Errors w/ iTunes 7.3 -AppleMobileDeviceSuport.cab & Quicktime.cab Corrupt

Any ideas? This is a fresh install on a PC with no previous iTunes. I deleted my previous version of quicktime and that did not do anything. I also deleted the setup and cleared my temporary internet files and restarted and re-downloaded the program and keep getting the same messages.

I would go through all of the steps at the bottom of this document. One of them should resolve the problem.

  • Error 1418 / Itunes detected an Ipod that may be corrupt / "Autoplay"

I've now spent many hours researching these 3 subjects in the discussion groups and I'm still one of many without a resolution to them. I think I've tried everything to get my 5th generation, 13 month old Ipod loaded with music again but without success.
It all started when my Ipod stopped playing between songs while I just sitting at a table waiting for dinner - no drop, no abuse, no physical harm. I can't remember exactly what I did next but I think I couldn't get it to reset. So, I plugged it in to the computer and tried to restore it.
Restoring it, of course, erased all the music off of the Ipod, but then when it was reseting, a search window titled "Autoplay" appeared in Windows. (now, every time I connect my Ipod to the PC this Autoplay window opens with the little search flashlight)
Itunes then says that it "detected that my Ipod may be corrupt."
I tried to restore a couple times and occasionally get the error message "1418" - that the Ipod cannot be restored.
A couple postings suggested formatting the Ipod drive in My Computer. Unfortunately, when I open My Computer and right click on the removable drive (the ipod) My Computer either stops responding or the little drop down menu appears. But, when I get the drop down window and select format or open, nothing happens. Can't modify "autoplay" settings there.
I've tried fixing/updating/restarting USB drivers, restoring from another PC, updating Itunes and Quicktime software and doing the trick with the appleipod.bat file. Even tried another Ipod cable.
Here's a couple error messages generated from the Diagnostics feature in Itunes (It failed):
[SERVICE: 0x60C,10:28:51 ERROR] Did not find first letter of stage
[SERVICE: 0xFE8,10:29:01 INFO] [1] iPod needs formatting...
    [SERVICE: 0xFE8,10:29:01 ASSERT] Assertion failure: 'rtcTime->isDST != 0' [File: .\DeviceManagement\iPodDevice.cpp, Line: 770]
    [SERVICE: 0xFE8,10:29:01 INFO] [1] *** MOUNT FAILED - Non-FAT32 device, device session 0
[SERVICE: 0x60C,10:34:43 INFO] [1] PHYSICALLY DISCONNECTED!
[SERVICE: 0x5E4,10:35:28 ERROR] device number 0 exists, but isn't in m_objDeviceNumberMap!
just to point out a few.
When the Ipod is disconnected from the PC it appears to be working just fine - but no music, of course. I really don't know what else to try. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. I'm at a dead end.

My ipod also is searching for autoplay and the itunes diagnostics also indicates a problem showing connection status as "failed". However the Network diagnostics indicates the connection is fine and I have downloaded music but can't get podcasts to show up as "sync"-ed under any heading:podcasts, movies, videos, music, etc. I have followed every direction/suggestion/idea I can find and so far, no change...
This is a new ipod for me, but not a new ipod. any ideas?

  • Error 1335 'itunes.cab' is corrupt.

I can't finish the install of the new version of iTunes because of an error 1335. I tried downloading the install package a second time to see if maybe there was just a problem during the download, but no dice. Any ideas?
    --d

Exactly the same problem. error 1335 iTunes.cab is corrupted.
Solution: uninstall Quicktime and delete all the iTunes files that iTunes uninstaller fails to delete.
    1. Control Panel -> Add/remove programs -> Quicktime -> uninstall
    2. Rt click on START and select "Search...". Search for "iTunes". (include advanced: hidden and system files). Delete every file found except the Library ones and the folders.
    3. Shutdown / Restart
    4. Download iTunes 6 again. and Install.
I also downloaded an update to Windows Installer from the microsoft site again, as there was a problem with the version from SP2.
    Good luck

  • Corrupt cabinet file - QuickTime.cab - error code 2350

I've attempted to install itunes many times without success. Each time I get a message "cabinet file Quicktime.cab is corrupt and cannot be used. Error code 2350". The installation process then stops and reverses all changes. I've tried troubleshooting - uninstalling QuickTime, installing script files for XP, deleting temp folders, etc without success. I've even downloaded the original zip file of itunes several times without avail. Any ideas?

I have the same problem. Everytime I try to download ITunes 7.0 I get a Cabinet File Error that says "itunes.cab' file is corrupt and cannot be used. It reads error 2350 and will not let me install the itunes setup. I have also tried to uninstall and retry but have no luck. If you have any luck please email me at [email protected] I am thinking it might be because I still have AOL dialup and maybe need to get cable or DSL. But I am not sure.

  • Itunes stops working and I get an error message "APPCRASH" when I try to play a downloaded TV show. I have udated Itunes and removed and reinstalled quicktime.

