Errors with System Recovery

I have a HP Pavilion, with Windows Vista and kept getting Blue Screen Errors so started to do a System Recovery, did the backup cd's and they seem to work okay (4 discs) then when if finished the Recovery and restarted it said to contact HP configurations were not correct.....Help any ideas? Thank you!

Hi there, thank you, I did run the tests and it said everything was fine (I did this before I actually started the Recovery) and I did try to use the Recovery Discs that I had made in 2008 but I got an error saying they would not work.  I had bought my computer at Costco and it already had everything installed and it did not come with Windows Vista CD's or Office so if I went to buy a new hard drive would I need to purchase all of those programs again or could I use my back up CD's I made before the intstall?  Thank you for your help, I feel so lost and feel like I have spent so much time on this!!!

  • Problem with system recovery for a new hard drive in my Pavilion p6210y Windows 7 Premium 64bit

       I decided to swap out  my hard drive when my computer would fail to start up or crash right after starting. Diagnostic tool at startup said the hard drive was faulty and other times I would get BIOHD-1 and BIOHD-2 errors. I replaced the old WD Caviar Blue 640GB with a new Caviar Green 1TB. I ordered and received from HP a system recovery disc set which included five discs labeled:
    Use This First! System Recovery,
    System Recovery 1:1,
    SYstem Recovery 1:3,
    System Recovery 2:3, and
    System Recovery 3:3.
       After putting in the new hard drive I used the "Use This First!" disc and everything seemed to be going fine. The scene showed "Loading Windows" or something like that. After about 10 minutes the CD drive opened and the Monitor showed three images: a big green check mark which I assume meant everything was good up to that point; a graphic showing the removal of the first disc; and a graphic showing three discs to be put in. Wondering whether to put in the System Recovery 1:1 disc or the System Recovery 1:3 disc, I noticed that the drive bay closed with the "Use This First" disc still in. I managed to get the Drive to open after pressing the open button quite a few times. I closed it with the 1:3 disc and nothing happened (no light showing activity in the DVD drive). After a minute or so I managed to get the drive open again after quite a few times pressing the open button. I put in the 1:1 disc and still nothing. At this point I could only open the drive bay with a paper clip in the release hole. With the computer unresponsive and the monitor still showing the same as when the first disc came out, I decided to turn it off with the "Use this First!" disc in the drive hoping to start from the beginning again. Now the directions that came with the HP System Recovery discs state:
       CAUTION: Do not turn off the computer, or use the keyboard or mouse during this time. Doing so will interrupt or damage the software installation.
       Now when I turn the power on I get either:
     the HP blue screen with the green hand, (F11=system recovery), (F9=Diagnostics), (F10=Setup) and (ESC=Boot Menu). pressing esc, F9, F10 or F11 does nothing.
    Or the HP blue screen appears and then almost immediately goes to the black screen with " Reboot and select proper boot device or insert Boot media in select Boot device and press a key". I've gotten this scene while trying almost every System Recovery disc in the drive. Hitting a key does nothing other than repeating the same message.
    Once I got a "The file is corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computer checksum" error. That appeared only once in about 30 try's.
       The open DVD drive button works sometimes and not other times. I can't seem to figure out a pattern for when it will work.
       I don't know whether I might have accidentally moved the mouse or hit the keyboard during the first attempt. Can I  do something to the new hard drive to get it back to a state where it can start from the beginning again? Might it be a problem other than the old hard drive. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Yes, of course! See the link to your model's spec above.
    My apologies. The previous link went to a spec for the Satellite A505-S6960 (which came with Windows Vista installed). I had too many spec pages open at the same time and got them mixed.
    So, are you telling me that I won't get this one to work?(the BPKT)
    No. But you may face the problems that I outlined in this message.

  • Help with system recovery

    Dear all, I have a HP G71-343 laptop running Windows 7 64 bit. The hard drive was broken. I bought a new hard drive and boot from DVD rom to recover system using recovery DVD disk. However, before the installation start, I got a message said:
    "recoverymgr.exe application error. The instruction at OX400e764f referenced memory at OX00000000. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program.. "
    I tried different new hard drive but always got the same message and the installtion failed. Does anyone know what is the message mean and how to solve this problem? Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
    Assuming this is just a problem with the recovery media, here's an alternative option you could try.
    Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
    An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
    You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook - this is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source - Digital River.
    Windows 7 Images.
    Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

  • 0X4001100200001012 error with windows recovery disk

    For quite some time (over a year), I've been seeing chat about this error when attempting to make recovery disks on Dell machines. Basically, a recovery disk made in windows 7 starts to boot, when tested, but then gets to what looks like the blue background
    for a normal startup screen and shows an error code  0X4001100200001012 error.
    Invariably, someone trots out advice about burning disks slower or running a file error check. Neither of these work. Some believe that the error has something to do with the Dell recover partition that all Dells ship with.
    If one boots with the windows 7 install disk, all goes well, and one can recover an image file, so it is definitely some sort of error introduced at the windows 7 recover disk creation process.
    I have seen this problem with 2, different model, Dells. An HP does not have the problem. Its recovery disks work fine. All three machines are running different versions of windows 7 64.
    Do you have any insights into what is causing this error, and whether it can be remedies or if Dell owners just have to live with it? Calling Dell technical support is...well, lets just say that life is too short.

