Illustrator Crashes with this error:

The specified module could not be found. C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\4.0.1\VersionCue.DLL
Windows Vista 64 SP1
Existing Applications prior to Web Premium:
* InDesign CS4 stand alone
* Adobe Creative Suite 1 Premium
Tried running in XP compatibility, never gets past load screen
Tried running as Administrator, same error
Tried running updates: 5 of the 8 available CS4 updated failed to install (none appeared to be associated with Illustrator, however).
Anyone else encounter this or know of a solution?
Dont' know why the error lists "Dummy: Illustrator.exe" nor why it is looking for version 4.0.1 of the VersionCue.dll. I located version 4.0.0 in a slightly different directory path.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\VersionCue.DLL
I may try moving a copy into the expected location and see if that allows a launch.
-mtThe root cause of this issue has finally been identified. This issue, cause, and solution are documented here:
http://www.adobe.com/go/kb408524
Please note that if a previous update failed due to the root cause, then it can leave your files in a state which will prevent future updates from working, simply because they don't find the files in the expected state. In which case, you need to do the complete solution, which involves a clean re-install (sorrry :-(

AI File Causing Fatal Application Exit
I was initially getting error 147-1 after opening a large AI file in illustrator. I restarted as prompted and continued to get it. I restarted a few times and eventually the error subsided and the file opened.
However, when I go to save the file, an "illustrator.exe - fatal application exit" occurs. I am getting the following message:
'The specified module could not be found. C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Adobe Version Cue CS4\Client\4.0.0\VersionCueUI.DLL'
I have come to the forums because Adobe's chat and phone lines proved to be more frustrating than helpful. In fact, their advice after I refused to reinstall or start a new file was to 'go to the forums' because their troubleshooting guides do not support CS4...
Someone, please help me! I can take a huge step back and re-edit a previous version, but I'd be wasting hours of work. Fortunately, it only seems to be a corrupted file of sorts versus an application issue.
Thanks

I have been trying to operate Labview as a DDE server so that another application can conneect to it.
(1) I don't understand how you access data that is provided to Labview by the client
(2) Is the data that is set in the set block the data that is accessed by using the topic string?
I have been through the examples and documentation and i didnt find an answer for question 1. With question 2 i am just looking for confirmation on how the client accesses the data because i havent actually got it to work yet. DDE is the only method that i am aware of with the program that i am using as the client.
Thanks,
TomHi Tom,
Here is some example code that shows how to use DDE to read and write to an Excel spreadsheet. Perhaps it will give you a good starting point. Also, as Mike said, if you can use OPC you may want to consider it.
Good luck!

DDE Server Window: QuicktimePlayer.exe - Application Error
Good evening,
I bought an Iphone 4. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to install Itunes and Quicktime. Unfortunately, after the complete installation I have this error message... DDE Server Window: QuicktimePlayer.exe - Application Error
I tried to uninstall everything, no result. I tried to change session, the 2 other administrators have the same error message. I cannot run any Apple application (Quicktime, Itunes, Safary).
My computer technician told me that is is a Windows problem and I have to reformat and start everything over.... How can I avoid this??? Please help.Strange. You see DDE errors associated with Safari every now and then (when opening email links), but it's very odd to see them feature as part of start-up errors for iTunes, Safari and QuickTime.
Let's try a few measures relating to fixing Windows operating system problems that don't involve a complete windows reinstall.
First, check to see that your Microsoft .NET framework is up-to-date and functioning properly, as per:
[iTunes for Windows: "iTunes was not installed properly. Please reinstall iTunes" message|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3074]
Does that help with the start-up errors?
If not, perhaps try an sfc /scannow as per:
http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html
Does that help at all? -
DDE server window; itune.exe-application error
Can t open itune: DDe server window: itune.exe-application error. Then, instruction at 0x6d561040 memory could not be read. P.S.: the code change every time i click ok.
I do not know the answer to this, but if you are willing to to do some troubleshooting:
Which version of windows are you using?
XP vista or 7, 64 bit or 32 bit.
Do you have Quicktime? If so does Quicktime launch?
Did you change anything on your computer just before this problem started?
Please look in the Event viewer for a helpful error message.
To open the event viewer:
Control Panel>>Administrative Tools>>Event Viewer
Or type Event Viewer into the search box.
Then select Windows Logs>>Application
Open the Event viewer immediately after iTunes crashes.
The error message should be at or near the top.
Double click on it to open more information and press copy.
Paste the result into your post.

