Errors in PDF versions of manuals

Does anyone know an alternate site for the Photoshop elements 13 manuals. The ones on the site are faulty:
Elements Organizer 13 manual (PDF) has a chapter that is overwritten by a previous chapter.
Photoshop Elements 13 manual (PDF) cannot be downloaded because it always hits a "Expected a dict object" error.
I am not encouraged.

Pdfs with other versions are okay:
Tested successfully with Adobe Pro 9 (Version 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)), Reader X (Version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x)) and XI (Version 1.6 (Acrobat 7.x))
Also cannot open embedded pdfs which have been embedded with this version (getting a similar error).
Importantly I have removed/disabled all security options in Adobe Reader, following numerous internet suggestions from Adobe and elsewhere. This does not fix the problem.
Currently the work around is to re-save the pdf with something other than Adobe Reader 9 (so the version updates), but we would prefer not to do this for all the old pdfs we have.

Opening pdf Version of User Manual from Within Aperture 3

In Aperture 2, I could open the pdf version of the User Manual from the Help Menu. I've downloaded the pdf version of the Aperture 3 Manual and would prefer to open it (instead of the html version) from within Aperture using Acrobat or Preview. Is there a way to set this up .... perhaps with an Applescript or a Service?

Try this.... http://documentation.apple.com/en/aperture/usermanual/ (I realise you already have it)
Click on the Aperture3 User manual Link, when it opens in Safari, go to > File > Print (don't worry) > you then get a drop down menu > click the PDF link (next to the help question mark) > then from the new drop down menu click > Save PDF to Aperture
Peter, I haven't tried this myself so am not sure if it's what you want, let me know if it is what you require, I would be interested to know...

Peter I tried it, it only downloaded the first page and let me save it in Aperture as a Project... Not what you needed i'm afraid... back to the drawing board

Designer form prompts Reader X error:"This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader"

I have a PDF form that was created using LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2. PDF version 1.6, so it's good for Reader 7.x and above.
When someone using Adobe Reader X tries to open the form, they get this javascript error message:
"This PDF form requires a newer version of Adobe Reader. Without a newer version, the form may be displayed, but it might not work properly. Some form elements might not be visible at all. In an internet connection is available, clicking OK will download and install the latest version."
Is there anything I can do to the form that would make this error message go away? Is this a know issue with Adobe Reader X or Designer?

Reader X has come out with additional security features that must be disabled to get any PDF form w/code to work.
Open Adobe Reader X --> click on Edit --> Preferences. Under the General Category, uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup" (last checkbox in the dialog box). Click OK and try to open your form.

Where can I download PDF-versions of the manuals for 3.6?

For 3.5 I found Coherence manuals in PDF-format but for 3.6 I cant find them. Where are they loacated?

You can find 3.6 documentation at the following location:

For example, under Technical Information, you can select Coherence Documentation, then Developer's Guide, then "View PDF" option on the upper right corner for the PDF version of the manual.

Adobe Reader for Windows Phone cannot open older PDF versions?

I've found that Adobe Reader for Windows Phone displays the following error when I try to open certain PDF documents: "There was an error opening the document".
After doing some limited testing I found that it can successfully open PDF documents which were saved as "PDF version: 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)", but the error appears when it tries to open documents saved as the older format "PDF version: 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x)". (I am checking the filetype version by opening the documents in Adobe Reader X on my PC and looking at the document properties).
My phone is a HTC 7 Mozart running Windows Phone 7.5. I noticed the problem when I was using the SkyDrive app to try and look at some PDF files I have saved in SkyDrive. SkyDrive downloads the file and then passes it to the Adobe Reader app to view. It works when I look at a newer version 1.5 PDF but not the older v1.3 type. Unfortunately my HP Photosmart 5510 scanner outputs scans as PDF files and only in the older file version.
I've tried reinstalling the SkyDrive app and the Adobe Reader app on my phone. (The Adobe Reader app is version 10.1.1, build 20120919).
Is this a known limitation, or is this a bug?
If this is a limitation that won't be fixed - is there an easy way I can convert my files to the newer file type? (Adobe Reader X on my PC doesn't seem to offer a way to convert existing files)

Submitting pdf version of forms central form multiple times

I have a form I created in Adobe Forms Central and it is great. It is our critique form that reviewers fill out after they have seen a high school musical. I send three reviewers to each musical and because the questions for each musical are the same, there will be 3 reviewers filling out the form for 50+ musicals this year. The critique is long and requires some time for them to fill out, so I downloaded a pdf version of the form. The problem I am now having is that the submit button on the pdf form is NOT working. Which defeats the purpose of creating the form and having a forms central account in the first place. Do I need to download a pdf for EACH reviewer for EACH musical? Having to manually enter the information into the forms central responses tab is very frustrating when I don't see where the problem is. Please help. Thank you!

