ES2 and EXS24 presets

The ES2 and EXS24 factory settings are full of presets with names like "digital motion", "multi sequence", "sequence elements", "vector rhythm" and so on. I haven't managed to find any explanation or guide to what these settings actually achieve, how best to use them and so on (and I wish I had the time to sit and try to figure it out for myself!). Can anyone help with any guides, tutorials (online or otherwise)?

There are simply categorisations based on sound types, or synthesis techniques used.
Digital Motion for example uses digital sounding waves with motion in them - motion being obvious modulations, often things like sweeping or modulated waves and so on.
Vector Rythm as another example are patches that use the vector capabilities of the ES2 to create rhythmic-type sounds.
The way to get familair with the instruments is to go through the tutorials in the manual, and understand the various features, how they can be used, and start programming your own sounds.
But the bottom line is they are just ways to categories sounds - at a simple level you can ignore them and just flip through to find sounds that inspire you.

Need help with ES2 and MIDI sync!

I am in a hurry and need to do the final mix of a Logic Pro project where I am using ES2 with the patch 002 Reanimation (which is in the group 10 Gated Synth in the pull down menu of presets in ES2. - My problem: Before upgrading LogicPro to 9.1.4, the synth patch Reanimation played in sync with the tempo in my Logic project (which is 130 bpm). After the upgrade, when the ES2 patch plays out of sync (the Reanimation patch is arpeggiated, and it now plays with a different tempo than before). - I can't figure out how to solve this problem, so any help is very welcome. Which setting (button) in ES2 and/or Logic Pro Preferences menu should I change to make the ES2 play in sync with the tempo 130 bpm?
For your info: I loaded a backup version of my Logic Project from April (before I updatet Logic Pro), but the patch has the same problem. This makes me think that the problem must be in the Logic Pro Preferences. But where???

I often have a recurrinig message to send, after a repeating event, and need to enter the same short message each time. It would be nice to have this short message stored and selectable so that I do not need to enter each time.

You would need to first create the form ( or Widget in EchoSign) first to generate a url which you can paste it in the email being sent to customers. You would need to make sure you have a Document Cloud Enterprise Premium account in order to create a Widget. If you don't have the account, you can use the trial version to test it. THIRD PARTY PLUG INS AND TRANSITION PRESETS!

i'm looking to purchase some sort of thrid party plug in that contains mainly if not only transitions and transition presets. i'm looking specifically for the final cut equivalent of the swish pan which is a popular avid transition. does anyone have any links to purchase something like this?

There was an editor in NYC back in the film days-- whenever dailies came in, he'd screen, pull out all the swish pans, camera start/stop flashes etc-- BEFORE the client showed up. Assistant pulled the corresponding negative in a back room.
Whenever a spot was needing something special, he'd dig into a box or two of "special effects" often selling a client a chunk of their own dailies.
That amused me no end. Still does.

Saving Sequence and Effects Presets that go with the project itself

Hi, please be gentle as I'm a newbie to the site.
I have been asked to create several master Premiere Pro projects in CC (templates if you like) that will be being sent to quite a few ops worldwide, many of whom are completely new to the Adobe Platform, so I would like to keep things as simple as I can for them.
Is it possible to create sequence presets and a few effects presets that actually go with the project. At the moment when I've tried opening projects on another machine with a different user account, it overwrites everything with their presets and I can't find anything to stop that from happening. I'm assuming it's to do with sync settings.
However, is there a function to allow premiere pro to open the project with the project's last settings (sequence and effects presets) rather than default to the user prefs? As an aside, I'm not interested in workspace or keyboard shortcuts - that's down to them!
If it's not possible, is there a very simple step-by-step workflow I can use? But I'd really like to avoid trying to explain how to install sequence and effect presets to loads of different ops if I can!!
Finally (wrong forum I know) but I need to do exactly the same thing with the assocated After Effects master template projects, so any help on that would be gratefully received too.

Welcome to the forum!
When it comes to effects presets, you should be able to right-click on the Presets in the Effects bin and Export Presets...
The ops can then import the presets using the same method (right-click on the presets in the effects bin and choose Import Presets...)
For sequence presets, I can't find a way to do it within the software. Someone else will probably have to help you find it, but I'm certain there is a file somewhere in your computer that stores all of your Sequence Presets, so it would be a matter of finding and sharing that file with the ops, and then telling them where to put that file.

With this post I would like to ask a question regarding locking certain features in Indesign.
Does anyone know if it is possible to ...
- lock PDF export and print presets so a user is not abble to change/override any preset properties, and is forced to use a preset without the possibility to override any of the properties when using it?
- force a user to use one of the predefinied presets to print or export a document without the ability to create a new preset?
- verify PDF-files to check what Indesign print/export preset was used?
Being part of a larger prepress team, we would like to make sure that, every PDF-file created by each team member, is created with the same specs.
Does anyone know of any plugin, tool or release that enables such a functionality?

