Errors in complex BC4J projects management - 10.1.2.1.

Sometime we need to apply changes to BC4J entities (e.g. removing/renaming a field or an association).
If some ViewObject / ViewLink is present in the same project I'm informed of the problem and I should repair it by hand.
This is noisy.
But if I've a project in a different workspace wich imports classes (suggested method) of the project I changed it gives me errors opening/compiling the project and the related Vo/Vl are corrupted ( I don't mean the file is corrupted but the file is inconsistent and should be edited by hand in order to try to repair it).
I've hundreds of such projects and then the problem become impossible to handle.
Is there any way to avoid BC4J xml files corruption ?
Is there any way to verify / apply changes to many different projects ?
Any new in 10.1.3 about that problem ?
Tks
Tullio

I second Tullio's concerns...
BC4J/ADF has many great features, but managing the various objects and dependencies across multiple projects is very tedious and error prone. You cannot have everything in one large project.
I have tried various methods to control this; but eventually, you have to make changes to EO, VO, Links, etc., and Tullio's concerns are justified. I was in a recent conversation with others who expressed the same concerns based on experience; enough to consider alternatives to BC4J just from a management/change perspective.

  • Error in Interfacing Project Invoices to AR - No Active Project Manager

I am getting an error while transferring a projects invoice to AR.
I am running concurrent program 'PRC: Interface Invoices to Receivables' program from a responsibility that was created as per the client project security requirements.
The output  gives an error message - 'No Active Project Manager Found'.
    Note:
    - The project manager is active on the project.
    - The person record of the project manager is active with an active HR assignment.
    - The project manager role is not end dated.
When I run this same program from the standard Project Implementation Super User responsibility for the same project, the invoice gets interfaced to Receivables without any error.
    Why does this happen ?
Is this concurrent program dependent on any menu / function / profile option ? If so, which one ?

  • Premiere Pro CS6 Project Manager gives error & will not manage project - OS X Lion 10.7.5

Premiere CS6 project manager reports  an error and will not manage my project. I have tried several times with both "Create New Trimmed Project" and " Collect Files and Copy to New Location". I have also tried to manage the project with options checked and unchecked (Include Preview Files, Include Audio Conform Files, Rename Media Files to Match Clip Names). Every time I try to manage the project, the process takes a few hours and then gives an error asking me to try again.
The project is 90 minutes long and uses multiple footage formats:
    Sony FS100
    Sony NEX7
    Sony NEX-5n
    Canon C300
    Canon 5DmkII
    Panazonic HVX200
    My computer is:
    Processor  2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory  12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63)
Is this a bug, or are there specific things I can do to troubleshoot the problem? I have read of issues with AVCHD. I have confirmed all of my AVCHD folders are intact. Any other Ideas?
    THANKS!

I have this same problem on a Mac with CS6. I was simple trying to archive a project using the "collect files" option. After five or six hours of troubleshooting (Thanks Adobe) I have narrowed it down to MXF clips that came over in a Final Cut EDL (Projects created in PP with MXF files seem to be fine).  In other words, as I was transitioning from FCP to Premiere Pro, I sent four or five projects out of FCP as an EDL, opened them in PP and continued to edit.  It seemed to work really well until I attempted to archive my media.  If there was a single raw MXF file in the timeline (Not the project panel for some reason) the Project Manager would give me the standard error:"An unknown error occurred during the Project Manager operation. Please save your project and retry the operation.".
I have found two solutions that seem to work, both of which are a pain in the ax.
Option 1: Save the original project file only to an archive folder.  Then delete all the old timelines from the project, and save the project with a new name.  Create a new timeline and just drag all the raw video and audio into it. (Project Manager needs a timeline of some sort to archive) Then use the Project Manager to archive the modified project.  If I need the project in the future, I'll need to open the original PP project and relink all the media from the archived "media only" project folder.
Unbelievably, if you were to take this route and then re-edit the project in the future, it looks like you would run up against the same archiving issue AGAIN next time (At least using CS6). You'd have to go through all the steps above to archive it a second time. Depending on the size of your project, you may want to take option 2 and get the pain over with once-and-for-all.
Option 2: If you only have a couple of MXF files in the timeline (in my case I had mostly renders from AE by the time I was done and THAT raw project had archived in AE just fine) you can export the raw MXF files to another format, then replace the media in your project panel.  Finally, use the Project Manager to archive the project like you should have been able to in the first place if Adobe had written the code well in the first place!