This should work. You don't need to download multiple PDF files. You should read this FAQ: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-2653
Make sure everyone is using Adobe Reader and not some other viewer.
If you are using Adobe Reader and its not working plesae send the PDF to [email protected]

PDF version of presenter files - where does the attachments icon go?

When I save my Presenter files to the server, I can link in attachments related to the presentation.

When I save the same files as a pdf - the GUI no longer has a paperclip icon to access the attachments.
Is this a user error, a setting or a bug?

Thank you Leo for you response - this looks promising, I can now see the paperclip, but none of the attachments appear- in the test presentation that I provided the unisa link from the server vesion does not appear in the pdf version - but it does in your example, which makes me think it might be a setting.
I tried another from my end which had >10 attachments on the server version

How do I convert a Word doc into an earlier version of pdf - eg 1.3?

I am just curious: why would anybody want to/need an older PDF version than the newest (1.7)? Are there really people out there who use software that cannot read PDF 1.7?
When I create a PDF (e.g. with Acrobat), the default format is always something terrible old, like 1.3, and I have to manually change it to 1.7 (because I know that none of the recipients use Acrobat Reader 4.0).
My suggestion: ask in the CreatePDF forum what the default output format is. I bet it's something old like 1.3.

With the Error 2, let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?

PDF version changes after deleting a page and "Save"

I use Adobe Acrobat Pro 11.0.04. I have a PDf in version 1.4 (Acrobat 5.x). I add 1 or 2 pages at the beginning and/or the end using the "Insert" - "Empty page" option. When I now choose "save", everything goes well and the version of the pdf remains the same.
However, sometimes it occurs that I have to delete pages certain pages. I select the thumbnails of the page, click right and choose "delete pages". My pdf is now still in version 1.4. I choose "file" and "Save". Now my pdf version has been automatically changed to version 1.6 (Adobe 7.x). The same thing happens when I use "File" - "Save as". I can't seem to find the setting that changes this PDF-version.
I know I can use "File" - "Save as optimized". However I always get an error (on fonts or transparancy objects) when trying to save as version 1.4.
The software that processes my PDF afterwards, requires a very strict pdf version (and settings). Therefor it's important that the pdf settings don't change.
Does anyone has a solution for this problem? Is this a settings in Acrobat Pro? Is there a work around for this problem?

You are right with "save as optimized" is the way to go, however I always get error messages using this function. When I save as optimized, Acrobat will first save the pdf (and thus convert it to version 1.6). After that Acrobat will start converting the pdf (flattening transparant objects, etc.) back to version 1.4. I mostly get an error on the transparant objects.
My version is in dutch but the error should be something like "an error was encountered while flattening transparent objects"
I don't really understand why these objects have to be flattened again as the pdf I started working with was already in version 1.4.

I am trying to use the EXPORT Data functionality in VC and do a "PRINT PDF". I followed the "HOW to EXPORT DATA from VC" document which had the following formula

Everything else works when I do the Export, for example : Export to Excel, Export to CSV but the PDF one gives an error "Error Generating PDF".
When I click the button, it seems like VC does communicate with the PORTAL CONTENT DIRECTORY, since it does bring up the selections box(screen) for PDF, but as soon as I click ok , it gives a message on the top left of the screen as "Error Generating PDF".
We have BI 7.0 with the patch 10
VC version is 7
Have ADS setup on the server which is Configured correctly to have ADS (32 bit).

Please check the following SAP Notes for details:
Note 928493 - Error when generating a PDF
Note 925741 - Adobe document services (ADS) with non-supported platforms
Note 944221 - Troubleshooting if problems occur in forms processing
Also, recheck the ADS configuration and see that ADSUSER Password has not expired. If issue persists set the Trace Level for Web Dynpro to 'ALL'. You can find detailed information about setting the Trace Level in Note 742674. This should give you more details of the error.
