ESA & XI BPM??

Hi,
I have been reading through the discussions on ESA and I have few questions...
As per my understanding ESA is an architecture from SAP to integrate a internal business process (between different systems with in an organization) OR an external business process which invloves external partners. This integration is made possible via implementing services which will communicate with each other. If this is true, we have XIs BPM available right now which actually takes care of this kind of integration. How is ESA or SOA going to be different or how will this new architecture make this process more robust???
Thanks

Hi
XI BPM can be used for service Orchestration  and XI BPM is modelling tool to implement ESA  .ESA and SOA goes hand in hand for an example  at more granular level  for creating a purchase order  you are converting it to a webservice then it is SOA but at enterprise level where you use this webservice as a reusable component to do process orchestration or service orchestration as in your case to achieve a more complex task then it is  ESA .The strength of ESA can be harvested best through composite application framework known as CAF  where your different datasources ,different processes can be brought together to suffice the needs of  business requirement for e.g if industry verticals you have XIEP for oil and gas,XMMI  etc so basically strength of ESA is in building composites using modelling tools where even a business analyst can work out solution using modelling tools like visual composer, guided procedures etc.It is paradigm shift to break a monolithic application to usable component block by building enterprise services which is composite of various webservices ,Hope thi helps you please do not forget to give points it inspires

    Hi,
    Check things like
    SAP Netweaver  vs SAP ABAP
    netweaver vs mysap
It comes to the fact that you first need to choose what you want to do within NW.
    Check also http://searchSAP.com/r/0,,41186,00.htm

I put you on a link to the manuals where BPEL is described. This deos not explain anything specific about ESA, as I doubt that BPEL is service aware...

You want to know this about XI or ESA?

As ESA is based on webservices, this should be clear. Otherwise please ask back.

  • ESA/SOA + XI (BPM) + Visual Composer = ?

I think it is a future. I think it is a good idea to create services as reusable components to manage/automate they in XI (as BPM) and to create well supported UI fast in VC.
    What do you think?

While the combination of technologies you've mentioned can certainly be interesting in certain scenarios (analytics?) it will most likely share the spotlight with other ESA-based concepts and tools like MDA, CAF, BPP...

  • FAQ:SAP 的一些名词解释(NetWeaver.ESOA.ESA等)

    NetWeaver
    ESA
    ESOA
    SAP Business Suite
    SAP xApps

  • ESA in terms of SOA patterns

    Hello Everyone,
I had worked in SAP NetWeaver areas like XI,Portals, BW etc. I was looking through the SOA architecture and SAP mentions that ESA is the extension of SOA concept that it creates Enterprise services rather than only services where corporate object model, canonical data model is taken into consideration.
What I am looking at is that whether ESA has got some patterns like SOA has e.g.Service Proxy,Service Integrator etc. or how it fits into these typical SOA patterns?
Secondly I guess XI is the ESB of in ESA and in one of these forums I found that conceptually XI is ESB but actually its a Hub and Spoke model..just wanted to know then how its a ESB which is not similar to Hub and Spoke?
Thirdly is ESA composer tool like NetWeaver Developer Studio or its enhanced version of Composite Apps Framework?
    Thanks in advance.
    Thanks And Regards

    Hello All-
I was just observing this post. Currently we are evaluating SAP NetWeaver stack in SOA space. We had come up with couple of evaluation parameters. If somebody can answer/point to the right resources, it will be great help
1.Does the NetWeaver provide any IDE which  have  ability to create new services in J2EE, .NET, DB2, and CICS?
2.Can the IDE convert existing J2EE, .NET, DB2, CICS components to Web services?
3.Can the IDE integrate with standard modeling tools (Rational Rose/XDE etc.) for forward and reverse engineering?
4.I understand that Web Application Server 6.40 can host J2EE based web services. Can it also host .Net based web services? If not, please provide suggested mechanisms from SAP to host non-J2EE based web services?
5.Can the registry tool provided by SAP integrate with IBM-Tivoli Directory Server and/or any other external directory servers to provide user based access permission to services. If Yes, what kind of integration is provided?
6.Does the registry tool support UDDI-level replication, enabling support for federated registries?
7.Does SAP NetWeaver provide a separate tool for Metadata repository or is it integrated with the registry tool?
8.Does SAP NetWeaver have capability to record Policies, contracts for Services and then later monitor them at design and run time?
9.Does SAP NetWeaver stack support service orchestration using services based on SAP, J2EE and .NET
10.What are the Data transformation requirements provided by the orchestration, BPEL engine provided by SAP?
11.What kind of domain templates are provided by SAP BPM engine?
12.Can the output provided by SAP BPM tool be interpreted by any standard BPEL tool? If yes please provide list of such BPEL engines.
13.Does SAP NetWeaver stack support WS-Reliability features? If yes please provide list of features supported and the details of support provided against each of the features
14.Does SAP NetWeaver stack provide any Testing Tool? If yes please provide the tool name along with the features provided.
15.What kind of Transport-Level, Service-Level security features by supported by SAP NetWeaver Stack? Can you please map the security features provided with WS-Security
16.From an SOA Implementation perspective, how does the SAP Netweaver stack leverage the standards suggested by CAF
    Thanks in advance

  • ESA and NetWeaver

    Hello,
After reading a lot of presentations and papers about ESA the following question is not well clarified for me:
How the NetWeaver-Stack concretely support the Enterprise Service Architecture??
Someone has further information for me?
    Thanks for your help!

