Errors -3, -1603, and 2330. 23

I know these error problems have probably been posted a million times (at least -3), but no one seems to give a straight answer.
As with many people here, I have had trouble updating iTunes
on Windows XP. After attempting to install iTunes numerous times, I'm still getting Error -3.
Then, after viewing these discussions, I decided to attempt to
install the standalone version of Quicktime. I'm getting an error message: Internal Error 2330. 23, C:\Program Files\Quicktime\QTSystem\QuickTimeEssentials.Resources\dal.proj
After being forced to click OK, I get another error message:
Error: -1603: Fatal error during installation, Cunsult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.
Has anyone else gotten these error messages, and have they resolved them? I don't even know where Windows Installer Help is, so if anyone knows where I can access that, it would be a good start.
Thanks,
Bryan

I had the same problem of error messages on re-installing itunes. Nothing on the internet worked.
So try this
When you go through the installation process there will be a screen that says where itunes is going to be installed. Hit browse and choose where to install yourself. I installed in the ipod programme file and it did install.
Hope this works for you.

  • HT201263 I purchased an 1gen 16GB Ipod from a seller. The ipod only shows the connect to itunes logo when connected to computer. The display shows without the word itunes. I got error codes 1603 and 1604 and have followed all the steps that were shown on

I purchased a 16gb ipod touch 1 gen and it wont restore or show the battery chaging icon. It shows the symbol of usb cable and what appears to be an itunes symbol without the itunes words being displayed. Upon trying to restore I have gotten error codes 1603 & 1604. I referred to the apple website for assistance and followed the steps to the letter with no results. So what else should I try or could I try because I have has no such luch thus far? I have held the home button and power button I tried to enter DFU mode but unsuccessful due to the screen boots with apple logo then immediately goes to the itunes screen and no further only when connected. Will not power on without usb connection have charged battery to see if it was the issue and no battery bar locator displays with or without being connected to PC.

    So you did all this:
Error 1603: If you receive this error and the iOS device is not automatically placed into recovery mode, it may be necessary to do so manually. Refer to iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to restore for steps on placing iPhone into forced recovery mode. Also, remove the IPSW and attempt to restore again. If you do not want to remove the IPSW in the original user, try restoring in a new administrator user.
Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • Exchange Server 2013 Missing file on ISO install Error Code 1603

Hi all,   a mystery needs solving any suggestions much appreciated:
We are trying to install Exchange Server 2013 on Windows 2012 server.
The ISO File being used is: SW_DVD9_Exchange_Svr_2013w_SP1_MultiLang_Std_Ent_MLF_X19-35118
All preparation and requisites in place.
During Stage 2 Copying files, we receive an error code 1603 and installation halts.
    The error states:
Installing product F:\exchangeserver.msi failed. Fatal error during installation. Error code is 1603. Last error reported by the MSI package is 'Source file not found: F:\Setup\ServerRoles\ClientAccess\Owa\prem\version\resources\themes\base\0\microsoft.o365.controls.timeline.mouse.css.
Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.'.
We have verified that the Path in the error is correct and exists BUT the file is not present within the 0 folder.
We have downloaded the ISO from our Action Pack resources twice and attempted 4 separate installations.
We have tried both Mailbox/Client Access  and Mailbox only installations.
The missing file: microsoft.o365.controls.timeline.mouse.css. Hopefully the only file misisng???
Any ideas anyone, could we source a different ISO or copy of the file or ?????
    Many thanks in advance

Had the same issue with Exchange 2013 SP 1 Downloaded as an ISO from the Volume License Center, installing on a new Server 2012R2 STD box. I found the equivalent file in another ISO but discovered it was just an empty CSS file. So the easiest way is to not
bother trying to find the file but: 1) open notepad, 2) set save to "All Files", and 3) save an empty CSS file with that filename then place it in the directory indicated in the path given in the error. (Make sure it saves as
a CSS and not as a TXT.)
I reran the install and it completed without issue.

  • Error Message 1603

I’ve followed all the instructions to upgrade my ISScript Installer but I still get error message 1603, and can’t upgrade iTunes to v6. I also can’t purchase songs until I upgrade. You would think that Apple would take care of this asap. Once and for all, what’s going on, and how do I correct it? It looks like I’ll be buying my music elsewhere and playing MP3’s on my iPod.

    hi James!
The install script engine on this machine is older than the version required to run this setup. If available, please run the latest version of ISScript.msi, or contact your support personnel for further assistance.
okay. checking on something further now. (i couldn't quite determine this from your original post.)
which InstallShield document advice did you implement?
    was it:
Setup Is Unable To Find or Update ISScript.msi
    ... or:
Update to the Latest InstallShield Installation Engines
if it was the latter one, which version of the InstallShield Engine did you install?

  • Anybody recieve error message 1603 while restoring?

My iPhone has become frozen during the restore process... all I get is a yellow caution sign telling me connect to iTunes. When I do, following the restore application, i get the unknown error message 1603, and that the phone can't be restored. Anyone out there know what to do?

I allowed my iphone battery to fully discharge and upon recharging got the error message with a large exclamation mark “please connect to itunes”. When I connected to itunes I was told that the phone was in recovery mode and needed to be reloaded. Itunes went out and downloaded the new firmware and began the install process after I approved the input screen that said it would wipe out all my data. 1/3 of the way through the process I received a message box that told me the process had failed to restore the iphone for an unknown error (number 1603).
After looking online and calling ATT as well as Apple the best solution I received was to send the iphone in for replacement (i am 5 hours from an apple store). After fiddling around I have managed to solve the problem on my own.
After trying everything else with no results, I pulled the SIM card out of the iphone and plugged the iphone into my computer. Itunes then reloaded the software and firmware successfully. I then put the SIM card back in and synced it up with itunes and it asked me to confirm the resync. Afterwards it just worked fine.
    My iphone works again!

  • ITunes errors (1603 and 1714)/Unable to Install iTunes/Uninstall Old iTunes

Help! Technically challenged here. I was running iTunes version 5.0 but that has become a problem, and when I went to install the newest version, I get the following error messages:
    1. "Error 1714: The older version of iTunes cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group."
    2. "Error 1603: Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information."
I have tried to uninstall the old version, and it won't uninstall. And now, I have managed to mess up my Version 5.0, which now won't acknowledge my iPod as plugged in--so the old version doesn't even update the iPod.
This is a Windows XP Home, Service Pack 2. I'm running an iPod Mini with the iTunes.
Firstly, is there anyway to get my iPod to be recognized again on the old version of iTunes? I have to admit, I'm afraid to do drastic things on this computer while husband is deployed.
Any help you all can be would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello there, G-Oker.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for the very error message you are receiving:
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Particularly:
    Check USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4000, 4005, 4013, 4014, 4016, “invalid response,” and being prompted to restore again after a restore completes.
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
    Use another USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port on your computer.
Try a different dock connector (or no dock).
Add (or remove) a USB hub between your device and computer.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, with no routers, hubs, or switches.
If you checked your connections and are still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.
