  • SPP for machinery service parts planning within single location ?

    Hello,
I'm seeking for general directional advices from anyone having gone thru an SPP implementation. We are currently investigating how to handle machinery service parts in one of our main production plants. ERP6.0 does have anything specific in terms of planning/forecasting etc. since such service parts are typically sporadic use and the requirement is to plan for a service level on such. We have roughly 20.000 service parts in the plant  where roughly 3.000 are used within a month (can be once a month or more).
So far we have checked the SAP ERP "add*ONE INFORM" solution and it looks promising and like a all-in-one for this purpose. Now the question came whether we can use SCM-SPP for this since we do use SCM7.0 DP/SNP/GATP for a couple years now and have a certain experience in DP forecasting and SNP heuristics. We are not sure if SPP in SCM is meant for such a case like we have - we do not need to distribute service parts - we don't necessarily would need BODs etc.. But the interesting part are the predefined forecasting methods and automatic model assigment in SPP etc. in there (in comparison to APO-DP where we have to chose and set the models for each part individually).
Is there any general recommended use / non-use of SCM-SPP in a certain area or for our single plant service parts planning ?
Thanks for any advice or hint !
    Regards
    Thomas

    Hi SRS Kannan,
    tks for your reply.
Questions: our machinery spar parts don't have "Sales Orders" but PurchaseOrders buying such parts from vendors and a consumption history while using such parts for repairing /replacing machinery parts - will this work too assumping we can connect BW datacubes carrying such data into SPP forecasting process (or is SPP "insisting on Sales Order history) ?
    Regard

  • Supply Parts Planning and CRM

    Hello All ,
I need to identify which are the standard extractors (BI content ) for pulling Supply Parts Planning (SPP) data from SAP CRM into SAP BI . Please let me know if anybody has information on the same asap.
    Thanks .

Hi Riddhi.  Did you mean to ask what are the standard extractors, if any, for pulling Service Parts Planning data from SCM, as opposed to CRM, mentioned in your original post?

  • Using ASCP for Repair Planning and Service Parts Planning

I have a client that is doing a large scale Oracle ERP (most modules). The customer is a large aircraft maintainer and perform most of the maintenance internal. Has anyone implemented ASCP is a complex repair environment that his heavily influenced by service parts concepts. I am a Xelus/ClickCommerce implementor and I am looking for some insight on how to implement the key service parts concepts including: fractional repair BOM's/Factors, time phased bills of materials, importing time phased re-order points, time phased carcass returns , constraint based planning on carcasses, material and resources.

    Partha ,
The simple scenario mentioned by you where one supplier/supplier site is there for an item and supplying to two org ... the suggested due date can be different by having different purchasing lead time(pre processing + post processing + processing) set at item org level .
But this solution will not work when you have multiple supplier/supplier site is there for an item rog combination. However here it can be tried modeling through a combination of post processing lead time at ASL Level and pre processing lead time + post processing lead time at item org level.

  • Service Parts Planning Substitution of Reman Products Demand in DRP Matrix

I've got a pretty specific question about how Substitution of Remanufactured Products Demand actually gets distributed in the DRP Matrix in SPP (/n/SAPAPO/SPPDRPM).
1.)  Two products are involved in an active 1:1 Subst. of Remanufactured Products "Replacement Type" in the Interchangeability UI (/n/INCMD/UI).  One would be the predecessor Reman product and one would be the successor Seed product.
2.)  Let's say supplier capacity is in weekly periods in the SPRO configuration of 1 piece for each week for 52 weeks.
3.)  When recalculating the DRP Matrix for the predecessor product, how does the substitution of remanufactured products demand get distributed among different locations within the BOD (Bill of Distribution) on the successor product if the requirements on the REMAN product were greater than the supplier capacity indicated.
If you don't understand the concept or need more information, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    John V.

