Regards

Hi Pat,
I am working on Adobe Reader XI version 11.0.09.
I am using Windows 7 Home premium edition.
After downloading the upgrade it still will not open the pdf document "sent
from an email and this is what it says on the document:
"To view the full contents of this document, you need a later version of
the PDF viewer. You can upgrade
to the latest version of Adobe Reader from
www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
For further support, go to www.adobe.com/support/products/acrreader.html "
If I click the link then it says that Adobe is already installed.

    Hi,
It sounds like you have a special type of form called a "dynamic XFA form".
Currently, Adobe Reader mobile products (Reader for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) do not support dynamic XFA forms that are authored with Adobe LiveCycle Designer.
The message is displayed when a dynamic content is not supported by a PDF viewer.  As far as I know, no PDF viewers on iOS support dynamic XFA forms.
Please use the desktop version of Adobe Reader on a Windows or Mac computer to view and fill out XFA forms.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Pages error: you need a newer version

    Hi,
I haven't upgraded to Yosemite and don't want to for now.
I have a .pages document I created on a computer with the same version of OSX 10.9.5 and Pages 5.2 (actually one is 5.2.2, the other just says 5.2). I can't open the document on either computer, both say: you need a newer version op Pages to open this document.
Any idea on how to solve this without upgrading to Yosemite?
    thanks
    Henk

What happens if you right-click on the document, and via Open with menu item, select the default Pages v5 in the menu entry? Does the document open?

  • Error: You need a newer version of Pages

When I open a document modified or created with the most recent version of Pages for iPad, I can't open them in Pages for Mac (last version so far: 4.2). Please note that they are synced by iCloud. The error message is : "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document. Use Software Update to install the latest version of iWork."
On the other hand, if I export the Pages documents from the iPad via e-mail, then I can open them on the Mac.
And, if I try to open former Pages documents on iCloud, then it works.
    Any idea ?
    Thank you.

    Peerly,
If you have TimeMachine backups, you can look in finder, activate TM, and see exactly how the apps were organized prior to your moving them.
There's never a good reason to go searching for an app in finder just to launch it. You can put it (a shortcut, really) on the Dock, you can put a shortcut on the Desktop, or you can use my favorite method - Spotlight.
To launch an app with Spotlight, type Command-Spacebar, type the first few letters of the app's name and hit Return.

  • HT5534 I down loaded the new  iwork update. Now when I create a document in pages save it and try to open it later some times the message comes that You need a later version of pages. Some times I don't have that problem.

I hate the new 5.0, and am having the same issue. Because I created or opened and saved several documents in the new 5.0 before I realized how bad it is, I had to figure out how to make them usable again.
I have both versions of Pages (5.0 and 4.3) in my Dock for now. If a document tells me that it can't be opned by 4.3, I opn 5.0, open the document, EXPORT it in 4.3 with the same name, and overwrite the old document. That usually (big dog willing and the creek don't rise!) gives me access to my work.
Once I am sure I have no remaining 5.0 douments around, I'll take 5.0 out of the dock.
It truly is a pain in the ***. Here's the comment I left for Apple –
I am now attempting to uninstall Pages 5.0 so I can go back to using Pages 4.3. The designers of 5.0 took away (or hid) so many of the functions that I've come to know and trust that I am appalled.
It is now a kindergarten version of the workhorse I knew and loved. IT EVEN LOOKS like a dumbed-down app now, with cartoon buttons that reflect its audience – people who don't need a sophisticated, customizable publishing tool, who just need simple  icons they can point at LIKE A FAST FOOD CASH REGISTER.
I'll be using either 4.3 or Word for Mac from here on out.

I am trying to open a PDF file and it keeps telling me I need a later version of Abode Reader. My current version is the latest version.

    Thanks for responding.
I am using a Mac with OS X Yosemite Ver. 10.10.1, Adobe Version 11.0..1 (which is the latest for Mac)
It is an online PDF and I am using Safari Ver. 8.0.2
This is the message I am getting when I try to open it:

  • Cant get my pages docs that I created on my iPad (new version of pages) to open on my MAC.  Reads: "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document.". But I have the latest!

Help - I cant get the docs I created in pages on my ipad to open on my MAC. I've used iCloud, emailed to myself - all I get is "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document.".  But my MAC has the newer version!

I have Pages for iOS 2.0.1 on my iPad and Pages '09 (4.3) on my Macbook Pro.
I haven't upgraded anything in the past few months. Still on OS 10.8.5.
    Suddenly, something has changed.
If I open a new Pages doc on my iPad and later try to open it on my Mac, I get the error message saying I need a newer version of Pages.
Also, if I open an existing doc on the iPad (one that I've worked on repeatedly from both devices) I get the same message. A couple did open, but only if I hadn't touched them on the iPad. Anything opened today on the iPad won't open on the Mac.
I can open and edit these docs in the Pages beta at www.icloud.com but not on my Mac.
I don't want Mavericks and a new version of Pages now (I'm in the middle of a major project and have learned not to make major upgrades until major things are finished).
For now, the best I can do is open docs in iCloud, copy all, and paste into a new Word doc. Yes, back to Word. Thought I was finished with Microsoft.
    Is there a better solution?

I created a document in pages about a month or two ago and I can't open it anymore.  When I hit learn more, it directs me to the apps pages, where it says it's installed.......

