  • When downloading iTunes, I got a message about error writing to file and it told the file. Then it said to verify that you have access to that directory. I have no idea how to fix it. I could really use some help, please.

I was trying to download iTunes on my computer, and while doing so, I got this message: Error writing to file: C:/Program Files (x86)/Common Files/Apple/Apple Application Support/Apple Versions.dll. Verify that you have access to that directory. I have downloaded iTunes numerous times and I have never had this problem. If anyone knows what's going on, I would really appreciate the help.

Well, there's definitely a mac and a Windows version. And you're at the right page. I think the problem is that someone forgot (or decided not to) to update the text at teh bottom of the page to have Mac and Windows.
Just push the button, you'll get the Mac update no problem.

    Hi Rangnath,
For running SharePoint Designer 2013, you need to install Microsoft .NET 4.0 Framework or higher.
Please uninstall the Microsoft .NET 4.0 Framework, and install it again. After that, reboot your machine.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Error1304. Error writing to file while trying to install Reader 8.1.2

I get the following messages when trying to install Adobe Reader 8.1.2 for website.
Error1304.Error writing to file c:\Program files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe. Verify that you have access to that directory.
Then it give me options to RETRY or CANCEL. When I retry it says the same thing.
I have unistalled previous reader, restarting system then tried once again to install and still get the same error message.
What do I need to do? It is unfortunate that many people are having issue of one kind or another downloading and installing the reader.
Please help for I need this for working purposes.
    Carol

    Check whether the folder c:\Program files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader
    exists. Does it exist?
If so, look whether the file acrord32.exe exists in that folder. Does
it exist? If so, try and delete it. Can you?
If it doesn't exist. Try and create a file by that name. Can you?
In each case, if you get an error message, what is it?

  • Error writing workspace file

    Hi all!
When I compile my CVI Project I get sometimes the following message: "Error writing workspace file d:\.... (File already exists)", and afterwards the question to continue or not (see the pictures).
When I continue, the existing .cws file will be deleted. A new cws file is created only on the next compilation. So, when I close CVI before the next compilation, the cws file is lost. Not dangerous but annoying.
I observe this behavior only since version 2013.
    What's wrong?

    Hi, Thomas!
It seems like my similar problem (http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=180&message.id=60376#M60376).
Unfortunately I never beat this (the "solution" doesn't work, the problrem persists). I try to set / change W7 directory access rights without success.
By some indicies I suspect that the cause may be somewhere in file access process on a multi-core computer (I have Dell VOSTRO with Core i7) - but I do not have idea how to verify this.

  • Error writing project file

I am creating a dll project and keep getting the error
    Error writing project file
    Name.prj
(An unspecified error has occured, probably due to corrupted data)
Yet the projects compiles and creates the dll and lib files.

    Hi chetp,
Could you please provide more details? What version of CVI are you using? Are you creating a project from template? Where is the project located?

  • Error writing temporary file

I recently tried installing flash player and hit a problem so I looked it up and found an uninstaller. I was planning to uninstall then install the new version but when I ran the setup I only got the error message "Error writing temporary file. Make sure your temp folder is valid." I dont really know enough to fix this so can anyone help?

Assuming that you are on Windows.
Open Windows Explorer and type %temp% into the Address Bar.  When you hit Enter, does it take you to a valid Temp folder?

  • Adobe Reader Error Code 1310. Error writing to file: C:\ProgramFiles(x86)...

I have been forced to Sumatra by some error in the system.  When I download Adobe Reader 10, during setup, it stops and produces an error window that says 'Error 131. Error writing to file:  C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Adobe\Reader10.0\Esl\Aiodlite.dll. Verify you have access to that directory'...Retry? Cancel? Retry. Then continues then stops at 'Error 1310. Error writing to file.....Reader10.0\CoolType.dll. Verify that you.... then Retry again and it finishes. Then all Icons on my desktop become Adobe Icons. When I click on the 'Adobe reader 10.0 Icon it says "Adobe Reader could not open 'AcroRd32.exe' because it is either not a supported file type or the file has been damaged (for example , it was sent as an email attachment was not correctly decoded)." I have been through this many times with Internet Explorer and Safari with only minor differences as Safari doesn't give me the difficulties with the setup but does have the same effect. I have tried to go back to older versions of Adobe Reader..9.0 and 9.3 to the same end. The only thing I can think of is that I removed Zinio Reader 4, that was necessary for the online magazines that I get from Mother Earth News and others, but thought I was having difficulty due to it being the only recent addition to my PC. I think somehow it may have taken something with it. Anyway I'm an older not so computer literate entreprenuer that has been forced to this and man do I need help.

  • Error 1310.Error writing to file for CS2 install on Win7 for Adobe 7 Pro

I have Adobe 7 Pro that needs to be installed on a Win7 machine that is not supported by Adobe.  They provide a CS2 version with a new serial number for replacement of my product since my product cannot be activated anymore.
When I try to install it, I get the following error after the install process has started.

Any help on getting thru this?

    Hi shooter-1971,
Acrobat 7 is not supported on windows 7.
But you might want to refer to the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the KB Doc : http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-1310-error-writing-file.html
Error 1310 is usually related to insufficient permissions on the folder. Please try enabling the hidden Admin account on Windows 7 and try installing the software and check.
To enable hidden admin account you can refer : http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/3040.enable-disable-the-local-h idden-built-in-administrator-account-in-windows-7.aspx
