Errors transferring tracks to Zen X

Zen Xtra 60Gb Firmware .03.02 Mediasource 2.0.07
Windows XP sp2 IBM T30 Laptop using DeLock CardBus USB 2.0 PCMCIA Adapter
Hi, Brand new replacement ZenX and I have been able to transfer 87 out of 9800 tracks to it using the Audiosynch Wizard. every time it tries to write anymore tracks to the player I receive an error message saying "Player is either not connected or busy, please try again later" followed by " Unable to create file. Please restart player and try again."
The transfer icon on the ZenX stays in the "transferring" mode with the arrows dark. I have to disconnect the USB cable to enable me to to continue...but I still can't transfer any tracks.
I have moved the ZenX USB cable to the laptop's own USB .0 port, also removed the track it was trying to transfer ( in case it was corrupt ), also removed the idle timeout on the player and these made no difference.
So I deleted all tracks from the player and started again. This time it got to track 287 and stopped with the same error.
It also doesn't work in "Import Tracks".
I gave up and updated the software to MediaSource 2.03.29. this made no difference.
I really like this player but I am getting increasingly frustrated that I keep getting problems with it, seeing as it is a replacement for my first player which had the headphone socket problem. Please help.
Sven

Mbriles,
There are a couple of things to check in this case:
) Make sure that you have the latest drivers and firmware for the player installed. They can be found at http://us.creative.com/support/kb/article.asp?l=2&sid=4794

    - Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.
    - In the Sources window, click to view PC Music Library. (You should have already imported tracks into your PC Music Library. If not, please do so.)
    - Go to View->Right Panel View and select to view your MP3 player.
    - In the PC Music Library content panel, select the tracks that you want to transfer.
    - Transfer the tracks from MediaSource's PC Music Library to your MP3 player by clicking the arrow pointing from left to right.

  • Media Source - 'file of this name already exists' transfering tracks from Zen Micro to

I've come home for the weekend, and I'm trying to transfer a few albums from my Zen Micro to my Mum's PC for her. Normally this works fine, but for some reason today I keep getting the message 'A file of this name already exists' for about 80% of the tracks I try to transfer. One or two tracks from each album will work and the rest will fail.
These are new tracks and they definitely aren't already in her music library - I've double checked the C dri've too.
I'm given the option to overwrite the exisiting tracks, so I gave that a try with one album, but the tracks still aren't didn't show on there once I'd transfered, despite the track number not going up, so god knows what's been overwritten with those!
    Can anyone help?
    Cheers!

Your firmware is not the PlaysForSure version.
Anyway, I just want to make sure that you have set up the directory and file naming convention correctly for MediaSource. Here is what you should do:
    - Launch Creative MediaSource Oragnizer.
    - Go to Tools->Settings->PC Music Library and click Properties. Set your preferred folder and file naming convention. Close the setting page.
    - In the Sources window, click to view PC Music Library.
    - Go to View->Right Panel View and select to view your MP3 player.
    - Transfer the tracks from your MP3 player to MediaSource's PC Music Library by clicking the arrow pointing from right to left.
    - If you have updated the track information of the tracks in your MP3 player, the updated track information will also be imported into the PC Music Library database. However, the tags of the files are not updated. Here is what you need to do. Right click the PC Music Library node in the Sources window or right click on any tracks in the PC Music Library window and select "Update Tag". This will update the tag of all the tracks or the selected tracks with the track information as seen in the PC Music Library.

  • Error transferring Napster songs but not regular m

I have problems tranferring napster downloaded songs(I'm a paid napster to go subscriber) but i can transfer regular mp3 files just fine to my zen micro. The errors i get are as follows:
Napster gives an error of "the device has stop responding"
MediaSource gives a generic transfer error
WindowsMediaPlayer gives a "i/o thread error"
Again, with mediaplayer and mediasource i can transfer just fine a regular mp3.
I am using the lastest firmware and drivers, and XP. Any ideas?
    Thanks

MAJOR KUDOS to DM/GURU! THIS WORKS! (at least for me)
I purchased my Zen Vision: M-- arri'ved yesterday--- wasted no time in Napster to Go (NTG). All seemed well until later when I began receiving error transferring messages on two different (powerhouse video-editing) computers. An additional problem seemed to be Napster freezing up, and Windows Explorer not finding file system. I was up till 4 a.m. trying every solution-- never considered Windows Media Player software as tbe culprit. Just found this advice and gave it a whirl-- downloading all three-- and ALL IS WELL!
Just a note-- when you download the LAST (fix for large data transfer) there are numerous download links-- they all seem to correspond to various languages---<FONT color=#330099> the FIRST one (ending with ENU.exe) is for English.
Just to make it easier to find... The 3 hotfixes from Microsoft which are available are:Windows Media Format 9.5 Runtime: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;8922DRM performance fix:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;902344Fix for large data transfers:http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;89536The first 2 are listed in the FAQ's.. I'm hoping the 3rd makes its way there as well.

