Errors in Acrobat 8?
Ok, so I created a form in Livecycle Designer, and I made it so that when a certain option is selected from the drop down box, new form fields will automatically pop up. First off, there is one box that takes a few seconds to pop up when the selection is made and disappear when I de-select it. The rest appear and disappear immediately, but that first one takes up to 10 seconds. How can I fix this? Also, my form will allow you to choose an option from the drop down in Adobe Reader 8, but when I try to open it in Acrobat 8 Standard, it won't let me use the drop down box that auto generates the form fields. Why is this and how can I fix it? All it does when I try to make a selection in the drop down is show the hourglass next to the mouse, the scroll bar lengthens then shortens, but it will not select the option. But, like I said, in Reader it works almost perfectly except for the one box that takes a few seconds to appear. Ideas anyone? I desperately need help!!
I really do not know. However, it is a question that is more appropriate for the LiveCycle forum since it is an option of forms created in Designer, not Acrobat. It may be that your actions in Acrobat are being interpreted as a change of the form and it is not allowed. Also, what you are trying to do may limit yiour users to be those with more advanced Reader or Acrobat versions installed on their systems (AA8 or AA9). Depending on your application, that may be a severe limitation. For other comments from folks, it would help to post an example of the form (or create something that is similar in intent to get your point across.

Error: adobe acrobat elements has encountered a problem and needs to close
When I right-click to Convert to PDF or Convert to PDF and EMail for .xls, .xlsx, .doc, .docx, .pptx, .ppt, .pub, and .igx items (what I've tried so far), I get the following error: "Adobe acrobat elements has encountered a problem and needs to close". It works fine on .bmp .tif, .txt, .htm, and .jpg (what I've tried so far). I am not having problems printing to Adobe to convert, nor am I having problems creating a PDF within a program, and I'm not having problems converting from IE. I am using Windows XP Professional, Microsoft 2007, and IE 7. My Adobe product is Adobe Acrobat X Pro Version 10.1.2. What can I do to resolve this problem? Thanks.
No, I don't have an older version. I did a search on my C drive for anything that has a name of Acrobat Elements and came up with the following: (I'm hoping you can see this)

I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard version in Windows 8.1 and when I try to create a .pdf file, I receive the following error message "Acrobat could not open "file name.log" because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged. To create a PDF document, go to the source application then print the document to .pdf" I am going to the source application and printing the document to .pdf yet it's saving the file as a .log file. After reinstalling the software, I initially didn't encounter this problem but on my second and third attempts to convert files to .pdf format, this error message reappeared. How do I resolve this problem?
I have a similar problem which i did not have before...and it exists only in some powerpoint files which i want to print as a pdf file...and i get the same message as above.
the log says the bellow details...what's the problem and how can i resolve it? thanks.

How do I correct the error: Adobe Acrobat 9 distiller can not find its standard ICC profiles. Please reinstall adobe acrobat to correct this problem?
I have tried all the suggestion in the forums. But I keep getting the error. I reinstalled AA9 Pro and downloaded the updates. But I keep getting the error.
I recently upgraded to Windows 7.You have permissions issues on the respective folders, e.g. Windows\System32\Color and so on. Fix them and allow all apps to access the contents.

I have Acrobat 9.5 and when I try to create>pdf from scanner, it displays an error "Adobe acrobat has stopped working". Is there any way I can use this functionality?
Provide you have Acrobat 9 installed in an OS for which Acrobat 9 is compatible then you can use the functionality.
As well, you need a scanner connected, powered up, and the software installed. Acrobat 9 "prefers" TWAIN drivers.
Always visit the scanner vendor's site and download - install the latest greatest software.
n.b., The Acrobat 9.x product family passed into "End of Support" mid-year 2013.
As well the Acrobat 9.x product family is not compatible with contemporary OSs.

Exporting pdf leads to errors in Acrobat...
Hi, everyone.
I'm hoping someone here might be able to help me. I posted this same issue in the Mac Acrobat forum last week, but I still have not received an answer, so I'm hoping I'll have better luck here. Maybe this is an issue with the Indesign CS5 file, or the way I'm exporting?
Here's the original post:
I've looked around on the internet for a solution for this, but I'm finding no answers that help.
I keep getting the following errors in Acrobat Pro 9.3 when trying to use the pdf optimizer. It's driving me nuts. I'm trying to compress an Indesign CS5 generated pdf. It contains transparent objects, and all the images are .ai files.
In the Acrobat pdf optimizer:
If I leave the transparency box unchecked I immediately get this error:
An error was encountered while processing images.
If I check Transparency, it shows the little loading bar, as usual, and then when that's done I get this:
An error was encountered while flattening transparent objects.
The most annoying part of this, is that I've been using this same file for months now. Every so often the disclosures on it get updated, and I make the edits in Indesign, export, add form fields, and compress using pdf optimizer. Why all of a sudden is it grumpy? Is this a CS5 issue, because this form may not have been updated since I upgraded to CS5 from CS4?
I've tried swapping out the .ai files with newly saved CS5 versions. I've tried flattening layers pre-export. I cannot remove transparency, so that's not an option. But, as a test I removed all images before export and the pdf compressed fine. Any ideas? There's no broken links or anything in the Indesign file.
Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.Yes, I've been saving it with a new name since April of last year. It's a Sales Receipt that has some legal disclosures on it, and they get updated every so often, so I've been using the same file for quite a while now. It was originally created in CS4, or possibly CS3. Every other month or so the bank decides that there's new "stuff" that needs to be added or removed so using current versions is a must. It seems this is the first time I've updated them since upgrading to CS5, so I can't help but think that may have something to do with it.
Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it didn't work. Same error when I use the pdf optimizer.
Just for "fun", I tried exporting an old version of the same form from December, and it worked fine. It has all the same images on it, so it just doesn't make sense. I mean, it's literally the same form at a glance. Though changing the old to new will take hours of looking through the fine print, and details with a fine tooth comb.
Another oddity is that all the other Sales Receipts, for different clients(there's about 8), export and compress with no problems, and those are as old as the problematic one. -
Just purchased Adobe Acrobat XI, when i download it and select run a tab appears with title 'Confirm Upgrade of Acrobat Pro' i select continue, another tab apears stating 'Error Encountered' - Acrobat installer encountered and unexpected failure. I upgraded to Adobe Acrobat version XI Pro after using a trial version. (I am using Windows 7 Professional on my PC) and now that there was an update (that continues to fail), I get a message saying "Error 1324. The path my documents or the volume is invalid. Please reenter it again." I have no idea what to do to fix this - "reenter it" where?. I am also having problems with Acrobat crashing my Outlook. I think the update may fix this problem but so far every time my computer tries to update Acrobat, it fails. Please help.
Yes – but how does one find or get to the Windows registry on the computer,
and what exactly am I typing in the windows registry when I find it? The
path to where the My Documents folder is on my computer? Or where the
program files are?
I am sorry to be asking such rudimentary questions – but I really do not
know.
