Recently Ive been trying to download Itunes9 for my dell ( using windows vista) and Ive successfully download quicktime however when it comes to downloading itunes itself, ive bee receiving a message stating "Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\iTunes\IpodUpaterEXT.dll. Varify that you have access to that directory"
Why am i constantly recieving this? I tried uninstalling everything and re-installing again but i keep recieving the same message.Can anyone help me out?

That sort of message can be caused by file/disk damage. So try running a disk check over your C drive, as per the instructions in the following document. (Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.)

Does the disk check find/repair any errors? If so, try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

has anyone else gotten this type of message? Just got an ipad and realized our itunes is not working. I think when the most recent version was being installed, it got interrupted.

There is no "apple software update" folder in my C:\program files\
I tried to uninstalled all apple related software, restart the computer and reinstall the itunes, I still get this error message.
It appears that the installation of quicktime was successful.

The problem is caused on my computer by the corporate anti-virus, which blocks writing to any directory named "mozilla*". It is a rule in the registry that I can't change. I have uninstalled Firefox (which no longer runs on this computer due to restrictions), hoping that the iTunes installer would not bother to write files for an unsupported browser--no luck. Any tips here?