  • Project Manager error--copy & collect

We are trying to collect files & copy to new location through Project Manager in PPro CS5.  We exclude unused clips and made sure the destination has plenty of free space.
On 3 separate projects on 2 different Windows 7 machines, we have the same problem.  It starts working, then eventually gives us an error "An unknown error occurred during the Project Manager operation.  Please save your project and retry the operation."  We've tried saving to a different destination, closing PPro, opening and trying again---all with the same result.  It consistently gives us the error, but seems to give us the error at different progress points.
I've seen other posts that mention similar problems and solutions, but since this is happening to us across multiple machines and projects it appears that ours is a different problem.  Our projects are fairly simple, no major effects, just some .mts, .m2t, and jpeg files.  This process used to work for us without a problem. Please advise.

In practice, if you have moved several files from location A to location B, when you open the project, Premiere throws up a dialogue box asking for the location of one of the files.  If you locate that file, Premiere automatically links to all the rest of the files you moved to B.
There is also a useful little check box in the dialogue box, which if ticked shows only exact file name matches.  This did not always work in CS4, but seems fine in CS5.
It is better to do the re-linking at this stage because if you do not, once the project is open, you have to re-link each asset individually, which is a pain.
In the days of SD, with avis and much smaller hard dirives, the crate a trimmed project function was useful as you could save only those parts of captured clips that you needed, but with the more highly compressed mpeg etc files, Premiere no longer trims the captured video, but merely copies the entire file to a new location, as far as I can see.

  • Project Manager Stability (CS5.5,CS6)

    Hey all,
I'm using Adobe CS5.5, but the Project Manager isn't entirely stable. It's been infamous for the An unknown error occured during the Project Manager operation.  Please save your project and retry the operation". error message result.
Did this get fixed in CS6?
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) on Dell Precision, 12Gb RAM. I submitted a bug report to Adobe.
Most of my footage is .mpg, .m2t, .mp3, .wav, maybe a few .JPGs.
Thanks for any insight you guys have!

Without knowing anything about your work it is impossible to judge these things specifically. Generally I'd say you are hopelessly overdoing it with the GPU. I don't know a single use case that actually uses 4 GB on any graphics card except for games. Most OpenGL plug-ins in AE are limited to 2 GB and while this of course could change in the future, currently I see no realistic scenario to push it beyond that, because in most cases then the plug-ins will simply crash due to bugs or their internal logic not being able to deal with more VRAM. Likewise you will see zero benefit of this in C4D unless you use a GPU third-party renderer like Octane. C4D's OpenGL performance will collapse on itself long before you have filled all the memory with textures... Similarly, I see no advantage of 64GB RAM over 32GB. I do heavy CAD scenes all the time, but still have enough room left on my systems with 24 and 32GB, respectively. AE won't use that much RAM even with all MP settings at full on most projects as well. Having the fastest CPU is another matter and many functions in AE, PS and C4D are of course pur CPU and will work faster on a faster processor. With regards to the cache stuff, scroll down a few posts and make up your mind...

  • Project management tools for complex publishing project?

I was wondering what project management tools people use for managing complex InDesign projects? Software-oriented project management tools, or are there tools specifically for publishing projects?

The "Yes" is a link to a list of them. There are also a number of web-based services like 37 Signals.

  • Premiere cs6 unknown error during the project manager operation

It appears this is an ongoing issue that needs to be addressed by Adobe.
I remember back in CS3 this was an issue and it still appears to be unresolved.  I'm using a Windows 7, HP Z workstation with Quadro FX graphics card, plenty of Ram, with an efficient RAID system. I need to provide a complete project (with files folder & assets in a central folder - maybe even trimmed assets) to my clients.  The Project Manager create Trimmed Project continually fails, as well as Collect files and Copy to New Location.  Following the Adobe instructions, no screensaver, turn off Premiere Autosave, don't use other programs that will impact machine usage - the results are still the same - unknown error - PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE ADOBE ! ! ! ! So my question is, When will Adobe address this issue?