If the employees cannot follow company policy, they need to know that there are other people looking for work who can. Yes, mistakes happen, but that would be a case of choosing the wrong preset from a list (which, if you leave more than one installed, can't be avioded). Changing settings against policy is not a mistake.

How to configure and save presets for custom scanning?

There are 5 presets in Acrobat XI for scanning files: "Autodetect...", "Black &White...", "Grayscale...", "Color Doc...", and "Color Image".
There is also an option to to do a "Custom Scan..." and "Configure Presets" (modify the 5 above).
However, I could not find any way to create my own custom presets.. is that not possible?
I was hoping to at least save my configuration(and/or possibly create a few different custom scan templates) in the Custom Scan for future scans but that was also not an option.
I would gladly use the 5 presets and configure them to how I want them but its unfortunate there are no output options there to automatically append a scan to an existing file or create multiple files from a continuous scan.
So... 1) Can you create custom presets for scanning? 2) Is there a way to configure output options in the existing scan presets? Thanks!

you have to set all activities in the workflow to "general task" as well, not only for WS12300111 itself (doubleclick on each symbol with the "triangle").
check the status of the sent leave request in transaction PTARQ (Display Documents). Here the "next agent" & the "pers. no" of the next agent is of interest.
logon with the user, that is saved in infotype 0105 of the above mentioned pers.no. there should be the approve request.
you can check the status of the workitems with SWI1 (i assume your system is prepared for workflows , check SWU3)

Premiere elements 7 and project presets

Hi,
I have a question regarding quality of edited video and project presets. I use a Panasonic HDS-9 AVCHD camcorder which is set to record at the XA 1920 x 1080 full HD mode. Once the mt2 files are in Premiere I have tried two of the project presets. Full HD 1920 x 1080 5.1 Channel (PAL) and HD 1440 x 1080 5.1 Channel (PAL). I have burnt to folder and then used DVD shrink (no compression settings used) to package it into an iso file so I can use the file with menus on my Freecom media player which attaches to my Panasonic HD ready TV using component jacks. What I have found is that the HD 1440 x 1080 preset appears to produce very slightly better quality. I was not able to explain what the exact difference was until my 7 year old son described the difference as being 'one of them looks more shiny'. What I think is happening is that anything that has movement, however slight, is creating very marginal screen smear which makes that part of the screen seem less clear. It is not bad and had I not tried the 1440 setting I would probably have accepted it. The trouble is I am fussy, and now that I have seen the difference I need to find out what other problems I may run into if I use the lower preset as the information in Premiere seems to suggests that I should be using the Full HD preset if the footage was shot in full HD. Anybody have any thoughts on this or experienced this?

I have sought out your camcorder and checked its specifications and found:
From what I have read and what you have said, it sounds like your Panasonic HDC-HS9 is recording AVCHD (video MPEG-4 AVC/H.264; audio Dolby Digital 5.1 channel sound) 1920 x 1080i50 (if you have a PAL version of the camcorder = 25 frames per second or 50 fields per second). At this point, I am not sure if you are recording to the camcorder’s hard drive or to a memory card.
So, I find it appropriate that you select your Premiere Elements project preset (New Project dialog) = PAL AVCHD Full HD1080i25 5.1 channel sound. Typically it is suggested that the project preset be as close as possible to the properties of the imported video to give you the appropriate frame work for editing. This does not prohibit you from making other export choices and downsizing as in this case. Although how well Premiere Elements 7 can downsize is another question. And, I suspect that your imported video has Fields = upper fields first.
If you tell me that you are burning to folder, that means to me that you are creating DVD-VIDEO files (presumed PAL 720 x 576 25 frames per second, with 16:9). And these DVD-VIDEO files would have Fields = lower fields first. And you are going from 1920 x 1080 with square pixels to 720 x 576 with a 16:9 flag. I am thinking Fields issue or 16:9 flag issue. But, then the question comes up, why not for both choices of project preset.
Here comes my questions.
1. How repeatable and consistant is this slight difference that you are seeing and relating to the project preset (New Project dialog)?
2. Are you taking the same video, doing the same edits for the comparison of the project presets of PAL AVCHD Full HD1080i25 5.1 channel and PAL AVCHD HD1080i25 5.1 channel?
3. I may be overlooking something tonight, but I cannot invoke a scenario to target the project presets unless you are doing something grossly different in the edits or using different videos in the comparison.
Since there is a lot going on after the DVD video files are generated, is there any chance you could do a mini comparison creating menus and burning to DVD in Premiere Elements 7 and determine if this difference exists then?
I need to think on this some more to include some aspects that I did not include here now.