    Thomas,
Jason covered a lot in his response, and I hope that helps.  I would like to turn the sequence around a little and hopefully provide some details that make the use of NW capabilities even more concrete.  A lot of ESA benefit comes from leveraging existing systems (and their in-built processes) to other parts of the organization and partners.  In many cases the first order of business is to expose specific, high value functions as Services.  NW-XI allows for easy exposure of those embedded functions through its many product adapters, JMS, and WS infrastructure, which we then in turn expose as Web Services for the Enterprise (in a central Directory).  One difference between what I just described and simply Web Service enabling each existing application with what ever SOAP stack that is handy is that each service exposed through XI has associated and consistent management, monitoring, transformation, and composition services (and tools).  Many of the “high value” services need to be decorated (via composition) with infrastructure services that help insure Quality of Service, meet Audit requirements, and provide more complete abstraction from the underlying implementation.  NW-XI and the included BPM engine (ccBPM) provide both the development tools and runtime services to do this easily. NW facilitates the exposure and consumption of Enterprise Services by not requiring either consumer or provider to create the additional infrastructure services.  Enterprise queues in NW-XI also provide key infrastructure for async web services that again do not need to be bolted on individually by consumers and providers.  NW-WebAS underlies all NW components (XI, BW, etc.) so inherent capabilities of each are available consistently through WebAS and all non-SAP Web Services can be utilized by NW though the Eclipse-based tools of NW Studio as Jason mentions, and operated, orchestrated, and evolved through NW.
What we are seeing in the rollout of ESA at customers is that many of the services come from SAP systems (no surprise) but a number of key consumers and some providers are from other technologies.  The approach I described above provides for a more robust rollout regardless of if the underlying implementations are SAP or non-SAP based.  The ability to version interfaces that represent the same underlying system, but reflect the service evolution as needed by the business and business processes is a key benefit of the NW approach to Service enablement and operations.

  • FileName in BPM

    Hello everybody,
we poll via file adapter. The files we read are processed in BPM.
Is it possible to access the value of a file name in BPM?
    Regards Mario

    Hi Mario,
    yes,
set the Set Adapter-Specific Message Attributes indicator at communication channel and choose file name to store adapter attribute "file name" in the message header of the XI message.  Map the value into the message to have it at BPM containter.

  • BPM Process chain takes long time to process

We have BI7, Netweaver 2004s on Oracle and SUN Solaris
There is a process chain (BPM) which pulls data from the CRM system into BW. The scheduled time to run this chain is 0034 hrs. This chain should ideally complete before / around 0830 Hrs. <b>Now the problem is that every alternate day this chain behaves normally and gets completed well before 0830 hrs but every alternate day this chain fails…</b> there are almost 40 chains running daily. Some are event triggered (dependent with each other) or some run in parallel. In this, (BPM) process chain, usually there are 5 requests with 3 Delta and 2 full uploads (Master Data). The delta uploads finishes in 30 minutes without any issues with very few record transfers. The first full upload is from 0034 hrs to approximately 0130 hrs and the 2nd upload is from 0130 hrs to 0230 hrs. Now if the 1st upload gets delayed then the people who are initiating these chains, stop the 2nd full upload and continue it after all the process chains are completed. Now this entire BPM process chain sometimes takes 17 -18 hrs to complete!!!!!
No other loads in CRM or BW when these process chains are running
CRM has background jobs to push IDOCS to BW which run every 2 minutes which runs successfully
Yesterday this chain got completed successfully (well within stipulated time) with over 33,00,000 records transferred but sometimes it has failed to transfer even 12,00,000 records!!
Attaching a zip file, please refer the “21 to 26 Analysis screen shot.doc” from the zip file
Within the zip file, attaching “Normal timings of daily process chains.xls” – the name explains it….
Also within the zip file refer “BPM Infoprovider and data source screen shot.doc” please refer this file as the infopackage (page 2) which was used in the process chain is not displayed later on in page number 6 BUT CHAIN GOT SUCESSFULLY COMPLETED
    We have analyzed:--
    1)     The PSA data for BPM process chain for past few days
    2)     The info providers for BPM process chain for past few days
    3)     The ODS entries for BPM process chain for past few days
    4)     The point of failure of BPM process chain for past few days
    5)     The overall performance of all the process chains for past few days
    6)     The number of requests in BW for this process chain
    7)     The load on CRM system for past few days when this process chain ran on BW system
As per our analysis, there are couple of things which can be fixed in the BW system:--
    1)     The partner agreement (transaction WE20) defined for the partner LS/BP3CLNT475 mentions both message types RSSEND and RSINFO: -- collect IDOCs and pack size = 1 Since the pack size = 1 will generate 1 TRFC call per IDOC, it should be changed to 10 so that less number of TRFCs will be generated thus less overhead for the BW server resulting in the increase in performance
    2)     In the definition of destination for the concerned RFC in BW (SM59), the “Technical Setting” tab says the “Load balancing” option = “No”. We are planning to make it “Yes”
But we believe that though these changes will bring some increase in performance, this is not the root cause of the abnormal behavior of this chain as this chain runs successfully on every alternate day with approximately the same amount of load in it.
I was not able to attach the many screen shots or the info which I had gathered during my analysis. Please advice how do I attach these files
    Best Regards,