  • Problem transferring files from zen to

i recently backed up my computer files on my zen touch because i needed to format my computer, these files were backed up onto my friends system and then transfered onto my zen touch, i recently tried transferring my backed up files back onto my computer but it keeps saying "format cannot be read" or something on the lines of that, is there anything i can do to solve this problem?

Unfortunately I've seen this all too often with the players and will make the warning again to NEVER USE AN MP3 PLAYER AS A SINGLE SOURCE FOR FILES.
Despite this, sometimes upgrading or even downgrading the drivers can increase the stability. Notmad Explorer is more stable than other programs for data, and with Xstreamer, using the free trial, you can access data.

  • Error Transferring Files questi

I purchased a Nano Plus from Craig's list. It is only 4 months old - i was given the receipt. I uploaded several songs that were saved on my hard dri've, burned from CDs. The player worked great. Then i purchased 8 songs from Walmart.com. The first six uploaded fine, but the last 2 had license problems. I emailed Walmart and they got that straightened out. Still, those last 2 will not upload to the player. Everytime i try it says "Error transferring file". These files are wma files, which i read my Nano is supposed to recognize. Even though the first 6 uploaded to the player, when it comes to that song it skips over it. I went to the creative labs website and read their technical advice. It said to delete the PC music library - I did. I then tried to upload a song saved on my hard dri've (an mp3 file) and it again said "error". Their next suggestion is to do a firmware upload which will erase my player. Should I do this? Any idea what is going on? Thanks for any suggestions.
    Shellie

Update, i deleted all the files and it let me put them back on. I put them all into small folders. Now, my problem is, it put ALL the songs on like they worked fine. When the wma format ones that i downloaded from Walmart, com come up, the title shows up on the screen but it skips to the next song. Should i have done something -set something up on the player to accept these? Thanks for your help. I bought this used and the only manual i've got is the online one.

  • When transfering tracks across to ipod a sliding panel appears on the right hand side of itunes. after acknowleadging the transfer the panel does not slide back out of the way to alow another transfer.

When transfering tracks to an ipod a sliding panel appears on the right hand side of itunes. This allows the selected track to be transfered. After registering this action the panel does not slide back out of the way to allow scrolling and more song selection. Any solutions..Help?

I have an even simpler method. I use MyPublisher to print my books. I select their page layout for a two-page spread, drag and drop the image. DONE!  I understand that most people have their favorite places to have work done. I have been extremely pleased with MyPublisher.com, so I haven't even tried the book module in Lightroom.

  • Error During Track Initialization

I created a presentation in Keynote and exported it into iDVD6. I burned the presentation with not problem. Then I had to make a change in the presentation in Keynote and now iDVD won't let me burn any presentations from Keynote. I can burn others like iMovie. So I know my burner works.
    The message is:
There was an error during track initialization and iDVD can't continue burning the DVD. Select "Delete Encoded Assets' from the Advanced-menu and try burning this project again.
I tried deleting the encoded assets, I've tried creating a new presentation and importing it, I tried renaming the presentation - still the same message.
    I'm using Verbatim DVD-R.
    Can anyone help?

    Suggestion:
Drag and drop the plist for keynote as well as iDVD to the trash. Empty the trash and restart your computer. Your computer will make a new default set of preferences for each.
    com.apple.iDvd.plist
    com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist
Hope this helps but if not come on back.

  • Zen V plus "unknown error" while transferring tracks - "Player is busy&qu

I recently bought three players, 2 Zen V players ( and 4 Gbyte) and oner Zen V-plus player. I transferred music to the two Zen V player without problems.
When I try to transfer music to the Zen V-plus player, I can only transfer one or two songs and for the rest of the songs I get the message 'Unknown error'. It seems that the player is busy in transferring data, however, the automatic synchronisation is off (I can see that the player is busy because the display on the player shows dotted lines.....not very technical, but I am no expert....)I already installed the installation CD again. Transferring music to the Zen V players still goes without problem...

Unfortunately, I haven't the player right now. Because of this problem, I bring it back to my retailer sooner this afternoon, it will be send back to Creative. I will recover it later.
But I remember that I can transfert WMA DRM files with Windows Explorer (I think I hadn't any problem with any of them) but by this way, the license is not copied and the player can't read the file.
(And I can copy the 4 problematic files on another USB storage device)

  • Strange error transferring songs to my Zen X

I have a 40GB Nomad Zen Xtra, with firmware .20.08.
Anyway, I can transfer my music just fine most of the time, but occasionally I get a strange error for some of the music, sometimes it can even be for a whole album. The error says,"Error: Unable to download file. This file format is invalid." But the format clearly says .mp3, so it's really confusing. Does anyone know why this is happening because now I'm having some of my favorite stuff held off of my player.