When I try to play a downloaded TV show, itunes stops working and I get a error message "APPCRASH". I have updated itunes and removed and reinstalled quicktime.

Open your QuickTime control panel (either via the Control panels, or by going "Edit > Preferences > QuickTime Preferences" in the Quicktime Player). In the Advanced tab, uncheck Enable Direct3D video acceleration:
    ... and click OK.
Quit the QuickTime Player if you have it open. Restart the PC and try watching the videos in iTunes again. Do they play now?

  • Can't play iTunes movie rental because of QuickTime error????

    Dear All,
I just rented and downloaded an HD movie from iTunes ("Despicable Me"), but can't play it, because instead I get the error message: "This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes."
I do have QuickTime (V.10.1) as well as the latest version of iTunes (11.0.4).
How can I solve this supposed incompatibility problem?
Or can I at least get a refund or credit on the unused rental?
    Thank you!!!

When I read your post, I checked my version of QuickTime, and see that it is version 10.2.
Then I noticed you are not running Mountain Lion - you are still on Lion per your post.
I don't know for sure if that's the problem, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.

  • Im trying to use itunes and it keeps saying i need quicktime when downloading it stops install and reports error and to go to windows/installer/quicktime.msi

Im trying to download itunes it says i need quicktime that keeps coming up with error saying to go to c;/windows/installer/quicktime.msi what does this mean

Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATION" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up").
In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC. Now try another QuickTime install. Does it go through properly this time?

    Im really messed up--
    Can someone help!

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • ITunes not installing because of Quicktime problem

I just got a 30 GB iPod for Christmas and installed everything on my old computer at home (5 years old but has Windows XP) and everything worked fine. I am now trying to download and install iTunes on my less than 6 month old laptop and am having no luck. With the iTunes setup it gets to Quicktime and then says something is wrong and it can't go any further. I have tried to download Quicktime separately and I get a "2803" error, then a "2350" error. Please help!

    Have you tried this:
    remove itunes
    remove quicktime
    remove iPod for windows
    remove apple software updater
delete iTunes folder from C:\Program Files
delete quicktime folder form C:\program files
delete ipod folder from C:\Program files
delete apple software updater folder form C:\program files
delete quicktime and quicktimeVR from C:\windows\system 32
    delete documents and settings\<user name>\application data\apple computer\
    delete documents and settings\all users\application data\ apple computer\
run a search for "quicktime" deleted all files bearing that name.
ran installer clean up (you can get that from (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301)
    delete c:\documents and settings\<user name>\local settings\temp
    clear temp internet folder
clear C:\windows\temp (Note: Don't delete the folder itself just everything in it)
    restart computer
    run QuicktimeInstaller.exe from desktop
    verify that quicktime is opening
    quicktime opens?
    If so:
    install iTunesSetup.exe from desktop
    Verify that iTunes opens?
If you get a corrupt .cab file then the above should fix it. If it still won't open I'd suggest doing an MSCONFIG and then repeating the steps. MSCONFIG can be found here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538

  • Programming error in iTunes 7.1

Today when I tried to updates my iTunes software to the newest version, 7.1, I kept on getting an error message while it was copying new files during the installation process. This error message read:
The cabinet file "QuickTime.cab" required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
I have tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it, but I stil get this error message during the installation process. If you are having this same problem or know how to correct it, please reply to this post.
HP Media Center f1905   Windows XP

I have tried that already, as well, and it did not work. However, the error message now tells me that the cabinet file "iTunes.cab" (rather than "QuickTime.cab" as it did before) required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, and error from reading the CD-ROM, or a problem with the package.

  • Quicktime.cab

Ok so whether I am trying to install iTunes or Quicktime the same thing comes up and it reads:
The cabinet file 'Quicktime.cab' required for the installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
Then you get the option to Abort, Retry, or Ignore, if you click retry this message will just keep popping up. but if you click ignore or abort you get this message:
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2350.
This then causes the installer to backtrack and replace everything as it was and when it's done it reads:
The installation of Quicktime did not complete successfully. iTunes requires Quicktime.
Please Help me I just got this iPod and I need to install iTunes in oreder for it to work so please help.

You may find more answers in the iPod for Windows Discussions pages.
The error is probably permissions related.

my itunes has gotten error 7 (windows error 14001) itunes wont even open it just says itunes was not installed correctly. someone help please

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) (not for XP) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Have you tried uninstalling Quicktime? If not try that. If you are still having problems then do this.
    1. Uninstall both iTunes and Quicktime.
    2. Delete the folders iTunes and Quicktime where installed in.
    3. Reboot.
    4. Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<<Your User ID>>\Application Data\Apple Computer\
    5. Delete C:\Documents and Settings\<<Your User ID>>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer
    6. Delete if in your My Documents folder there is a folder called My Music with a folder in it called iTunes. Delete or rename the iTunes folder.
    7. Reboot.
    8. Turn off all anti virus and firewall software.
    9. Re-install iTuens.
If you still get an error after that your Windows install is hosed. You will need to format and re-install it first.