You have 2 versions of Pages on your Mac.
Pages 5.2 is in your Applications folder.
Pages '09/'08 is in your Applications/iWork folder.
You are alternately opening the wrong versions.
Pages '09/'08 can not open Pages 5 files and you will get the warning that you need a newer version.
Pages 5.2 can open Pages '09 files but may damage/alter them. It can not open Pages '08 files at all.
Older versions of Pages 5 can not open files from later versions of Pages 5.
Once opened and saved in Pages 5 the Pages '09 files can not be opened in Pages '09.
Anything that is saved to iCloud and opened in a newer version of Pages is also converted to Pages 5 files.
All Pages files no matter what version and incompatibility have the same extension .pages.
Pages 5 files are now only compatible with themselves on a very restricted set of hardware, software and Operating Systems and will not transfer correctly on any other server software than iCloud.
Apple has removed almost 100 features from Pages 5 and added many bugs:

It occurs in the \usr\sap\jupgrade\log\CHECKS.LOG file, when I run the 'General Checks' stage of the' PREPARE Module Status' program.
I am trying to patch a SAP 7.01 SAP Portal to EHP2. The server is running Windows 2003 SP2, MS SQL Server 2008 SP1. I believe that the versions of both the OS and DB are sufficient for EHP2. The upgrade will use a 7.2 kernel and I think that the software versions are sufficient for that too.

I have tried to continue by selecting:
Reselect PREPARE modules to be executed again
    and chose Finalization. Then Continue.
    But it says:
Module selection is invalid Unable to execute module 'Finalization'. Module 'Finalization' can run only after module 'General checks' has run successfully
Then I ran the General checks module again, but it failed again with the same error.
Please can you suggest how I can proceed?
    Thanks.

  • You need a higher version, but I already have higher version

I am getting this message when I try and open and modify a saved "fillable" form:
"You need a higher version of acrobat (v6.0 or higher) to fill this form"
It then tells me that my current version is 10.103, obviously higher than the v6.0 they are demanding, and then there is a non-clickable or copyable url of where to go to update my reader.  Attempts to "update" tell me that I already have the latest version and no updates are available.  I have opened this form and updated it every quarter (excise tax form from the state) for the past two years, and have had no issues until now.
Also, once I have clicked OK on that javascript pop up window on open, it covers the top half of the document with yellow box stating "You need Acrobat Reader 6.x or higher to . . . " and the rest is cut off by the print instructions, but I assume it ends with " . . . to fill this form".
    Any help appreciated.

Hi there!  I am recently on Maverick & the latest version of PAGES.  I just went to open up a PAGES document & got the following error message.
You need a newer version of Pages to open this document.
You can download the latest version of Pages form the Mac App Store.
I confirmed I am on the latest version of Pages by visiting the Mac App Store.  When I visit it says INSTALLED.
I created this document with the latest version of Pages.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks so much & continue Being Brilliant out there!

    Hi there fruhulda,
Thanks so much for your reply.  I am truly grateful.  I apologize in advance for just learning this now & from you!  Thank you again!  Your explanation sounds right?  I defintely did not change those.  Currently, I already have documents created in Pages 09 & Pages 5.0 on my computer.  Do I switch back & forth or should I remove Pages 09 from my computer?  If I remove Pages 09 will those already created documents be OK?  Maybe I should just switch back?  I also downloaded the new Keynote, will however I "fix" Pages be necessary for Keynote also?
Thanks again so much!!  People like you make the world a brighter place!!  :  ) StaySm:)ing & Being Brilliant!!

  • TS1060 "You need a new version of Pages to open this document"

I have installed iWork 08 in my MBP Lion. All the documents created in my computer were with this version of iWork. I created some documents months ago that i need to open and update but everytime I try to open the .pages files I get the message "You need a new version of Pages to open this document". As I mentioned these file were created with iWork08 and I have not opened with any other version. I am not planning in buying the newest version of iWork. Can you please help me out?
    Thanks!

Peter is not suggesting that you buy an upgrade to Pages '09, he is suggesting you run Software Update to update to the latest version of Pages '08. Updates are free.

  • Pages '08 says "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document." when opening a Pages '08 Document

Created a document 3 years ago with Pages '08.  Got a new Mac last summer, migrated my user account, reinstalled Pages '08.  Upgraded to Mavericks recently.
Now when trying to open the document I get the message "You need a newer version of Pages to open this document."
Note that I have read a number of the messages here that are similar.  To be clear there is only one Pages (Pages '08) on this system.  Its in the iWork folder.
Is it the case that this document and all the other Pages '08 documents on my system are lost forever?
BTW I have looked at the new version of Pages.  Its just plain awful from UX to quality.  What has gone wrong at Apple and specifically in the iWork group in the past few years???
    Thanks for any help!
    K
And in trying to post this I got the "You are not allowed to create or update this content"  Changed the Community from what was automatically selected and seems to work now.  Whats with Apple Engineering and QA these days???

I've never had Pages 5 on my system.  Just to confirm I copied the file to a USBDrive and gave it to a friend to try out.  He has Pages 5 on a new MBP with latest Mavericks.  When he tried to open it he got the following message:
"You document will open in the new Pages for Mac.  If you save it or edit it, you'll need the latest Pages on iOS7 to open it on an iOS device."
But it did open on his system.  He closed it, no save, and reopened but did not get the above message again.
We concluded that the file is actually a Pages '08 file because of the above message.
However we also suspect that when this file was simply opened in Pages 5.2.2 on his system it got flagged and possibly converted which is actually quite offensive!
    Thoughts/Advice?