It might be a problem with the tags. Copy the file, use a tagging program to remove the tags from the copied file, then try transferring again.
Failing that make sure to get the latest drivers, firmware, MediaSource and MediaSource plugin from Nomadworld.com downloads.

  • Question regarding transfering tracks from current Zen Micro to new Zen V Pl

Thank You in advance to anyone who can assist me.
I just ordered a new Zen V Plus and will want to get all my tracks on it when it arri'ves. My current player is a Zen Micro 5GB and I've loved it but as of late have been having problems with one of the touch pad buttons and, of course, it's out of warrenty. I just found the Zen V Plus 4GB on sale for $59.99 which I feel is a great price point so I bought one. So regarding the issue of getting my music from the Micro to the V Plus, is there a way to transfer from one to the other or would I have to somehow transfer onto my PC then to the V Plus?
Second question I just thought of, Can I use a memory stick(USB Flash Dri've) to back-up my tracks?
    Thanks again,
    Mark in San Diego

    Hi,
You could transfer the music content of your Zen Micro to your Zen V Plus without transferring it to the PC first. Do the following steps:
. Connect one player at a time in your PC (XP O/S) and make sure that both of the player is detected.
    2. If Windows have detected it, click on the option Open to View Files.
    3. Open up the Music folder of both players.
    4. From there, copy and paste whatever music tracks you would like to transfer from Zen Micro to Zen V Plus.
It's a good idea to have a back up of all your data and you could use a USB Flash dri've to store it all.
    Hope this hel
    ps.

  • Problem transferring tracks from my PC to my Zen To

Rather than going through the rigmarole of contacting customer support I was wondering if anyone here can help me?
I've just purchased the 20GB Zen Touch & I have about 2000 songs I want to put on it. The problem is that it only seems to transfer 0-5 tracks at a time & then stops saying saying either some "other program is busy" not mentioning what this other program is & also no other software is open or that the Zen Touch is busy!
I have spent the whole evening updating firmware, drivers, software etc to no avail. I have tried different USB ports both front & back with no joy. This whole experience is spoiling the enjoyment of a new product has anyone got any ideas?

Probably the most useful thing to do is to determine where the problem lies i.e. the PC or the player. Test the player if you can on a different PC.
There's also a whole bundle of advice via the "PC connection problems with your player" link in the FAQ post, some of which you've tried.

  • MuVo TX 512MB - Error Transferring Fi

I have just bought a MuVo for my daughter.
The first thing I did was a firmware update. I used this one:- MuVoTx_PCFW_LF__2_02e.exe. It took about 4 goes to get the player recognised. But got there in the end.
We are now trying to transfer files onto it. I have a MicroPhoto, so am reasonably competent using Creative Media Source. All went well for a while, then we got error messages saying the file couldn't be transferred. Some of the tracks had transferred, but they 'skipped' during playback. Songs from the same album have been successfully transferred to other players; there is no DRM; we own the original purchased album. In desperation to get these tracks on the player, I have started recording them, converting to mp3 and then transferring, one track at a time. The first 3 tracks were fine, then got the same error message for the 4th track. Also, each track took longer and longer to transfer. I noticed that the playere was a starting to get warm, so disconnnected it, allowed it to cool down and tried again - success!
Can anyone one help with what is happening here? It's getting very frustrating. This is not the ease of use I had expected.
    I li've in England
Thanks in advance.Message Edited by NoAngel on 07-03-2006 03:2 PM

Try to use Explorer instead of any Creative software, its a lot easier and propably works better too.

  • Transferring problems with Zen N

Hi everyone, I have a Zen Nano one GB and just recently it's not letting me put any music on it. I've never had a problem with this before. I use windows media player to put the music on, but I tried Creative Mediasource and they both say "An error has coccured while transferring this file". I'd appreciate the help.

Have all of your files been put in the root folder? If so then see the entry for this in the FAQ.
It can be overcome by putting your files in folders, or by formatting the player with FAT32 using Nano Media Explorer (Initialize button) or Windows Explorer.

  • Problem "There is not enough disk space ..." when transferring tracks back to compu

Hi All,?I am recovering from a massi've hard dri've failure so no lectures about backups for my library please. I am trying to transfer all of my mp3's back from my Zen Xtra 30GB to my computer. I am using Creative MediaSource and it worked for about 800 of them but now has stopped. Now any track will report an error "There is not enough disk space at the destination for this transfer". Checking my disk, I have 6GB of space left, so I am left in the dark as to how to fix this. I can't even get an individual track. Trying to troubleshoot this on my own, I've deleted my temp files but still no luck. Has anyone here has this problem? Better yet, does anyone have a solution? Thanks all!

and now it doesn't. 8GB free and a few more tracks to go.
