Errors trying to export HDV to Camera, DVD-R, DV Cam

New to forum, and been reading thru other posts but haven't found answers to (all) this below, any help?
I have a festival in 2 days and need to get my movie off my mac on to the best possible format, preferably all on one tape (read below):
I'm editing on a 24" imac with Final Cut Pro. I'm trying to output my movie for a festival in two days, but having issues - can anyone help?
1) When I output to my Sony Camcorder HDR-FX1, the movie looks great, just like how I recorded. Problem #1 is movie is nearly 2 hrs long and HDV tapes only go up to 85 mins. Problem #2 - when I play the tapes (recorded from print to video back to the camcorder) direct to a TV or projector, the video looks great - just how I want it. But, when I am doing the print to video when it passes thru the camera to a DVD-R, the blacks flatten and there is a shimmering in the image. It only plays back with the blacks as they should be if I play what I recorded from the camcorder to the dvd-r; if I let the signal pass thru, the black's flatten (in the end, I may have to create a black spot and off to the DVD in two parts)
2) I have a DV Cam deck, but no matter what setting I try, when I try to output the HDV single from FCP thru the firewire, it will only play on the desktop, it won't export to the deck. Any suggestions here, as I can connect the deck directly via firewire and get all 2 hours on there. I am, as I type this, printing to video to the camera, then from svideo to the DV Cam deck, then RCA to a DVd-R for back up. On the camera monitor, image looks great. On the monitor that follows the DVD-R, blacks are slightly flat and shimmering can be seen, esp in scenes that have orange color in them. I am not sure how the DV cam will look until all done in about 100 more mins...
If worst comes to worst, I'll run the showing from the camcorder and do a tape switch 30 mins or so in to the movie, but I'd rather not interrupt the showing, even if brief. I'd rather output from FCP direct to the DV Cam deck, or secondly, the DVD-R.
I can't even record on an LP mini DV on the camcorder, FCP won't export the sequence to Mini DV for some reason, and I have tried many scenerios...
I am also going to try making a quicktime at 720x440 and making a DVD via idvd, hoping the quality holds up. In the past I had made a sample DVD with the 1440x1080 clips and they played great outside of some vertical lines that you could see in some darker spots. But trying to make a DVD since has created that shimmering, and a friend suggested making it 720x440.
Any help on this - getting the best possible looking version of the WHOLE movie on either DV, DV Cam or DVD-R?

Error message when trying to export audio file to DVD

I recorded an interview on a portable voice recorder and transferred the data into Garage Band by connection of a cable connected to the headphone of the device to the speaker input in the Mac. Garage Band took the audio file. It is 1.5 GB. I did some minor editing and wanted to save the file onto a DVD. When I selected "share" to export song to the DVD, an error message came up stating that the file was over 2 GB, which it wasn't. The file was then broken in two and one part was "shared", but the same error message came up. I took the computer to the Apple store for the Genus to help me with, but he had the same problem. The only way that he was able to save the audio file to a DVD was to select the file and place the file on a blank DVD. However, it can only be listened on a computer with Garage Band. I intend to use my voice recorder again to interview people. How can I input the audio file in the Mac and have it saved on a DVD to be played on multiple devices?

Could you please elaborate more about the issue ?What exactly are you trying to perform and how are you trying to do the same?
Are you using Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat to export PDF to excel?
What software version are you using?
Also ,could you please tell what is that error message and it would be wonderful if you could share the screenshot of the error message with us so that we can assist you accordingly .
I would also like to know what OS do you work on ?
Is it happening with all kinds of PDF you are trying to convert or any specific one?

I'm trying to export files from LR3 onto my hard disc (as normal). I've just got the following message. Would really appreciate some help:

Hi Rogerio,
your URL looks fine. I think the issue is with the Body where you have text in-line with the binary content of the file.
To get it working for myself, I broke the body into 3 parts, the header, the file stream and the footer.
I converted the header and footer into byte arrays and then concatenated the 3 parts together as my request stream.
the below is C# code, but hopefully it demonstrates what I'm talking about:

Exporting HDV 1080i to DVD

I tried exporting 1080i video using Quick Time Conversion and setting it to DVCPRO50 - NTSC to create a DVD. The DVD video looks very pixilated and jagged on a Standard Def screen. I tried using compressor and it looks the same. How can I export these videos so that they look right?

Vince,
Try searching for the 'Bonsai' method - gives excellent results from HDV.
Basically you drop your complete HDV sequence onto a DV50 Anamorphic timeline but before you do this set your Video Processing_Motion filtering Quality to Fastest (Linear) - you'll find this tab under sequence settings.
It'll obviously need rendering (although it will render when you export) but you then export to Compressor on your chosen DVD settings - I have a custom setting based on the length of my piece calculated by a bitrate calculator.
This method gives the best results going from HDV to SD and will work with DVCPro HD although you don't have to change the video processing settings, infact don't because it causes fine lines to flicker.

Exporting HDV to a dvd problems

I shot a friends wedding in HDV1080i and edited it in FCP. The footage looks great when viewed in this format, but I am having trouble exporting it to a format that looks good on DVD. If I use quicktime conversion to convert it to H264 720x480 it still looks great, but it is incompatible with DVD studio pro. I have tried exporting using compressor in various formats (DV,NTSC anamorphic,and [email protected]) and all are fairly poor quality by sd standards.
I know an SD DVD is capable of much better results than I am getting, and I know the problem isn't the quality of my source footage. I've spent hours in the manual and looking online for a solution, but have yet to come across it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Better quality means you have more bits. Having more bits mean you will have a larger file. If that's too much to accept, then I don't know what to tell you. You may probably choose to compress that MPEG-2 into MPEG-4 with Bi-frames and 2-pass to shrink the size.

