hope it was the right one for a 64 bit system.
Anyway, I am now connected via Ethernet cable to my modem, and down loading 126 Windows Updates which should take a while.
My only other issue, that I am aware of is that I do not seem to have any Wireless Lan software, and even though I have added Lan drivers via the recovery Disc, they do not show up anywhere.. Will have to figure out what is going on here, and why it isn't working...
Maybe it is related to something in the Device Manager called
"Other Devices"  Under that I have 4 items not working.  They are listed like this...
           Base System Drive,
           Base System Drive (a duplicate?)
           Network Controller
           Video Controller.
I have tried uninstalling them, and allowing Windows to reinstall, but they still are not activated.  Not sure what this is for, and how to update it, but will search some more on another forum thread for these issues.  Maybe I will try again after all my Windows updates are done and see what happens.
Thanks again for your help.  If you have any other insights on the Wireless issue, that would be great.  It is turned on, but in the Windows tray, I only get the Ethenet Icon option, and it does not see or present wireless connection options like before.  I am sure this is something simple.
    cheers

  • Recovery Order in Error with: AiaResubmissionUtility or EM Console?

I am using AIA 11g and I know that the AiaResubmissionUtility works on the message in the queue and EM Console with the instance committed on the database but I do not know what can be the best practice to recovery the message.
I would like to know if in this version I can perform the recovery of messages thought the AiaResubmissionUtility or with the EM console.

In AIA methodology, the message should always be resubmitted from the start of the milestone i.e. queue/topic/resequencer. Also the message will be rolled back to the start of milestone in case of any error with in the flow between two milestones. You should go with re-submission utility.
    Hope this helps.

i tried updating my iphone 4s to the ios 7 but it said error with the firmware now my phone is stuck in recovery mode and i have no idea how to fix it any suggestions??

Try Restoring it 3 times in a row and see if that works.
If not that error can indicate one of two things: Your iPhone was at one time jailbroken, had the iOS version rolled back, or ran an unauthorized beta and if none of those things are true it is a hardware error.

MY I PHON 16GB TRYED TO TO RESET BUT I AM GETTING ERROR 1015, WITH RECOVERY MODE with itune sign, what should i do??

Not much you can do.  Your phone is most likely permanently "bricked"  Error 1015 occurs when trying to restore a previously jailbroken phone.  This usually leaves the phone in a state where it can not be recovered as you are experiencing.
Discussion of jailbroken phones is prohibited by the Terms of Use of this forum.  You'll have to get help elsewhere.  Ask the lovely people who helped you jailbreak your phone.

  • Tips for blue screen (BSOD) errors with Windows Vista and Intel Turbo Memory on X61/X61s

Important note: The symptoms and solutions described below address only a small subset of the possible causes for blue screen errors, aka BSOD.
This information can help address blue screen errors specifically
related to Turbo Memory, but may not solve errors related to other
issues. Please read through the instructions completely, make sure they
apply to your system, and after attempting the solutions please post
back with your feedback for the community.
Some users may experience random blue screen errors with ThinkPad
systems running Windows Vista with Intel Turbo Memory hardware. These
blue screens may occur during normal usage on the system or they may
occur when booting into Windows Vista. Blue screens related to the
Intel Turbo Memory hardware may reference a stop code of 8086 with
    memory address locations of {0, 0, 0, 0}.
There are two main steps that you can take to help resolve blue screen issues related to Intel Turbo Memory.
Step 1: Update Intel Turbo Memory Driver
If the driver version is before version 1.0.1.1004-7.0.3.1001, please
    update to this version.
To determine what version of the Intel Turbo Memory driver is installed:
    1.    Click Start, then click Control Panel.
    2.    Click System and Maintenance.
    3.    Click System.
    4.    Click Device Manager.
    5.    Expand the Storage controllers category.
    6.    Double-click Intel Flash Cache Logic Chip.
    7.    Click the Driver tab. Then you will see the driver version (for example, 1.0.1.1004).
The new driver and installation instructions can be found here.
Note: The Intel Matrix Storage Driver is updated with this package.
    Step 2: BIOS version
If your BIOS version is older than those listed below, please update to the version listed.
How to check your BIOS version:
    Turn off the system.
    Turn on the system.
While the To interrupt normal startup, press the blue ThinkVantage button message is displayed at the lower-left area of the screen, press the F1 key.
    The
BIOS Setup Utility menu will be displayed. If you have set a supervisor
password, the BIOS Setup Utility menu appears after you enter the
    password.
Check BIOS Version and Embedded Controller Version.
    Turn off the system.
    System BIOS versions:
    ThinkPad X61 or X61s - BIOS version 1.06 (7NET25WW)
    Please
remember that these updates do not solve every possible system blue
screen, but they do resolve several problems related to the Intel Turbo
    Memory driver.