    Hi,
Normally  index  creation or deletion can take long time in case  your database statistics are not updated properly, so can check  stat  after your data loading is completed and index generation is done,  Do creation of database statistics.
    Then try to recheck ...

When you say you're having trouble "opening" the BPM Object, is it possible you instead mean you're having trouble expanding the BPM Object?
Just a guess, but if you're having trouble expanding the BPM Object I'd suspect that the object's xcdl contents might be corrupted. You might want to consider exporting and saving a backup of the project and then try deleting the object from the Project Navigator. Rebuild the BPM Object once you've deleted it.

  • Problems to invoke a secure Web service from Oracle BPM Studio 10.3

    Hi all
I'm trying to consume a web service through HTTPS protoloco Oracle BPM Studio v10.3, but I get the following error: sun.security.validator.ValidatorException: PKIX path building failed: sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target.
    Some help!!
    Thanks

Without going into any technical discussion about the code, my first question is what JDK version was used to create this which was imported into the form? Understand that Forms 10 runs on JDK 1.4.2, so if you used any newer JDK version, likely there will be problems.

  • Fork is not working - BPM

I have done 2 samples using fork and in both the cases it is not working. For each message new BPM is triggered and only one step (branch) gets completed and other branch steps remain in ready state forever.
    1) I have tested standard BPM pattern BpmPatternCollectMultiIf
    2) Simple process using fork - two branches using different inetrfaces (having different message types)
Integration process return code is 0 - runtime cache
I am testing on local sandbox (XI 3.0) with SP17.
Under SAP help only brief description available about fork. Please share if you have good references/samples about fork (BPM).

    Jai,
1)I expect following result in case of standard BPM pattern "BpmPatternCollectMultiIf"
Note: Here same message type for all 3 interfaces ( branches), no end condition, no of branches = 3
As all message types are same when I send first message only one branch will be executed and outbound status under sxmb_moni with be clock (Message being sent). When I send 2 message, second branch will be completed and status will be clock again. And when I send 3 rd message all branches will be completed and outbound status will be success flag (Message successful on outbound side). Under one process id three messages will be displayed
Actual result is every time status as clock. and for each message new fork instance is created. below are the processids for 3 messages
    133721
    133726 -
    unexpected
    133731 -
    unexpected
Ideally when you send 3 messages all should be process under process ids 133721 to 133725
    2) I have tried fork with 3 branches with different message types. When I send 3 messages ( here each payload is different as per message type ) I expect success flag after 3rd message. But in this case also always the status as clock. and every time new fork instance.
Is anybody  successful to test BPM pattern -> BpmPatternCollectMultiIf?

  • Logical system name for acknowledgement in BPM

    Hi,
    I have a szenario:
    IDOC --> BPM --> MAIL
Inside BPM I check the message and depending on an xml-element I stop the process or I send the message by mail.
When I stop the process the BPM sends back an acknowledgement and in SXMB_MONI I can see an error of the acknowledgement:
"Sender Test_BPM_IDOC_TO_MAIL kann nicht in ein ALE Logisches System umgeschlüsselt werden" (Sender can not convert in a ALE logical system)
    What can I do?
    Possible Solution 1:
I can define my BPM "Test_BPM_IDOC_TO_MAIL" as a logical system (including WE20 for ALEAUD).
    Possible Solution 2:
I can enter an existing logical system name in the "adapter specific attributes".
BUT it is not use the same logical system name twice (BAD ... or is there a workaround?
Is Solution 1) a common way?
    Thanx
    Regards

    Hi,
    there are many ways:
some for aleaud are described in my book:
