EscalatedPrivilegeFileOperationDaemon.exe - what is it?

When launching Adobe Extension Manager (CS5.5) on a Win7 x32 device using an account that has standard user privileges I receive a UAC prompt in order to run the file EscalatedPrivilegeFileOperationDaemon.exe. I am within a corporate estate and users don't have elevated privileges, as such they cannot successfully launch the application.
Considering that other Adobe CS5.5 applications run fine using standard user permissions, what is this particular executable doing and is there any way of either circumventing it or launching Extension Manager without it?
Having elevated privileges is not an option, nor is getting a support technician's assistance (in order to enter the credentials) every time the app is launched.
Many thanks in advance.

Since the Extension Manager is built on AIR, it doesn't have default local file access privileges. This little utility establishes the relvant temporary environment... Other than letting it run as admin I'm not aware of a way to give it the necessary permissions since the port assignments can change dynamically as can specific registry keys and the extensions it handles...

    as I said on top. Installed firefox 4 on 5/17. It was working okay until today. When I try to get online I click on my mozilla icon as always. A window pops up and says firefox.exe. what program would u like to use to open It shows me mozilla and I click on it. Then says do u want to run file and save.Browser opens tabs com up with search bar but the page is white blank. I have to go to the search bar and enter what wbsite i want to go to . Then I can pretty much go anywhere. What should I do? should I uninstall everything? can I still get back a older version like 3.6? How can I go about this.

    Does if help if you check the security tab in the properties of the file and remove a possible internet protection?
    Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • Plugin-container.exe : what is it, why is it necessary, can I delete it

    Continued from the "plugin-container.exe : what is it, why is it necessary, can I delete it" thread:
    1) When people say Firefox uses up a lot of CPU/Memory, they are telling the truth. Tools like Task Manager and Process Explorer show you how much CPU/Memory Firefox is using up. Stop calling people liars when they say Firefox is using up X Memory. Stop making baseless accusations like "you're running other programmes that are causing your CPU to skyrocket and Firefox to freeze". Task Manager and Process Explorer don't lie. Take yourself off the thread because you're not helping anyone, you're creating anger and hatred, you're basically trolling. If you have no valid advice to offer, keep your mouth shut and stay away instead of launching into the "you're a liar" nonsense.
    2) Stop typing in caps
    3) Refrain from using profanity and ad hominem attacks
    4) If you claim you're abandoning Firefox for another browser, fine: now get off the board and go away instead of posting inflammatory hatred against Mozilla since you're no longer using Mozilla
    5) Stop attacking and/or ignoring the advice of Mozilla representatives like Morbus
    6) Morbus: the Firefox Safe-Mode advice you frequently dispense is the most rejected advice because most people do not want to mess with their browsers, especially people who are not not knowledgeable about safe-mode, add-ons, disabling, etc. I fully agree that people must learn how to diagnose the problems on their own and find solutions on their own, but not all people are capable of learning how to do that. Computers are easy for many people, but not all people. The Safe-Mode solution appeals to a '''minority '''of people who are comfortable with picking apart their browser and picking apart other things to find solutions, not the majority, who fear making things worse.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

    7) Stop telling people to remove add-ons and plug-ins and scripts. Firefox was made specifically to enable to build their own browsers. Firefox was made for the purpose of allowing people use all the add-ons and plug-ins and scripts they wanted. No other browser offers that range of add-on/plug-in/script support. Removing the add-ons and plug-ins and scripts eliminates the purpose of Firefox. If Mozilla representatives want to insist that removing add-ons and plug-ins and scripts are the solution, then Mozilla is telling us that its browser is no different from IE or Chrome, in which case Mozilla has given us a reason to stop using Mozilla.

  • The exe files are not responding on my computer. I can't get to firefox.exe - what can I do?

    I downloaded a 7-zip file from CNET and it didn't do what I wanted and so I uninstalled it. However, all the "exe" files on the computer are now not accessible. I can get to Firefox thru a "shortcut" on my desktop for the local newspaper. The e-mail is working thru my yahoo account only. I purchased PC MightyMax and that didn't do anything for me. I've tried to restore the computer to yesterday or earlier and the restore window will not come up either.

    In some cases, all EXEs being broken can indicate a malware infection.
    Do you get a specific error message when you try to start a program?
    I'm concerned that PC MightyMax itself might be an infection you need to remove, but let's come back to that issue.

  • In some pc ActionScript not working even after running the .SWF or .EXE, what may be the problem ?

    In my flash project i am using ActionScript to get FULLScreen and mouse hide action. I hv already used the AS3 in Adobe Flash CC and AS2 in Adobe Flash CS6.  All my files are working well, both .SWF and .EXE (projector..) . But the client is saying in his pc the Full SCREEN and Mouse hide is not working. I instructed to update the flash player plugins, still they are getting the same issue. What is the matter pls any one guide us. My code is in the first frame of Flash file which is mention below.
    /*AS2 code*/
    fscommand("fullscreen","true");
    Mouse.hide();
    /*AS3 code*/
    stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE;
    stage.scaleMode = StageScaleMode.SHOW_ALL;
    Mouse.hide();

    Hi all, few days ago the client told , one of the project file (.SWF and .EXE) showing full screen. Again day before yesterday the client again said, all the project files working Full Screen and Mouse hide action. Still i do know such happens ? if any technical issue is behind its problem than anyone pls inform me. However it is running well in their PC now.

  • Expected actions of svchost.exe - what is interesting, in the context of monitoring what svchost.exe is doing?

    Hi,
    I have seen numerous articles explaining svchost, and I think I have a reasonable grasp of it (although basic).  My favourite article so far is
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/list-services-running-under-svchostexe-process/#advanced, which I think is well written and very handy indeed!
    My current issue is that I am tweaking a security program called McAfee Host IPS, currently running on 2003 R2 and 2008 R2 servers, and getting a lot of events associated with svchost.exe that I believe require exceptions to be configured.  What I do
    not want to do, however, is configure an exception that hides something that may be useful information, however there is a balance required in what I am doing.
    Focusing on my current task at hand, I can confirm I have seen a large number of events associated with the below.  The below is all of the information I have on the Host IPS signature in question, although I am currently digging further.
    IPS Signature Name: CMD Tool Access by a Network Aware Application
    IPS Signature details: This event indicates an attempt by a networked application to access, modify or execute a system program that may be used to modify the configuration of your system.
    IPS Signature severity: Low
    I have seen a large number of events with threat source process = C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\SVCHOST.EXE, and the following files, either accessed or executed.
    C:\WINNT\System32\tasklist.exe
    C:\WINNT\System32\ipconfig.exe
    C:\WINNT\System32\cmd.exe
    C:\WINNT\System32\route.exe
    As the above reference lists DLLs specifically, and not EXEs, I am not sure if this is expected (but am gathering it is, especially as the IPS signature details refers to 'system programs').
    I am suspecting that my best action here is to configure an exception for threat source process <systemdir>\SVCHOST.EXE and target files <systemdir>\*.*, as my hypothesis is that even if I have not seen it in the tuning phase, there are
    a lot of similar benign actions that could potentially trigger in the day to day workings of the OS.  I am also assuming that I will see similar in later versions of Windows Server OS.
    To throw a slight curveball, we are also integrated with a SIEM solution.  As this signature severity is low, it is mapped to a log action so nothing will actually be stopped, but if there are no exceptions, relevant events would go through to SIEM.
    They could be filtered there, but potentially used in correlation rules or troubleshooting, but that obviously takes more space in the McAfee (ePO) database and the SIEM solution, which needs to be taken into account.
    Thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated - I genuinely wish I knew more about this subject!
    Cheers,
    Darren

    Hi,
    I am not sure what specific information you are looking for - could you clarify?  I think I have covered the majority of what is happening in my initial post, however if there is a specific bit of information you are after, let me know.
    The above is an article I had stumbled across, with the majority of the information contained in the link included in my initial post.  The final paragraph under 'could this process be a virus' is interesting - I have copied it below - from your perspective
    is this merely anecdotal or is there something behind it (references, if they exist, would be fantastic)?
    "As long as you make sure that the location of the file is in your Windows\System32 directory, you aren’t dealing with a virus. There have been cases of certain viruses trying to mimic the same filename, but they are always located in another directory."

  • OEMDSP64.exe-- what is it?

    I was looking at Vista's  reliability monitor and noticed that it has been logging several application failures (about 3 times a day) for something called 'OEMDSP64.exe', shown as 'stopped working'.   I never saw any evidence of these failures while using the machine (T400s running Vista Business x64).
    I can see that this exe is present in two directories: ProgramFiles (x86)\Lenovo\NPDIRECT and SWTOOLS\DRIVERS\PDIRECT.
     I assume  these directories are related to Presentation Director, which I have never used.
      Other than that I don't know anything about this file.  Even a Google search results in no useful info.   Does anyone know what this file is for (and how to eliminate the failures that are being logged)?

    I am using Vista x64, but I have never used the Fn+F7 key combination, or purposely used Presentation Director (at least, not until I saw all the failures logged by the Reliability monitor).  I just checked and there were another 10 instances of  'OEMDSP64.exe stopped working'  today alone.
    However, when I do press Fn+F7, all  I hear (after a few seconds) is  one of the  windows sounds.  Nothing appears on the screen, but the event viewer logs an application error (and OEMDSP64.exe is shown as the faulting application).
    So now I have two issues-- why is OEMDSP64.exe starting on my machine for no apparent reason,  and why (when I do try to start it) is it failing?   I decided to uninstall Presentation Director since I have no use for it, and as it uninstalls, I get a popup warning that OEMDSP64.exe is detected as a 'shared file'-- and that it may no longer be needed by any application, but that 'deleting it may prevent other applications from operating correctly'.  So something else besides Presentation Director seems to use this file.   I decided to go ahead with the uninstall anyway, and will wait to see if any other application is affected as a result.

  • OsoftPackageLauncher.exe - what is this?

    The osoftPackageLauncher.exe process was running at 80-99% CPU on the app server during eData package executions. What is this process, and how should it behave?
    BPC 7MS SP6

    Thank you, Sorin. I think I get it now. I can either deal with an EXE process that consumes up to 99% of CPU during package run, or deal with a possible memory leak in COM+ service (due to MS bug). I think during a long package run that 99% cpu utilization on the app server will cause connection issues for users. So, might be better to utilize the COM+ (and set it to recycle at 900,000).
    Either way, I hope there's a more solid resolution very soon. Thanks again, Sorin.
    For future reference, here's the detail of the note your referenced:
    Summary
    Symptom
    The DM Server COM+ application memory is not released after package execution.
    Other terms
    Planning and Consolidation 75M SP1 Microsoft, DM "Memory leak", IM 2174817 2009
    Reason and Prerequisites
    With End of package execution, SSIS class library is not released from
    memory. (MS Bug)
    Solution
    Corrected in 75M SP1.
    Using Exe file type wrapper for running out of process from COM+.
    [Additional Change]
    Name:RUNPKGBYEXE
    Description:  AppSet Parameter for executing package out of process from COM+
    Valid value:
        0 = Run in process (current behavior)
        1 = Run out of process
    Default value: 1
    So if you want to use current behavior, the parameter's value must be set to 0.

  • IPodService.exe --- What is it?

    Okay, so I have seen this issue addressed in numerous places on this forum from a quick forum search, however I have yet to see a solution to fixing this problem.
    Everytime I plug my iPod into my PC, it keeps popping up one of those annoying "this program (iPodService.exe) has encountered a problem and needs to close" messages, and then I cannot load anything onto my iPod.
    Does anybody have a solution to this problem? It's very annoying, and bugs me because I have to upload my music to my iPod on the downstairs computer which I don't use for anything but that. I have been through the lise of add/remove programs, and I can't seem to find anything that would be causing any kind of disruption.
    Thanks in advance =)

    Dear deggie, since you seem to be the expert here I am adressing this to you...
    Basically it is the same story as with "blust" and "hamilt" just with the slight difference that I am having 3 ipods which ought to be managed manually by the same PC (due to combined music collection with my family members).
    I have tried reinstalling iTunes, cleaning the Temp folder and the xp taht I am running is not a week old.
    My surprise was that my ipod nano 2G is working fine the other is not and the mini either. In case of the later two my processor is completely occupied by service.exe and ipodservice.exe.
    Had always a forced break up of the operation after I have tested my fans' rpm on top level.
    Any suggestions? THX

  • Firefox-wraped.exe what is this FILE? Please explain it to me

    When i try to run firefox that's the file name and ask me for permit ion to open it that never happen before ... is it normal?

    I think uninstalling and reinstalling might be necessary, but first, can you check your Firefox shortcut properties? If you right-click the desktop shortcut, and choose Properties, the Target should be:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
    If the other file is listed there, try changing it back to the default. Not sure it will stick, but it's worth a try.
    If you do uninstall, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
    When you uninstall, do not remove your personal data and settings, just the program.
    Make sure to get your new Firefox from the source: http://www.mozilla.com/
    Good luck.