    Dear Tim,
First off, many thanks for the tips for resolving BSOD with Vista + Turbo Memory on X61.  I've been suffering from this BSOD for countless times since I bought in my X61 7673-CW9 in April 2008.
Even prior to having the pleasure to visit this wonderful forum, I followed both steps as indicated, and updated my Intel Turbo Memory driver to 1.5.0.1013 and my BIOS to 7NETB4WW (2.14).  However, the BSOD recurrs.
For the past two months, I've recovered my system to factory default settings using Rescue and Recovery for over twenty times, each time with the latest Intel Turbo Memory driver and BIOS.  Notwithstanding that, BSOD recurrs.
During these painful experiences, I tried two options: 1) making my X61 up-to-date by using System Update and Windows Update (including Vista SP1 or excluding Vista SP1); 2) keeping my X61 the status as factory default (i.e. without updating through either System Update or Windows Update (the automatic/scheduled update function of both is turned off)).  In either case, BSOD recurrs.
I'm 100% positive that the BSOD does not arise from any hardware or software/firmware I install.  I never install any hardware (e.g. RAM).  And, it is not caused by any software/firmware I install: the clear and unequivocal evidence is that at one time,I encountered BSOD while having restored back to factory setting and booting for the first time.
I live in Taiwan, and I seldom heard this BSOD here.  All of my friends (as most of Taiwan residents) using X61 operate in Traditional Chinese environment, whereas I operate in English environment.  In Taiwan, when booting for the first time after purchase/recovery, the Windows Vista Business system provides for lanuage choice (Traditional Chinese or English), and, once chosen, the language cannot be altered later on (unless, of course, the system is restored back to factory default settings).
My system specs are the same as the day I purchased it and are listed below (as I'm not sure if my machine type X61 7673-CW9 is applicable outside Taiwan):
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8300 @ 2.4GHz
    Memory: 1.00 G.B.
    System: Windows Vista Business (32-bit)
    Hard Drive: 160 G.B. @ 7,200 r.p.m.
And, of course, with Intel Turbo Memory 1 G.B.
I contacted the Lenovo support staff here in Taiwan for countless times, but they seem to be clueless.  I learned that some friends at this forum downgraded their OS back to Windows XP, but I chose not to.  The reason is simple: my purchase price for X61 7673-CW9 includes the Intel Turbo Memory, which cannot function under Windows XP (at least so far).
Therefore, I just wish to share my experience here and perhaps I can get some advice from you and other friends here.  Any advice will be tremendously and enormously appreciated.

  • I am unable to Install windows xp with recovery disks.

I have a Toshiba’s Satellite Pro S300-10J laptop Model#PSSB0E-02H00FDU. Some days back its operating system got corrupted. I have its recovery disks(windows Xp)  and now I am trying to reinstall the windows by using recovery disks but unable to do so. Actually when I insert disk 1 it start installation process and then prompt for 2nd disk and when I insert 2nd disk it starts unpacking software image process. At the end it shows a pop up box with the following information.
    Info:
                    Done(Files:28339/28339 Folders: 2558/2558).
                    Please remove the recovery medium!
                                                    |OK|
As I remove the 2nd disk and press ok and then exit it goes shut down instead of rebooting. When I press power button to on it then it goes stuck on windows startup with a message of please wait .
Please support that how can I get rid of this situation and can restore operating system with recovery disk.

I made another attempt but nothing goes productive.
One thing is clear that the recovery disks are ok because a few months back I used same disks to refresh my notebook and did it without any error.
There might be a chance of bios setting because in my absence my sister and her friend tried to install windows and I doubt her friend made some changes in bios but she says that she didn’t made any change except boot priority and during installation got the error.
I have already rest the bios setting to default and in SATA CONTROLLER MODE I changed it from AHCI into IDE.
With recovery disks of XP Installation starts and after image loading it doesn’t restart just goes shut down and upon restarting just stop responding/hang up on startup.
I tried with another CD of XP and during installation when system restarts setup continues on ‘INSTALLING WINDOWS’ with the message that ‘Setup will complete in approximately 35 minutes ‘Installing devices’ and at this stage it hanged up. Finally it shows blue screen with an error like

    Beginning dump of physical memory.
On several attempts the result remains same.
    Need your valuable advice please..

  • Error in recovery media creation

I bought  a new HP laptop recently. Its a HP PAVILION G6 2320TX.I ran the Recovery Media  Creation .After the initial setup and burning of files onto my first dvd, when it comes to verify, i am getting an error that states "We are experiencing errors in recovery media creation. Please try again.” ,and the disk ejects out.
I use SONY DVD-R media so,i guess there shouldn't be any problem with the brand.I tried doing this a couple of time and each time i got the same error.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Akash.

    Hello Akash_Sanu,
I see that you are having problems with the recovery discs creation on your computer.
I would suggest trying a different brand of disc, here is a link that explains the recovery discs process. If you continue to have problems with the disc creation I would suggest contacting HP support for a set of recovery discs.
Here is a link to the contact options for HP support.

  • Airport Utility `install failed' error with both 6.0 and 6.1

    Hi folks
I am running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4 (11E53) and cannot get the Airport Utility to run at all. [5.5.3] The application icon flickers as though it is about to launch and then nothing happens.
I have tried other 5.x downloads and they all fail because I am running OS X Lion 10.7.4.
Doing a standard Software Update or using a download of 6.x from the Apple Support site, the installer comes up with an `install failed' error with both 6.0 and 6.1, having gotten through the complete process and looking like they were `successful'.
It's the only time in two years and many updates later that i have come across this issue, so I am unsure how to start to tackle it.
    Any ideas or suggestions please?
    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to Apple Communities
Backup your files and try this:
    1. Reboot from recovery partition (or as in my case USB recovery drive)
    2. Select Re-install Mac OS X
    3. Allow the process to run through multiple restarts
    4. When reinstall process is complete run software update (side note, my software update would not launch as long as my USB recovery stick was plugged in, weird)
    5. Run all updates saving the Airport Utility 6.0 until last.
    6. Install the airport utility from software update.