  • Project Manager plugin missing error message

When opening documents InDesign CS 3 (5.0.3), I get an error message advising that the document uses the Project Manager plugin, which is "missing." These documents were created in a previous version of InDesign (probably CS1).
Upon saving changes, I get this error message and am required to overwrite the existing document every time.
Some of the images in the document may have been created by a previous user in a CAD program, which is what this plugin seems to relate to (from what I can discern from the limited info I've found online).
All images, however, appear to be either TIF, EPS or AI. There are no DWG images that I can see, though some of the EPS images may have been exported from CAD.
I've been unable to find the Project Manager plugin online. Does anyone know where I can find it -- or, if not, how I can disable the use of the plugin in these InDesign documents (and/or images placed therein)?
I'm running Mac OSX 10.5.4 on a new iMac.
    Thanks!
    Jim

Open the file in CS3 and then export it back out as INX. Open the INX
    file to continue working.

  • Error Message: Project Manager has run out of Memory

    Hi there
So. I’m running Logic Pro on a Mac Pro and a Mac Book. No problem with it on the Mac Pro, but get this error message every time I open Logic on the Mac Book:
Project Manager has run out of memory.
The Mac Book has 1GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and 43 GB Hard drive space available.
    Can you help?
    Kind regards
    Tim Arnold

Ah yes, good old Project Manager. There are plenty of times when it causes more problems than it solves.
You might try deleting the following folder:
    User/Library/Preferences/Logic/PM Data
If you use Project Manager, it's easy enough to rebuild the table. If you don't then don't worry - just delete it. By the way, if you're into Project Manager or would like to know more, go to the website of the perhaps the most generous man in the Logic world, Edgar Rothermich and grab some of his user manuals.

  • "unexpected error" when w export a film from Adobe CS6 Project manager? Help?

When trying to copy over a production via Project manager to another drive the system seems to be exporting the media etc and at the very end it says "Unexpected Error. Save yoru file and retry." We've done this several times and been on the phone with tech support for eleven hours and no joy.
Anyone have any ideas? We are on 6.01 and this is still a buggy program.

    Yes,
I am producing TV shows for FOX TV in LA. We completed editing a 30 minute special for local broadcast. We need to get the piece off of our machine in the contract studio and over to sound so that we can do a sound EQ. I am using the following process.
Project Manager> Source is the film sequence with a small animation piece> Collect files and copy to a new location (our esternal media/show drive) Includes all files The project size is 125 GB. and resulting project size calculates at 125 Gb.
We next select OK and the project manager seems to be copying the project to a new location. It takes about 30 minutes and when the time bar reaches 98% it cashes. We get a diaglouge that says "an unexpected error has occured please save and try again."
We have spent hours on the phone with tech support and gone through a number of ideas inclduing checking for Microsoft conflicts etc. No joy. The machine this is on is not a server. It's a Dell on Windows 7 running 16GB of RAM but no Cuda card.
We have deadline to meet and this is not helping. If we can;t do this here we will recut the show in FCP on the MAC. I prefer Premiere but at least FCP works.
    Please advise and thank you.

  • Project Manager error

Hi, I tried using Project Manager for the first time to archive a project. I chose the option to save all files. Wanted to archive to an external drive, via eSata. I tried to archive several times, but each time got a very generic error message that said, "Unknown error during project manager..." I finally just dragged and dropped the project folder onto the external drive and it copied just fine. I'm wondering if anyone has some ideas as to what could cause the error in Project Manager. I'm on Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit, i7-960, using CS5. Thanks.

    Hi, Rich.
I don't have a solution yet. When I couldn't make Project Manager work, I just dragged and dropped my whole project file onto my archive drive. Next time I need to archive a project, I'll see if any of the advice I received on the forum helps. If it does, I'll let you know.

  • P3 Project Manager Crashing with EBDClient error, when refreshing (F5)

My company has 3 sql databases for Prima on a server; 2 are approximately 1.5GB, and the third is just over 2GB

  • Project Manager Errors

Lately whenever I try to create a trimmed project using Project Manager, I get a message that "Project Manager has encountered an unknown error." Do you have any idea as to the cause of this? Thanks.

Thank you, Eddie. That was a big help, although in an indirect way. The post you directed me to clued me in to the possibility that the problem might be PM's inability to handle a particular clip. I start most of my projects from a template and then save the project under a new name. Right around the time I started having problems using PM, I had added a new clip (an After Effects composition) to the template. So I tried deleting that, and voila! Thanks again.