    Hi,
    According to your description, it indicates you have a problem with your recovery disk. It may be caused by recover disk creation process.
    You could refer to the similar thread; maybe they can give you some hits:

  • Lenovo G580 - WIndows 8 - Resizing OS partition & problems with system recovery

    Hello Everybody,
    Just bought a Lenovo G580 notebook with pre installed Windows 8 (500gb harddisk, 4 gb RAM, Intel B960).I have been using Easeus partition manager with Windows 7 & its been working very well.So I wanted to partition my new HDD with it.Upon creating the a new 100gb partition (most importantly from OS partition that was about 428 gb) a very strange thing happened.The Refresh/Reset functions of WIndows 8 stopped working saying required recovery files are missing, also Lenovo One Key recovery program does not work with the message that required service partition is currently unavailable.At the same time, apparently  partition called Windows recovery  (1000 mb, hidden) still exists.One more peculiar thing I noticed & that is there is a new 1mb unallocated partition before the Windows recovery partition.While partitioning I did not receive any message about deleting of any data.One last piece of information (not sure if relevant) is before doing partition I had created a system image that I am unable to restore, Windows 8 repair function recognises the image bit is unable to restore it.
    Any ideas how to restore the System Recovery functions or how to restore the system image.
    Thanks
    Petr

It got to 48% and I got a error message. error 0x400100200001005 I tried to recover twice. Now the files are gone from the HD and the recovery disk won't go through. I tried the Kapersky recovery but no help there...Any advice, I thought about upgrading to windows 7 64 bit. PLEASE HELP....Thanks in advance. Cmax
    Hello cwmax2000, Here  is a link that may have some useful information.
    If you wanted to use Windows 7 x64, you would be required to perform a fresh, clean install. You could not upgrade to Windows 7 x64.
    You might go to this Microsoft  Link  and download the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, and see if your system and applications would support Windows 7 x64.

  • Newport ESP 300 error with Signal Recovery 7280 DSP

    We bought a new lock-in amplifier (Signal Recovery 7280 DSP) for higher frequency to replace our older version (Signal Recovery 7265 DSP). There are not a lot need to be modified in our labview program since the commands are the same for 7280 and 7265.
    But the error then came up. The ESP 300 always beeps to show there are some error. But I can not find out why.
    Here is how we use these two devices:
    Step 1. Computer read signal from 7280 DSP lock-in amplifier.
    Step 2. Computer controls ESP 300 to move a certain step size of a linear stage.
    Step 3. Determining whether linear stage finish the step motion or not (use command MD?). If yes, then go back to Step 1 (read signal for each step stage moves). If not, determine again until the motion is finished.
    When I do highlight execution, I can see sometimes it took longer time for the step 3 to finish. And when this happened, ESP 300 would beep. The step size I was doing is very small so it should finish in a very short time. And, when I use Signal Recovery 7265 lock-in, never had this problem.
    Need to be point out is before this loop from step 1-3. I had stage move to initial position, which normally need long time to move, where I also use the same commands for determining whether stage finished moving (MD?). And there are never errors or beeps.
    So, I do not know where the problem comes from, seems it is the combination between lock-in and ESP 300.
    Is there anyone can help me with this problem? Really appreciate it. I bothers me so much.
    Thank you.

  • Help needed with system recovery Satellite L300-149

    Hi
    We have a Satellite L300-149.
    Was running really slowly so wanted to reset it to factory settings.
    Did the 'press F12 when starting, put disk in' etc etc BUT have a horrible feeling that I put a disk in that actually belonged to a different Toshiba we used to use a U300.
    The 'give away' was that the user manual for the U300 is now on the desktop on the Satellite :-/
    I hoped that this wouldn't be a major problem BUT the F8 key has now disappeared making it impossible to connect to the internet.
    I looked online and read that the L300 sometimes doesn't come with a disk as the info is kept on a separate part of the hard drive so hoped I could reset it back to factory settings again but when I click F2 on start up and go to the option to restore it, noting happens.
    Can anyone please help??????