  • Service Parts planning through SAP

    Hi,
We are looking for the right Parts planning solution for a company engaged in providing after sales service for branded products to various end customers across the country. The company is currently working on SAP R/3 4.7 and is in the process of implementing CRM 5.0 Field Service.
Following is the business requirements in brief:
Parts get mobilised from a Central Hub to several Regional Warehouses and from where it further gets distributed to the channel Partners who are actually carrying out the Service.
    (a) The business wants to fix a "Minimum Stock Level" for each Part at the Warehouses and Channel Partners. Apart from this, it wants to fulfill daily demand arising from the field as Service Calls. Currently there is an industry logic that has to use past Service Call details from CRM and compute Min Stk Level at the Channel Partner.
    (b) When requests for Parts come from several Channel Partners to a Regional Warehouse, the WH applies certain priority rules to allocate available stock to each of the requests (for ex: - First in First Serve, Rank of the Channel Partner etc.,) Initially WH fulfills daily demand and if there is surplus then Min Stock Levels are fulfilled.
    (c) Similarly, when several Regional WH places requests to the Central Hub (based on shortfalls arising after fulfilling Channel Partner's requirements), the Central Hub applies its own priority rules to allocate available stock to the Regional WH (For ex: - Proximity, Unfulfilled Calls at the Channel Partners by age etc.,)
There are other variants that has to be applied in the form of rules while determining optimum allocation quantity to the Channel Partners so that 100 % Service Level is achieved.
Request experts in this field to suggest the best approach / platform to solutionize the above business requirement.
    Thanks for your time.
    Raj

    Hi GS,
I can see requirements coming up in APO SPP and SAP SPM solution as a whole( which wiill cover ECC & SCM components) past 2 years.
Regarding maturity of APO SPP, from experiences we have for some clients, some amount of enhancements are required , because, Service parts supply chain managment processes are done quite differently across organizations.
Since the basic framework of SPP business processes is well set in APO SPP, it will worthwhile to spend time on this module.
    These are my opinions.
I hope this gives answers to your query.
    Pleae check.
    Regards
    Datta

  • Simulation in Service Parts Planning (SPP)

    Hello to all!
I have few questions about simulation in SPP:
    1. Please explain me the differencies between Snapshot Version and Simple Copy of Active Version.
    2. Is it possible to join simulation version and active version or to substitute cuurent active version with simulation version so simulation version will become active version? I need this functionality for preventing 2 runs of planning services instead of this i want to use simulation for planning and if the results of simulation are acceptable so the will become "active" without repeating this operations for active version.
    Thanks in advance!

  • What is differance between warehouse management and Extended warehouse mgt

    Hi,
I want to understand what is extended warehouse management, You will do this. Whether this is extension of warehouse management , What extrac topics are covered in this module.  Please help me understand.
    Thanks.
    kumar,

    Hi Ashok,
There are various differences between WM and EWM.
One of the most visible and obvious thing that i observed is tracking of serial numbers at the Storage BIn is not in WM but thats now possible in EWM.
EWM is just not a Warehouse Management Solution but it also has various other processes like Labout Management, Material Flow Systems(Warehouse Control Systems generally referred as).
You also have an option of hosting Warehouse Management software on a decentralized system along with ERP.
Also see the link below, it is a good one to start with

  • Difference between service procurement classic and extended classic?

I could you find any document for extended classic.
Could anybody help explain what is different between the 2 classics?
    Thanks!

In the Extended Classic scenario, the entire procurement process takes place locally in EBP (SRM)  and a copy of the data is replicated to the back-end system. In essence, this scenario is an extension of the Classic Scenario.
The purchase order in the back-end SAP system (ERP , R/3 System)  is a read-only copy that enables goods receipt, service entry, and invoice verification in the back-end system. The back-end purchase order cannot be changed. If you wish to make any changes to the purchase order, you must do so in EBP i.e. SRM system. Once you save these changes, they are transferred to the back-end purchase order.
While in Classic Scenario , The PO is created in the backend ERP system once the SC is approved.
In brief , you can say while in extended classic scenario , the backend ERP system is a read only system and we do everything is EBP (SRM) system only. and in Classic Scenario , ERP system was used to generate the purchase orders.
Hope it clarifies and gives you a little visiblity on what is the difference between both.