DDE Server Window Error Exiting InDesign 7.5.1 (CS 5.5)
I just installed CS 5.5 on an XP SP3 PC. We previously used CS2. I had the user open files created under CS2 InDesign in the new CS 5.5 InDesign. The files opened and displayed with no issues in InDesign. However, when she exits InDesign she gets a DDE Server Windows error dialog box.
DDE Server Window: InDesign.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x#####b##" referenced memory at "0x###d#f##". The memory could not be "read".
I ran all updates for InDesign and it shows as version 7.5.1.
I saw a post in the PhotoShop forums of the same type of DDE error if you open a file and exit without saving, but it does not matter if I save the file or do not save the file. I still get the DDE error when exiting InDesign.
Any ideas on how to resolve the error?
Thanks,
Rickof course, missing links! Dóh!
2 weeks ago we upgraded 3 of 8 PC from CS4 to 5.5.
All 3 PC´shave the same issue with the same files. the other 5 computers are working still with CS4, without a problem on the same file!
adobe often causes different problem in the company, so we know about the Adobe cleaner tool.
I have deinstalled cs4, run the cleaner tool and then installed cs5.5. I hope i dont have to reinstall again...
I dont work myself with Adobe products, but i have to troubleshoot, which is not easy if you dont know how it works... -
DDE Server error when exiting CS5
Hi,
I'm running CS5 with the latest patch applied. Sometimesn when I exit PS, I get the following error:
DDE Server Windows Photoshop.exe Application error. The instruction at 0xhhhhhhhh referred to memory at 0xhhhhhhhh.The memory could not be "read". Click ok to terminate the program.
This one is not new : I have seen similar reports from 2005.
I have never written any PS plugin and I'm not familiar with the plugin SDK but could it be that PS communicates with plugins through DDE messages (which is a very old and unreliable technology)?
Any idea?
Thanks in advance.OK, because I don't want to mislead anyone, I took a bit more time. I had forgotten I have Photoshop CS5 installed on a Windows 7 virtual machine with absolutely no 3rd party plugins installed.
I took the time to boot up that virtual machine and on that virtual machine I found that this window exists before ever starting Photoshop:
However, upon starting Photoshop CS5 (into which no plugins have ever been installed) this additional window was created (the one above stayed around as well).
What I don't know is whether this window is somehow a byproduct of my environment or was created by Photoshop.
I have several programs to enhance my desktop environment: Classic Shell (Classic Explorer component only) and ShellFolderFix (an Explorer window placement tool). I'm going to see if I can bring up a very minimal system without these and determine whether the above windows still exist.

Hi,
I have Photoshop CS2 9.0 version installed on my PC with patch 9.02. I have a VB application which runs certain action files on EPS/TIF images using Photoshop typelibrary.tlb.The issue is that the VB application hangs when Photoshop crashes with the following error:
"Faulting application Photoshop.exe, version 9.0.2.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.4455, fault address 0x0001bd02"
I also get several other errors when i call Photoshop in my VB application. Those are as mentioned below:
1. The referenced memory could not be read.
2. The remote server machine does not exist or not available.
There is no particular pattern for above mentioned errors. I could not find any help in any of the forums.
I have attached the screenshot of these errors.
Pls advice.
Thanks in advance,
Shobha PatilI to have been getting this error, randomly when I exit the program. Not sure what to make of it google has come up empty for me.

Hi,
I get this error randomly when i run my VB 6.0 application which calls Photoshop CS2 actions. I went through many forums, but could not manage to get the right solution for this.
"The application, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Photoshop.exe, generated an application error The error occurred on 10/01/2009 @ 11:31:59.964 The exception generated was c0000005 at address 7C81BD02 (ntdll!ExpInterlockedPopEntrySListFault)

ANy help on this will be highly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
SmileyI see this sort of error notice in Bridge and Photoshop, preceded by the message " Photoshop (or Bridge) has encountered a problem and must close. Tell MS.
Yes or No."
It most frequently happens in PS when running Dfine 2.0. I have no clue what triggers the Bridge closure. It happens randomly.
CS3, so nobody gives a tinkers dam, I suppose.
I see this kind of message in software testing on a regular basis. Of course, when the test is under way, the software is generating a detailed log file which we package up as part of a bug report. Then at the bug scrubs, lively discussions ensue as to who has to fix what!
I can only image what would happen if the Dfine people and the PS people had to sit through one of those! -
Hi
I have tried to research these problems I am getting, but have not been able to resolve them.
1st is the above DDE Server Windows iTunes.exe - entry point not found.
This only occurs when I try to start iTunes.
if I click ok , several times, iTunes will start but slowly.
If at any time I have to reboot my computer I get
iTunesHelper.exe - the procedure entry point asl_add_log_file could not be located in the dynamic link library ASL.dll
if I click 3 times OK it goes away.
To this end I have uninstalled iTunes and rebooted my machine then gone to iTunes web site and downloaded the latest version.
Installing it but still get the same errors on reboot and trying to run iTunes
Anyone any ideas please.
I have a self build PC it has an Intel core 2 quad Q6000 @ 2.40GHz
Ram 4.00GB
32bit OS
Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Firewall - Zonealarm
Virus - Zonealarm
Thanks in advance

Message was edited by: YbslikTaken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)

Adobe Reader 9.1 - Fatal Error : Acrobat failed to connect a DDE server
Hi Everyone,
I have some users telling me that when they try to open a pdf attachment in Outlook 2007. Nothing happens. The system just sits there as if you did not click on the attachment. If you wait long enought a popup box from adobe reader comes up and says:
Fatal Error
Acrobat failed to connect a DDE server.
All the PDFs are very simple, just simple scanned images or converted over from a document into a PDF.
I've tried repairing the install and still had no luck - same behaviour. The only way the pdf opens is if we go into task manager and close the AcroRd32.exe process or logoff and log back in.
If it helps, the most recent system change was the upgrade to IE7 and a new anti-virus software.
Thanks,
KEvinNo solution I am afraid but same problem, running full version of AVG and problem hit immediately after Adobe Reader 9.1 upgrade. Pretty darn sure problem is in the upgrade but the relevant Restore Point was overwritten before I figured it out. Any advice welcome.

Adobe Reader XI - Fatal Error Acrobat failed connect DDE Server
Hallo zusammen.
Mein System ist:
Windows XP SP3
Adobe Reader XI (11.0.3)
Outlook 2010
Exchange 2010
Antivirus: Avast Endpoint Protection Suite Plus
Fatal Error
Acrobat failed to connect to a DDE server.
