Esetnod32 antivirus blocks certain websites causing MFF to crash

I use ESET NOD32 antivirus and it blocks certain URL's causing MFF to crash. If I disable ESET web access protection all web sites load ok. This only started in the last few months. Below is one of many crash ID'd

It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. I have spent hours w my internet provider trying to identify why certain websites, which were always accessible, all of a sudden can not be accessed wirelessly. After much ado, I connected the modem directly to my laptop and low and behold the websites in question pops up w no problem. Since I am lame when it comes to this stuff, can someone explain to me in plain talk how I can access these websites without having to be tethered to my modem? Well try upgrading the firmware of the router & keep on holding tightly
the reset button in such a way that power light is blinking on the
router & then do a complete network power cycle i.e., unplug the power
cables from the modem & from the router & then plug in the power cable
to the modem first once all the lights are solid green you could plug
in the power cable to the router & check out it will definately work!!

Is there a way to block certain websites from my computer?

A website keeps saying "This website is a threat to your computer" or something like that when I go to certain websites. I scanned my computer with McAfee and it said that the website posting that was a hazard to my computer. I can't find any antivirus software (for free) to download to my computer that works (my computer says there's an error when downloading) and when I looked at the page again it had something that said "..I.. " in it and the I was lowercase so i figured that an official page would at least have all that kind of stuff capitalized.
I just want to know how to block this website (or get a link to an antivirus download, for free, that actually works).

Really no need to install anything to block websites, you can use the HOSTS file that is in every Operating System.

Thank you for contacting us for support with your device.
Unfortunately what you are trying to do is not possible with any Small Business switch.
It is true that this switch can be used in layer 3 and it will be able to route your traffic on the inside of the network, but it will not be able to route your traffic to the Internet as it doesn't do any NATting.
If you need to block any websites you will need to configure it on your router or firewall.
Just to be completely clear, this switch won't be able to block any websites.

We recently got rid of Websense, deleted all references to it in our configuration, and now on Win 7/Vista machines, certain websites are not accessible, yet are accessible on XP machines. When the Win 7 machine is taken off site, the websites are accessible. How do we correct this? If I have to post my configuration, what should not be shown?

Certain Websites Cause Problems

I recently migrated a user account from my G4 Mac Mini to a new MacBook. It has been working great; however, certain websites no longer work in Firefox on the mac.
One example is this website: http://homes.timesunion.com/sales/SearchIndex.asp
It no longer allows one to log in, stating an error code. This doesn't occur in Safari.
Another website has a form on it. After selecting one of the options and pressing next (or whatever the button says), it states the that Browser has made an invalid request. (Doesn't happen in Safari)
Why does this occur with these websites (Firefox 2...fully upgraded, but copied from my mini, OS X 10.5.1, MacBook Late 2007)?

Can you start by giving us the troubleshooting information from the Firefox installation that's having problems. This is an essential step in troubleshooting. 
*Click the Firefox button at the top left, then click the ''Help'' menu and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the sub-menu. If you don't have a Firefox button, click the Help menu at the top and select ''Troubleshooting Information'' from the menu.
Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
*At the top of the page, you should see a button that says "Copy text to clipboard". Click it.
*Now, go back to your forum post and click inside the reply box. Press Ctrl+V to paste all the information you copied into the forum post.

I use the free "privoxy" program as a proxy...it sits between my browser and the internet and can be configured to block various URLs. OTOH, it's easy to circumvent: a user could tell the browser to connect directly instead of via proxy or use a different browser. A stricter filter would be to use the built-in "ipfw" firewall (for which one can use the shareware BrickHouse as a GUI) to disallow contacting certain servers...this occurs at a more fundamental level of the network connection and can only be changed by an admin user, so the user or browser configs can't avoid it.

Are you talking about blocking access to the sites? If that's the cause, you can do it by using an extension that blocks unwanted sites ([https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3145/ BlockSite] for example) at your choice, or you can do it using third party software (like a Firewall, for example). There is both free and paid software of that kind. But Firefox doesn't include that feature by default, you'll need an extension for that.

I think it is Adobe Reader XI and I have Windows 8. It has happened with a couple different PDF files. I have experienced the problem when trying to use the "draw a circle" tool as well as the "add text callout" - I have drawn some circles without a problem. Sometimes what happens is I try to draw the circle (or the other one), and nothing happens, it is as if the page doesn't realize I clicked or dragged the mouse. Then when I try clicking somewhere else in Adobe Reader it is frozen/"not responding" and I have to force close the program. When I open it again it tries to restore the changes that I had made since the last time I saved but it doesn't always recover it. I have not tried the repair option - what is that?

well i have students staying in my house and i have recently noticed that my students go into certain Porn sites and i would like to block it so that the student cant even go into those sites or dont even get access to it.

Why are certain websites causing my mac to crash?

I have recently just purchased my first mac and on the whole am very happy with it. However when browsing the internet certain web pages cause my mac to become unresponsive. All my software is up to date. The problem occurs when i'm using safari and so far it's just 4OD (channel4.com) and myspace that have caused this problem. The mouse either freezes completely or turns into the spinning colour wheel and the keyboard shortcut for force quit does not work. I cannot use the dashboard as it doesn't appear even if I can move the mouse over to its area and the time in the top right corner of the screen stops too. All i can do is hold down the power key and then reboot the whole thing. Any ideas as to what might be causing this? Also I looked at the crash reports to see what they said and there aren't even any there!

You're connected on a private and particularly an access-controlled and restricted network, and the administrators of that network have decided that connected users shall not expend available resources and bandwidth with access to various web sites and/or web services.
If the network administrators have established the blocks correctly, you'll need to use fairly advanced techniques to bypass the blocks, and attempts to bypass these blocks — whether the bypasses are successful or not — may well be considered grounds for network disconnection and/or disciplinary action by the organization.
It's common to log these sorts of failures and attempts to bypass, and — given they have control of the switching gear — it can be feasible to uniquely identify the client computer that's making these requests. If not the specific identity of the client computer system or the credentials used, then the location of the client computer that's attempting the connections.
Check with your network administrators, and with the site's policies and procedures.
