  • Error when trying to manage Discoverer Catalog

    Hi!
I've installed Oracle 10g Business Intelligence on a Windows 2000 server. Using the Enterprise Manager, I was also able to create the Discoverer Catalog (D4OSYS schema). But, whenever I try to "Login to Manage Discoverer Catalog", I get the following error:
Error - oracle.dss.d4o.administration.D4OConnectionException-D4O-1103 Error while connecting to the Discoverer Catalog.
Now, I'm 100% sure that the login credentials are correct. Any searches for this error (on OTN or Google) come up with nothing. Can someone please explain to me what is going on? I get the feeling that this is a bug of some kind. If so, are any patches available?
Must say, my confidence in Oracle's new web-based Enterprise Managers are dropping by the minute. Found some nasty bugs in the Database Enterprise Manager with regards to Dimension and Cube creation. Does anybody else have the same experiences?
    Thanks

I got the same error. Opened a TAR on it, but got no solution yet, though we have verified all the basics. Any answer out there somewhere?

  • Error Running Oracle Apps and Discoverer at the same time

    Hello,
We are having trouble running Oracle Apps and Discoverer at the same time on certain user's machines. Here are the specifics:
The user opens Oracle Apps in Internet Explorer. The user then opens Discoverer in another Internet Explorer windows and receives the following error: Runtime Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe abnormal program termination
As a work around, I installed Firefox on those user's machines. These users run Oracle Apps in Internet Explorer and run Discoverer in FireFox. This has solved the problem in 99% of the cases. However, there is one user who is having FireFox using Discoverer freeze when running Oracle Apps in Internet Explorer.
Can anyone provide any insight on how I can solve these conflict issues so users can run Oracle Apps and Discoverer at the same time?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Carlos

    Hi Michael,
I agree with you completely. It is reccommended to run 10g on a separate physical server unless you have sufficient resources to run on the same server (which even most large clients do not) Even then, I would recommend a separate server.
I should have put my comment in context :-)
a.) I was only stating that it was possible
    and
b.) whether 10g is installed on the same physical server or separate should not affect the client browser crashing issue that was posted.
I do have an install with EBS11i and Discoverer 10g on the same physical server and it works fine (this is sandbox/ TEST). Most of my large customers have 10g installed on multiple physical servers due to load balancing (capacity).
I do work for Oracle. I try to help out on the forum when I can, but it is hit or miss :-(
I would be glad to discuss anything privately.
As for the issue at hand, I can reproduce the problem and here is what is occuring.
I have EBS 11i configured with Jiniator 1.3.24
I have Discoverer 10g configured with Sun Java plugin 1.4.2_06
    1. If you launch EBS 11i apps and a form with MS IE, then the browser launches the form using Jiniator JRE 1.3.xx (whatever you have configured in AutoConfig for EBS11i)
    2. Next, the user navigates to EBS 11i SSWA and launches a Discoverer workbook.
What occurs is a child IEXPLORE.exe process is spawned from the parent IEXPLORE.exe process and Discoveer Plus is launched. The parent iexplore.exe process will be attached to the Jiniator JVM. Now if Discoverer is configured with
    a.) Sun Java Plugin or
b.)a version of Jinitiator that is a different version from what EBS 11i is configured with
then you may get this conflict.
It really is an MS IE/JRE conflict with Jinitiator and Sun Java Plugi and the way the broswers attaches to the JVM (IMHO) as this behaviour could be reproduced with other non-oracle java applets.
You can workaround the situation by:
    a. configure EBS11i and Discoverer to use the same version of Jiniator 1.3.xx
    b. educate the users to open one MS IE browser to connect to EBS11i and then open a second MS IE browser to login to EBS11i SSWA or Discoverer 10g Plus directly to launch workbooks. They need to to this by clicking on the icon and not using File >> New browser. Clicking on the icon will spawn a new parent iexplore.exe process that can attach to a second/different JVM. File >> New Window will spawan a child of the parent.
    c. As you did use two browser versions. MS IE for EBS11 connection and FireFox for Disocverer 10g connection.
I would choose optoin b, so that you can use Sun Java Plugin with Discoverer.
Open to any comments. I hope that helps you workaround the problem. The ideal solution is to have EBS 11i use/cerified with the 1.4 or 1.5 JRE. In poking around, I see there is a related post to this on one of Oracle's EBS 11i Product Managers Blog.

  • Errors while Importing SQL into Discoverer

    Hi,
I am trying to import the following query in Discoverer and getting the error: "No appropriate join found in EUL (possible missing mandatory filter in SQL)". Can someone assist me with this....

    a.resort,
    b.some_date
    from reservation a,

I appreciate the solutions and here is what I have tried:
    1) It does work in SQL (Toad)
    2) I have refreshed all the Business Areas
    3) I tried creating it internally in Discoverer but it seems complexed and dont how to
Here is another query that I was trying and getting the error "Attemp to Open Workbook failed":

  • Error when associating workflow with Task Content Type

Using SharePoint Designer 2010, I have created a simple workflow that sends an email out when a tasks due date has past.  I created this as a Global Workflow and then tried to "Associated to Content Type", selecting "Task".  I am then taken
to... COMPANY PORTAL--> Site Settings--> Site Content Types--> Task--> Add a Workflow. When I try to associate the new "Global" workflow and select OK I get the following error...
    Error
Workflows may not be associated with content types whose base is on 'WorkflowTask'.
I have looked up the error but find no real explination of what it means.  And I have associated global workflows with custom content types and never had this issue.
    So what's going on?
    Thanks
    Steve
Thanks in advance for your time. Steven

    Hi ,
I understand that when you bind the workflow to Tasks content type, there is an error. I can reproduce this error. This is because we cannot add a reusable workflow to a workflow tasks content type. When you add the reusable workflow to the Tasks content
type, you must have checked the ‘Add this workflow to all content types that inherit from this content type’. In this way, the workflow will be added to all the Tasks content type and workflowtasks content type. There will an error. After you close the error
message, the workflow is added to the Tasks content type.
The workaround is the check No to ‘Add this workflow to all content types that inherit from this content type’.