Are Easy Setups with Custom Capture and Sequence Presets Portable?

Hi,
I created some Custom Capture and Sequence Presets. Then I created some Easy Setups that use these presets.
Can I copy the Easy Setups to another machine or do I need to create or copy the Custom Presets in order for the Easy Setups to work?
If I need to copy or create the Custom Presets how can I copy them (which files do they live in)?

Thanks for the reply. The Easy Setups are in the directory you mentioned but the Custom Presets are not.
My question is are the custom presets used by the Easy Setup contained inside the Easy Setups? If not are there files I can copy or do I need to manually create them on the second Mac?
Since the other Mac is 50 miles away I have no easy way to test this. If there are files I can bring rather than redoing the custom presets that would be quite a bit easier.

Adobe Livecycle ES2 and ES3

Good Morning,
After some tests on adobe livecycle ES2 trial version , I identified a problem with pdf transformation. When we flattened the pdf, the images dissapeared (probably due to remote path), and charts werent displaying properly. After that, we tried the ES3 Version , and it worked fine, without any of those problems. My question is, was that issue fixed in the ES2? Will I be able to flatten pdf's properly using the ES2 platform? Or do I need to buy the ES3?

How do I match a clip to sequence settings and sequence presets?

I'm getting the warning: Attention - This clip does not match this sequence's settings or any or our sequence presets.
I'm trying to figure out how to set things up in Compressor so that my clips do match my sequence settings and presets. The issue seems to be with the audio not matching.
Here are the sequence settings:
Audio-2 Outputs
Frame Size- 1920x1080
Vid Rate-24fps
Compressor-Apple ProRes 422 (proxy)
Aud Rate 48.0 KHz
Aud Format 32-bit floating Point
I shot all the footage with a Canon 5D Mark II. I'm using Compressor to convert all my original clips. The only thing I don't seem to be able to match is the Audio. I can't find any way in Compressor to encode clips that have "two outputs" in the Audio column.
The dialogue box for "Sound Settings" in Compressor doesn't offer any sort of options, that I can find anyway, to generate clips with "two outputs."

PhotoShop CS2 and PDF Presets question.

I have installed the recent free release of Adobe Photoshop CS2 on my Win 8.1 PC.
I am creating the artwork for a CD Cover, by using a CYMK template from CD-Baby.
They require that the finished artwork be submitted to them in PDF format, using the [PDF/X-4:2008] preset.
I found that Photoshop CS2 didn't come with this preset, but after searching the web, I came across this forum whereby a user posted a link to a "JobOptions" archive file at...

... I downloaded this RAR file and found that there was a file inside called "x4;2008.joboptions"
I installed this preset by the 'EDIT/Adobe PDF Presets/' route, and it seemed to successfully install the preset.
(No errors at least).
Now when I go to save my finished project as PDF, I am given the choice of...
* [PDF/X-1a:2001]
* [PDF/X-3:2002]
* x4;2008
(this is the exact description of each preset).
My only question is, do you think the desired [PDF/X-4:2008] was correctly installed?,
I'm not sure since the naming format is not exactly the same as the first 2 presets descriptions.

COLOR/ BLACK AND WHITE PRESETS

I am trying to set up a new computer to print both black and white and color. (I am working on two macs fyi) On my computer, I have the presets already made. On the new mac laptop, there are only Default and Last used. I figured out how to make presets, but I cannot find an option for color or black and white anywhere. I am using Microsoft word for mac 2011. Oh and I checked the printer drivers and all of my updates and everything is up to date and how it should be. I was able to save it as a PDF and it saved in color but printed in black and white. Besides, I need to be able to set this up and print from word quickly. All of my other computers print both color and black and white from the same printer. Any help as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated.

its a kyrocera taskalfa. I wasn't able to find any settings that stopped just one computer from printing in color. Like I said, all of the other computers are able to print in color and b&w.

AVGetOptimizerPresets and 'Standard' presets - name is Acrobat language-dependent?

I am calling AVGetOptimizerParamsForPreset with "Standard" as the presetName parameter - this works fine on an English OS (with English Acrobat). However, on a Japanese OS (with Japanese Acrobat), it fails - apparently, the name "Standard" is in Japanese in this case (標準).
I want to use the Standard optimizations in both cases - how do I select those settings without regard to the version of Acrobat I am running in?

Anyone from Adobe tell me if the 1st preset returned by AVGetOptimizerPresets is always Standard? Or how to ask for the Standard preset from Japanese Acrobat?
If I get no answer, my work-around will be to first try to load the preset with the name 'Standard' and then, if that fails, to get the one named '標準'. Bogus, but I think it'll work.