    Hi
    Forget the HDD recovery now
    You have recovered the system using another disk and this has deleted the HDD recovery image files. So this option is NOT possible!
    You are right the L300 and all other notebooks are not delivered with Recovery disks.
    The recovery disk has to be created using the preinstalled software called Recovery Disk Creator. But this is also NOT possible because you removed the preinstalled system and the files which are needed for such recovery disk are not available anymore!
    But if everything work properly except of the WLan FN + F8 key, then I would recommend to install only the Wlan driver. I think the key does not work because the right WLan driver is not installed.
    I think the Satellite L300-149 supports the Wlan Realtek RTL8187B chip.
    So install the right Wlan driver which you can find here:

  • Error with System.loadLibrary("msvcr80");

    Hi,
    I am trying to test a library somebody wrote and that library is using msvcr80.dll
    So in my little java test program goes like this:
    try {
         System.loadLibrary("advapi32");
         System.loadLibrary("msvcr80");
         // code removed for simplicity
    } catch (UnsatisfiedLinkError e) {
         System.err.println("Library failed to load.\n" + e);
    }But I always get an exception when trying to load msvcr80:

    An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
    Please contact the application's support team for more information.
    What's the problem? The DLL can be found no problem (it's in the path pointed by java.library.path) but cannot be loaded. Is there another DLL that needs to be loaded beforehand besides advapi32?
    Thanks.

    Symbul wrote:
    Hi,
    Yes I know winsxs is not in the PATH, but I put it there just for test purposes. By the way I get the same C runtime javaw.exe error when I try to load ANY library that has a dependency on MSVCR80 (even microsoft DLLs, 3rd party JNI, etc.) and I'm not the only one in the office that has the problem either. Using Process Explorer I can see all the DLLs (every location) that are load by each applications and there is only one that's in memory and it's the correct one, so I'm quite puzzled as what could be wrong here.
    1. This is a JNI forum which this obviously is about.
    2. Please tell us what the problem is rather than asking why your solution doesn't work.
    3. Post the actual exception.
    4. And verify that you are NOT using windows 7, nor any 64 bit VM.
    Normally the MSVCR80 dll would be loaded dynamically by the OS when the reference of some other library requested it. In this case the most likely reason is because the dependent library (or some other) is not in the shared library path.

  • Error with Product Recovery. Now won't boot. Satellite Pro A40

    Hello,
    I tried to use my product recovery cd to reinstall windows so that the computer would be back to an 'as new' state. However, when using disk one and at about 25% progress it crashed on me saying it couldn't read the disk. Now when i attempt to boot it says 'Please Insert System Disk and press any key' i do so but i just get the same message repeated. It does this is if i try to book from the hardrive or the cd.
    Whats my next step, how can i get my computer back!?
    Cheers

    Hmmm its not easy to say why you couldnt finish the installation. For me it looks like the Recovery CD would be faulty.
    Anyway, the message says that no OS was found on the HDD and the notebook cannot boot up!
    So what to do I think you should insert an original Windows XP CD and try to boot from the CD. The XP CD should format the HDD and should install the new OS.
    Sorry, but I dont see other possibility.

    Dear All,
    Who used to convert Physical Machine to Virtual Machine with Window 2008R2 has EFI System partition?
    I don't know whether Oracle VM support Window has MBR, UEFI, EFI, MSR,.... or not.
    Please kindly shared experience about that.
    Thanks and regards,

    I haven't tried what you're asking about using p2v but I have had success Ghosting a physical machine and then ghosting it back down into a virtual guest. Its been a while since I've done it but it works for me most of the time. Might be a viable alternative if you're having issues with p2v.

  • Error with System.loadLibrary(...) with java.library.path set

    I'm trying to get my feet wet with JavaMonkeyEngine using netbeans (on Windows XP SP3, Java 1.6).
    When I try to run a simple example program, I'm getting
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no lwjgl.dll in java.library.path
    at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadLibrary(ClassLoader.java:1709)
    My runtime arguments include: -Djava.library.path="../../../../../projectSupport/jME2/lib/lib/lwjgl/native/windows/:etc
    I'm pretty sure that the path is correct, because I tried the following code:
    String [] dirs = System.getProperties().getProperty("java.library.path").split(":");
    for(int i = 0; i < dirs.length; i++ ){
    String path = dirs[i] + java.io.File.separatorChar + "lwjgl.dll";
    if( (new java.io.File(path)).exists()) {
    System.out.println("found in dir " + dirs);
    path = (new java.io.File(path)).getAbsolutePath();
    System.load(path);
    System.out.println("was able to load library manually");
    and the System.load method was reached and didn't throw an exception.
    However, the below call does throw an exception.
    System.loadLibrary("lwjgl.dll");
    Presumably, I shouldn't need to put the dlls into my Path (otherwise whats the purpose of the -D argument).
    I would appreciate some brilliant illuminating thought about now, something like "you forgot the magical snafu parameter" or such.
    Thanks in advance.
    Eric.

    My runtime arguments include:
    -Djava.library.path="../../../../../projectSupport/jME2/lib/lib/lwjgl/native/windows/:{code}So, you're on a Windows OS, and looking for a Windows DLL?
    I'm pretty sure that the path is correct, because I tried the following code:
    {code}String [] dirs = System.getProperties().getProperty("java.library.path").split(":");{code}So, you're specifying a path using the UNIX separator ':', instead of the Windows one ';'?
    Your test code has the knowledge to parse a LINUX-like path, but the Windows VM doesn't have this knowledge (I admit the misleading part is that the VM generally accepts '/' as a file separator (instead of the Windows-standard '\' one), but doesn't recognize the ':' separator).