Error trying to export video

I have premiere pro v4.2 Everytime I try to export video to media encoder I get a error message when it is encoding saying "error compiling movie unknown error"
This just started yesterday. If I try to export to Encore using adl it will go thru however the video will not encode in encore. I get a encode filed error. If I open media encoder straight and try encoding the video that way it will go threw so I know there is nothing wrong with the file I am using. I have even tried uninstalling/reinstalling the software to see if that would help. Premiere has also been freezing ALOT today.
Anyone have any idea what the problem is?

FCE-HD Fails when trying to Export MPEG2

I am trying to export mpeg2 files so DVD Studio Pro 1.5 can use them.
However, When I try to export from FCE-HD using quicktime mpeg2 format, it causes the application to fail with the following error.

I want to burn it to DVD. I want to create DVDs with no menu navigation, just play track after track, or one large track consisting of videos mixed-edited in FCE. Don't I have to export my project from FCE to DVDSP to do that? iDVD doesn't seem to give you the option to create a DVD without a menu, except as a lead in track that ends with a menu.

What is the best way to export HDV from Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 ???

Should I even use the compressor route? i want my to export hdv footage to dvd studio pro and burn to dvd. i want to understand the best way so it looks like the original mini hdv tape.
can anyone help that has experience in this area?

you can use compressor to encode your HDV footage.
believe it or not, you can obtain stunning results when you encode and output to DVD.
i guess my only questions to you are:
will you want to output a "HD DVD" or a SD DVD?
how long is your footage?
in what mode did you shoot (720p or 1080i)?
what type of footage, overall, would you say you have (fast action paced, slow action, interviews)?
to be honest with you aaron, there isn't really a setting that is a "set all". compression is both an art and science. additionally, quality of your encoded file can be very subjective!

Exporting HDV footage to web streaming

I'm trying to Export HDV footage to web streaming format but it always ends up stretched to fit the streaming format. any suggestions

i'm with andy. i've been shooting hdv1080i60 for the past few months for web distribution, but a bunch of the sites/video players that i use don't support 16:9, and if i uploaded the video like that, it would get all stretched. my workaround has been to export>QT movie after i'm done editing, and then make a new 4:3 sequence and drop the previously exported quicktime file in it, and then export>using QT conversion at 320x240 with my normal web settings. it makes the video "letterboxed" but it plays undistorted when uploaded to youtube, google video, etc.

How do I export from FCP5 to DVD if I don't have the DVD studio?

I have a FCP 5 and I'm trying to export my movies to DVD without loosing my quality. Have no DVD studio and so I can't compile back the m2v, ac3 and the aiff files together when I export the movie through the compressor. When I tried exporting any other way I got a low quality movie. What can I do?

No need to click self-contained if you don't want to. iDVD will read and compress it for you even as a non self-contained movie.

What does "rendering error -50" mean? I'm trying to export to an apple device (Itunes) and I've done it this way before but now I just get the error message. I'm not very technically savvy.

I had a bunch of video clips which I took on a point and shoot camera. They had been uploaded along with photos to Aperture, but putting the SD card directly into my computer. Every year I take all the clips, edit out the junk, and make a DVD for the kids and grandkids to enjoy. When in final cut, I just clicked on the camera to import from Aperture.
I also make DVD's though out the year of special events, using these same type of video clips taken with the point and shoot. I sometimes do slow motion set to music, etc. I have not had a problem before. And all the bad files came from one trip in October. All the files after it were fine as well. I'm not sure what I did differently for that trip.
The little video clips say DSCN1783 (or some other file number) and are 1920x1080. I try to "share" my project to a Master File on an external drive.

FCPX DVD export to Compressor: error burning disc; video file incompatible for DVD creation

I've been working on a project for months now (feature film) in Final Cut Pro X. Therefor I have done about 20 exports already from within FCPX to Compressor for DVD. Did the same process last night as always.
From within project timeline I go to SHARE -> DVD -> setup a basic menu then select USING COMPRESSOR
Compressor opens. I click submit and after the progress indicator fills up way too fast, I get this error:
"there was an error burning your disc the video file is incompatible for DVD creation"
DVD spits out and that's it. Compressor and FCPX are both still running and haven't crashed but I'm confused. I have burned since the recent 10.0.3 upgrades (and whichever upgrade just came out for Compressor as well) so I can't imagine it's the upgrade.
Any ideas?
I tried making a duplicate of the project and renaming and exporting and had the same results.
At this moment I am trying to export to DVD directly from FCPX with default settings and it has bee "processing" with no movemtn on the progress bar for an hour (it's a 2 hour video so this may not be abnormal).

Yes, it let me create a project. The error came when I tried to save...not save as...also came when I went to build the DVD. It always saves before it begins to build and the same error message came up again. It is a very simple DVD...no menus....just a plug and play. It is a thearter performance that was shot and then edited in Pro and opening titles and credits added. The thought is that the DVD would be put into the player and the timeline begins to play from the opening titles to the end credits...nothing fancy......