So after some days i found the answer to my problem, the user i was using when associating the OC4J instance was not in the appropriate groups, so i had to add it to these groups:
    cn=iASAdmins,cn=Groups,cn=OracleContext
    cn=OracleDASCreateUser,cn=Groups,cn=OracleContext
hope this helps if someone gets stuck as i was :)

  • Apache Error During the Installation of Oracle 10g Infrastructure

    Hi,
I am installing the Oracle 10g Infrastructure.During the OPMN Configuration Assistant Installation, i encountered the Apache error. The error is failed to start a managed process after the maximum entry limit. I tried this command: opmnctl startproc ias-component=HTTP_Server but still the windows displays this message: Apache.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. When I open the logs located at <ORACLE_HOME>\opmn\logs\HTTP_Server.log, the logs says Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?. I tried to uninstall using deconfiguration.pl but the program says that its ok to use the Universal installer. I uninstall then deleted the entries at the registry and then reinstall it, but still, it displays the error. Are there any solution that can solve this problem?
I am installing in windows xp service 2. My oracle infrastructure version is 10.1.2

    Hi,
There is no error_log file under this directory: <ORACLE_HOME>/Apache/Apache/logs. Maybe the cause is the conflict of computer name. I'll keep you posted as long as I finish installing the application.

  • Error while logging in using Discoverer Desktop

    Hi Discoverer Gurus!
I am using Discoverer version 4.1.48.06.00 to develop my reports. We have two database instances here. For one of them I have no problem in logging in.
However, when I try to log in as an Oracle Application user for another instance using correct username and correct password and correct connect string (as specified in my tnsnames.ora), I get the following error:
'Unable to coonect to Oracle Applications database: invalid username/password'
I've re-checked my applications user name and password many a times and it is correct.
Please note that the 'Oracle Applications User' checkbox is also checked when I try to log in.
It is indeed quite queer that I can log in for one database and get an error for mthe other one.
    Can someone suggest a solution.
    Thanks and regards,
    Aparna

    Thanks Raj!
We are using Apps 11.5.10. When you have suggested creation of secure folder, do you mean that to be created on local machine?
Secondly, I've applied only one patch 3201601. Which others are required to be applied?

  • [urgent] D4O-1014 error when connecting to OracleBI Discoverer

    Hi everyone,
I try many approaches even remove all dimensions and cubes, still has the error msg when connecting to OracleBI Discoverer Version 10.1.2.2.
    Oracle Database is 9.2.0.7.0
D4O-1014: An unknown exception had occurred while connecting to the database
Do you have any hint or suggesion?
    Thanks.

First : make sure you have a backup of your AW data model.
I think you will find there are some additional CWM/CWM2 dimensions/cubes owned by SH in the metadata catalogs that do not actually exist. I cannot remember all the commands but if you look in the OLAP documentation for 9i one of the OLAP manuals refers to the CWM_ and CWM2_ views and the PL/SQL packages that can be used to remove the dimensions and cubes. I think all the offending objects will be owned by the user SH but check before you delete anything.
Once you have removed the old objects run the following commands as the OLAPSYS user:
    exec CWM2_OLAP_METADATA_REFRESH.MR_REFESH;
    exec CWM2_OLAP_METADATA_REFRESH.MR_AC_REFESH;
Also make sure you do not assign the OLAP_DBA role to your user, only assign OLAP_USER role.

  • Error: registry association issues

Whenever opening the newly downloaded version of Adobe Illustrator from the cloud, it gives the following error:
"Adobe Illustrator has detected some registry association issues, which need to be rectified for Illustrator to work properly. To fix this, right click Illustrator.exe and select "Run as Administrator" to have the required privileges. Illustrator will then attempt to correct this problem."
I have done as suggested and ran as an Administrator, but it doesn't fix the issue. The username we are trying this under has Administrative privileges on the machine in question. It is using a 64bit version of Windows 7. I've looked up the error, but have been unable to find anyone experiencing the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.

that is exactly what i did. I uninstalled the adobe cc illustrator and photoshop after i installed the new 2014 versions. and my extension manager won't upgrade either

  • Error PRVF-7565 received when installing Grid Infrastructure 12102 on OEL7/64bit

When installing GI on OEL7 I got this error PRVF-7565. Any clue?

    Hi,
    Try use kfod utility:
Note: Keep in mind that the Grid Infrastructure software does not need to be installed to use kfod, since kfod is located as well on the staging area where you uncompressed the Grid Infrastructure software, as the following example:
    /stage/grid/stage/ext/bin/kfod
Where: "/stage" is the directory where I uncompressed the source software for the Grid Infrastructure software.
    And put here :
    $ kfod asm_diskstring='/dev/usasdirvg801_asm*' disks=all
