Error with speed retiming render

Question

Having some probs and would be very grateful if someone could point out where my workflows going wrong.
Im working with hdv 1080i50 footage in final cut pro. I ctrl-click on the footage in my timeline, select send to Motion project and motion opens displaying the clip. I then click add behaviour and time remapping. I then change the clip speed from 100 to 50 using the side bar, turning all the other sliders down to 0 as im just going for a straight 50% reduction in the clip speed. I then bring the final cut window back up but the footage still runs at its original speed in the timeline in fcp. I bring the clip up in the fcp viewer, click the motion tab at the top of the window and redo the changes I made to clip speed in Motion. I render and the clip plays back smoothly at 50% speed in the timeline. I save the Motion project, but as soon as I close Motion the sequence in final cut goes red again. When I render it comes out at 25% of original speed and only includes 50% of the original footage.
I've been trying to figure this out for a while now and cant see the wood for the trees. Any help really gratefully received.
