Errors 3260/3259 When Downloading Podcasts

I am trying to download a few podcasts from iTunes, but am running into a few errors. Typically, it will start with fast download speeds, then gradually crawling to a stop, loading a few kb before coming up with an error. The first three say "stopped (err = -3260)", but the rest say "stopped (err = -3259)". I have no trouble downloading songs from iTunes.
I have not recently downloaded podcasts, but when I have tried before I have had no issues.
Possibly related, I have had trouble downloading mp3s online in general lately. I have tried both from Safari and from Firefox. However, using IE in parallels has worked so I haven't gotten around to trying to fix that.
Any ideas?

  • Why do i keep getting error mesaage 3259 when downloading podcasts

I subscribe to various podcasts and i have noticed recently since updating apple software that a simple download podcast keeps failing and i get "stopped err 3259". why is this. it is very frustrating.
    Can anyone help
    thanks

I Googled an found no good solutions. II would try:
    - Making sure that you have the latest version of iTunes, 10.6.
    - Disable firewall and antivirus.
What iOS is currently on the iPod?

    Hi, DickmoAZ.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like a permission issue most likely with the iTunes Media folder.  Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot this issue.

Thanks for taking a stab at it: that didn't prove to be the problem. That option in the settings for tabbed browsing was not checked.
I may be a bit behind the times: I am used to tabbed browsing showing all the tabs it possibly can, instead of just the last one. Sometimes it won't even show the last tab: I can have 15 tabs open, and not see a single tab. I've been confused by this into closing a window with lots of tabs open, because it looks like a single page-window.
My main problem with the tab-bar flashing to the end of the row is that it means a great deal more mouse-clicking around to browse.
I haven't tried installing the latest beta. Maybe that would fix the problem.

It seems Adobe CHAT is non-existent.  Can anyone help?

The chat link can be elusive as can the people that support it over the weekend.  It does work, at least for most people, but not all.
Chat support - For the link below click the Still Need Help? option in the blue area at the bottom and choose the chat option...
Make sure you are logged in to the Adobe site, have cookies enabled, clear your cookie cache.  If it fails to connect try using a different browser.

  • I get an error code 50 when downloading digital movie. How can I fix this issue?

I get an error code 50 when downloading digital copy of a movie to my iTunes. I try to restart and still get the smae error code. I have my PC plugged directly into my modem and still get error, when trying to download failed movies. I have 5 failed downloads. How can I fix this issue?

Try the "Error -50," "-5000," "8003," "8008," or "-42023" section in the Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) section of the following document:

  • What is error code 5105 when downloading free apps?

what is error code 5105 when downloading free apps?

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Are you downloading the trial or what? I have never seen that error, but it may be related to the download application. I would suggest downloading from http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-downloads.html.

  • System Crash when downloading Podcasts

Using Powerbook with System 10.5.2, iTunes 7.6.2
When downloading Podcasts a black-shade system crash occurs requiring restart.
This only started on May 9, previously everything was fine.
It doesn't matter what size or what Podcast, within 60 seconds of downloading, the system crashes every time.
    Any fixes?

    Hey Ya' All!
Thank you Chas, you are right.
I appreciate the posts, but to a couple of you above this post, please read more carefully instead of jumping to conclusions. I am not suggesting the cause. I do not know why it happened the way it did. I am honestly relating the experience exactly as it happened in real time at exactly the same time in the download process six weeks apart.
I am a very experienced user and can only say it was weird. I have never had anything like that happen before. BTW: we own both Mac and Windows based computers and am a fan of both. So please, there is no need to be sell me on Macs.
Impossible as it seems (to me too really) there are other posts with roughly similar experiences (search "blue screen of death"). That is why I took the time to add this. Maybe someone will be a little more helpful.

  • Error 3259 when downloading large podcasts

When I download podcasts that are larger than around 200MB I often get an error 3259. iTunes starts downloading and after downloading 100 MB or so I get this error. When I retry often enough the download sometimes goes through.
Does any anybody else see this problem? I am using a Macbook Pro with the latest Yosemite build and the latest iTunes version.
Small files < 100MB download without problems.
I have seen some information about this error but it seems mostly related to firewall problems. My firewall is turned off.

Do not confuse -3259 with +3259
iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3297 > Specific Conditions and Alert Messages: (Mac OS X / Windows) - includes list of iTunes error codes
    "Error 3000" through "3999"
Alerts with codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the gs.apple.com server on ports 80 or 443. This may be because out-of-date or incorrectly configured security or firewall software is interfering, or due to your Internet proxy settings. If you are using a proxy, try removing the proxy settings, or using a known-good network. If that does not resolve the issue, follow iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.
